In 1775 the Redcoats marched to seize colonists’ arms at Lexington and Concord and the Americans repulsed them. The inhabitants of Boston were ordered to turn in their guns, which were seized by British General Gage. The Continental Congress cited this perfidy in the Declaration of Causes of Taking Up Arms.

Nothing like that will happen today. [Virginia] counties that have declared themselves Second Amendment sanctuaries make clear their dedication to use all lawful means to protect their constitutional rights. Law-enforcement authorities have scarce resources and must choose how to allocate them. Work to solve murders and robberies, or track down gun owners because they have rifles with those oh-so-deadly pistol grips or adjustable stocks? That’s a no-brainer.

But those who support filling the prisons with law-abiding citizens just because they have, for instance, a rifle that will also shoot flares—which is nothing more than a distress signal—should remember our history. The Second Amendment was adopted to prevent exactly those kinds of infringements.

A Second Amendment sanctuary shouldn’t be any more controversial than a First Amendment sanctuary. Imagine if the [Governor Ralph Northam] signed a law banning books he didn’t like, then sent police to search houses to confiscate them and arrest their owners, who would be charged with a felony. He could then have a book burning alongside of his massive gun melting. Sanctuary that, anyone?

The Bill of Rights was intended to inform the ordinary citizens of their rights. Its meaning is not a monopoly of the governmental entities whose powers it was intended to limit. Supporters of Second Amendment sanctuaries are only following this historical understanding.

  1. Don’t worry. The Demo Authoritarians and the RINO GOP Globalists have taken care of that…Since as most residents know, the local , and State Police are in complete control over a Police-State issued privilege. Since according to the current politicians cemented into power here, have stated that there is NO SUCH thing as the 2nd Amendment in The People’s Republic Of M Assachusetts…Only a barily tolerated privilege…So we have indeed lost our Constitutional Rights here to “Benign Authoritarian Government….” So far no mass arrests or state issued deaths. Yet…)

  2. I do not see the government attempting to seize all guns. I see them cherry picking some gun owners and seizing their guns. They will then make examples out of them with felony charges sending decent men and women to prison. At that point some decent men and women will turn in their guns on the threat of losing their freedom. This would be a sad day in American history but it is the most likely scenario.

      • Militias already are marked as domestic terrorists. No, the National Guard is not a militia. Neither are State Defense Forces (it’s right there in the name.) Now with those false categories excluded, point me to a militia group that isn’t already labeled a terrorist group (and therefore association with isn’t a felony) or hasn’t been besieged and destroyed by federal law enforcement. I’ll wait.

        • Pretty much everyone 17-45.

The feds themselves say that such folk are the “unorganized militia”. See 10 U.S. Code § 246.

        • And lets not forget that while US Constitution supporting militias are designated as terrorist, muslime/Islamic “militias” here in the US aren’t — Imagine that!

        • RattlerJake that is because it is not the politicians themselves that are deadly afraid of the militias though they are to a degree…. it is the ones pulling the strings behind the scenes, the ones that control the FED and close to the entire banking system worldwide along with many mega corporations. Why are they so afraid? It is because the American Militias hold liberty above their own lives and they will sacrifice their own lives to ensure liberty for those they love and the country they love. The Moslem Militias on the other hand can be controlled by Immams who have shown they can be bought. The Moslem religion is a religion of subservience

    • But not before it’s tied up in court and appeals for some time. Now if Justice Ginsburg would just “retire”, so that Trump can replace her before that time comes…

  3. They might not be openly burning books in the streets, but the disdain these people have for the 2nd Amendment is possibly eclipsed by their hatred of the First.

    • As usual you get everything backwards. The Far Right hate the 1 st Amendment with a passion and make no bones about it. This would be the first thing they would destroy in their hope for a Utopian Right Wing, White, Christian, Totalitarian Caliphate. Their real bible of course being none other than Mein Kampf. All of their racist chants prove it beyond all doubt.

      • Uh… you do know that ‘Nazi’ was short for National Socialist Worker’s Party, don’t you? Nazis were far left, not far right. The left likes to claim they were far right so as to smear the right as racist, when the real racism is on the left. Always has been and always will be.

