I swore I wasn’t going to blog this Christmas. Much. But then the Chief of Police in Webster, New York said the crazed fireman killer used a Bushmaster. The D.C. police admitted they were investigating NBC’s David Gregory for brandishing an illegal-in-D.C. standard capacity AR-15 mag. And, well, stuff. Including the NY Daily News‘ ongoing petition to ban assault weapons. The article includes this photo caption to the image above: “Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly signs the Daily News gun control petition Tuesday.” And here’s the swearing in ceremony for the NYPD. Something about upholding the Constitution of the United States . . .

And just in case the Mail’s campaign might alienate [potential] readers too young to say “get off my lawn,” the paper offers Gamers push back: ‘Guns should be banned, not video games’How did they find that guy anyway?

Nick’s written about hunter FUD re: “assault weapons” (and silencers). NPR saw the opening and took it [above].

You want to talk about irrational? “Part of this [doubt about having a gun for home defense] is being black and having in your actual family history–and in the history of your immediate community–several instances of people (white, black, whatever) invading the home.” Gun Violence And The Irrational Fear Of Home Invasion theatlantic.com

Funny but not but yes. “Mom told me she was gonna get me a gun for Christmas but it was to[o] much paperwork.” Brian Schwintenberg’s Xmas Tweet

I wonder who supplied that gun? Afghan Police Officer Kills 5 Companions in Their Beds laht.com

“This shouldn’t be the end of the debate over what to do about guns in America, as the gun lobby would clearly prefer.” See what they did there? usatoday.com

“Most of those here today … have either shot somebody or been shot.” Rev. Jackson asks inmates to help end gun violence but won’t tell the chicagotribune.com how that might happen. Such as . . . stay where you are?

Even as we celebrate the season of peace, love and understanding we should never forget what can happen to the defenseless in the face of evil. Ignorance is no excuse. wsj.com

Again, Merry Christmas.

  1. Everyday I lose respect for more and more Americans. This is getting ridiculous how they care so little about the Constitution.

    • Because the teachers who are supposed to educate them don’t do their job. The Constitution is usually glossed over or flat out ignored in our schools.

  2. Don’t have too much use for cops as a means to protect me from violence. Honest cops will admit the same. But, I promise I’ll give up my standard capacity magazines when they give up theirs.

    • This is what the libtards dont (or cant) see. They hate (or at least dislike and distrust) the law enforcement and military establishment, yet want to give them even more power over the common sitizen by removing (at the least) our semiauto capability. A strange paradox that has turned the skin from the backs of young jewish girls in 40’s Germany into……lamp shades.
The moral of the story for my stupid liberal friends: Dont be a freakin lamp shade, bar of soap, or tiny ash pile. Wise up, ladies.

    • Preach on! Around here, some local mayors have plain clothes officers escorting them all over the place. Ridiculous waste!

  3. Sure, the guy in the NPR piece isn’t into modern sporting rifles, but at least he drives home the point that most gun owners are responsible and law abiding. He also says he’d feel like his kids were safer if armed guards were in their school.

Those views are probably pretty foreign to the average NPR listener, and I’m glad they let him talk.

  4. “Sauce for the goose or, home address and phone number of Journal-News publisher

White Plains newspaper The Journal- News, a Gannett publication, has published the full name and address of every licensed pistol permit holder in three New York counties. I don’t know whether the Journal’s publisher Janet Hasson is a permit holder herself, but here’s how to find her to ask:

Janet Hasson, 3 Gate House Lane, Mamaroneck, NY 10534.

Phone number: (248) 594-2197; you might also try (914) 525-1923, but the area code is just a guess on the assumption that this number is a land line.

Here’s a photo showing her Mamaroneck house – interior shots are on Zillow:

UPDATE: From reader RJS: Gannett’s CEO-

    Gracia C Martore
    728 Springvale Rd
    Great Falls, VA 22066

The reporter on the story is

    Dwight R Worley

Janet Hasson herself is married with one child, and her personal interests, as culled from her credit card records, are noted below:”

      — Someone who commented after the great post provided that information. I have not personally verified any of it.

