While most of the TTAG crew was at the SHOT Show, I was chasing my passion in Reno at the other outdoor exhibition scheduled last week…the Wild Sheep Foundation Sheep Show. During some slow times at our booth selling hunts for my buddy Eli at his camp in South Africa, I got to walk the show and ogle gear.
That’s when I ran across the good folks at MG Arms. They make very lightweight guns. How does a 5.5lb rifle in .375 H&H sound?
Note the lightening cuts in the receiver. Kick much? Not according to Jean Canestrini, the nice young lady manning the booth. Especially with their nice muzzle brakes.
Wanna go even lighter? There was a 4lb. 11oz. AR in .300 blackout.

Getting hands on with new products is great. The other benefit of the show was meeting the people who back their products.
When I spoke with the good folks at the Ruger booth, I told them I was a bit disappointed with the accuracy of my RPR IN 6.5 Creedmoor. After talking specifics, he handed me a customer service card and promised it would have a quick turn around in time for the precision rifle course I’m taking with Tyler in march.The only bad part is that I just ordered their new Ruger American Rifle in .450 Bushmaster. There goes the gun budget for the month.
One more benefit to hanging out with the shooting and hunting crowd, people like Jim Shockey (who, by the way, is a really nice guy).
So not all the shooting, hunting and outdoor action was in Las Vegas last week. And this one was open to the public.

Wish I would have known that was going on, I would have driven over. Sheep hunting ain’t cheap, but it’s worth it. The Muflon is next on my list. After that, its out of Texas for one if the big horns.
Jon, it was a good show. They also have raffles where they give away several sheep hunts. They send you to a shooting school, outfit you head to toe, then off to a fully guided big horn hunt or Billy’s goat hunt.
I did book a moose hunt in Alaska. Looking forward to that!
I’ve got a BC moose hunt booked for the fall. Going to do it with a flintlock.

yeah, sure as shootin there is no foundation to hunt regular sheep. Cept maybe hair sheep, they seem to leap about when spooked, like deer. Wool sheep just trundle off on the other direction.
if hair sheep wear nylon, are they called mufflon?

Among North American hunters, the FNAWS (Foundation for North American Wild Sheep) are the high rollers, by far.
Their show always had some of the highest quality (and priced) firearms exhibitors of any show I’ve been too. It’s a very affluent crowd that hunts sheep.
