“We are pleased to lend our support to President Trump’s nomination of Judge Barrett to the Supreme Court and urge the Senate to approve her nomination as expeditiously as possible,” said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF Senior Vice President and General Counsel. “We are confident Judge Barrett will serve our nation with distinction as an Associate Justice of our nation’s highest court and her service will reaffirm the importance of originalist jurists when protecting the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding Americans.”

    • Ford remembers clearly now.

It was Amy who pushed her down on the bed.

This close to the election Democrats better treat her like a Lady.

    • This reminds of a satirical article someone posted the other day. ‘I was raped by whoever Trump picks to replace Ginsburg on the Supreme Court’

    • Don’t you worry, she’ll disappoint the f/k out of you once she gets seated. Remember when you thought that a Trump win meant that silencers would be available at every gas station and K-mart without paperwork? Wait and see how they play the 2A crowd like a fiddle…its a open joke at this point, and you’re old enough to know better.

      • I never thought that personally. To pass silencer legislation would mean a Congress not hellbent on stopping Trump, which the Democrats in the House were and certain Republicans, and a GOP that could articulate why the liberal media’s throwing a tirade was due to misinformation.

      • All this plays out in your head like a commie mouth breathers dream… lol….
“They” might play you like a fiddle, but it’s the commies who are suffering due to this SCOTUS pick…. lol

      • Hey genius, it was between Trump and Hillary. Trump already got two SCOTUS picks, and has declared gun stores as essential businesses. He’s not as pro-gun as I’d like, but he’s much better than Hillary, Biden, and Harris.

  1. Everything I’m hearing about Amy makes her seem like a great jurist.

I thought that Trump was supposed to be a sexist, racist homophobe. Nominating a woman for the highest court doesn’t seem very sexist, but I may be wrong.

    • I heard his other pick to replace RBG was Barbara Lagoa.

Barbara Lagoa is of cuban discent, which doesn’t sound very racist either.

      • She’s unproven. She looks potentially good, but has no deep record to explore.

In a few years, she could prove to be a dynamite court pick…

        • I agree. I was convinced it was going to be Lagoa. Cuban-American, from Florida. Daughter of refugees who escaped Communism. AND worked pro-bono on the Elian Ganzalas case!

That’s a lot of Win in an election year, where FL is always on the line.

But you are 100% correct, ACB has a longer record. And we simply cannot risk another David Souter, or John “The Weasel” Roberts.

  2. Yes, this is good for our hopes of the Supreme court taking new Second Amendment cases, applying that strict scrutiny and originalist review the issue cries out for, and striking down a shit ton of bad laws.

Which we will need no matter who wins this election. For Trump is not a gun person, does not comprehend the Second Amendment and only sided with us when he needed our votes and the NRA’s $30,000,000.

I make no predictions. Just hope that come Wednesday, January 20, 2021, we will see the Oval Office fumigated and the gaudy trappings of a megalomaniac boxed up for the Smithsonian.

        • You can just see the Trump Derangement Syndrome working on enuf’s tiny little mind from the first paragraph to the last

Cognitive Dissonance two words enuf will never understand.

        • “only sided with us when he needed our votes”

You are not “US” enuf; you are a moron and a fool who votes with hate against the 2nd Amendment.

    • So you’re pro-Amy Coney Barrett, AND Joe Stuffthecourts Biden?

Were you taught Common Core Math as a child, or are you just a special kind of stupid?

    • Clicking on Enuf’s Username takes you to the Biden campaign page. The candidate who will assign Beto, “”Hell yes, we’re going to take your AR-15, your AK-47,” ” to lead his gun control agenda.

@ Enuf What happened to the Lincoln project link? Did you finally figure out what losers they are?

      • Ugh! Didn’t know about clicking on the trolls name.

I tried clicking on the blue “enuf” and…Yup!…directly to a “give Biden your money and soul” website.

