 Henry Porter (courtesy theguardian.com)

Historians are re-considering the events that led to the birth of the United States. While the colonists’ displeasure at taxation without representation still lies at the center of the split from British control, historians are beginning to recognize the Brits’ efforts to confiscate guns and gunpowder as a (if not the) critical component of the colonists’ radicalization. What’s clear: the Second Amendment was written in the aftermath of British gun control as a prophylactic against a repeat performance by the newly formed federal government. All of which means it’s galling beyond imagination to read this in the UK’s left-leaning Guardian newspaper . . .

That’s America, we say, as news of the latest massacre breaks – last week it was the slaughter of 12 people by Aaron Alexis at Washington DC’s navy yard – and move on. But what if we no longer thought of this as just a problem for America and, instead, viewed it as an international humanitarian crisis – a quasi civil war, if you like, that calls for outside intervention? As citizens of the world, perhaps we should demand an end to the unimaginable suffering of victims and their families – the maiming and killing of children – just as America does in every new civil conflict around the globe.

So a member of Britain’s disarmed intelligentsia—one Henry Porter [above]—reckons it’s time for “the world” to interfere with Americans’ natural, civil and Constitutionally protected right to keep and bear arms. Other than say FOAD (again), I’d like to point out that the UK suffers more violent crime per head of population than the United States. While comparisons are difficult (given the way crime stats are gathered) politifact.com recently took a stab at it (so to speak):

For England and Wales, we added together three crime categories: “violence against the person, with injury,” “most serious sexual crime,” and “robbery.” This produced a rate of 775 violent crimes per 100,000 people.

For the United States, we used the FBI’s four standard categories for violent crime that Bier cited. We came up with a rate of 383 violent crimes per 100,000 people.

Whether or not Mr. Porter accepts the facts of the matter, and I bet he won’t, I’d like to posit a simple question: how dare you judge us?

While you may consider yourself a “citizen of the world,” you are, in fact, a subject of the Queen. Your country does not have a written constitution. Your natural rights—such as free speech and self-defense—are not enshrined in law. No surprise, then, that they’re disappearing before your eyes. You no longer have an unfettered right to remain silent. Your Army can commandeer private property and plop a missile battery on the roof. You live in most surveilled country on planet earth. Etc.

The annual toll from firearms in the US is running at 32,000 deaths and climbing, even though the general crime rate is on a downward path (it is 40% lower than in 1980). If this perennial slaughter doesn’t qualify for intercession by the UN and all relevant NGOs, it is hard to know what does.

Setting aside the fact that suicides account for roughly half of all U.S. firearms-related deaths (mentioned at the link but strangely missing from your polemic), and that gang bangers account for at least half of the remaining half, how about you organize a champagne socialist brigade and invade U.S. hospitals? According to propublica.org, medical malpractice claims some 210 thousand lives per year in the U.S.

We’re both joking, of course. Ish. Only it’s not funny, is it? Not for you, who sees U.S. gun rights as a deadly anachronism. Or me, who sees your failure to grasp the lessons of history as a sign that your once great nation is falling prey to the same sort of deadly tyranny that our countries joined forces to defeat.

Half the country is sane and rational while the other half simply doesn’t grasp the inconsistencies and historic lunacy of its position, which springs from the second amendment right to keep and bear arms, and is derived from English common law and our 1689 Bill of Rights. We dispensed with these rights long ago, but American gun owners cleave to them with the tenacity that previous generations fought to continue slavery. Astonishingly, when owning a gun is not about ludicrous macho fantasy, it is mostly seen as a matter of personal safety, like the airbag in the new Ford pick-up or avoiding secondary smoke, despite conclusive evidence that people become less safe as gun ownership rises . . .

Talking to American friends, I always sense a kind of despair that the gun lobby is too powerful to challenge and that nothing will ever change. The same resignation was evident in President Obama’s rather lifeless reaction to the Washington shooting last week. There is absolutely nothing he can do, which underscores the fact that America is in a jam and that international pressure may be one way of reducing the slaughter over the next generation. This has reached the point where it has ceased to be a domestic issue. The world cannot stand idly by.