        • I had to point that out to an individual the other day Nazism is left wing have yet to hear of a hard right belief thats anything like Nazism or Communism.

        • What’s really laughable is his attack on Christians and the Bible when Hitler lamented that Germany wasn’t a Muslim country because Islam would have facilitated Nazism much better than Christianity. These people aren’t only ignorant but their uncurious as well.

        • Its obvious you both flunked history and do not know anything about Hitler or his followers. Hitler was a Far Right Nationalist and populist. Hitler tried and sometimes succeeded to privatize government programs and institutions. Hitler hated Unions and did a very good job at suppressing their power. Hitler hated immigrants and refugees and was a racist bigot and a xenophobe.

Post Script: Remember the Charlottsville Nazi March of all the extreme Right Wing Supremacists, they were chanting your credo.

All of the above describe the Far Right of today who march lock step to his warped ideology. You included as one of his most devout followers. Its your credo as you have proven many times through your posts.

        • Sorry Vlad, you’ve got your left and right mixed up again. This country was founded on something known as ‘classical liberalism’, i.e. the rights of the individual should supersede the interest of the state. This is what is the ‘right’ in America. Nazism was as anti-individual rights as possible. But your ilk don’t really care about truth or reality.

      • Hey idiot, the people going to jail for their guns will be citizens! That will include Native Americans, whites, blacks, Asian, east indian and whatever other groups that are losing their right to defend themselves. The Jewish people should be the most alarmed by this action!!! They saw the socialists in Germany do this very same thing in Europe in the 1930s. Wake up and guit voting for Democrats, they are all socialist now.

        • The Korean-American shop owners – who defended their businesses with AR-15s from the rooftops, during the LA/Rodney King Riots.

        • Hitler actually relaxed gun laws in the 1930’s except of course for the Jews but the laws were not even enforced until lat in the 30’s

  4. Some . Who have nothing to loose but maybe their lives. Who also wont be missed having no family living left. Might just shoot back.
I know someone in that position very closely.

  5. Two hundred and fifty years of Sanctuary bullshit did not work out well for gun owners because the gun banners won out every time both in the anti-gun laws and the corrupt courts supporting them.

  6. For those who have never read it:

    July 6, 1775

A Declaration by the Representatives of the United Colonies of North-America, Now Met in Congress at Philadelphia, Setting Forth the Causes and Necessity of Their Taking Up Arms.

If it was possible for men, who exercise their reason to believe, that the divine Author of our existence intended a part of the human race to hold an absolute property in, and an unbounded power over others, marked out by his infinite goodness and wisdom, as the objects of a legal domination never rightfully resistible, however severe and oppressive, the inhabitants of these colonies might at least require from the parliament of Great-Britain some evidence, that this dreadful authority over them, has been granted to that body. But a reverance for our Creator, principles of humanity, and the dictates of common sense, must convince all those who reflect upon the subject, that government was instituted to promote the welfare of mankind, and ought to be administered for the attainment of that end. The legislature of Great-Britain, however, stimulated by an inordinate passion for a power not only unjustifiable, but which they know to be peculiarly reprobated by the very constitution of that kingdom, and desparate of success in any mode of contest, where regard should be had to truth, law, or right, have at length, deserting those, attempted to effect their cruel and impolitic purpose of enslaving these colonies by violence, and have thereby rendered it necessary for us to close with their last appeal from reason to arms. – Yet, however blinded that assembly may be, by their intemperate rage for unlimited domination, so to sight justice and the opinion of mankind, we esteem ourselves bound by obligations of respect to the rest of the world, to make known the justice of our cause.

