Why Publix Shouldn’t Have Tried To Pander To Gun Control Protesters

Because it identifies them as an easy mark for other pressure groups to try it again . . .

The moral here is that there was nothing Publix could have done in response to the protests that would have satisfied anyone. This should come as no surprise given how ludicrous the concept of protesting guns at a grocery store is from the get-go. We know that Publix “did not intent to put [their] associates and the customers they serve in the middle of a political debate.” They were thrust into one, regardless. This comes in the midst of several other examples of nonsensical organizational involvement in political issues like Disney’s Rosanne calamity and the NFL’s various fits.

These controversies show the true absurdity of “corporate wokeness.” It’s stupid to attempt to force divisive political change through business. A business needs to watch out for its shareholders. Sure, there are circumstances in which shareholders are benefited by the company taking a stance on an issue that has the nation divided. One would probably find it pretty odd for a gun company to publicly denounce gun owners, for example.

On guns, we’re as paralyzed as I was the day nephew was shot: Montana governor

We’d guess Montanans aren’t really clamoring for gun control laws . . .

After Parkland, the president called for a ban on bump stocks and placing age limits on who can purchase firearms; let’s hold him to his word. While we’re at it, let’s place greater limits on access to high-capacity magazines and weapons enabling those intent on terror to kill dozens in seconds.

Thoughts and prayers are not solutions. They are excuses.

As governor, I hear directly from the people I serve. They want action. They recognize that like most policy issues, there is no single proposal or prescription that will solve the issue of gun safety. But they are tired of the enormity and complexity of the challenge being the excuse for inaction.

Florida Sen Bill Nelson Gun Owner Database ATF Registration

Florida Sen. Bill Nelson wants to create a gun-tracing database

A federal database of all ATF gun records? What could possibly go wrong? . . .

Federal law prohibits the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives from creating an electronic, accessible database of gun records – but U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson says he has a fix for that.

That’s why he’s filed a bill called the Crime Gun Tracing Modernization Act, which would give ATF up to three years to create a database that would include all records in its possession on the sale, importation, production or shipment of firearms. …

Parkland activist and shooting survivor Emma Gonzalez has voiced her support for the bill, calling it “super important” on Twitter.

She carried an AR on Kent State. Now she wants to arm wrestle David Hogg for 2nd Amendment

No contest. She’d break him in half . . .

Kaitlin Bennett came to Internet fame for taking a celebratory stroll around campus carrying a semi-automatic rifle after her graduation from Kent State University. And the 22-year-old libertarian gun-rights activist’s latest viral tweet came in the form of a challenge to David Hogg, one of the most vocal survivors of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas shooting to demand gun control.

Bennett threw down the gauntlet on Sunday (the day of Hogg’s graduation), challenging Hogg to an arm-wrestling contest. The stakes: The fate of the Second Amendment.

  1. Just reading these kind of news articles is enough to cause unhealthy stress and blood pressure! I need to start a “Free -colony ” on another Earth like planet without DNC, SJW Militant LibTards! Must have weapons to colonize! Okay! Now what’s the closest Exo-planet in a ” Goldilocks zone!” Declare independence from Earth 🌎!!!! Lol!

    • Make sure you surround that planet in a Star Wars style defensive system, because guess where all the liberals will be coming, after they consume every freedom and natural resource on earth like a swarm of locusts.

      • Yep. This is what has happened to CO, NV, and is worming its way in to AZ.

DEMs fleeing high taxes, high crime, and job losses are fleeing their strongholds where their progressive ideas have been implemented and utopia has flourished. Not.

Now they bring their politics to new ground and believe “but surely it will work here” and proceed to metastasize the cancer of their ways in their new locations.

Yes, fellow AZ citizens, it is happening here. Tucson is now fully blue-tard, PHX is turning purple fast, Flag was lost. Just like NV the populous urban areas will turn blue enough to outvote the rest of the state by margin.

    • “… I need to start a “Free -colony ” on another Earth like planet without”

There is a much simpler way…. put up a sign that the ‘other’ Earth like planet has free healthcare, free college, and Hillary won the election. All of ‘them’ will line up to get on the ships heading that way.

That way we get to keep this one. I know it’s got it’s own set of problems but it’s all broken in and soft and comfy in all the right places.

      • I wish…. do you know how many times I’ve heard these idiots say they “would move to Canada/France if ____________ happens”? I say we take off and nuke the site from orbit. Its the only way to be sure.

    • Fumigating this world is easier than settling a new one. Also gives you a permanent solution to the commie problem.

  2. To paraphrase, the Governor of Montana says: Gun control doesn’t work. But that’s no excuse for us not to do enact gun control, because we can’t just do nothing.

    • Bullock is a D-bag. The only reason he thinks he can say this crap is that he’s term restricted and can’t run again.

