As fox4kc.com is reporting, “A Wyandotte County sheriff’s deputy died on Friday after a shooting that happened while a suspect was being moved from court back to the jail. The suspect was also struck in the shooting. The other deputy is in critical condition.”
One of the two deputies was apparently disarmed by the prisoner in front of the Kansas City, Kansas courthouse in the process of transporting him back to the county jail. The prisoner shot both deputies before he was shot as well. The suspect and the surviving deputy are in critical condition.
Kansas City, not even once.

One of the deputies was a woman but reports about exactly what happened are rather circumspect. Per the sheriff’s spokesperson, the “deputies were overcome” – note the plural – and “It is very possible that with their own firearm — they were both shot”. So it sounds like the deputies were sharing one weapon between them, and the perp overpowered them both at the same time, singlehandedly. Either that or the sheriff’s office is tying itself in verbal pretzels trying to avoid giving away specifics.
When I read the title my first guess was it would turn out to be an overweight male, a woman and a black prisoner. An educated guess, so to speak.
This guy was tried twice for a murder he committed in 2015, both juries hung. Then he apparently killed one of the witnesses, which is what he was in court for today. Supposedly, he’s confessed to a total of our murders, and now he’s got five.
Oh, and yeah, he’s black.
Could be she had the gun and her partner had the bullet, and they were unable to activate their wonder twin powers in time to subdue the perp.

Even the FBI acknowledge most people shot do NOT die. So while FIVE people were shot, only ONE person died. And the perpetrator is in custody. I will concede the event happened but this is NOT an event to justify all other person’s owning firearms must have them seized for public safety.