Our forefathers, inhabitants of the island of Great-Britain, left their native land, to seek on these shores a residence for civil and religious freedom. At the expense of their blood, at the hazard of their fortunes, without the least charge to the country from which they removed, by unceasing labour, and an unconquerable spirit, they effected settlements in the distant and unhospitable wilds of America, then filled with numerous and warlike barbarians. — Societies or governments, vested with perfect legislatures, were formed under charters from the crown, and an harmonious intercourse was established between the colonies and the kingdom from which they derived their origin. The mutual benefits of this union became in a short time so extraordinary, as to excite astonishment. It is universally confessed, that the amazing increase of the wealth, strength, and navigation of the realm, arose from this source; and the minister, who so wisely and successfully directed the measures of Great-Britain in the late war, publicly declared, that these colonies enabled her to triumph over her enemies. –Towards the conclusion of that war, it pleased our sovereign to make a change in his counsels. — From that fatal movement, the affairs of the British empire began to fall into confusion, and gradually sliding from the summit of glorious prosperity, to which they had been advanced by the virtues and abilities of one man, are at length distracted by the convulsions, that now shake it to its deepest foundations. — The new ministry finding the brave foes of Britain, though frequently defeated, yet still contending, took up the unfortunate idea of granting them a hasty peace, and then subduing her faithful friends.

These devoted colonies were judged to be in such a state, as to present victories without bloodshed, and all the easy emoluments of statuteable plunder. — The uninterrupted tenor of their peaceable and respectful behaviour from the beginning of colonization, their dutiful, zealous, and useful services during the war, though so recently and amply acknowledged in the most honourable manner by his majesty, by the late king, and by parliament, could not save them from the meditated innovations. — Parliament was influenced to adopt the pernicious project, and assuming a new power over them, have in the course of eleven years, given such decisive specimens of the spirit and consequences attending this power, as to leave no doubt concerning the effects of acquiescence under it. They have undertaken to give and grant our money without our consent, though we have ever exercised an exclusive right to dispose of our own property; statutes have been passed for extending the jurisdiction of courts of admiralty and vice-admiralty beyond their ancient limits; for depriving us of the accustomed and inestimable privilege of trial by jury, in cases affecting both life and property; for suspending the legislature of one of the colonies; for interdicting all commerce to the capital of another; and for altering fundamentally the form of government established by charter, and secured by acts of its own legislature solemnly confirmed by the crown; for exempting the “murderers” of colonists from legal trial, and in effect, from punishment; for erecting in a neighbouring province, acquired by the joint arms of Great-Britain and America, a despotism dangerous to our very existence; and for quartering soldiers upon the colonists in time of profound peace. It has also been resolved in parliament, that colonists charged with committing certain offences, shall be transported to England to be tried.

But why should we enumerate our injuries in detail? By one statute it is declared, that parliament can “of right make laws to bind us in all cases whatsoever.” What is to defend us against so enormous, so unlimited a power? Not a single man of those who assume it, is chosen by us; or is subject to our control or influence; but, on the contrary, they are all of them exempt from the operation of such laws, and an American revenue, if not diverted from the ostensible purposes for which it is raised, would actually lighten their own burdens in proportion, as they increase ours. We saw the misery to which such despotism would reduce us. We for ten years incessantly and ineffectually besieged the throne as supplicants; we reasoned, we remonstrated with parliament, in the most mild and decent language.

Administration sensible that we should regard these oppressive measures as freemen ought to do, sent over fleets and armies to enforce them. The indignation of the Americans was roused, it is true; but it was the indignation of a virtuous, loyal, and affectionate people. A Congress of delegates from the United Colonies was assembled at Philadelphia, on the fifth day of last September. We resolved again to offer an humble and dutiful petition to the King, and also addressed our fellow-subjects of Great-Britain. We have pursued every temperate, every respectful measure; we have even proceeded to break off our commercial intercourse with our fellow-subjects, as the last peaceable admonition, that our attachment to no nation upon earth should supplant our attachment to liberty. — This, we flattered ourselves, was the ultimate step of the controversy: but subsequent events have shewn, how vain was this hope of finding moderation in our enemies.