        • In Illinois, the answer to questions like that is either Crook’s County or Chitcago.

In Montana, it’s Bozeman or Missoula.

        • Yes Sir…Montana is like the U.S. in microcosm…a couple of big, Liberal cities trying to dictate to the rest of the State (U.S.A.).

        • Yup, just like KA, OR and WA. The larger cities on or near the coast are the liberal Havens which have the numbers to carry the entire state for the demonrats.

        • Yea, I know about Missoula. We have been looking for property south of Missoula in Ravalli County. Mostly good conservative folks down there.

        • Bingo. Every day I consider moving out of Bozeman more and more. The big problem we have here is, if you want to make enough money to live in Montana, you have to live where the jobs are. Enough to drive a man insane.

        • For the same reason most politicians win: their allies counted the votes. The same voting corruption that exists in every other state exist here in Montana also.
“It’s not the votes that matter, it’s who counts the votes.” -Anonymous

        • Exactly. These voting machines, I’ve read owned by a soros company, have to go. And a 50 state voter ID law must be in place asap.

  3. “A 30-round banana clip valued at $40.”

It must use mini-bananas. It would be huge if it fit 30 full-sized bananas.

“Two Glock magazines valued at $40”

Good price. Where were they purchased?

  4. A LOT of women(and girl’s) would break herr hogg’s spindly limb…wish I was a YOU ESS marshall. He’ll get a medal and a chest to pin it on😧😖😩

  5. Things must have changed since I retired. When I was assigned to the USMS as a local police detective working the Violent Crimes Task Force, Fugitive Group, All the USMS personnel carried MP5’s. I don’t recall any of them carrying any AR-15’s. We did have firearm thefts from vehicles. It was pretty much impossible to prevent them. I had one stolen from my vehicle, but luckily I was able to recover it within minutes. The point being, vehicle burglaries happen quite frequently, both law enforcement and private citizen.

      • I was simply asking when the USMS went to AR-15’s while offering up my knowledge of them using MP-5’s.

    • Ever see the movie 8 mm? Nicholas Cage plays a private detective tasked with finding out whether a snuff film was real or simulated. Late in the movie, there is a scene in which the detective retrieves his handgun from a locked box bolted to the floor of his automobile’s trunk. That’s not invulnerable but it will defeat a smash-and-grab thief.

      • No never saw the movie, or too many others for that matter. Not real fond of Hollyweird. But yes, I know about vehicle lock boxes, and even back when I worked there, so did the USMS. My comment was strictly for knowledge in firearms and tactics. That’s been my interest for the last 45 years. Why would they go from a sub machine gun to a semi auto carbine? Unless it was a rural area, I don’t quite understand. Their primary duties are or were, court room security, magistrate protection and fugitives. I would think the sub machine gun would be more effective than a semi auto carbine. Just interested to see how things have changed, and why.

    • Marty, when I was duel sworn as a member of the North Florida Violent Fugitive Task Force they carried both ARs and MPs. Don’t remember if it was personal preference, or if the particular weapon was issued with no input from the Marshall.

      • Thanks Paul. I would think the AR’s would be great for rural areas, but the MP5 would be better for dynamic entry on residences and room to room searches.

      • When you were “duel sworn,” who did you have to duel?
And what type of weapon was used?
        MP5 or AR15?
        Cane sword? Bastard sword?
        We want to know!! 🙂

  6. Yup…our awesome [sic] Governor…the Legislature is Republican and the Governor a staunch, indentured servant of the DNC. Last session the Legislature offered up several very good firearms-related bills…yea, you guessed it, the the Governor imposed his one-man, one-veto over the desires and wishes of the People of Montana and vetoed all but the most innocuous little bill that didn’t really affect anyone either way…and just like the Governor of Oklahoma, he did it on the last day of the Session…he is our dingleberry and a giant, pompous hemorrhoid to boot.

  7. I would pay good money to see the young lady from Kent State throw the Hogg down. I have a “feeling” it would not be very sporting, as she would demolish him with little effort, but I’m OK with that. So long as it is done on Facebook Live or whatever social media site would get the most viewings.

  8. “not parts of proper noun construction”
    This is not a sentence.

    “N[n]ation”
    This capitalization is intentional.

    “explain ‘rule'”
This is missing capitalization and punctuation.

    “OMG”
This is not a word. (I am aware that it is an offensive and certainly inappropriate acronym for the context.)

    “this is wrong!”
    This is missing capitalization.

References to “rule” and “specific agency?” are not grammar corrections.

As she is also apparently correcting the content:
    1. Is she aware that Donald probably did not actually write this?
    2. Did she not notice the erroneous content involving firearms, such as “bump stocks, that turn legal guns into illegal machine guns”?

    I will stop here.

    • For someone who was supposedly an AP teacher, her corrections were all almost incorrect. She was trying to be a pithy smartass, and instead looks like an illiterate paste-easter.