Heads up Hank: screw your stats (which don’t bear proper scrutiny). More to the point, we, The People of the Gun, are the American gun lobby. The NRA and all the rest of the political activists speaking on our behalf do so because we agree with their agenda: to defend and extend our right to keep and bear arms in order to protect the way of life envisioned by our founding fathers.

Not only can you stand idly by while we determine our own fate according to our own values and our written Constitution, but you will. Thanks to the blood of American patriots we control our own destiny. As long as Americans cherish their right to keep and bear arms, you will never ever have that power again.

So lie back and think of England Henry, as the guardians of liberty get on with it. For your sake as well as ours. [h/t Pascal]

  1. Considering Britian is so violent Tom Cruise had to halt a robbery attempt on his neighbor in the “Rich B!tch” section of London,is say were not the country with a humanitarian safety crisis. All things being equal,it’s more humane to be shot instead of being gutted like a fish.

  2. Maybe he should worry about the gun violence in Russia since their murder rate is 5 times higher than ours.

    • Or Brazil. I’m originally from there and my family knows plenty of people who have been robbed, assaulted, or murdered. These are not people in high-risk lifestyles. These are regular middle class people going about their business.

Brazil has many of the laws anti-gun people would like to see here plus some others such as caliber restrictions. It doesn’t work. Criminals get guns all sorts of ways (including buying them from corrupt police), and the people are defenseless.

    • Actually I misspoke with Russia, their murder rate is only 2.125 times higher than ours. I just figured since it was in Europe that might be a good place for nosy Brit to stick his nose. But perhaps it would be better for him to spout off concerning the violence in the British colony of Bermuda which has a murder rate 2.5625 times higher. Or perhaps he should be concerned with the good folks in Honduras with their murder rate that’s over 19 times higher than ours. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder_rates#By_country

    • Leaving out all the indigenous peoples the British have slaughter in their colonies over the centuries…The American military bailed them out in WW I after how many millions of young Brits were sent to the front and slaughtered in the trenches by the incompetence of their generals, and the fact that we had to come again in WW II and save their assess, then how, exactly, does he think they are going to come to our shores, inside our borders, and face an armed populace with many hundred million personally owned firearms? Virgin Airlines?

Then we need to discuss (disgust?) the U.N. which would not survive long enough for their idiot statist representatives to pack and leave the country if our tax dollars were not paying the majority of its expenses. Not to mention if we simply take back the real estate that preposterous building is sitting on and just evict the rotten bastards. I vote we call Controlled Demolition and let them film a Discovery Channel special while we watch that edifice implode.

International intervention in our political rights? Yeah, good luck with that.

      • Dirty, commie Brit. WWl and ll broke their beaks. Maybe their expanding Muslim population (with their “tender mercies”) will straighten them out…..NOT.

        • Well, what do you expect? They had their countries strongest and bravest young men slaughtered in WWI, then had the bravest children of the ones that were too weak to be drafted slaughtered in WWII. The UK basically underwent reverse eugenics for 1/2 a century leaving them the weak sad shell of a dead empire they are today.

  3. Ha, that’s good. I needed a hearty laugh to keep from crying after the Giants got whipped today. So, Harry Potter wants to take my firearms ? Ok, come and take them.

  4. This man needs to stay the fuck out of American issues and if he thinks the UN is worth a damn as a peace keepung force lets see how many shit holes went down the tubes and how effective the UN really is here’s a hint… IT’S NOT the UN can piss and moan all they want yet Iran and N. Korea still have nukes despite the UN embargoes and sanctions the UN is a paper tiger at best it does nothing but give member nations the warm and fuzzies. England needs to stay out of our affairs if it wasn’t for our guns they would have fallen to the Germans in WWII. This rag article seems to be a frustrated re animation of British angst over losing the revolution to a bunch of hillbillies farmers and rogues with guns.

  5. UK has made itself gun free zone to end violence. How’s that working out for you? Or is violence the problem, not guns?