Several threatening expressions against the colonies were inserted in his majesty’s speech; our petition, tho’ we were told it was a decent one, and that his majesty had been pleased to receive it graciously, and to promise laying it before his parliament, was huddled into both houses among a bundle of American papers, and there neglected. The lords and commons in their address, in the month of February, said, that “a rebellion at that time actually existed within the province of Massachusetts-Bay; and that those concerned with it, had been countenanced and encouraged by unlawful combinations and engagements, entered into by his majesty’s subjects in several of the other colonies; and therefore they besought his majesty, that he would take the most effectual measures to inforce due obediance to the laws and authority of the supreme legislature.” — Soon after, the commercial intercourse of whole colonies, with foreign countries, and with each other, was cut off by an act of parliament; by another several of them were intirely prohibited from the fisheries in the seas near their coasts, on which they always depended for their sustenance; and large reinforcements of ships and troops were immediately sent over to general Gage.

Fruitless were all the entreaties, arguments, and eloquence of an illustrious band of the most distinguished peers, and commoners, who nobly and strenuously asserted the justice of our cause, to stay, or even to mitigate the heedless fury with which these accumulated and unexampled outrages were hurried on. — equally fruitless was the interference of the city of London, of Bristol, and many other respectable towns in our favor. Parliament adopted an insidious manoeuvre calculated to divide us, to establish a perpetual auction of taxations where colony should bid against colony, all of them uninformed what ransom would redeem their lives; and thus to extort from us, at the point of the bayonet, the unknown sums that should be sufficient to gratify, if possible to gratify, ministerial rapacity, with the miserable indulgence left to us of raising, in our own mode, the prescribed tribute. What terms more rigid and humiliating could have been dictated by remorseless victors to conquered enemies? in our circumstances to accept them, would be to deserve them.

Soon after the intelligence of these proceedings arrived on this continent, general Gage, who in the course of the last year had taken possession of the town of Boston, in the province of Massachusetts-Bay, and still occupied it a garrison, on the 19th day of April, sent out from that place a large detachment of his army, who made an unprovoked assault on the inhabitants of the said province, at the town of Lexington, as appears by the affidavits of a great number of persons, some of whom were officers and soldiers of that detachment, murdered eight of the inhabitants, and wounded many others. From thence the troops proceeded in warlike array to the town of Concord, where they set upon another party of the inhabitants of the same province, killing several and wounding more, until compelled to retreat by the country people suddenly assembled to repel this cruel aggression. Hostilities, thus commenced by the British troops, have been since prosecuted by them without regard to faith or reputation. — The inhabitants of Boston being confined within that town by the general their governor, and having, in order to procure their dismission, entered into a treaty with him, it was stipulated that the said inhabitants having deposited their arms with their own magistrate, should have liberty to depart, taking with them their other effects. They accordingly delivered up their arms, but in open violation of honour, in defiance of the obligation of treaties, which even savage nations esteemed sacred, the governor ordered the arms deposited as aforesaid, that they might be preserved for their owners, to be seized by a body of soldiers; detained the greatest part of the inhabitants in the town, and compelled the few who were permitted to retire, to leave their most valuable effects behind.

By this perfidy wives are separated from their husbands, children from their parents, the aged and the sick from their relations and friends, who wish to attend and comfort them; and those who have been used to live in plenty and even elegance, are reduced to deplorable distress.

The general, further emulating his ministerial masters, by a proclamation bearing date on the 12th day of June, after venting the grossest falsehoods and calumnies against the good people of these colonies, proceeds to “declare them all, either by name or description, to be rebels and traitors, to supersede the course of the common law, and instead thereof to publish and order the use and exercise of the law martial.” — His troops have butchered our countrymen, have wantonly burnt Charlestown, besides a considerable number of houses in other places; our ships and vessels are seized; the necessary supplies of provisions are intercepted, and he is exerting his utmost power to spread destruction and devastation around him.

We have rceived certain intelligence, that general Carelton[Carleton], the governor of Canada, is instigating the people of that province and the Indians to fall upon us; and we have but too much reason to apprehend, that schemes have been formed to excite domestic enemies against us. In brief, a part of these colonies now feel, and all of them are sure of feeling, as far as the vengeance of administration can inflict them, the complicated calamities of fire, sword and famine. We(2) are reduced to the alternative of chusing an unconditional submission to the tyranny of irritated ministers, or resistance by force. — The latter is our choice. — We have counted the cost of this contest, and find nothing so dreadful as voluntary slavery. — Honour, justice, and humanity, forbid us tamely to surrender that freedom which we received from our gallant ancestors, and which our innocent posterity have a right to receive from us. We cannot endure the infamy and guilt of resigning succeeding generations to that wretchedness which inevitably awaits them, if we basely entail hereditary bondage upon them.

