When nearly 180 women from the Cincinnati, Ohio area attended a concealed carry certification class, learning the fundamentals of personal protection with firearms, they “re-defined the term ‘woke,’” according to the chairman of the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms.

According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, 179 women from one of the largest black congregations in Cincinnati jammed into the basement of the New Prospect Baptist Church, learning the fundamentals of firearms safety and handgun marksmanship. The report said it was one of the largest women-only concealed carry classes ever held in the Buckeye State.

“We’ve heard lots of rhetoric over the years about ‘common-sense gun safety,’ but this event in Cincinnati was genuine gun safety in action,” said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb. “This event was designed to familiarize women with firearms and their safe use, and I was genuinely impressed by the attendance. Good for these ladies and good for the church for allowing this class to be held.”

Women paid a small fee to underwrite the use of the church space, underscoring their seriousness. The course was taught by certified instructors and was the idea of Pastor Rev. Damon Lynch III and Cincinnati Councilman Jeff Pastor.

“The Citizens Committee supports the notion of voluntary firearms training,” Gottlieb observed, “and we can only applaud all of those who attended the nine-hour course because they reportedly faced some unpleasant weather to get there.

“We’re convinced the proverbial pendulum is swinging back toward true common sense when so many women get past the demonization and fear mongering about firearms,” he added. “Whether the people who attended this course just wanted to know about firearms safety, or learn the fundamentals necessary to defend themselves, they can be justifiably proud of themselves, and so are we.”

With more than 650,000 members and supporters nationwide, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (www.ccrkba.org) is one of the nation’s premier gun rights organizations. As a non-profit organization, the Citizens Committee is dedicated to preserving firearms freedoms through active lobbying of elected officials and facilitating grass-roots organization of gun rights activists in local communities throughout the United States.

    • This is what real “community organizing” looks like. People looking after each other, helping each other _learn_ actual facts instead of fearmongering propaganda, and defend themselves if necessary – and not assuaging their own fears by trying to disarm others.

  1. After seeing the success of an 11 yo girl open carrying an AR15 into a courthouse, I have decided to let my 10 year old son open carry a Glock 19 to school. I checked and the elementary school has no official policy on students bringing guns to school. I bought him a safariland ALS holster. He’s been carrying guns while hunting since age 5. We need to make this normal.

We need to arm teachers AND students!

We need to arm blacks! Especially black women. I want more liberals owning guns too!

We need to show the world that we are not racist!

  2. The scariest thing in America is an articulate black person with a gun.
The second most scariest thing are all those black gun owners voting for President Trump.
He got 14% of the black vote before. I expect he will get 20% to 25% in 2020.

    The Democrats are finished.

    Btw
The GOA helped to get Maj Toure of Black Guns Matter $25,000 to tour several cities teaching CCW classes and promoting 2A out reach. The NRA also promised him money. But later reneged on their promise.

  3. I’m speculating the gun control advocates do not wish to see wemon arming themselves with firearms.. I believe that if or when “they,” attempt to confiscate a woman’s firearm “they” are going to have a great difficuly.

    • As I’ve said before, I think this is real progress towards persuading regular Americans that gun ownership is a good idea.

And the fact that we are discussing minority women learning safe handling and operation of firearms is particularly appreciated, this is how we preserve our rights.

But I do disagree regarding 11-year-olds carrying a loaded A.R. 15’s into government buildings.
No more than I think 11-year-old should be able to drive cars or trucks or purchase alcoholic beverages or cigarettes.

And as anyone who’s been through basic or AIT can testify, even 19 and 20-year-olds have multiple A.D.’s, even with the best of training and supervision.

As the article details, these women are adults and have the maturity of age and experience to guide their decisions about firearms. In fact, their desire for a training session shows they understand the grave responsibility carrying a firearm entails, another sign of their maturity.

  4. All well and good, as long as the newcomers understand the responsibility of knowing when NOT to “use” it (brandish). Because that is a VERY important thing that I think gets overlooked. Whatever gets the 2A movement some sunlight and shows that it has nothing to do with race or political affiliation, I’m all for it. It exists for one reason, self defense (and that includes from the government – actually mostly why it exists). Nothing else matters.

    • I agree – with the one caveat: assuming local laws about “brandishing” are reasonable. Very often just a draw-and-present will end a potential violent attack, and a few states’ laws damn near criminalize that act unless the victim actually shoots.

  5. Damn right,it is your right,as a American it’s your birthright and as a human it’s a natural right to self defense. Leftard’s would disagree how ever they are just uneducated lefTard’s and incorrect.

  6. I have mixed feelings about ghetto dwellers possessing firearms… when they DO possess firearms in the ghetto, people die…..js

    • If the lawful citizens get to live, and the thugs are the ones to die, I’d consider it a win all around. The only better outcome would be the thugs deciding the citizens aren’t easy targets and aren’t worth attacking.

  7. Every human has a right to defend their lives and the lives of others with the use (or threat) of lethal force. It is a universal law of nature that all life forms exercise. This right isn’t granted, it’s innate and interwoven in the fabric of life and survival, and anyone attempting to dampen, reduce or otherwise restrict this natural right using the most effective tools is going against the very balance of life itself. We do not have venom, wings, horns, claws or fangs. We have our tools and our wit.

It echoes from a deeper conflict between individuals and those who despise personal responsibility, self-actualization and individual liberty. Free will should be nurtured, not stifled, so long as it doesn’t encroach onto another’s. And to put yourself at the mercy and trust of a body of governance with zero functional personal accountability, is the height of wanton foolishness and intellectual maturity.

  8. I support arming blacks, women, students, Jews and teachers. As us old white men die off – we have to pass the torch to this new generation of shooters.

It really irritates me that my middle school -age grandchildren can’t bring guns to school. I let my 10 year old grandson pocket carry a J frame when we goes to play outside in the street. Why can’t he take it with him to school?

  9. I’ve skimmed all the posts. Nobody has mentioned that the range these women were using was in a CHURCH BASEMENT! What could more American. A house of worship supporting our God given right to have firearms.
