As of 12:30 am CST the situation in Ferguson and surrounding areas remains lawless. Looters are running wild throughout the city. Men are walking down the streets with gas cans, doing what arsonists do. There are reports that the nearby Delwood police station is being looted. “Protestors” torched a car in the parking lot. Meanwhile ktvi.com reports that “St. Louis County police have confirmed that a University City police officer was shot around 11:45 pm near Canton Avenue and Lamb Avenue. The officer has been transported to the hospital. No word on the condition of the officer. Police are looking for  a suspect.” Good luck with that. Cops are retreating all over the city – and beyond. Where the hell is the National Guard?

    • How much of the population is causing this current unrest? 1 – 5%… maybe. That is all it takes to stretch and overtax the local resources of a large US city. Makes you wonder what would happen if it was a large percentage of the population.

      • The city would burn. Thousands would die. atrocity would rule and when it settled down you would have a true police state.

        When an existing system is swept away on a tide of murder and destruction it’s almost always replaced with something worse.

        • What I like to point out to people is that revolutions and civil wars are never fought according to nice, tidy rules of engagement and conventional codes of military restraint.

    • I feel like I just got dumber in 30 seconds listening to the comments from some of those people. Sad how far we have fallen in such a short time.

    • I wouldn’t want to be there. You risk your life for the people and property there you are likely to be the next one with a bounty on your head… and on the heads of your family.

      Most of the current agitators/looters/arsonists are probably from outside the area. But they fester in the swamp that some people call a ‘community’ where when a criminal gets shot by police people start throwing bottles at the cops instead of asking where this ‘gentle giant’ learned to rob people and assault cops.

  1. I lived the Detroit 67 and 68 riots. ALL the Police and 8,000 National Guard members and they had to send in elements of the 82 Airborne to bring it under control in 68. My father was a fireman and my uncle’s were police. I think that’s we’re we are headed. The want a race war. All parties have had time to prepare. Nothing good will come from this.

  2. From listening to the MO State Highway Patrol frequency, it appears that there’s quite a large spread of opportunistic arson going on. A car dealership had 6+ vehicles torched in the lot, and now they’re reporting that a power transformer has gone down, putting the area into darkness.

    • I believe one of the major points is that the primary agitators and some of the looters are not shitting where they eat because they are not from that area. Rather they are outsiders come in to throw stuff, break things, steal from others and then go home to a community not ravaged by their activities.

      Of course there are certainly locals in the mix as well but I am willing to pose the idea these are not the communities producers so where they eat is at the government trough and thus damaging the economy and infrastructure “doesn’t effect them.”

      • Sure, lots of outside influences but at some point people in this town need to take ownership of this. I have no doubt there are outsiders using this as an opportunity to cause mayhem but are the outsiders the ones seen on tv last night running out of a looted liquor store? There are plenty of locals involved and it’s giving these people a free pass to blame all of this on outside agitators.

  3. I know this is rather unfeeling by me but.
    I believe they should shoot looters on sight.
    For most of these thugs its just a way to get free swag. It has nothing to do with being pissed off about a legal decision.
    Make a general announcement looters will be shot on sight and see how many go for it.

  4. I don’t understand why they picked this case to be all up in arms about. It sounded sketchy from the get go and turned out true.
    The kid shot in Walmart in Ohio is a much better cause to be pissed about.

    • It’s a pressure valve. Having this much energy focused on the murder in Walmart or no-knock raids or puppicide might actually result in some sort of reform or change since they all stem from the same “see something say something” hysteria paired with the nonsensical lethal enforcement of obsolete prohibition laws.

      So we distract with a questionable incident that has nothing to do with fostering a paranoid population, asset forfeiture or prohibition. The state knows people are pissed but the tools of fear and prohibition are too valuable to risk losing or reforming so the state uses the media, politicians and provocateurs on the street to redirect the peoples focus,

      Come with the added benefit of reigning in any “ooh-rah” bullshit conservatives who may have been wavering in their steadfast support of the police state.

      • Yes, it’s all about your issues and not gang control of a community. According to you those gangs only exist because of obsoletes laws and the police state, whatever that means.

        • It’s all a gang. The crips, bloods, police, feds…
          For all the irrational fear people have of a lack of state (force from the barrel of a gun, the one with all the guns wins, etc…) they sure do an awful lot of supporting a system that is based completely off of “the one with the most guns wins.”