Our cause is just. Our union is perfect. Our internal resources are great, and, if necessary, foreign assistance is undoubtedly attainable. — We gratefully acknowledge, as signal instances of the Divine favour towards us, that his Providence would not permit us to be called into this severe controversy, until we were grown up to our present strength, had been previously exercised in warlike operation, and possessed of the means of defending ourselves. With hearts fortified with these animating reflections, we most solemnly, before God and the world, declare, that, exerting the utmost energy of those powers, which our beneficent Creator hath graciously bestowed upon us, the arms we have been compelled by our enemies to assume, we will, in defiance of every hazard, with unabating firmness and perseverence, employ for the preservation of our liberties; being with one mind resolved to die freemen rather than to live slaves.

Lest this declaration should disquiet the minds of our friends and fellow-subjects in any part of the empire, we assure them that we mean not to dissolve that union which has so long and so happily subsisted between us, and which we sincerely wish to see restored. — Necessity has not yet driven us into that desperate measure, or induced us to excite any other nation to war against them. — We have not raised armies with ambitious designs of separating from Great-Britain, and establishing independent states. We fight not for glory or for conquest. We exhibit to mankind the remarkable spectacle of a people attacked by unprovoked enemies, without any imputation or even suspicion of offence. They boast of their privileges and civilization, and yet proffer no milder conditions than servitude or death.

In our own native land, in defence of the freedom that is our birthright, and which we ever enjoyed till the late violation of it — for the protection of our property, acquired solely by the honest industry of our fore-fathers and ourselves, against violence actually offered, we have taken up arms. We shall lay them down when hostilities shall cease on the part of the aggressors, and all danger of their being renewed shall be removed, and not before.

With an humble confidence in the mercies of the supreme and impartial Judge and Ruler of the Universe, we most devoutly implore his divine goodness to protect us happily through this great conflict, to dispose our adversaries to reconciliation on reasonable terms, and thereby to relieve the empire from the calamities of civil war.

  7. According to the Second Amendment the entire us is sanctuary and if the crown doesn’t like it,they won’t like it any better than when they marched on Concord and Lexington.

  8. Another quote from that period that I personally like is the following from the Continental Congress:

“Our words have ever avowed it,–our conduct has ever been consistent with it. We condemn, and with arms in our hands,–a resource which Freemen will never part with,–we oppose the claim and exercise of unconstitutional powers, to which neither the Crown nor Parliament were ever entitled. By the British Constitution, our best inheritance, rights, as well as duties, descend upon us: We cannot violate the latter by defending the former: We should act in diametrical opposition to both, if we permitted the claims of the British Parliament to be established, and the measures pursued in consequence of those claims to be carried into execution among us. Our sagacious ancestors provided mounds against the inundation of tyranny and lawless power on one side, as well as against that of faction and licentiousness on the other. On which side has the breach been made? Is it objected against us by the most inveterate and the most uncandid of our enemies, that we have opposed any of the just prerogatives of the Crown, or any legal exertion of those prerogatives? Why then are we accused of forgetting our allegiance? We have performed our duty: We have resisted in those cases, in which the right to resist is stipulated as expressly on our part, as the right to govern is, in other cases, stipulated on the part of the Crown. The breach of allegiance is removed from our resistance as far as tyranny is removed from legal government.”–Journals of the Continental Congress, Dec. 6, 1775, Report of the Delegates of the thirteen United Colonies in North America.

    • Flowery language as laughable back then as it is now. How strange adults even in the 21st Century believe such nonsense as it did not exist when it was written and certainly does not exist now.

      • Vlad Tepes – “Flowery language as laughable back then as it is now. How strange adults even in the 21st Century believe such nonsense as it did not exist when it was written and certainly does not exist now.”

