There are academics who persist in perpetuating the idea that the Founding Fathers created the right to keep and bear arms ONLY to enable state militias. Nuh-uh. All the rights in the U.S. Bill of Rights are individual rights. Suggesting that post-Civil War America “recast” the Second Amendment as an individual right is to recast the framers’ clear, well-documented intent. As far as the world being a different place today than it was in 1776: nonsense. Human nature has not changed. Our God-given rights are still our God-given rights. And we are, thank God, still living in a country where we have the right to keep and bear arms. Happy Fourth!

  1. Time Magazine recently had a cover image of the Constitution being shredded with the question, “Does It Still Matter?” ‘Nuff said about Time.

  2. The amusing part about Time’s Constitution cover is the article had 10+ errors. No, Time is not smarter than a 5th grader.

  3. Happy birthday to your country and its broad base of basic freedoms in its Constitution. Its most potent freedom is free speech and I see plenty of that freedom in TTAG. It definitely is a Farago site.

    • Zing. Perhaps on the 4th we are endowed by our creator(s? Be they the usual suspects, the goddess, Zor, none, or all of the above) with certain inalienable rights?

  4. Time magazine recently hired the left-wing clowns who worked at Newsweek and drove it into bankruptcy – just give them some “time” (pun wholly intended) and this rag, too, will die. No one who doesn’t have a birdcage needs to buy Time – lining cages is all that the rag is good for.

  5. And they wonder why I refer to them a “academia nuts”.

I have relatives that are/were “professors”, and they think the same way. It must be required to have a lobotomy to teach in most colleges and universities today.
