John Crump writes [via ammoland.com]: After six years of being stonewalled by the US Justice Department, we might finally get the details of the Eric Holder and Barack Obama era failed gun-walking operation that blew up into a scandal known as “Fast and Furious.”

Attorney General Jeff Sessions released a statement stating that the Justice Department will release the long sought out internal documents on the gun-walking scheme to House of Representatives Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. Congress originally subpoenaed the records from the Holder-era Justice Department in 2012.

“The Department of Justice under my watch is committed to transparency and the rule of law. This settlement agreement is an important step to make sure that the public finally receives all the facts related to Operation Fast and Furious,” said Attorney General Jeff Sessions in a press release.

Former Attorney General Eric Holder refused to hand over the records forcing the Republican lead committee to take Holder to federal court. Holder was found to be in contempt by the committee for refusing to supply the documents. President Barak Obama, who appointed Holder to the position of Attorney General, stepped in and asserted executive privilege to prevent Congress from obtaining the records through the courts.

The Justice Department named the operation after the “Fast and Furious” movie franchise. During the operation the government allowed over 2000 firearms to flow into the hands of the Mexican drug cartels. The government lost track of over 1600 of the guns. It is unknown how many times that the Cartel used these guns in their crimes or how many 1000’s of people were killed with these weapons, including U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry.

U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry

Members of a “rip off squad” engaged U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry in a firefight on the Arizona side of the US/Mexico border. Rip off squads target drug smugglers for robberies. Agent Terry tragically died during the gunfight. Authorities traced two guns recovered from the site of the battle to the failed U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms’ gun-walking operation.

Agent Terry’s family sued the ATF for creating a risk to law enforcement officers. They alleged that the ATF officials should have foreseen the risk that the program would cause to CBP and other law enforcement agents. The liberal-leaning 9th Circuit Court dismissed the case because “congressionally-mandated remedies” were already in place for the families of fallen federal agents.

Kent Terry, the brother of the slain agent, has been pushing the President for the release of the documents. On Saturday he took to Twitter to tweet directly at President Trump to release the records reminding Trump of a campaign promise he made to Terry while on the campaign trail.

This past Tuesday Kent Terry appeared on The Fox News Channel’s “Fox and Friends.” to plead to reopen the investigation and release the documents.

“We need to find out the truth, exactly what happened, how it happened, why it happened. We need Mr. Trump, President Trump, to unseal the documents, reverse executive privilege so that we know what happened, and that we can hold the people accountable that are responsible,” Terry told the cast of the show.

In September 2012, The Department of Justice Inspector General released a report that cleared Eric Holder of any wrongdoing in the “Fast and Furious” scandal.

The report faulted 12 other DOJ employees who worked under Holder. Holder himself claimed not to recall knowing about the failed gun-walking operation even though internal emails referenced “Fast and Furious.” Holder claimed that the emails were referencing another operation.

Eric Holder claimed to be vindicated by the Inspector General’s report. Democrats then accused Republicans of using “Fast and Furious” as a witch hunt. Eric Holder has not released a statement on the release of the documents to Congress by the DOJ and is still a free man.

        • He’s already in big trouble he brought a gun into a gun free zone… Looks like those signs don’t work too well and shows that security at hospitals and rest homes should probably tool up, definitely won’t happen because just like schools people will swear some guard will shoot a resident or patient in a fit of rage.

    • Agreed. There were others at the ATF and DOJ in addition to holder who should be in prison for that and several other crimes.

I hope this help’s Brian Terry’s family in their lawsuits.

      • That bastard should be in prison too for the Patriot act and unjust war in Iraq w/ B.S. pretext; WMD’s my ass. Petition congress to go to war but at least be honest about the reasons. I’m conservative, but F the republican party, back stabbing bastards

        • Clearly Bush was supposed to know the worldwide deep state was giving him bad intelligence to undermine his presidency.

      • “Holder and Obama inherited this operation from the Bush administration.”

Two wrongs don’t make a right, O-bung hole could have ended F&F any time during his tenure.

        • Obunghole and Bush with Cankles all in the same cell block, gives one a warm and fuzzy feeling.

        • surlycmd: Which wasn’t the same “Operation”. From a 30,000 foot view the idea / concept might be similar, but they’re not the same “Operation”.

        • I don’t know the details of Wide Receiver anymore than I know the details of Fast and Furious. However, I suspect there is more similarities than differences between them. Same ATF. I could be a pessimistic cynical fargin bastage, but I don’t trust anyone in power.

      • Wide Receiver is not Fast and Furious.
Did Bush also make Holder to keep documents about it from Congress against direct order from our elected representatives in Congress?
Did Bush make Obama to cover Holders ass by claiming administrative privilege?