Note that the entire Bill of Rights, the first Ten Amendments, were written because the authors were afraid of tyranny, and felt these would deter it. No argument from me!

    • Umm its workin out great for them minus people being hacked to pieces in the streets in broad day light and then the muggings and rapes but hey no one is being shot so there’s that

    • Just like the first time; don’t fire until you see the whites of their eyes. This time, don’t fire until you see their eyes in your scope!

        • What blue helmet?? UN peace keepers are too scared to leave their bases anywhere else why would they do it here? At best the UN troops are a paper tiger at worst they are outright cowards.

        • The worst blue helmets have to face in other countries are barely literate goatherds with Kalashnikovs. America has folks with all manner of interesting ordinance from .22LR to .50BMG, some of which gives a good rifleman the option of which eyeball on that blue helmeted head to shoot through at 600 yards. their bases will not save them, either, not from evil minded rednecks with ANFO.

You wanna see Vietnam look like a stroll through a cherry orchard? Invade America.

  6. This douche needs to stay the fvck out of American interests so does the UN maybe the world should look at the UN’s track record it speaks for itself they have yet to prevent a war or keep peace anywhere without the US military doing it for them. Mr. Porter seems to have a lot of misplaced angst that Britain the great civilization of the ancient world has fallen so far after being beaten by a bunch of backwoods rogues and colonists with guns… How dare the unwashed masses continue to defy her majesty!? Or do you forget Britain would not be here if it weren’t for the US in WWII?? ok now I’m better sorry yall

  7. Bring it. Hope to see him at the front of their charge along with Piers Morgan. Lets see what percent of America supports the 2nd Amendment with an active invasion going on. Maybe we’ll welcome them with open arms as liberators? Yeah, thats never the case with invasions, is it? May be the best thing that could happen to the country, finding out we truly have no friends left in the world. Better than seeing the commander in chief do his sad little dance trying to curry favor and shedding the last bits of dignity our country has.

    • I was going to say, “They wouldn’t dare. There would be a gun behind every blade of grass, so to speak.” but I see you’ve beaten me to the punchline. ;-D

  8. Henry Porter,
    Spoken like a true socialist.

Paraphrased: I don’t like your culture or your social policy. I want to get involved and interfere even though I have no right and it is none of my business.

    • Too much like hard work. Why fix real problems at home, when you can get paid for an inflammatory column? He doesn’t care that the stupid is strong with his writing, all he (and the Guardian) really care about is that lots of people are viewing and commenting. It’s called “clickbait”.

He probably does believe some version of what he’s writing, but then he’s published in the Guardian which is a soggily left-wing newspaper even by UK standards (and with a declining circulation, perhaps because they come out with nonsense like this).

Enjoy mocking him and his stupid, just don’t assume many UK citizens are listening to him to do more than point and laugh.

  9. I think the some counrtys who have issue with are counrty need get there act together before claim they can come fix are counrty issues. You do not see alot public riots in street that see in are counrty happening in are counrty. The fact many people from differnt counrty want come here enjoy are rights like right owen gun say alot about most people want take them way from differnt counrtys .

  10. The World Should “Intervene” to Stop America’s Gun Violence. I sort of like that, but lets make a minor change. Drop America, and Gun. The world should intervene to stop violence. Let’s start with the countries with the most violence and work down. I think right now, that might be Syria. But didn’t Britten just vote to not intervene in Syria? So I guess they really aren’t interested.
If they really wanted to try, think of what the US Navy could do to make them change their minds. I don’t think we (gun owners) would every have to get involved.

  11. Soooo……”gun violence” is an international problem, eh, requiring an international response? Well. The British Parliament held a vote basically five minutes ago to abstain from intervening in Syria’s armed uprising, which has reportedly claimed some 100,000 innocent or not so innocent lives within the last couple of years. Some of which lives lost presumably were at the end of genuine assault rifles clandestinely supplied to nameless, faceless, background checkless “insurgents” by the U.S.