I have noticed that “enuf”s” rhetoric is ramping up on a daily basis…trying to earn those McBloom Bucks by portraying itself as a rational firearm owner and then pimping for the DNC and Biden…his whole story reeks like the skunk that sprayed one of my dogs a couple of months ago. The Shepherd and the Aussie ganged up on the next skunk (same one?), teased it into spraying and then pulled the stinker in half as revenge. Skunk was tested…not rabid. Life is Good in the Northern Rockies.

      • I noticed that a week ago when I accidentally clicked his user name.

Look, I’ll support your right to vote for someone else that you think better represents you and your highest ideals. But if you think ANY politician running for our highest office isn’t a megalomaniac, you are extremely naive. Biden is of no better character than Trump, and probably of worse because he does a better job hiding it.

Also, it’s silly to think that more socialist government can fix your problems. YOU as an individual are the one most in control of your success, happiness, and fulfillment. It would be very empowering for the authoritarians, Marxist, and socialist masquerading as “liberals” to figure that out. There is nothing at all liberal about the democrat party these days, they have far more in common with the extreme right.

        • “Biden is of no better character than Trump, and probably of worse because he does a better job hiding it.”

No, he doesn’t hide it, there is an internet worth of videos of biden’s true character. The main street media sadly ignores each and every bigoted comment from him. And even sadder the msm still influences a huge block of people and voters.

If the msm turned on biden he would be finished in a matter of a few days.

    • “Yes, this is good for our hopes of the Supreme court taking new Second Amendment cases, applying that strict scrutiny and originalist review the issue cries out for, and striking down a shit ton of bad laws.”

      No thanks to you.

    • @enuf: TDS…Much!!! It must be horrible having President Trump living in your head 24/7 Rent free. Such hatred usually manifests itself from a deep seated mental anguish in one’s childhood. Often attributed to a lack of nurturing of a parent. Typically the mother figure, but it also has clinical connections to the absence of a father figure in early adolescence. Typically after counseling and much sole searching this deep seated hatred can be addressed at which time the causes of the anger can be discovered and treated. Peace Be With You.

    • She’s being prepared for what’s inbound. She’s already experienced Feinstein’s “The dogma lives loudly in you” attack during her senate confirmation…

  3. The Democrats are going to fight Trump every inch of the way, I don’t think this is a done deal and would be very surprised if she is in before the election. Kinda sorta, because it’s all smoke screens and games. Dempublicans or Republicrats, good cop, bad cop, same precinct

    • You’re right, anything can happen.

And Leftist scum are just the ones to try something…

      • Don’t think it’s a done deal either…I hope she & her families have some fortitude(look for attacks on her “daring” to have a Downs Syndrome child. And kidnapping those poor Haitian kid’s). Didja see Bill Maher whining about her Christianity? “She speaks in toungues!” Oh the horror😏😏😏

  4. I’ve just got done dissecting the 2a, the way I’m reading it is we as individuals are not protected under it, however the 4th and 10th give us the right to be armed. That’s the way I’m reading it

    • The Second Amendment is pretty clear that it protects individuals. And remember, none of the Amendments “give” rights, they protect what are supposed to be pre-existing rights. The Federalists even saw a bill of rights as unnecessary, redundant, and possibly dangerous, because as Hamilton in Federalist 84 stated, “Why say that things shall not be done for which there is no power to do?” The reason a bill of rights was added was to satisfy the anti-Federalists, who wouldn’t support ratification of the Constitution without one.

      • I like where the commas are put better in the 4th&10th. I read, in the 2nd the Feds can’t keep you from having a Nuke if you belong to a well regulated militia. The fourth says I can be secure, the tenth says it’s up to the States, or the people. Let them gunm takers fight against three not one amnendments

        • The Second Amendment doesn’t say anything about belonging to a well-regulated militia. It states that a well-regulated militia is necessary to the security of a free state. “Well-regulated” just meant good quality. You can find references to a well-regulated drawing room, a well-regulated horse, a well-regulated life, etc… in the writings of the time. “Militia” was distinguished from “select militia,” and refers to the general population capable of bearing arms.

The Second Amendment is clearer if you apply its language to different subjects:

“A well-balanced diet being necessary to good health, the right of the people to produce and consume food shall not be infringed.”