OK, another person put in the following info:

      Editors:
—Cyndee Royle, 1133 Westchester Ave., Suite N110, White Plains, NY 10604, 914-694-9300
–Nancy Cutler 9 Woodwind Ln, Spring Valley, NY. (845) 354 3485

      • This is so funny how pro 2A Americans are finally saying enough is enough all over the web, calling for boycotts, and giving the arrogant Ms.-Information media a return kick.

        Here are some more comments:

“Hope she enjoys receiving a bunch of free catalogs from firearms manufacturers.”

“Three close neighbors of hers are on the list. Bet they’re happy. 11 in her small neighborhood.”
“That should make for interesting conversation over the brie and chardonnay.”

“Merry Christmas, Janet. You may want to become one of those permit holders yourself after your address and personal details have been made public because burglars feel a lot safer knowing the residents are not armed, I’m sure.”

“These people remind me of the groups who harass hunters in the field, banging kettles, calling us murderers and scum and all the while feeling perfectly safe because they know that hunters are not, in fact, murderers and will not harm them.”

“Janet Hasson can be found on http://www.linkedin.com
        twitter.com/janhasson”

“It’s long past the time where this game is played using the same rules for both sides.”

“Nice place she has there and now the criminals know the layout and that there are no firearms present to inhibit their work. How’s it feel to be on the receiving end, Janet? You leftist swine.”

“I wonder if she’s gonna remain a big fan of having personal info plastered over the internet?”

    • The “248” area code is suburban Detroit area. That has to be a cell phone number and is the most appropriate to call since she probably kept an old number so friends could “stay in touch”.

  5. Two things that maybe TTAG readers can help me with:

    1) NYC Police Commissioner sure does dress well with his police salary and Martin Greenfield handmade suits at $1,000-$1,800 a pop . . . . Wonder if there is a police discount? better yet, wondering how he can afford them and live in NYC? http://a856-gbol.nyc.gov/gbolwebsite/57.html

or maybe there is more to this: http://policemafia.com/

    Just saying. . . . . .

    2) @Robert Farago – you should do a story on Jesse Jr. He has a IL FOID card (http://daysofourtrailers.blogspot.com/2012/08/jesse-jackson-jrs-foid-card.html), allegedly has a number of handguns in his Chicago home that he uses at a south (of) chicago range, and has admitted in writing (a statement against interests) on his official congressional letterhead to his congressional colleagues no less that he suffered (suffers pending indictment negotiations) depression and other mental illness/conditions that appear to be disqualifying him from owning weapons (http://www.ilga.gov/legislation/ilcs/ilcs3.asp?ActID=1657&ChapAct=430%26nbsp%3BILCS%26nbsp%3B65%2F&ChapterID=39&ChapterName=PUBLIC%2BSAFETY&ActName=Firearm%2BOwners%2BIdentification%2BCard%2BAct.), but . . . . has he turned his guns in yet?

I know my Michigan law degree is no match for his (not much) fancier Georgetown degree, http://grad-schools.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-graduate-schools/top-law-schools/law-rankings (just kidding), but being a licensed IL attorney, I am willing to bet Jr. is committing a felony. Hmmmm.

  6. The comment below was posted by a detective in response to his identity full name and home information posted by the Journal News.

“My name and address appear on that map and to say the least, I’m pissed. In all my years as a LEO, I listed my telephone using a pseudonym and my vehicles and driver’s license came back to a post office box. Now these idiots have identified my address. All the cases I worked as a detective involved career criminals and lots and lots of those low-lifes were sent to prison with extended sentences. Hell, they all knew my name as the cop that put them in prison but none were able to find me outside of the detective squad where I worked. So now I have to be on super high alert wherever I go just in case one of these nit-wits decides to look me up? WTF!!!”
