Oh, the G36 is airsoft. Shitty airsoft too, the kind of cheap plastic spring gun you buy at Walmart for $20. As for the SCAR, I can’t say for sure without seeing more of it, but it looks like an airsoft gun to me (I love the crap out of airsoft and know the gear pretty damn well, so yeah, I do feel reasonably confident in those assertions).
Look at the barrel diameter on that SCAR. I reckon you’re right about the airsoft.

The photos are low-res and hard to tell but good point and good eye. I should know by now that in Commonwealth countries, Airsoft is a big deal and half the time when there’s an amnesty, people ditch their Airsoft replicas, including the blue Beretta.
Some of the rifles up top are air guns. The one with the large tube below the barrel (similar to a shotgun tube mag) is a PCP air gun. The other looks like a break barrel. PCP guns are usually pretty expensive (both to buy and shoot, compared to other air guns) and well made, surprising to see one in a buy back.
I get that eotech lied about the extreme temperature POI shifting. Nothing excuses that, but we’re not fighting at -40 degrees or 122 degrees. Switching out the sights costs money and time, and I don’t think military brass are known for being efficient.

I’ll give you the -40F bit, but 122F is quite believable. Think about it.
Black body optic in direct sunlight in the Iraqi desert. I find it difficult to believe that the absorbed heat from both the ambient temperature and absorbed sunlight wouldn’t elevate it above thaT.
The trunk of a car can easily get to 120+ degrees in the summer here in the south.
And this is just one of a long list of Eotech issues. Any new government order requires the ordering agency to sign a disclosure of performance limitations. The list is pretty long, some of them are fixed, but one or two aren’t.

I’m sorry, but the Coast Guard is really the unsung hero of the all the branches. They put their lives on the line, act as defense, save lives and much more, yet they’re treated as a joke for some odd reason. And yes, they do need guns.
And they have some pretty bad-ass helo-borne snipers to take out drug-running boat engines.

Did a counter-narco deployment with some Coasties, nothing bad to say about them. They knew their stuff.
Coast Guard guys and gals do lots of old school “boat and deck” naval stuff- including boarding hostile vessels. They don’t shoot Harpoon or Tomahawk missiles very often. Their combat is at the 5.56 and 12 gauge and 9mm end of things – it’s often up close and very personal.
Indeed. A sizable chunk of Coast Guard operations involves drug interdiction, storming enemy vessels (and of course, drug runners don’t exactly use yachts, so the fights are close and brutal).
I never really got that. Between drug interdiction, search and rescue, and disaster response, the Coast Guard more than has its hands full with real work. On a per person basis, the CG might even see more serious action than the other service branches.

A clip is any piece of metal that holds the shells, but they are not completely enclosed. They are generally loading aides.
Yes, a clip is what the M1 Garand uses, however there are also stripper clips that have several rounds secured only by the rim and when used, the cartridges are pushed off the clip into the magazine.
By contrast, a magazine is a mechanical device that feeds ammunition into the action. Ammunition is typically completely guarded (except the opening) against solid contaminants (though not always, the Chauchat was a notable example)
Many old military guns that have fixed magazines usually had some method of loading using a stripper clip. Russians accomplished this with a notch in the bolt/action for the clip.

Generally speaking, a magazine has a spring and a clip doesn’t. If you stick to that, you will be right 99% of the time.
Clips feed magazines.
Magazines feed the gun.
That doesn’t work with a Garand.
My understanding is that the Garand has an internal magazine. Therefore, your en bloc clip is feeding the magazine, which is then feeding the weapon. The big difference between the en bloc and a stripper is that the en bloc provides the feed lips for the magazine, essentially acting as both clip and magazine.

Um what is wrong with Iron sights? Soldiers in WW1 trough the first gulf war used them, including the spec ops operators.
Nothing is wrong with them. They still work.
That said, in WWII the US was using Sherman tanks, Jeeps, and carrying 30-06 rifles. The fact is, technology advances and the military would be foolish not to use the best available.
Holographic optics allow for both eye open aiming and much faster target acquisition. In the modern fighting style these are huge advantages over iron sights. The change in fighting style has also dictated the choice of weapon, transitioning from the club sized, but powerful 30-06 rifles to more compact low recoil rifles with burst fire.
Nothing, and if you have co-witnessed irons you would know immediately if the sight had drifted.
The problem with the EoTech goes way back, back to the begging of the company. Hopefully L-3 can sue the former owners for fraud to recoup some of what they lost in this mess.

A marine told me the electronic dot sights were giving them confident head shots at 100 yards. He said the brass was really interested in why all these confirmed kills had these head shots and the dog sights proved why.
Red dots have been the biggest advance in aiming during my lifetime.
Put a combat grade red dot on an AK and it is now a modern rifle with a greatly increased hit probability at increased range.
Put one on an AR type and you increase hit probability, can engage multiple targets faster and still out range the AK.
My Eotechs work fine here in Florida, I just hate the way the reticle looks “fuzzy” to those of us with the common eye problem called astigmatism.
Still holds zero in and out of the car in summer.
Mine never worked right, even after one repair, I was VERY pleased to be able to return it after owning for 7 years, and getting my refund! Now using magnifier behind a red dot.
I have an Eotech in the desert and never had a problem. The lawsuit was because of the claims regarding temperature not because they don’t work. Any electronic device subjected to extreme temperature variation could become wonky. If the SOCOM soldiers believed they were at risk they would dump them immediately but WAPO wants to trash the DOD and evil corporate beneficiaries.