Yet, this jack wagon wants to hassle America about a spree killing of disarmed sitting ducks in one of the allegedly gun-freest facilities in the city, in one of the allegedly gun-freest cities in the country, committed by one of the most background-checked individuals in the federal government? Oh that’s rich!

  12. So Obama just spoke at the memorial (had a news conference).
Apparently the only way to honor the slain is to take our rights away.
A speech/lecture made literally standing on their warm graves.
I wonder how the soldiers feel about such a grim spectacle.

  13. Let’s see, a UN led coalition of troops. British, Dutch, Belgium and Italian. Blue helmets and White vehicles. Just for arguments sake they can find enough ships to carry them to our shores. And just for arguments sake they make it past the US Navy and AirForce.

And then the argument ends. That’s when they encounter the first US Marines.

    • Heck, there are enough guys that are as crazy as I am that I don’t think the Marines would get their fair share.

Never underestimate the roadtripabilaty of a Kokesh supporter.

    • No British troops, we’ve got a note from our Mum (well, okay, from the Prime Minister) that we’re not doing any major overseas operations for a few years once we’re out of Afghanistan. He wants to contribute to Op DISARM YANKEE, he needs to get the Treasury to write some big cheques first, which isn’t going to happen for something this silly.

Besides, most of the British military would be much less interested in confiscating your guns, and far keener on “That’s really nice, if I can have a go with it you can hide it and nobody saw nothing…” (I know, because on Tuesdays and weekends that’s me 🙂 )

      • That’s what I reckoned too: the vast majority of British soldiers and Marines would side with those they fought beside.

      • If it does, then any pretense is over. If my government conspires with foreign powers to bring foreign troops here to use against the American people then it’s weapons free as far as I’m concerned.

But I really see the probability of an overt act of treason on that magnitude as being less than 1%.

  14. Mr. Henry Porter is sorely mistaken.

Let’s begin with homicides in the U.S. where the criminal used a firearm for his/her murder weapon. According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Uniform Crime Reports, that happened less than 9,000 times in the latest year that data is available (2012 I believe). Therefore, of Mr. Porter’s claimed 32,000 people who died from gunshot wounds last year, 23,000 were suicides.

Next, let’s look at deaths from gang and illegal narcotic distribution activity. According to many different sources, that totals at least 80% of violent assaults and murders. Thus, of the less than 9,000 people who died at the hands of a criminal using a firearm, gangs and drug dealers committed at least 7,200 of those upon other criminals. Therefore, some mix of ex-convicts and citizens with no prior criminal record committed the remaining 1,200 or so homicides with firearms. Let’s make sure that is perfectly clear: only 1,200 or so citizens are homicide victims of criminals using firearms every year. (The 7,200 other homicide victims were criminals engaged in criminal activity when another criminal murdered them with a firearm.)

In a nation of about 310 million people, something like 1,200 citizens dying annually from criminals who used firearms is not a reason for intervention from any foreign nation.

While I regret the loss of people who use firearms to commit suicide, that is not a reason for intervention from a foreign nation either — especially given that other countries have higher suicide rates than the United States.

And whatever someone’s feelings about the loss of life of criminals engaged in criminal activity, that is most definitely not sufficient reason for intervention from a foreign nation.

If some other country or the United Nations tries bringing troops into the United States to strong arm the populace because of the death of 1,200 citizens annually, there will be dead bodies in the streets — and most of them will the troops of the foreign nation/s.

Not to be overlooked, if the U.S. government invites troops to invade our nation and assault our citizens, the people responsible in the U.S. government who are responsible for that invitation will be guilty of treason.

  15. International socialists (Progs) want to disarm America? I’m absolutely shocked. Seriously, though, I don’t expect to see powder blue helmets in my neighborhood anytime soon.

  16. You know if this didn’t piss me off so much it mightve been funny but i find this whole gun arguement anymore to be pretty ironic. Pr0n made it to the mainstream yet gun owners still have to hang out in dark alleyways and pray our friends and neighbors don’t find out

    • I wondered how long it would take for a Molon Labe comment to come out. Took a surprisingly long time. (Although some people above did say so much in English.)

