Said it before and will say it again. If the men were armed it would not have happened the first time.
Such a tragedy , this could have been avoided if every soldier on base was armed , after the first round was fired , the subject probably would have been taken out , if he had even tried to shoot up the base since then it would not have been a target rich environment . I feel for his fiancé , I hope she finds someone else that can fill the void , but it will take time for her to heal . Be prepared and ready . Keep your powder dry .
Brave man. My condolences to his fiance and his family. He died protecting his brothers (and sisters) in arms, unfortunately at home at the hands of a fellow soldier, not abroad while fighting America’s enemies. A worthy sacrifice, but a sacrifice that shouldn’t have been necessary. I bet he would’ve given anything to have an M9 in hand at that moment.

We need to watch ourselves and hold the higher moral ground. Unless the family wants their dead member’s name to be used, it’s kind of sick to use the dead to further your own needs.

The problem is that the news will make much about his death and call him a hero, even though there never should have been any reason for him to have to make such a sacrifice.
Why in the world do we disarm our soldiers? There is no logical reason for it. Even if you don’t want a bunch of 18 year olds running around with M4’s all the time, you should still allow NCO’s and Officers to carry their sidearms on base. Anyone with a concealed carry permit should be allowed to carry according to Texas law. Three military base shootings in 5 years? And they are everything the gun control crowd wants. Why are we making soft targets of our military forces at home?
Using honorable references to the actions of heroes in support of the natural, civil and Constitutionally protected right to keep and bear arms is NOT the same as waving bloody shirts while dancing on the graves of innocent victims and attempting to use the spectacle to suppress those same rights.
This highlights one of the main reasons why I left military service. The constitution that swore an oath to uphold and defend did not apply to me. I had much the same civil and constitutionally protected rights as felons. That lifestyle wasn’t for me.

We have tried the politically correct way, disarmament. It’s time to go the other direction and have armament. Find a way to arm soldiers, even if its only the staff NCO’s.

It was an armed responded that ended it, as often happens. It was not talking, it was not wishing or hoping. It was the presence of someone willing and able to meet force with force that stopped it at 3.
For some reason, that keeps getting swept under the rug by the murder loving gun grabbers.
Something surprising and refreshing in the narrative coming out of this tragedy and being covered in the media is the idea of gun-free zones being target rich, killer magnets.
We’ve all been saying this for years; but to hear the view regarded at least as a plausible assessment is encouraging. It’s doubly tragic that it takes a tragedy to get some people to do what is right and what should have been done all along; namely, to quit infringing on free people’s right to keep and bear arms.

This makes me so MAD. If you trust a soldier to put his life on the line in combat you should try them to carry a weapon. SO SO stupid…….Bring back don’t ask don’t tell….but this time it pertains to concealed carry!!!!!! It’s too bad that if you concealed carried as a soldier you go to jail, but as a citizen if I conceal carried at work all they could do is fire me.

“Armed forces”, my ass. Have we completely dropped the pretext that we have soldiers to defend American lives with force? Because while we may empower our soldiers to use force to invade foreign soil, we deny their right to employ the means to protect themselves and others while in our homeland.
