Ammunition imports shoot up nearly 50% – “The American appetite for ammo has driven a surge in bullet imports. Ammunition imports rose 48.9% in the 12 months ended May 2016, according to a report from Panjiva, a research company that tracks global trade by compiling data from bills of lading. … The increase in bullet imports is being driven by Americans’ desire for guns, which has increased dramatically along with a relentless series of mass shootings and an ongoing push for more gun control.” You don’t say. But again, almost no one owns guns any more, so…the ammo biz is ultimately doomed. Right?

If you can get past Joy Behar’s grinding gears-like squawking, SLJ gets it right…until he gets part of it wrong. On the whole though, it could be (and probably will be) a lot worse.

Speaking of which, this happened:

Trump Delegates: We’re Bringing Guns to Cleveland – “‘There are a whole bunch of things happening: You go to various events, receptions, whatever, outside the convention hall,’ says Ash Khare, a delegate from the northwest corner of the state who applied for a concealed carry permit in preparation for Cleveland. ‘And you walk on the streets and, you know, people know that you are a delegate, and who knows what the crazy people are going to do? So you’ve got to be vigilant about what’s going on and prepare yourself.'”

Going after Uncle Sam: Emanuel victims’ families, survivors file federal lawsuits over background check error – “Accused gunman Dylann Roof, 22, should have been barred from purchasing a gun because he previously admitted using an illegal drug. However, his federally required background check wasn’t completed within the three days licensed gun dealers must wait for them. After that window closed in April 2015, a West Columbia gun store owner sold Roof a .45-caliber Glock. Authorities say Roof used the weapon to kill nine worshippers at Emanuel’s Bible study two months later.”

  1. Well, Mr. Jackson got it at least a bit right. Then again it is the Bill of Rights, not Bill of Needs.

As for the Charleston shooting lawsuit, it seems they were sold a bill of goods by a money-grubing lawyer because that is a mighty uphill battle and they won’t likely see a dime or any change. Then again, sue and settle is a hallmark of this admin, so…

  2. So will Californians be burying their pmags in the back yard or dry walling them into secret compartments in their houses?

Seems like now would be a great time to build a building on the border with nothing but safety deposit boxes and storage lockers.

    • And an adjacent shooting range with available tactical training courses, and a retail outlet selling ammo in bulk.

    • We can keep our 10rd pmags. No one has the 30s because they weren’t that common (we’re they even around?) in 2000 when we were last able to buy standard capacity mags.

      • Ummm, I think you might have forgotten about the pinned standard capacity 30 rd PMAGS, or the light load 20 rounders that are now illegal. Don’t mean to add fuel, but I’m sure that prejudiced LEO’s in the gun control regions of the once beautiful Cali will try to stuff 11 rounds of 22lr into a cal compliant 5.56 10 round PMAG and call you a felon and it a day.

      • Ugh, since my comment with the patent information is not being posted I’ll repost.

The PMAG came out in 2007. If there was a ban in effect as early as 2000 then the PMAG 30 was never legally sold in Cali.

    • And in other news, traffic on I-80 has doubled on the weekends to Reno.

I for one will be complying with the demands of those that know what’s best for me to be without protection. @jerrybrowngov murders from here on out are on you.

  3. Charleston: This is like suing an auto manufacturer for your injuries after an accident when you did not bother to fasten the seat belt.

The Second Amendment protects the right of EVERY American (and legal immigrant) to keep and bear arms. If you fail to utilize this safety device the ramifications are your own responsibility, not the government’s.

    • Actually, this is like suing the cops for not properly following through on a protection order, and courts have previously ruled law enforcement has no liability in such situations.

So it may be true that the FBI and other police departments screwed up and those screw ups were a major contributor in getting those people killed, if the courts follow established precedent the case will go nowhere.

      • The lawsuit will go nowhere and will be funded by outside groups for political reasons and optics.

IMHO, NICS is broken anyway because so many states fail to report or delay reporting for months. In 2007 there was a law passed to fix NICS, In 2012, Public Integrity Org did a piece showing that NICS a was still 4 yrs behind and the biggest offenders in providing data are also states that are most anti-gun.

The way government IT systems are run, NICS will always be wrong. For example, during the study, they found that there where 1million fewer in NICS of people with drug related crimes than were in prison. Meaning, many of those inmates have never been put into NICS.

