So, I saw the Facebook page of this group, made a few comments on various postings. I didn’t think much of it after that but went back to check and see if anyone responded. Lo and behold, they apparently DO NOT want any dissenting opinions. Not only did they delete my posts, they have now blocked me from any further commenting….LOL typical.

  1. The same thing happens with their PA branch.

There is no surer sign of someone who deep down knows he’s utterly wrong than he who suppresses dissent. Quite simply, it’s proof that they are not in pursuit of truth, but rather their own baseless agenda. There’s a reason it’s always the leftists that try to suppress everyone who disagrees with them.

    • I don’t know about “leftists” being the only ones. I seem to remember eight years of Bush the Lesser having the “rightists” doing much the same thing.

      • B…b….b….but Bush! Please quit using this tired refrain. It was just as annoying when it was Clinton being constantly referenced as it is now with Bush. Let’s concentrate on improving the present and not so much about the transgressions of the past.

  2. Tim, I don’t know why you’d want to post any comments on the CSGV website. There is absolutely no chance fr a dialog with those people. They make a living from trying to destroy 2A. What did you expect to accomplish?

    • It was their Facebook page – not their website. As to why, just couldn’t help myself after seeing some of their inane comments. Wasn’t expecting much and wasn’t too surprised with the outcome.

  3. Here are my comments, lasted about 15 mins before it was deleted and I was banned. All the anti-gun groups censor. No comments on facebook and all youtube videos have ratings and comments disabled.

  4. Not gonna waste my time going to their stupid Facebutt page. Wouldn’t surprise me if they put it up just so they could have the pleasure of banning anyone who dares to point out the truth to them.

    • I’m not trying to be a contrarian here, but it is a Facebook page, a group of people who are trying to find like-minded people. They are not interested in having an open forum. If I was running a Facebook page on Rugby, I would not want to have anyone debate with me about the relative value of American football.

We have, thanks to RF, a place where ideas can be shared and debated; minds can be changed here because we play well together. That is not what those groups want. And it is not a liberal/conservative thing: if an anti-abortion group created a Facebook page, they would, no doubt, not welcome debate–there are other places for that.

      • I wasn’t upset nor surprised – but I felt sharing it here was important – it speaks to their true intent.

And American Football is better than Rugby! 🙂

        • If you mean the late, great baseball team, I admire you even more. If you mean the football team that beat my beloved Packers, I am not as thrilled.

I played rugby with a couple of guys who were raised playing Aussie-rules, and I swear they could kick as accurately as we can throw a baseball–all while on a dead run. Aussie-rules is just lacking scrummaging.

      • If you don’t want to entertain opposing views then don’t make the group so that non-members can post in it.

Anyone who doesn’t want to entertain opposing views is fully aware that they have no justification for their views and as such can’t deal with anyone asking them to support their claims.

  5. I looked around the CSGV page for a few minutes. Had to post a rebuking reply to one of the posts, because what he said was just too stupid to let go without a response.

After about 5 minutes, though, I had to leave. There were so many stupid comments and posts, that I felt my own brain starting to turn into mush.

  6. Of course, no furthering the discussion, how dare we even try? what a bunch of babies. Their position is weak and wouldn’t stand up to debate. thats why. Also, I live south of Pittsburgh and I saw a sad story on the news yesterday. A house fire started because of an UNATTENDED candle. Check the link for more info.

Fortunately the family was ok. Now, i’m calling on a galaxy-wide ban on open flames in private homes because candles can be trusted . Candles are evil and must be stopped. Maybe we should also ban forks because, well, its sad to say, but forks just feed our children bad food. That’s why we’re so unhealthy. Come on, people!!! Join the CTSFAFACIH!!! (Coalition To Stop Flames and Forks Around Children Inside Houses)

    • Correction: “because candles can be trusted”
should read “because candles can’t be trusted”
Oops, sometimes sarcasm and grammar clash.
      (insert politically-motivated metaphor here)

  7. I’m encouraged to hear how you guys are all into allowing dissenting opinions. I agree with you.

Those who don’t allow them, may not be motivated by all those sinister things you say like knowing they’re wrong, etc. They might just prefer the echo-chamber. God knows there are plenty of pro-gun sites who are like that.

    • “I’m encouraged to hear how you guys are all into allowing dissenting opinions. I agree with you.”

Really? Your blog censors comments quite often. You are not quite the man of virtue that you make yourself out to be.

        • Either way his name is on the blog, not theirs. If it is them that are doing the censoring, he has the power to stop it. His refusal to do so implies complicity. If MikeB is so against censoring, then why does his blog even moderate comments at all?

        • Because like any good narcissistic gun-grabber, he makes a set of rules for us, and a set of rules for them. Some animals are more equal than others.

    • “I disagree strongly with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.”- François-Marie Arouet (21 November 1694 – 30 May 1778), better known by the pen name Voltaire.

I, too, hate the “echo chamber”. The only worthwhile discussions are those that force you to defend, or sometimes amend, your point of view. Often I learn more from those who don’t agree with me than from those who do.
We call for the Second Amendment to be held with the same high regard as the others in the Bill of Rights, so I do not think we can ever do less than encourage an open discussion where all points of view are freely stated.

  8. I’m curious – maybe we could get a campaign going to report their facebook page as hate speech? I mean it’s true – they blatantly lie about peaceful, law abiding citizens with the intent to harm them.

    • Thats an extremely good idea.

Weather or not FB actually takes actions on reports, it will flag them, and let them know some one snitched on them, and temporarily prevent them from logging in until they’ve looked and seen that their is dissent (Some one reporting a comment, image, or post.)

      • Keep tellin’ yourself that, Ralph.

Take the 80 million gun owners, remove the ones who are more on the gun control side than on your side. Now remove the apathetic ones who couldn’t care less. Take away the worst of the hidden criminals.

What’s left is what you could consider your “group.” And even within it there are varying degrees of fanaticism. Let’s talk about guys like you and the others who comment on this site. Do you really think you’re a majority?
