ATN’s new digital scope is even better than we hoped it would be.

Choosing a night-vision scope can be a tall task. There are a lot of specifics to consider, and typically a lot of dollars to spend. So, when ATN’s new X-Sight 4K Pro came in the mail, we didn’t know what to expect.

This is one of ATN’s Smart Ultra HD scopes, meaning you can connect it to your phone and unlock a plethora of modern features.

This isn’t the first digital smart scope to hit the market, but it’s about as good as you’re going to get for less than $1,000.

First, you have to decide which lens is right for you. ATN offers this scope in a 3-14x model, which costs $699, or a 5-20x model, which costs $799. We were fortunate enough to try the 5-20x model, which definitely exceeded expectations.

Night Vision

Night vision is certainly what people are most interested in when it comes to these scopes. The X-Sight 4K Pro uses an infrared attachment, which helps produce legitimate, effective night vision, making this the ultimate optic for hunting wild hogs and predators.

A big issue you’ll see with a lot of scopes in this price range is a lack of effectiveness during both the daytime and nighttime. They’ll either work well at night and have a really blurry picture during the day, or vice versa. This X-Sight 4K Pro breaks that mold, though, without breaking the bank in the process.

Record Your Hunts

Again, this isn’t the first scope to do this, but ATN took it up a notch once more. This scope records in 1080P, which can’t be said for most smart scopes under the $1,000 mark. And, this scope boasts a whopping 18 hours of battery life, which makes a world of difference during a hunt.

Anyone who’s ever tried to self-film with a GoPro can relate to the frustration of battling battery life and SD cards. Not only do you have more battery life than you’d ever need on a single hunt, but you don’t even have to press a button to start recording. Using the “Recoil-Activated Video” feature, hunters can focus on making their shot, as the scope will record automatically for them.

You can simply set your preference for how long you’d like the record before and after the shot. The scope will buffer while the RAV setting is turned on, so when the moment comes, you don’t miss anything important before or after the shot.

One Shot Zero

You’ll hear about these “one-shot zero” features not really working on these digital scopes. That absolutely was not the case with this one, though. After shooting my first group from 100 yards, I simply moved crosshairs to the center of that group and saved it. I hit bullseye with the very next shot. So, it’s safe to say it works, and it’s far less time-consuming than playing the guessing game with a traditional scope.

Rangefinder & Ballistic Calculator

A lot of scopes in this price range don’t have either of these features, so these are just icing on the cake. The smart rangefinder can take two easy readings to range you in and adjust your reticle for the change in distance. Similarly, the ballistic calculator will adjust your reticle for changes in wind, temperature and humidity.

  1. I want one of these scopes with a 1-6x power range and a low-definition thermal fusion overlay added. That would be my ideal optic

    • They exist. ATN calls them their Thor line. They just came out with the updated ones similar to these night vision ones.

  2. Don’t expect very good performance using the highest quality AA batteries. Buy an external battery pack and it’ll work great.

  3. I have a few questions:
    1. You did a fairly decent job making it clear this is sponsored content. That being said, it seems like a copywriters attempt to make it sound like TTAG actually received a 5-20x copy of the scope. Did a full-time staffmember at TTAG actually receive the product, and can we expect a legitimate review of it?
    2. Assuming YES to #1 (that TTAG actually has the product in hands) I’m extremely curious about parallax and the one shot zero feature. How accurate is the offset you make at 100 yards when you start engaging at 500 yards?
    3. Assuming YES to #1 how tight is the “eyebox” on the scope? Left/Right forward/back I’m curious how much lee-way you have while keeping the screen clear? One of the benefits of a digital scope is that having a consistent cheek weld shouldn’t matter since you’re not looking through multiple planes of glass, overlaying crosshairs over your target… you’re looking at a captured image with an overlaid digital crosshair, so no matter the angle you’re viewing the image, the crosshairs don’t change their position in relation to the objective/target image. As such, a rifle that’s zero’d for 1 shooter should translate to a perfect zero for a physically different shooter even with a different eye position, left/right handed, etc.

    • Who do you work (if at all!) for? Leupold? Trijicon? Burris? Every article has a “function” on your Keyboard. It is called Esc, Backspace, or that tiny “X” in the upper right corner of the Browser. Try it…It DOES work!

  4. From my experience ATN customer support disappears as soon as you pay for something. I bought an ATN X-Sight a few years ago. As a first generation digital scope it was interesting but could have used some improvement from a contrast update. However, I haven’t used it much because after just 2-3 trips to the range, it developed a stress crack in the housing. I looked through the supplied papers that stated that the warranty could be found online. The supplied link was 404 dead and the warranty info that I could find was useless. I tried contacting ATN online customer support several times without response. Without any other way to contact ATN customer service, I tried to get a response through customer service where I purchased it. ATN wouldn’t even respond to their retailer concerning this product. These products are replaced by the next generation so fast that they become obsolete and forgotten. A lot to pay for something that at best won’t be supported a year from now or a worst could be a paper weight after a few uses.

    • Huh. Interesting. I like the specs. But this warranty business deserves a response, especially for sponsored content.

How much does this sucker weigh?

      • i bought this scope and had problems with the Micro SD Card. i contacted ATN sent the scope back, and they sent me a new scope with in 3 weeks. hats off to ATN

  5. Meh. It’s “night vision” in the way that having an IR flashlight and looking through a camera phone is “night vision”.

But, yeah, it’s amazing what you can do with cheap Chinesium and some good (stolen I’m sure) software.

When will they go on sale at Hazard Fraught?

        • Stan?! Stan?! Is dat you? I might of thought so! You cheese-eating collumna! What does the Ollie name infer? What about dem Chiner scopes? Pretty darn good? Yeah? Hey Stan…PM me! I gots to get a message to you about seeing your wife at Motel 6 in Redding!

      • You mean Ave. E in Lancaster, Cal. Near Snookies Strip Bar And Sierra Hwy? I thought they closed that place due to drugs and prostitution! Hey! What are you doing over there anyway?!

  6. Sci-fi movie quality…Maybe like the ones the assassin’s used trying to kill Sean Connery…The Law Enforcement Space movie thriller “Outland !”

  7. Yep, ATN has a poor service record. So, I’d not buy one from them.

That said, this scope ups the game for other manufacturers. And, one day a high-quality manufacturer will produce a product with similar or better features that will be a game changer.

  8. i bought the ATN x-sight 4K pro. i had a problem with the sd slot. sent the unit back to ATN. they returned a new unit to me with in 2 weeks. i had a good result with ATN