  17. He does make a valid point on one thing. American leaders always push their values and agenda on other countries. Our politicians see something going on in some other country and they feel this need to interject…..right or wrong is a matter of opinion.

  18. OK, I’ll play. Send the UN into Detroit, Chicago and DC. Just 3 cities, ought to be easy. Then come on down here to Texas. See if an entire UN column can handle several drunk rednecks in pickup trucks.

Oh, and since it was your idea Mr. Potter, we’ll expect you to lead the charge into all these areas. It’s easy to tell other people what to do. Put your asterisk where your mouth is!

  19. There is a good reason to exclude suicides from when comparing the US and the UK. Both countries have identical suicide rates.

I also see a disturbing trend in Britain. It seems like they wish to undo the American Revolution and return the colonies to Crown control. While I being a bit tongue in cheek I really think that journalists and social commentators like Porter wish it were so.

    • Just a guess, but I suspect that if you polled the Brits you would find more wanted to swap their system for ours than vice versa. Assuming we let them keep the whole monarchy bit.

  20. God, I appreciate the honesty of this kind. I’ve had to be a good boy through all of this. I’ve minded my temper, I’ve played house. When they wanted to fight, I’m stuck calling congressmen and sending money, since anything more is uncivilized.

And now there’s this son of a bitch, calling for a “coalition” to invade my country.
Finally. Finally. A gun control precinct I can actually fight. No more pussy Bloomberg, hiding behind his money and his guards. No more bitches from MDA, who I can’t give a piece of my mind because that’s mean, picking on moms.
A motley crew of blue helmets, helmmed by the original nanny state herself.

I gots my fingers crossed. C’mon over, Tommy’s! Its just like hotel California here- check in any time you like, but you can NEVER leave.

    • I hear what your saying, but the reality is that this pu$$y would never come to the US to force disarmament on all of us cowboys. I don’t get the impression that he would tolerate personal risk, nor that he would be any good in a fight.

    • I just keep thinking this will be the only way I would EVER get my hands on a MP5… is it wrong to think that this would be Christmas come early?!?!

  21. Let them judge us. Why should we reserve our contempt for people in the Middle East, Africa and Asia when there are so many royal @ss-kissing Brits that we can despise.

    • Everyone here needs to go to the Guardian website & read the comments of actual Brits who read the article.

They are of a culture that is alien to ours. Britons regard their quasi-socialistic society as morally superior to our own and actually believe that the rest of the world’s opinion about America should make us Yanks pause & reflect. The author is truly proud that as British they long ago surrendered English common law rights that we still hold as dear.

I for one hope that some Brit sees this website & forwards it to the Guardian. Let them sneer while wondering if they’ll be murdered by some Muslim either on the street or in their bed.

  22. Something I think everyone is missing, is that we currently have a president
and administration that not only agrees but is more than willing to cede
our sovereignty. They’ve already tried with the UN Small Arms Treaty. If the
‘Bamster et al think they could use this as an excuse to curtail civil rights,
particularly the 1st and 2nd Amendments, don’t you think they’ll try.

    • “…we currently have a president and administration that not only agrees but is more than willing to cede our sovereignty.”

Thankfully there is absolutely no provision in The Constitution of the United States of America that gives any branch of the government the authority to cede our sovereignty. Can’t even use an Executive Order. I’m not even sure how, based on the powers outlined in the Constitution, we would hand over a surrender on the long possibility that should ever be necessary. I’m pretty sure that even a treaty negotiated by the president and approved by the Senate would not be binding if it violated the tenets of the Constitution.

Since every public official takes an oath to support and defend the Constitution any attempt to cede sovereignty is by default an act of treason. I believe the Constitution does address that subject.

      • “Since every public official takes an oath to support and defend the Constitution any attempt to cede sovereignty is by default an act of treason. I believe the Constitution does address that subject.”