          You fear it. You deride it. But it’s where we are currently.

          Somebody posted earlier “this is what anarchy looks like.” Well, no, this is what an angry mob in a Republic looks like. This is what an angry mob period looks like.

          Cops are outnumbered roughly 2,000 to 1. I don’t know why anyone is ever surprised at the states lack of ability to control an angry mob. All of our laws, all of our police, all of this perceived stability and control is just an illusion that can evaporate in an instant. A safety net for mindless plebes. Security theater at the highest level.

          Not until you accept that we currently live in a state of anarchy will you be able to find any real security. Protip: that security is not with the state.

        • Except from a previous posting you admitted that you don’t support the Constitutional Republic.

          And no this is not what a Republic looks like. This is what the Founding Fathers feared as much as a runaway government. Why do you think the District is laid out the way it is with broad avenues interrupted by traffic circles? The circles were put there for just this kind of threat. This is where cannon would be placed to sweep the oncoming mob with canister.

          You are an anarchist and you need to leave your fantasy world and accept that this is what anarchy looks like.

    • How about the infant who got burned over his face by a flash bang that landed in his crib when the erudite kicked the wrong door on a SWAT raid. There is a remedy for that type of behavior. It needs to be exercised.

  5. These rioters are idiots. I wonder just how many are there not out of concern for the community but to start something. THESE are the people who need to be separated and removed. That said, the pictures of Darren Wilson at the hospital after the altercation that fateful night are released. He appears to have a slight abrasion with some edema on the right side of his face just below his eye. Neither eye appears to be affected. I see no indication that he was receiving a beating commensurate with a fear of life situation.
    People are tired of getting their husbands, fathers, grandmothers, grandfathers, small children and dogs shot, beaten, tased and flash banged without remedy. When government agents are judged the same as the citizen in force situations this will change. They do not have a greater right to self defense than we do. However, as I previously stated, NOTHING gives the moronic rioters in Ferguson the right to do what they are doing.

    • You are absolutely right! But they certainly have no right to be free of the gang violence that accounts for almost all the deaths in the ghetto.

  6. “Where the hell is the National Guard?”

    So-called militarized polce bad, actual mitlary good. Do you realize how intellectually inconsistant that is?

    Robert, this is for you:

    I went into a public-‘ouse to get a pint o’ beer,
    The publican ‘e up an’ sez, “We serve no red-coats here.”
    The girls be’ind the bar they laughed an’ giggled fit to die,
    I outs into the street again an’ to myself sez I:
    O it’s Tommy this, an’ Tommy that, an’ “Tommy, go away”;
    But it’s “Thank you, Mister Atkins”, when the band begins to play,
    The band begins to play, my boys, the band begins to play,
    O it’s “Thank you, Mister Atkins”, when the band begins to play.

    I went into a theatre as sober as could be,
    They gave a drunk civilian room, but ‘adn’t none for me;
    They sent me to the gallery or round the music-‘alls,
    But when it comes to fightin’, Lord! they’ll shove me in the stalls!
    For it’s Tommy this, an’ Tommy that, an’ “Tommy, wait outside”;
    But it’s “Special train for Atkins” when the trooper’s on the tide,
    The troopship’s on the tide, my boys, the troopship’s on the tide,
    O it’s “Special train for Atkins” when the trooper’s on the tide.

    Yes, makin’ mock o’ uniforms that guard you while you sleep
    Is cheaper than them uniforms, an’ they’re starvation cheap;
    An’ hustlin’ drunken soldiers when they’re goin’ large a bit
    Is five times better business than paradin’ in full kit.
    Then it’s Tommy this, an’ Tommy that, an’ “Tommy, ‘ow’s yer soul?”
    But it’s “Thin red line of ‘eroes” when the drums begin to roll,
    The drums begin to roll, my boys, the drums begin to roll,
    O it’s “Thin red line of ‘eroes” when the drums begin to roll.

    We aren’t no thin red ‘eroes, nor we aren’t no blackguards too,
    But single men in barricks, most remarkable like you;
    An’ if sometimes our conduck isn’t all your fancy paints,
    Why, single men in barricks don’t grow into plaster saints;
    While it’s Tommy this, an’ Tommy that, an’ “Tommy, fall be’ind”,
    But it’s “Please to walk in front, sir”, when there’s trouble in the wind,
    There’s trouble in the wind, my boys, there’s trouble in the wind,
    O it’s “Please to walk in front, sir”, when there’s trouble in the wind.