        • To answer your questions: of course not. The Obama administration was caught screwing up. The Bush administration was not. That does not mean mistakes a plenty were not made under the Bush admin. It just means they did not become public. Same ATF.

      • No.
Wide Receiver was coordinated with the Mexican Government. Fast and Furious was kept secret from the Mexican government.
Wide Receiver used tracking devices in the firearms that were part of the plan, so the firearms could be tracked. Fast and Furious firearms had no tracking devices, and were thus untraceable once sold.
Once Wide Receiver’s tracking devices were discovered, sales ceased. Since Fast and Furious had no tracking devices, there was no real plan to shut it down.
Other than the fact that both were gun-walking plans, there was no connection.
There is no way Fast and Furious can be laid at Bush’s feet.

    • Well, to be cold-hearted bastard about it, there isn’t anywhere near the outrage for dead old folks than there is for dead school kids.

      Retirement home carry, people… 😉

      • In most state or VA run rest homes (like the one I work for) residents aren’t even allowed so much as a Swiss Army Knife. Should they be caught with any item that can be considered a weapon (including the silverware from the kitchen) in their rooms after meal time they can be evicted and the family then has to find another facility that will take them. Not even the security department is allowed anything that can be used as a weapon (No tasers, no pocket knives, no pistols, no batons, and no kidding). Literally we are a much softer target than schools because our old guys can’t run or can’t run as fast as teenagers.

  1. Trails followed by caring out of sentences by the prescribed method of punishments for those found guilty,no matter the office holder.

    • I have little faith in these petitions doing any good. Still, I have signed, it can’t hurt.
Gun grabbers plan massive marches on March 14th. Where and when is our counter strike?
NRA? GOA? SAF? NAGR? ISRA? (Hynku, Vileme, Jarmilo! 😉)

  2. Calif. already has ERPO’s So what happened with THIS guy?
Well i guess gun control don’t work, Time to repeal all gun laws from the last 84 years .

      • No, I’m an Okie, and we’re going to build a wall in Texas if Texas doesn’t get on it.

We’ll let CA get fully overrun before we nuke it from orbit. The radiation will keep the population to nil while we build the wall across the southern border.

Or we can finish our “Border War” with Mexico [and Germany] (1910-1919) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_wars_involving_Mexico , by fing every bit of their sh_t up and build the wall in Guatemala (It’ll be a couple of hundred miles shorter and Mexico won’t even have to tell us that it paid [dearly] for it).

  3. This will help facilitate an assault weapons ban.. and not without cause. Both sides of the political fence are on notice that assault weapons such as ARs and AKs are now a universal taboo.

  4. There are two aspects to F&F, one the original authorization for the project, and how high up in the organization of the ATF and/or the DOJ that authorization went, and second the cover-up after the SHTF. Holder was clearly involved in the latter, an those are the documents likely being released now. But I do not know how extensive the document dump on the project itself were, or whether that was selectively edited to protect those at the top. A separate question I have, and admittedly I did not pay a lot of attention, was whether the program was actually illegal or just plain stupid. (Clearly it was the latter.)

The author suggests that the Terry family action was dismissed by a “liberal leaning” Ninth Circuit. While true, the liberal bent of the court had nothing to do with the dismissal. As a federal employee, Terry was subject to administrative remedies that are essentially a workers’ compensation program. And as will all such programs, it is an “exclusive” remedy, meaning you don’t get to sue the employer Federal Government for any other damages.

  5. I suspect little to no real information will be released. The political elite will not throw each other under the bus. The party in power now knows that the other party will be in power again. Both parties are playing a long game to maintain the status quo.

    • Must be the reason “Donald Due process Trump” didn’t cash in on his promise to throw Hilda-beast into the pokey.
can’t have the prog-tards releasing Trumps little whore party in Russia video. (sarc)

      • Whole timeline immediately proven false BY THE FING STATE DEPARTMENT. One doesn’t just get to ‘go to Russia’ without winding up on permanent fing State Dept. and DHS records.

        • The reason why i wrote (Sarc) = sarcasm
But it was funny when I read it back to myself

      • “Must be the reason “Donald Due process Trump” didn’t cash in on his promise to throw Hilda-beast into the pokey.”

There’s news in that department. Activity in investigating the Clinton Foundation Slush Fund is picking up steam. The Little Rock FBI office is now involved…

  6. Scrubbed, bleach-bit, smashed hard drives, IT bro-dudes back in Pack-o-sh_t-hole-istan, they probably only released Hillocrap’s hot-yoga videos and grandchildren pics.

POS Commie (D)’s gotta go (they’ve gone too far, now they can’t go far enough).

    Holder is a Terrorist.