Freedom is my Worship Word, and the Constitution is my Bible. 😉

      • Yes, there is that “out dated” piece of paper that hinders progressives
from blatantly taking over. But so far it hasn’t stopped the government
from finding new way to explain away civil rights and regulate the
crap out of them. I’ll I’m saying is don’t get to confident that the
constitution will stop those that already see little need to uphold and
        defend it.

  23. I see they closed the comments for that one pretty durn quickly.

If they don’t have the guts to listen to what we might have to say on the issue, I doubt they have the guts to try to come over here and disarm us.

  24. Yeah, says a Brit. The Brits went around and killed more people and screwed with more countries than anyone and committed a ton of human rights violations in the process. The world is still dealing with the consequences of British intervention in a little place called The Middle East. Monarchists, Imperialists, come and get it.

  25. No guns in Britain has really helped out with crime control there hasn’t it?Get your own act together before you stick your nose elsewhere! Also if the world wants to come here to take our God given rights away, they better bring a lot of body bags with them.Because it will be open season on foreign troops.Be prepared and ready.Keep your powder dry.

    • Please, gentlemen, please!

Do NOT encourage them to bring body bags! There are any number of manufacturers in this country that will be happy to supply their needs with gross lots at wholesale prices. Shipping and handling extra. Cash only, U.S. dollars, please.

  26. “Not only can you stand idly by while we determine our own fate according to our own values and our written Constitution, but you will.”

Love it. Lay back and think of England? Classic. One of your best, RF

  27. Gee, this guy is essentially threatening war on the people of the United States. Does he realize that the world governments will not be able to muster enough soldiers to subdue the people of the US. It has been a long time since any government other than the US was able to field anything bigger than a small token force. I am tired of these liberal whack jobs talking smack. If they really want to reset the political clock back to 1776, by all means, do it. In the end, the result will be the same – America will remain free.

  28. Since England leads the “civilized” world in soldiers beheaded in broad daylight in London, maybe we should intervene to stop England’s meat cleaver violence.

  29. Oh pLease please PLease let them come…. UN troops should be muuuch cheaper than steel targets…………. and to be honest in 1776 americans had yet to discover the joys of tooling up…..

Oooh and were not pulling your asses out of the fire next time either…….

  30. Wow, that British fella is quite a laugh. Last time I was in London, I couldn’t sleep and I was watching the BBC cover Obamacare being voted on. They had a collective orgasm when it passed and I thought it strange. Why do they care so much about what happens on these shores?

  31. Mr. Porter, you effete, limey, wanker git. Bring it, bitch.

You know, I think that it’s high time for us to bring a new American Revolution to the the Land of Hope and Glory. They need to be set free and it’s all too clear that they are incapable of doing it themselves. It’s not like we’d meet a lot of resistance or anything. And when you think about, don’t they really deserve some sort of deliverance from their spineless Nanny-state overseers? In the name of Western Civilization, at least what’s left of it?

      • “Funny you should say that. Someone once told me that defense is NOT the point of a citizen militia. It’s liberation.”

In what category would you put “Defense of Liberty?”

  32. As citizens of the world, perhaps we should demand an end to the unimaginable suffering of victims and their families – the maiming and killing of children – just as America does in every new civil conflict around the globe.

I agree. America should keep our nose out of other people’s business. And you should keep your nose out of our’s.

  33. That reporter is either a complete fool or else trolling for readers with a rather obviously contrived to be controversial message.

The better part if this is hearing man after man stand up and shout Molon Labe! I’m not exaggerating when I say it gives me chills and makes me proud to be an American.

  34. Nobody reads the Guardian anyway. It’s circulation is vastly outnumbered by the right leaning papers.
Unfortunately, the BBC acts like it’s the media arm of the Guardian, pushing a minority view onto the public which is starting to piss people off.
There were plenty of articles and blog pieces in the press over here (again) saying it’s the man behind the gun, not the gun itself.
I read a great comment in one Brit blog saying that, after Obama played the “that could have been my son” card in the TM case, he’s waitng for Barry to point at the black gunman and say “that could have been me.”
    (We’re still waiting….)