Now no one would interpret that as saying that only those in adherence to some government-defined “well-balanced diet” have the right to produce and consume food. Rather, the amendment basically is stating that, given the importance of a well-balanced diet to good health, the individual right to produce and consume food shall not be infringed.

The Second Amendment is the same. It states that given the importance to a free society of general population well trained in the usage of arms, the individual right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. Rather than being mysteriously worded or cryptic as many claim, it is actually one of the most plain-language, plain-English amendments of the Constitution. The problem is that if is plain-English for 1789, not much of the 20th and now the 21st century.

Sort of like the Civil War song, “And we’ll all feel gay when Johnny Comes marching home!” They weren’t talking about homosexuality.

        • From Webster’s dictionary of the American language, 1828:

REG’ULATED, participle passive Adjusted by rule, method or forms; put in good order; subjected to rules or restrictions.

Yes, there it is, ‘subjected to rule or restriction‘.

You folks know what a rule restriction is, right?

Rules and restrictions such as our promulgated in the gun control act of 1968 or the national firearms act of 1934.

Both of which could have been ‘repealed and replaced‘ during the first two years of trump’s term when he had a majority in both houses of Congress and held the presidency, but he and Republicans chose to retain the restrictions on your firearms ownership.

He is such a ConMan, he has fooled at least half of the Americans.

        • “He is such a ConMan, he has fooled at least half of the Americans.”

I agree that Paul Ryan is a snake in the grass, just like his buddy Mitt.

        • Miner49er,

First, what is the object of the adjective “well-regulated” in that sentence? I’ll give you a hint: it’s not the right to keep and bear arms.

Second, you looked up and cherry-picked a literal definition of the word “regulated” in a discussion regarding the meaning of a colloquial phrase “well-regulated,” for which we have numerous other examples. You understand what context is, right?

As my name suggests, I’ve been following this blog and the commenters here for some time, but never posted before. I just have to ask: don’t you ever get tired of always being wrong?

        • “Well-regulated” just meant good quality. You can find references to a well-regulated drawing room, a well-regulated horse, a well-regulated life, etc…”

“In proper working order” is more accurate, and there’s concrete proof of that –

At the time it was written, tall clocks, AKA ‘Grandfather Clocks’ were the most accurate way to measure time, due to the long pendulum going back-and-forth below the clock mechanism.

Books on clock repair at the time give instructions on how to adjust the speed of the clock from running too fast or too slow. The nut on the bottom of the pendulum that adjusts how far up or down the pendulum can move is called “The regulator”.

“A well-regulated militia” – Soldiers who know what end of the gun the bullet comes out of, and are accurate riflemen.

“Being necessary for a free state” – A soldier that can’t shoot straight is worthless…

    • California lawyer Mark N. a few days back listed a few that may be submitted.

They will be smart and not take the first one and choose one that can have the greatest impact for gun rights…

  5. I’ll believe it when I see, but I have no positive expectations. It’s one thing to scribble a few like-minded words in an obscure appellate court decision or even a dissent. That only affects your circuit, at most, and the final decision will be made by the Supreme Court if it’s sufficiently momentus.

It’s another thing entirely to be the deciding vote in a nationally spotlighted, potentially landmark case. We’ll see if she can even withstand confirmation. It can be a very lonely life with a lifetime appointment in D.C. when you go against the Swamp. Very, very few people can resist capitulation when they’re never invited to parties and constantly subjected to attacks in the press.

Justices become obsessed with the appearance of balance, as judged by the most far left unbalanced commentators around, that they compromise their principles and the law to score a few points. Consider as well that you can be feted as ultra wise if you’re regularly the oh so inscrutable swing vote. That ego stroke is irresistible.

Gorsuch and Kavanaugh have already proven to be flacid failures. This chick will likely be worse; call her the next David Souter. A few votes will go our way, of course, but she’s just slowing of the inevitable decline and fall of the U.S. into authoritarian socialism. Keep your powder dry.
