Gun Review: Magnum Research MR9 Eagle

Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery, right? If that’s so, the Walther P99 should be very flattered, though it’s an oddly popular gun to clone. The Turks cloned it via the Canik, and Smith & Wesson teamed up with Walther to produce the SW99. Another partnership between Walther and an American company is … Read more

Loose Spare Mag Carry: Everyday Carry Pocket Dump of the Day

A Walther and a pair of spare mags make up this pocket dump. Walther manufactures some good, reliable guns – guns capable of solid accuracy. What caught my eye is that the spare mags don’t appear to have holsters or pouches of their own. If you carry spare mags do you just drop them … Read more

Walther’s aiming to fix this with their new-for-2018 PPQ Sub-Compact . . . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q9HgfMb-ia4 It’s everything shooters like from the PPQ, but less filling. Not … Read more

Gun Review: Walther CCP

CCP_Lead

I love the Heckler & Koch P7, as it offers so many engineering features to geek out over. Some of those features appeared on a handgun for the first time with the P7, only to become ubiquitous thereafter (3-dot sights, for example*). A few of those great features have never been reproduced on another pistol. One of them is the gas-piston delayed blowback system, which hasn’t seen use again until the Walther CCP here** and its resurrection is a big reason why I was so excited to get my hands on this new Walther Concealed Carry Pistol. Does it deliver on Walther’s promises of soft recoil and easy slide manipulation? . . .