  35. If the world try’s to get involved the world will see how well armed Americans are, and how well we can shoot. For the only way for the “world” to do anything about it is to invade. And on top of that we are not the most violent country out there.

  36. England had its time of destroying large swaths of humanity all over the world with little thought to the morals of it. If I was them, I, too, would hang my head in shame hide beneath the covers. Unfortunately, they still have the means to share their opinions with the rest of the world.

  37. Go ahead, Airstrip One, try to come and take them. You tried to take them in 1776 and started a war that ended in the defeat of the most powerful military in the world. You tried again in 1812 and got defeated a second time. We thought you had learned your lesson after that but I guess not. Go ahead and try, a foreign invasion with the intent to disarm America will do nothing but build further support our cause.

  38. This is what happens when a writer gets all of his information from his own media – they begin to beleive their own fiction, and are more that happy to regurgitate it. Each time it comes up more and more devoid of any nutrition of truth.

  39. Think one of the major makers could release Andy Jackson commemorative edition AR`15 and AR10?

Which begs the question: where is the bicentennial celebration for War of 1812?

  40. My observations about the wanker whose name is just a few letters from the the fictional Harry Potter –

Recall that US shooters literally and figuratively saved your country during World Wars I and II.

Note that the US provides most of the battlefield manpower to the UN.

The world headquarters of the UN is located in Manhattan, NY, USA. Should it be moved for safety reasons? Perhaps your home should be demolished for the new site?

The US contributes more than half of the UNs operating budget each year. If we were invaded by them, that cash would stop suddenly, so England would probably be obligated to pick up the tab, since they were the proponent.

Here’s a number for you to call to discuss these points further: 1-800-EAT-SH17.

    FOAD.

  41. hahahaha intervene…If you really want to see how nasty gun violence can be, try to “intervene”… see how that works out for ya.

  42. lets see how the gun grabbers like troops with rifles in their streets and coffie houses, they cant even get past concealed carriers without p!ssing themselves

  43. “We dispensed with these rights long ago”

And pretty much every other right of free people – that is because the British are subjects of their rulers, not free citizens.

“… international pressure may be one way of reducing the slaughter over the next generation. This has reached the point where it has ceased to be a domestic issue. The world cannot stand idly by.”

And I would suggest that “the world” send in the UN armed forces, with their pretty little baby blue helmets. We would refer to that as “a target-rich environment.”

  44. I think ,since they’re unarmed anyway,we should finish off what the Germans started and invade them ,just to teach them a lesson. What the Brits need to remember was it was the NRA that Roosevelt asked to arm the civilian populas for the British Civil Defense, and they still have OUR lend lease guns somewhere.B

    • Dumped in the ocean or buried under cement sidewalks. Hey, after we beat the Nazis for them the Brits went back to being disarmed sheep.

  45. Tell him to call back when Britain has found a way to stop the UK’s brick, hammer, knife, rock, paper, scissors crime violence.

“‘Among the many misdeeds of the British rule in India, history will look upon the Act depriving a whole nation of arms as the blackest.” ~Ghandi

  46. I can picture Barry clutching this article to his heart, weeping with delight that somebody, somewhere understands him. I can see him planning to move to the UK, where others of his ilk gather and quaff chardonnay as they plan the liberation of the embattled citizens of the USA. Oh, the disappointment when he realizes that it won’t work. Damn the NRA!

The UK used to be a safe place, when all this disarmament happened. Their Northern cities have now been taken over by Muslim immigrants from Pakistan, most of whom espouse radical views. If ever there was a state of insanity, that state is the UK. An object lesson on what to avoid.

    2) How much influence Englishmen would have on firearms policy in the US was settled in 1783 (Treaty of Paris).

  48. well mr “reminiscent of Ghengis Khan” Kerry did sign us on to the UN arms reduction treaty today.
Mr Yamamoto was on the wrong side but an observant soldier.

  49. We kicked their a$$’s out in 1776.
We bailed their a$$’s out in WW I and WW II.
