Grand Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, has released a statement calling on the United Nations to “seriously” pursue seven “human rights” cases in the United States. One of these is what Khamenei perceives as the need for gun control.
“Another case which the UN should definitely pursue is the freedom of selling guns in the US with which so many crimes are being committed,” Khamenei said in a statement published today.

Well-known teen gun control activist David Hogg posted social media statements Wednesday that suggested he plans a Memphis protest against FedEx.
“See you this summer,” he wrote to his 813,000 Twitter followers, adding a smiley face. “1000 Ridgeway Loop Memphis, Tennessee.”
“That’s FedEx,” he wrote in a subsequent post. (FedEx is listed as one of the tenants in this East Memphis office building, but the main FedEx headquarters is at 3680 Hacks Cross Road.)
People immediately began asking for more details, but Hogg didn’t add much, writing, “More info to come.”
The surprising way gun violence is dividing America
This is only surprising if you haven’t been paying attention at all over the past 50 years . . .
To better understand how the geography of gun violence may affect how Americans think about the issue, The Washington Post analyzed data on gun deaths from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for every county from 2007 and 2016 and the nonpartisan Gun Violence Archive from 2016 to present. (Our full methodology is explained at the bottom of this post.)
A distinct pattern emerged: In Democratic regions of the country, which tend to be cities, people are more likely to be murdered with a gun than they are to shoot themselves to death. In regions of the country won by Republican, which tend to be rural areas and small towns, the opposite is true — people are more likely to shoot themselves to death than they are to be murdered with a gun.
Dick’s Shocked To Find Their Gun Sales Plummeting
I don’t think they were really all that shocked . . .
They’ve found the answer to that question. This month they were forced to announce to their shareholders that gun sales had tanked and were not expected to recover any time soon… for some mysterious reason. (Business Insider)
Other aspects of their business are still doing well enough for overall profits to rise, but they’re just not moving anywhere near as many firearms (of any type) compared to previous quarters. Shareholders probably won’t be all that put off since a positive number is always better than a negative one. But Dick’s is still leaving money on the table here. How much better would their overall profit picture be if they’d stood their ground and continued selling the full range of guns rather than choosing to take a side in an ongoing political debate? (And it was clearly the wrong side for their target audience if you’ll pardon the phrase.)

In an Instagram post shared with her nearly 7 million followers, Schumer encouraged everyone to wear orange on June 1.
“Hi! Tomorrow is my bday,” the star, who turns 37 this year, began her caption. “If you want to say happy birthday to me please do it by joining me for #wearorangeday tomorrow as a sign to end gun violence. Everytown.org can help!”

Driving a high-speed metal projectile through a living human body tends to be, um, ‘violent.’ Especially heads.
Yeah, I’m thinking that suicide by firearm is ‘violence,’ sure enough.
The problem with labelling suicide by gun as “gun violence” is the purpose of the label. It’s purpose is to lump suicides in with assault and homicide to artificially inflate the numbers. And it is an enormous double standard that is not used for other types of suicide.
Hanging yourself isn’t peaceful, but no one will ever call it rope violence. Slitting your wrists isn’t peaceful, but no one will ever call it knife violence. Pack your family into a car and drive it off a cliff and no one will ever call it automobile violence.
Tell me that a car at the bottom of a cliff filled with dead bodies is somehow less messy or violent than a suicide by gun. You can’t. That’s what makes you such a hypocrite who looks at all suicides and decides that only suicide by gun needs a special label. All to push a political agenda designed to limit my rights and the rights of every American.

Anything that causes a physical injury is violence – vehicle crashes, a doctor amputating the wrong limb, getting your hand caught in a meat grinder, falling off a ladder, tripping over your cat, stepping on a LEGO block, bleeding gums from overly harsh flossing, etc. The possibilities are endless!

Yes, it was a tragedy and I wish it hadn’t happened but don’t blame me and don’t blame the rifle, he pulled the trigger, it didn’t go off by itself.
Therefore suicide by hanging must be “rope violence”, by pills is “pharma-violence”, and jumping off bridges is “gravity violence”. Got it.

Reading some of the comments at the hill, it is apparent what other members of our society think of us gun owners and NRA members. One individual, who has apparently taken too much of their adderal, is posting on every pro-gun post. They’re calling us scum and that the NRA is a terrorist organization and that nobody is going to believe our “BS downward trend in violence statistics lies,” even though you clearly link to the FBI crime statistics. Does anyone else get beyond pissed when you read what these clowns post or have you become so used to it that it isn’t worth the time to respond to them? I used to get enraged when I would read these comments, and I still do sometimes, but, I’m trying harder, to do my best, to realize that these peoples opinions are just that, opinions. Opinions not based on facts or truths, but, blinding hatred because of the 30,000 deaths due to guns each year and the fact THAT GUNS ONLY PURPOSE IS TO KILL. Funny, despite them stating that their only purpose is to kill, they sure don’t reach the numbers of deaths caused by auto accidents. Funny thing with that is… If you net search the “top ten causes of death in the US”, death by medical errors are rolled into “accidents” (as #3 on the list).

The Iranian government is extremely anti-communist and has been since 1979. It was one of the reasons they gave the Shah the boot after the invasion of Afghanistan, because they feared Soviet invasion which would have meant communist rule and secularism at the barrel of an AK74.
Hogg would still love the authoritarian nature of the Iranian regime though.

FedEx’s ‘Advantage Program’ is offered to ALL small businesses and consumers that are members of that association. There IS no ‘special NRA discount’, according to FedEx, and never HAS been. In addition, according to them, the NRA ships things from their online store via UPS, NOT FedEx.

I don’t think that Hogg has anything against the NRA , Publix , or Fed Ex .