      • Actually her corrections were correct. I applaud her for pointing out that most people can’t write correct English.

        • No, they’re not. The letter is written according to the style guide used by the White House. So it really is just a case of an uninformed person being insufferable.

        • No, they’re not. The letter is written according to the style guide used by the White House. So it really is just a case of an uninformed person being insufferable.

I’m to the right of G. Gordon Liddy, so let’s get that out of the way first. First of all, yes, she was right and the White House was wrong. Wrong, wrong wrong. And if some uneducated idiot actually wrote a White House style guide like that, he or she should be fired and then put in prison. And whoever hired him or her should be publicly flogged. Honestly, who is that stupid? But I do not believe anyone would be so idiotic as to write a White House style guide like that, so I am calling shenanigans on you.

If you have proof, let me know. I’ll make a bet.

        • I will review the style guide and the messages here. If I am wrong I will gladly pay you. We didn’t specify a bet, but my typical bet is a CD of your choice not to exceed $20. (I used to post a lot to music forums–I am a piano player and we’re a feisty bunch. Some of us would give Seeking Alpha a run for their money).

        • The corrections are almost all wrong and “nation” is capitalized in my letter from Bill Clinton.

    • Right? I thought a banana clip was something that kept girls hair out of their face. One would think that a federal agent would use proper nomenclature in his report.

  9. Once they pass documentation for all sales they will pass electronic archival of those records. Right now the law is setup so it’s harder for them to track guns quickly. Then they could try to force all guns previously sold to be documented in the database.

People can be undocumented, but guns can’t…

  10. 30 round P-Mag.
You’re talking 20 bucks around these parts. And that’s on the high end.
    Normally 13-15 bucks.
    Padding the ol’ report.

  11. After hearing how Hogg viciously attacked the multiple assailants, using his body to sheild his girlpigfriend, then receiving numerous gunshot wounds, and still have the tenacity to remedy medical assistance to the wounded. I’m not so sure I’d want that bet. The guys a hero besides that he’s got arms as huge as Pipi Longstocking, no sirree, I wouldn’t mess with that Hogg

  12. When a reported “teacher” writes OMG on something they graded, I begin to seriously doubt their credentials or authenticity of the story.

    • Ignore the credentials. Pretend I wrote it. If you are not smart enough to see the validity of the edits then that says a lot about you, that you have no idea what correct English is.

      • I see the many errors. I do not believe that we should be having our educators criticizing errors using urban slang or making their response look as lazy as the initially bad letter. The person who made these corrections made a point that they are an educator, ignoring the credentials would make this argument moot.

        • You have a point, but there is a difference between markup criticism and formal writing. Just a fine point, the person who wrote this was not a current educator. She was retired.

Don’t lose sight of the salient point: whoever wrote this had the intelligence of an amoeba. This has nothing to do with Democrat or Republican, it has everything to do with most Americans being idiots.

        • Actually the letter seems to be written in White House style. The “educator” is simply showing their own ignorance and nothing more. My 1990’s letter from Bill Clinton (not auto penned like the example in this story) but signed in his own hand, has ‘Nation” capitalized in proper noun style.

There are also a boatload of examples of Obama White House correspondence with errors, the difference is there isn’t a entire cadre of professional whiners who simply show their double standards.

Lastly, that the teacher thinks Trump wrote this shows she is a complete moron.

        • If you’re going to criticize formal writing, do it in the same expectation your expect from the original author. That’s my salient point regarding this issue.

    • Yup, the OMG and “y’all” is all you need to see there. Corrections my ass, that was just whiny bitching disguised as cleverness.

  13. Montana is pretty anti gun. Governors keep vetoing constitutional carry. Demoncrat governors are always elected.

    • Looking at the firearms laws in 50 states handbook which gives MT a 90/100. Looks like the only places it fails is Constitutional Carry and carrying in restaurants serving alcohol is not permitted. In all other aspects, looks pretty pro gun to me,

  14. Federal law prohibits the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives from creating an electronic, accessible database of gun records – but U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson says he has a fix for that.

When has federal law ever stopped government agencies from quietly and discreetly creating electronic databases? I think this “effort” is just a ruse to make the masses think that fedzilla currently has no idea who purchased firearms from Federal Firearm Licensees.

  15. Hmmm….. Hogg-boy has graduated. Now what’s he gonna do? Work directly for Bloomburg? Go to UC-Berkely? Since he appears to be a dedicated little Marxist-Progressive, I’m confident that it will be one or the other. One thing is sure, however, and that is that sooner or later people will tire of him and his sophomoric stunts, and he’ll fade away. Oh, and I’ll be interested to see what he’s going to do if he refuses or gets beat by a woman.

    • IIRC, he was whining a while back about Berserkley turning him down, along with a few other big name schools that didn’t accept him either.
