A Russian state-owned arms maker reportedly unveiled the world’s first underwater drone armed with an assault rifle that’s designed to defend naval bases from enemy divers and assault teams.
“The drone is fitted with an underwater assault rifle. It has undergone sea trials,” Rostec, the company behind the drone’s development, told Sputnik News at the the International Military Technical Forum “Army 2018.”
“Full-fledged trials will begin closer to the start of winter. It is a unique project since no one has so far fitted [an underwater drone] with small arms. Moreover, very few [countries] in the world have underwater automatic small arms.”

New Jersey would not take part if President Donald Trump’s administration allows states to use federal funds to buy guns for teachers, Gov. Phil Murphy said Thursday.
The New York Times, citing anonymous sources, reported that the U.S. Education Department is considering whether to permit states to seek federal money set aside for academic enrichment and student services to purchase firearms for educators to protect students.
But Murphy, a Democrat who frequently opposes Republican Trump and vocal gun control advocate, said “arming our teachers is illogical and dangerous.”
“We know what happens when a gun enters a classroom,” the governor said in a statement. “The result is almost always tragic and devastating. Fewer guns means fewer gun deaths.

Gun-toting college grad tries her hand at open carry
A Nashville woman whose college graduation photo of her carrying an assault rifle went viral earlier this year is now garnering attention for openly carrying a firearm around the city, a report said Thursday.
Brenna Spencer, 22, had tweeted the photo in April of herself wearing a pink “Women for Trump” T-shirt and lifting it to expose a handgun in her waistband.
“I’ve heard from women saying I inspired them to take steps to defend themselves and get their concealed carry permits,” Spencer told Nashville’s Fox 17 News. “This was never what I planned although I love having a bigger platform and being able to empower women to protect themselves.”
This week, she walked around the Music City with her Smith & Wesson .380 openly, the station reported.

Mark David Chapman, the man who murdered John Lennon in New York City in December 1980, has been denied parole for the 10th time. On Thursday, a three-person parole board panel rejected his latest bid for parole, Reuters reports.
“The panel has determined that your release would be incompatible with the welfare and safety of society,” the state Board of Parole told Chapman in a letter. The parole board’s statement was similar to the one Chapman was provided when his request was last rejected in 2016 and a nearly identical reason was given in 2014.

According to many actual reports from investigative sources, he only “crashed” one; he was focused on the indicators inside the cockpit (specifically the landing gear indicator), and lost track of his altitude.
The others weren’t his fault. One was an engine failure, one was in the fire on the Forrestal which was started by a Zuni fired from an F4 on the other side of the flight deck, and he was shot down over Viet Nam.

Since McLame didn’t do the country the courtesy of resigning when he became unable to fulfill his job duties, we didn’t have the opportunity to put his replacement on this year’s ballot. So, when he dies, the governor of AZ will appoint a replacement from the governor’s party. That choice will probably be made by a governor who hasn’t been elected yet.
And it seems the Flake has flaked out, so both of AZ’s two Senate seats will be up for grabs in the November election.

The Russians developed the APS underwater assault rifle in the 1970s. It fires 4.75″ steel darts through a smooth bore, feeds from a 26 round magazine, and has a maximum effective range of 30m at a depth of 5m and 11m at a depth of 40m. That’s probably what these drones are armed with.

A school shooting is statistically unlikely. A teacher competently executing a dgu is statistically unlikely. The likelihood of both happening approaches zero.

Be it in NJ or TX teachers should still have the legal option to pack. If someone volunteers and is willing to take the whole thing seriously, I don’t see reasons to be affraid. There are people who conceal carry (and open carry in some States) for SD and the majority of these people don’t have any professional experience with firearms.

If I ever saw, or even heard of a gun entering a school I would be terrified. Every gun I’ve ever seen had to be carried, either by a person or by some mechanical contraption controlled by a person. So the NJ governor apparently has never heard of cops entering schools. Either that or the cops in NJ just go berserk and start shooting everyone in sight upon entry??? But seriously, anyone making his same argument about fire extinguishers would be, rightly, laughed out of the room. Just like having more guns would not stop someone intent on causing harm to enter a school, having more fire extinguishers would not stop a fire from starting.
