As a point, you might want to consider a heavier bullet. 62gr or 75gr. If you have a stock SCAR 16, the twist is 1/7. While it will shoot the 55gr, the groups will open up at distances more than if you used a heavier weight bullet. How much? Depending on distance, a couple of inches on spread. On shorter range shots, 50-100 meters (or yards, whichever you prefer), the weight won’t make much of a difference.
If the intent of your shooting AAR from your last 3Gun match was to improve ammo consistency, you might want to consider pressing your own ammo or going with a heavier bullet. See you at the range and good luck!

While I can understand your excitement at seeing a big ole box ‘o FREE bullets, and yes, I AM jealous, you need perspective. I normally wouldn’t recommend a trip to CA to anyone I liked but, in your case you need to go on a warm day and hang at Huntington or Seal beach for a day maybe two.
You’ll feel mightily blessed. You might even be inspired to shoot straighter. Trust me on this.

Who cares if some factory sponsored shootist gets gob smacked with a case of quality ammo for free. What about the rest of us? I am personally pretty well stocked up with ammo since I had the foresight to see all this coming. You don’t have to be Nostradamus to read the tea leaves on this stuff. Still, rubbing it in our noses is a little cheesy.
This is only partially directed at you, because I’ve seen it in lots of other places, but some of us didn’t get into firearms until just before things hit the fan. Some of us couldn’t afford to stockpile. Some of us were inspired to get a firearm for the first time BECAUSE of Sandy Hook and the ensuing legislative storm. Stockpiling ammo was without a doubt wise, and it’s certainly paying off for those that did. No question of that. Ragging on the rest of us who, for a variety of reasons, did not isn’t very cool.
The fan has not even be plugged in yet much less begun to rotate or oscillate.
Anyone here lost power other than a storm? Seen a bare supermarket shelf? Had a visit where anything was physically siezed from your home?

I partially understand the ammo hoarding mentality as it is comforting to have some ammo cans full and in your basement. I however haven’t gone too crazy doing it because lately I can get any ammo I need here in KC. Sure it costs more, and it’s harder to find, plus I don’t have the money to throw at hoarding ammo either. The idea of putting away 10s of thousands of rounds seems useless to me unless you believe in scenarios such as “I am Legend” or “Walking Dead” where you are alive, surrounded by things that will kill you, and there is seemingly no government left to intervene… IF guns of all kinds were deemed illegal tomorrow, and you would go to jail for simply shooting one, what are you gonna do with the ammo? Go shoot it at the range?? When “they” come to get you after a neighbor rats you out, you could put up a Branch Davidian-like stand I guess, but we know after you take a couple of their guys out, your just gonna go down in flames… What? You think you’re gonna shoot down a Drone? If/when $#!+ hits the fan, and they want you dead, you’re soon dead. I agree fully with some of thoughts of those deemed “paranoid”, and I understand and appreciate being willing and able to fight back if it comes to it, but realistically, we will be divided and conquered easily if it comes down to it. Short of going back to runners and/ or a Pony Express method, they would see every correspondence as people attempted to band together to form a militia. Way I look at it, one of two things will happen. You’ll use a couple hundred rounds of your hoarded ammo defending yourself from attack until they get tired of toying around with you and finish the job, or… nothing will happen and you will die naturally, sitting on a pile of unused ammo.
Pretty as a picture. FYI, I managed to score 880 rounds (two spam cans) of 7.62X54R and a case of good .40 cal range ammo (I already had plenty of JHP) in the last two weeks. Prices were 10-15% above what I used to pay before the Great Ammunition Extinction of 2012.
That is a beautiful thing.. Almost brings a tear to my eye! It’s amazing to get that much ammo during this drought.

Gander Mountain had Remington 223 ammo when I was there yesterday. I did a double take when I saw it. It was priced at $34 a box. I thought to myself $34 bucks for 50 rounds seems a little pricey but it’s a good sign that it’s here. Then I noticed it was a box of 20. No wonder it was in stock. That’s $1700 per 1000 rounds.
CTD has had Tula 9mm at $35 a box…F’ that. I walked into WM yesterday and picked up 200 rounds of .40 for $70. What people have to realize is this…just take your time. I have picked up over 1000 rounds of 9mm in the past three months without paying over $20 a box…sometimes at $15 a box.
I’ll take the fired brass off your hands…. 😉