    You talk o’ better food for us, an’ schools, an’ fires, an’ all:
    We’ll wait for extry rations if you treat us rational.
    Don’t mess about the cook-room slops, but prove it to our face
    The Widow’s Uniform is not the soldier-man’s disgrace.
    For it’s Tommy this, an’ Tommy that, an’ “Chuck him out, the brute!”
    But it’s “Saviour of ‘is country” when the guns begin to shoot;
    An’ it’s Tommy this, an’ Tommy that, an’ anything you please;
    An’ Tommy ain’t a bloomin’ fool — you bet that Tommy sees!

    • Our military is more justified in putting down looters than it is in invading foreign nations. How can you possibly not draw a distinction between general enforcement and riot control practices?

      • I posted Tommy not as paen to the military but as reminder to Robert and others who bad mouth law enforcement until they need them and no, using the military to put down civil disorder is a failure of the highest magnitude. If you are concerned about SWAT you should be really concerned when armed soldiers are patroling streets like it’s Northern Ireland or some banana republic. That squarly puts us on the road to dictatorship.

        • Kipling is once of my favorite English language writers. I once recited a selection from “Tommy” at a veteran’s convention. The vets shared Kipling’s rage.

          If American veterans want a fair shake, I’m afraid they will have to go to Mexico, toss away their papers and get caught crossing the border into Texas. The feds will take care of them. Otherwise, Bradley Manning will get his sex change at government expense before a sick veteran can get an appointment at a VA facility.

          Plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose.

        • Just a couple of minor points of interest. First, what exactly have these police done to protect any lives or property other than their own? Each and every night the animals run free, businesses are burned, looted. So far no one in the crowd has been killed, but it will only be a matter of time before some drug/gang score is settled in one of those ‘protests’. Only a handful of arrests for triviaI nonsense, there are no laws being enforced in Ferguson right now. They blocked an Interstate highway. Knowing what happened to Reginald Denny, the trucker they trapped was taking a huge risk not just running them all over.

          Did these brave public servants get out the fire hoses, dogs, APCs, tear gas, something? Nope, they let them all escape after putting many innocent people’s lives in jeopardy. Insane. They’ll just do it again worse. And eventually some poor white person will be dragged from a car as an offering to the gods of stupid. They’ve already been attacking white people at these ‘peaceful’ rallies, you just won’t see it on the nationals.

          While the Natty Guard is part of the military, it is day and night different than using the regular Army. These are locals with a much different way of thinking than a fully trained jarhead.

          I know the police cannot protect me, nor labor under any legal obligation to do so. Proved yet again last night. Any bets it will happen again tonight?

  7. In August, the police were criticized for their forceful response to rioters. Organizations across the political spectrum – from the Tea Party to the ACLU – asked for more police restraint following the grand jury decision. Police obliged. Now they’re being criticized for their lack of response to rioters.

    Damned if you do, and, well … you know the rest.

    On a side note, TTAG, I’ve just gotta say that I LOVE the new monstrously sized and aggressively placed ads on your site. You think I may like “Jill Duggar’s Wedding Dress Is Better Than Anything We Could’ve Imagined,” or “20 Disney Starlets: Then And Now!” As a matter of fact, I like both! Thanks so much for the suggestions!

    • Well David. You got two options, since Robert has to actually pay real money to provide this site for our viewing pleasure.

      You can pay money every time you come on this site or pay a monthly subscription; or the advertisers can pay Robert so we can then come on this site for free.

      Which would you prefer?

      Unless you think having access to this site is some kind of right and Robert should just pay out of his own pocket out of the kindness of his heart. Which would make you a communist; one of the most homicidal and tyrannical belief systems in existence today.

  8. I want to know where all the MRAPs are! The police use these all the time and when they really need them, none are to be found. Seems like an impossible coincidence to me.

  9. I think the local authorities played it genius. The media is free to video all the crooks and felons acting completely lawless, no cops get killed saving The Dollar Store merchandise. Let everyone see what animals they are. Let them burn their own town to ground. The casualties are the poor business owners unfortunately.