Yes, of course I realize that you are severely mentally retarded.

      • Can the site administrators please shadow ban this troll? He is always dishonest, and a trouble maker. I don’t mind a good argument with a gun control advocate, but this is ridiculous.

Shadow ban him, and let him talk to himself.

    • I might add these no good bastards established a country for the filthy rich and by the filthy rich, even denying the common white man the right to vote. And so it remains to this very day with insults to democracy such as the Electoral College and Gerrymandering.

President Donald Trump isn’t the only problem. As Big Money floods our political system, and some in power are intent on making it harder for certain people to vote, we need a movement to save our democracy.

      Here are 10 steps:

      1. Make voter registration automatic for all eligible voters, using the information they’ve already provided the Department of Motor Vehicles or another government agency. This has already been implemented in several states, including Oregon, and it works. In 2014, over 1 in 5 Americans were eligible to vote but did not register. Automatic registration would automatically change this.

      2. Pass a new Voting Rights Act, setting uniform national voting standards and preventing states from engaging in any form of voter suppression, such as voter ID laws, the purging of voter rolls and inaccessible and inadequate polling places.

      3. Implement public financing of elections, in which public funds match small donations–thereby eliminating the advantage of big money.

      4. Require public disclosure of the sources of all political donations. Much of that is now secret, so no one is held accountable.

      5. End the revolving door between serving in government and lobbying. Too often, members of Congress, their staffs, cabinet members and top White House personnel take lucrative lobbying jobs after leaving government. In turn, lobbyists take important positions in government. This revolving door must stop. It creates conflicts between the public interest and private greed.

      6. Ban members of Congress from owning specific shares of stock while they’re in office. Require that they hold their investments in index funds, so they won’t favor particular companies while carrying out their public duties.

      7. Require that all candidates running for Congress and the presidency release their tax returns so the American people know of any potential financial conflicts of interests before they’re elected.

      8. Eliminate gerrymandered districts by creating independent redistricting commissions. Some states–Arizona, California, Michigan, and Colorado, for example–have established nonpartisan commissions to ensure that congressional maps are drawn fairly, without racial or partisan bias. Other states should follow their lead.

      9. Make the Electoral College irrelevant. The presidency should be awarded to the candidate who receives the most votes. Period. States should agree to award all their Electoral College votes to the winner of the popular vote by joining the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact.

10 and finally: Fight for a Supreme Court that will reverse its Citizens United decision, which interpreted the First Amendment to prevent Congress or state governments from limiting political spending.

Follow these 10 steps and begin to make our democracy work again.

        • While many of Vlad Tepes’ posts are pure trolling, many of his 10 points have merit and are worthy of consideration.

The only point that I emphatically disagree with is where a popular vote determines the Presidency. Under that system, a single state would choose our nation’s president if that single state had 51% of the population.

We must not allow a system where a single state (or even a few states) can dictate national policy for all states. That would be “tyranny of the majority” and rails against our nation’s entire premise of allowing for different states to optimize for different values — and having a federal government which supports ALL of our states.

        • Well there ya go, your premise is flawed, so therefore any solution is corrupt.

          In your zeal to cut and paste an article from some left wing source you ignored this fundamental fact;

𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙐𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙎𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙨 𝙄𝙎 𝙉𝙊𝙏 𝘼 𝘿𝙀𝙈𝙊𝘾𝙍𝘼𝘾𝙔. It is a Republic, and a Constitutional (Read: Bill of Rights) Republic at that.

Calling it a Democracy is the lefts biggest lie, told so often that the bovine cud chewing media never correct them.

The Truth is our founding fathers abhorred a Democracy calling it the Tyranny of The Majority.

So when your flawed list mentions auto voter enrollment, remember choosing not to enroll IS THEIR CHOICE, no different than a Senator voting “Present” on a bill.

But of course in a Tyranny, we will force people to comply… how very Leftist of you, and how very Democratic of you.

          Thomas

        • Vlad Tepes writes “…we need a movement to save our democracy….”

This should be the quote my comments above were referencing.