NICS like the TSA is security theater.

  4. Just an FYI to my California friends, the senate bill covering the ammo thing? Yeah, it covers reloading components just by its wording.

    • The bill is long so I’ll have to re-read it to check about loading. I’ve a friend who wasn’t overly concerned as he loads. Seems like he’ll have more to think about.

I found this part of the bill to be rather amusing:

SEC. 2. Section 16150 of the Penal Code is amended to read:

16150. (a) As used in this part, except as specified in subdivision (b), “ammunition” means one or more loaded cartridges consisting of a primer case, propellant, and with one or more projectiles. “Ammunition” does not include blanks.
      (b) As used in subdivision (a) of Section 30305 and in Section 30306, “ammunition” includes, but is not limited to, any bullet, cartridge, magazine, clip, speed loader, autoloader, or projectile capable of being fired from a firearm with a deadly consequence. “Ammunition” does not include blanks.

I don’t know of any firearm that shoots magazines, clips, speed loaders, or an “autoloader” (what ever that is).

de Leon’s father should have pulled out…

      • Whew, nothing about the dreaded Clipazine that is know to shoot 300 rounds a second. Sweet dodged a bullet on that one. #ProudAmerican

      • Perhaps they just put in because, you know, there might be such a thing and if there is it should be banned. If not, it’ll be banned when it’s invented.

  5. Molon Labe from California. I for one, will not comply. I am out of this shit hole in 2 years anyway. Then Mexico can have it.

  6. Sorry-I can’t stomach either. The behar or the dude who’s leaving America if Trump is elected…buh bye. Sam also lauded the guy who whined about white people “appropriating” black culture. After all the View rants(mostly Whoopee) following the Orlando “hate/gun/gay massacring” thing I’m never watching anything related to the harpy hags…

      • Nah, you must not read too many posts, that appears to be a Friday night had a good scotch or too many boxes of wine post.

      • Let me break it down for you(intellectual giants?)-Samuel Jackson is an azzwhole who’s leaving America if Trump gets erected. Joy Behar is an evil harpy. Whoopi’s leaving too. Good riddance to all 3. Jackson said what a great radical some BET music award winner was because he hates white people…all 3 hate you being armed. DUH…coherent enough for you?

  7. No more sponsor for the Daily Digest? Did Boxer Tactical no renew with you or what? Is somebody else sponsoring next?

  8. California is in serious need of ban aid … a lot of gun owners just got hurt by drive-by legislation.

    • It will be interesting to see if their compliance response is better than New York or New Jersey. And how vigorously they prosecute such offenders as they may discover.

By the way, how does this affect the prop arsenals of Hollywood? I know they almost always use blank ammunition, but are all of there prop guns incapable of firing live rounds? Cannot be retro-fitted to once gain fire live rounds? What about actors handing each other weapons, on film or video, that are not strictly blank-only firearms?

Bottom line, “…shall not be infringed.” How long, and which organization(s), until a suit is filed in U.S. Court for an injunction?

      • A GOOD pro department uses guns with a modified chamber that will only cycle blanks.

Unfortunately for Brandon Lee, they’re not all good prop departments.

      • This law will only effect the little people. Celebrities (especially liberal ones) have immunity from the laws they push.

  9. Bans are how cops black market kick-back their way to retirement. Three NY cops just got theirs for selling gun permits. It’s crime perfected, and they can only get it done in liberal enclave cities. It’s why they push so hard for illegals, it feeds the pump.
Three NY cops just got theirs for selling gun permits. (Oh, did I already say that? Well your not going to hear it enough elsewhere).

  10. “Trump Delegates: We’re Bringing Guns to Cleveland”

If Hillary wins, the Bill of Rights is toast, and I have no doubt that there will be war and other scary crap. Recently, I read an article that implies that if Trump wins, members of the Democrat Party will go postal. With the violence we have already seen, they may be spot on. We are so divided as a country, it makes me wonder if violence may be inevitable either way. It is, after all, a part of the cloward-piven strategy that leftist like Hillary and Obama cherish. We must win this election, but to do it, we must help campaign and vote. This means we need to remain armed, keep our heads on a pivot, and remain in condition yellow at all times.