        • Thomas is 100% correct. You can always tell who the ignorant fools are (on both sides) by their use of “democracy”! Our nation was never established under the ideology of a democracy, for if it had been there would be no need for a Constitution which prevents mob rule. Our Constitution was designed to be UNCHANGEABLE! Amendments are only used to further detail/define and enhance what is already there, yet our corrupt government has used amendments to change the meaning to suit their needs, not the needs of the people.

Anyone who agrees with the 10 steps vlad t. provided needs to go back to reading comprehension class!

          1. [Make voter registration automatic for all eligible voters…] – doesn’t take into account illegals, dead, and fictitious individuals. Also state and local records are easily manipulated. We also don’t need to register voters who do NOT pay attention or care about what is going on — that is how leftists get elected.

          2. [Pass a new Voting Rights Act, setting uniform national voting standards and preventing states from engaging in any form of voter suppression, such as voter ID laws, the purging of voter rolls and inaccessible and inadequate polling places.] — Starts out sounding good and then the leftist ra takes over, like preventing voter ID or purging voter polls (of illegals, dead, and criminals not allowed to vote). THERE ARE NO INACCESSIBLE OR INADEQUATE POLLING PLACES – it is individuals who refuse to get off their assses and go vote!

          3. [Implement public financing of elections, in which public funds match small donations–thereby eliminating the advantage of big money.] — There should be NO donations, PERIOD! All funding should be provided EQUALLY by public funds, and all candidates should receive equal advertising and the government should be provided a specific amount of air time on ALL means of media. This would prevent any candidate from having dominance over any of the others due to funds or air time. Advertising should NOT include unconstitutional campaign promises.

          4. [Require public disclosure of the sources of all political donations. Much of that is now secret, so no one is held accountable.] If #3 was in effect then this wouldn’t be necessary!

          5. [End the revolving door between serving in government and lobbying. Too often, members of Congress, their staffs, cabinet members and top White House personnel take lucrative lobbying jobs after leaving government. In turn, lobbyists take important positions in government. This revolving door must stop. It creates conflicts between the public interest and private greed.] Agreed! I’m surprised a leftist like vla T. included this!

          6. [Ban members of Congress from owning specific shares of stock while they’re in office. Require that they hold their investments in index funds, so they won’t favor particular companies while carrying out their public duties.] Needs to also include preventing an elected official from participating in any investing while in office or within the 5 years following them leaving office!

          7. [Require that all candidates running for Congress and the presidency release their tax returns so the American people know of any potential financial conflicts of interests before they’re elected.] This is unnecessary and against the Constitution, but it could be required that their financial information for the years they are IN office must be made public.

          8. [Eliminate gerrymandered districts by creating independent redistricting commissions. Some states–Arizona, California, Michigan, and Colorado, for example–have established nonpartisan commissions to ensure that congressional maps are drawn fairly, without racial or partisan bias. Other states should follow their lead] — Funny, BWAHAHAHA — Commiefornia? BWAHAHAHAHA! Colorado? BWAHAHAHAH!
Michigan? BWAHAHAHA! Three leftist states that are controlled by one or more major cities full of leftists. The solution is for the states to establish the SAME criteria for elections that the federal government has, electoral college votes for each county — this would prevent these states, as well as others, from being manipulated and controlled by majority leftist cities.

          9. [Make the Electoral College irrelevant. The presidency should be awarded to the candidate who receives the most votes. Period. States should agree to award all their Electoral College votes to the winner of the popular vote by joining the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact.] NOT EVEN WORTH READING! The electoral college was designed to prevent a handful of high population states from always controlling the outcome of elections — mob rule!

10 [and finally: Fight for a Supreme Court that will reverse its Citizens United decision, which interpreted the First Amendment to prevent Congress or state governments from limiting political spending.] This would NOT be an issue if #3 was implemented as I amended it!

Lets add two provisions to the Constitution — 1) ALL legislation (laws, bills, regs, acts, etc.) submitted by congress must first be reviewed by the SCOTUS for constitutionality! This in itself would stop 99% of unconstitutional laws and cut the SCOTUS’ job immensely because there would be no need for individual cases tying to establish constitutionality and stop the states from creating and implementing illegal/unconstitutional laws. 2) Provide immediate removal of ANY elected official that submits and/or supports any legislation that is deemed “blatantly” unconstitutional (such as gun control laws) by the SCOTUS! This would effectively remove all leftists from elected office! 3) Also provide removal of any SCOTUS justice who overwhelmingly sides against the Constitution or violates his authority (as John Roberts did).

        • RattlerJake i have to say i love pretty much all you have said here. Any law presented that is blatantly unconstitutional i would say should have the politician not only immediately removed from office but also charged with attempted treason and all moneys earned while in office taken from them.
I strongly agree with number 3 about donations etc. It is one of the major reasons crony capitalism has replaced true free market capitalism.
Number 9 is another I strongly agree with you on. It needs to be done so that dense populations (often in more ways than one it seems) cant force their will on everyone else. If they want it that bad let them make it law in their town and then let them simmer in their own stew…. Including raising the money to pay for extra policing etc in their locale

      • The Dems have absolute control of the House. Why haven’t they passed these? Even if they expect them to fail or be vetoed, they could make a statement about their values and beliefs, like the Republicans’ 30+ Obamacare repeals while he was in office.

      • In #1, Vlad pushes for “automatic” voter registration from government sources, like when getting a driver’s license. Then, in #2, Vlad suggests that a voter I.D. is voter suppression.

Curious how some people think it’s racist or suppression to require a person to have a Voter I.D., but it isn’t a problem to force those same people to get an I.D. to drive or carry a concealed firearm.

      • To Rattlerjack

”””””””””””””””””””’All funding should be provided EQUALLY by public funds, and all candidates should receive equal advertising and the government should be provided a specific amount of air time on ALL means of media. This would prevent any candidate from having dominance over any of the others due to funds or air time. Advertising should NOT include unconstitutional campaign promises.”””””””””””””””””’

You do realize that is Socialism?????? You fell right into that one.

  9. (steps up on soap box)

Words matter people. Please choose your words carefully when discussing extremely important topics such as inalienable rights.

… counties that have declared themselves Second Amendment sanctuaries make clear their dedication to use all lawful means to protect their constitutional rights.

We should not be talking about using “lawful means” since legislatures frequently pass obscene laws which are neither just, righteous, decent, nor in conformance with state and federal constitutions. Instead, we should talk about using RIGHTEOUS means to protect all of our inalienable, natural, and God-given rights whether or not someone wrote them in a constitution, whether or not defending those rights is “lawful”.

Law-enforcement authorities have scarce resources and must choose how to allocate them. Work to solve murders and robberies, or track down gun owners because they have rifles with those oh-so-deadly pistol grips or adjustable stocks? That’s a no-brainer.

The only “no-brainer” is that law enforcement will allocate their limited resources however their overlords tell them to do so. If their overlords tell them to prioritize imprisoning righteous firearm owners, many/most law enforcement personnel will do just that. Never ever assume that law enforcement or their overlords are honorable and righteous. They might be. And they might not be.

But those who support filling the prisons with law-abiding citizens just because they have … a rifle … The Second Amendment was adopted to prevent exactly those kinds of infringements.

The Second Amendment is an ideal — words on paper. Those words on paper have no magic power to prevent infringements. It is up to the good people of our nation to stop infringements. Thus, the Second Amendment is simply a rallying cry.

  10. Hey Vlad, are you still up for impaling 20,000 moslems, just like in the good old days? 🙂

All this talk about banning guns is just inflaming everyone to no purpose. We ALL know exactly what the meaning of the 2nd is: S H A L L N O T B E INFRINGED.
I understand that most libtards are highly uneducated and don’t understand the meanings of words, but these words are so simple that even those insane idiot kindergarten graduates should know.

There are a LOT of us old timers that know what is coming, and I guarantee we won’t go quietly into that long night…

  11. WE are just 3 months and 17 days away from the most important day in the history of Firearms Rights. How many know of the significance of that day? How will YOU honor it? Everyone wants to be a Patriot…Until it’s time to do something Patriotic. Keep Your Powder Dry.
