Eric “Nuke ’em” Swalwell, currently polling at 0% in Iowa, offered his latest gun control proposals today in a desperate bid for media attention. As if gun control is something a big part of Americans see as the most pressing issues facing America. (Spoiler:  it’s not even on the radar – at all.)

He went to the National Rifle Association’s headquarters in Fairfax, Virginia to preen for cameras yesterday, just in time to make the evening news. If anyone cares. Or still watches the evening news.

Even better, the NRA came out and took some photos of all 18 of his supporters from across the nation coming out to lend their support.  Yes, all 18.

Anyway, here’s the story from the Washington Examiner:

Outside the National Rifle Association headquarters in Fairfax, Va., 2020 candidate Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-Calif., rolled out his complete gun control plan for the nation.

The issue of gun violence has been central to his campaign, and accompanying Swalwell were some family members of victims of gun violence.

In his plan, the California Democrat reiterated that, if elected president, he will ban and buy back “military-style semiautomatic assault weapons,” with the exception of storing them at shooting ranges and hunting clubs. As he has said before, Swalwell’s plan states they will criminally prosecute any person caught defying the buyback, including the possibility of jail time.

He even offered an incredibly imaginative soundbite for the media to use in their reports:

“We’re not just here to stand up to the NRA … we’re here to beat the NRA,” Swalwell said.

So, what sort of gun control will cure the ills that lurk in the 2% of American counties that have 51% of the murders?

  • A 48-hour cooling-off period between the time a person purchases a firearm and the time they take possession of it.

As a resident of Illinois, I love when they make me wait 72 hours to pick up a new gun purchase as a “cooling off period” when I’m already carrying not one, but two loaded guns on my person. Makes perfect sense, right?

  • Implement background checks for all firearm and ammunition purchases.

Because criminals never steal their guns.

  • Require that liability insurance be purchased before a person can buy, trade, or otherwise receive a firearm.

Such an animal doesn’t currently exist. Seems insurance companies don’t like to cover willful torts…and finding a home intruder in your teenage daughter’s bedroom with his pants down and then shooting him six times is certainly no accident.

  • Create a national firearm registry that is linked to individual firearms, and require that all purchases, transfers, and donations of firearms be mandatorily registered.

That worked well for the Jews in 1930s Germany, didn’t it? Or the Russians in Stalin’s early days. Or Cambodians, or Chinese. And in each and every one of those cases, no doubt people said ‘genocide could never happen here.’ Until it did.

  • Prohibit individuals from purchasing more than one handgun per 30-day period.

Gun rationing! Maybe we could limit the Washington Post to one issue per 30-day period.

  • Prohibit the online sale of ammunition.

Because they didn’t have the Internet back in the 1780s.

  • Ban and buy back bump stocks, large-capacity magazines that are capable of holding more than 10 rounds of ammunition, and silencers.

Wait, didn’t we already ban “bump stocks”?

  • Prohibit individuals from hoarding ammunition in quantities exceeding 200 rounds per caliber or gauge.

Two hundred rounds? Attending a Project Appleseed event requires about 400 rounds of ammo. The class for school teachers that GSL Defense Training just put on had students shooting 250 rounds. And don’t get me started on Mas Ayoob’s 1000-round classes. Or other nationally known instructors who burn through even more in a single class.

  • Repealing the Protection for Lawful Commerce in Guns Act.

Perhaps we can sue carmakers for criminal acts committed by people who use their products as well? Or breweries. How about suing Congresscritters who vote for unconstitutional laws?

  • Prohibit states from arming teachers.

Because we wouldn’t want to protect our precious children with armed good guys like we protect Congress with armed security.

Here is the deal: With the exception of repeal of the Protection for Lawful Commerce in Guns Act, I don’t see a single one of Swalwell’s proposals lasting through a Supreme Court challenge.

In fact, by the time of the November 2020 election, President Donald Trump will have likely filled at least one, possibly two additional seats on the US Supreme Court. Including Ruth Bader Ginsberg. And the New York State Rifle and Pistol Association case will (probably) give us a favorable decision.

The kind of gun control that candidate Swalwell envisions will not happen any time soon in this nation. But power-hungry people like him would sell their soul with empty promises in order to curry a few votes (18?) and a few mentions by the compliant, anti-gun media.

    • When ever I take a 22 LR with me to the range I never take less than a brick and usually two with me.

That blows Swallowswell’s ammo plan to ell and gone.

    • Makes sense to people who learned everything they know about guns from Hollywood, where every time someone pulls a trigger one (or more) bad guy drop instantly and never even turn over. Though the hero can get shot, wince a bit, and be fine to do acrobatics 5 minutes later.

    • How about Universal Gun Registration? Intergalactic Gun Registration would already be prohibitively expensive.

    • During the dumocrap campaign, Uncle Joe may take Swallow out behind the barn and beat the shit outta him, instead of Trump.

  1. Fortunately this man will never see the inside of the White House. There might be enough hoplophobic Demoncrats in Iowa to get him to 1% in the polls though.

    • I don’t see any reason why he couldn’t take the White House tour, same as anyone else.

…I don’t see a single one of Swalwell’s proposals lasting through a Supreme Court challenge…. -John Boch

While the prospect of winning a Supreme Court challenge is nice, I’m happier that this yutz has about as much chance of becoming President as I do.

  2. Wow! I’m screwed! Been “hoarding” ammo for over 30 years. Just in .22 lr and mag I’ve got about 16,000 rounds. One or two bricks at a time. 9mm and other pushes that number way up. I am so screwed!
    This little shit can ESAD.

  3. Swalwell is the best thing going for us on the Democratic side. His 100% focus is gun control, and he’s polling at ZERO percent. Nobody could spell it out any clearer. With any luck that will show the rest of the candidates that gun control is a losing issue, even among the fevered democratic base.

    • The Demo Commies do not care if gun control is a loosing issue as it’s a major plank in the religion of the Left,it’s #. 1 and climate change is #. 2 .

  4. You have to wonder what international body / persons are paying off these Dems to push gun control in America. We should find them and remove the threat.

  5. Eric Swalwell is a scumbag but the question is will
Other democratic contenders agree with his stance? That’s the scary part because I see down the road as the left becomes more extreme trying to implement laws like this crazy times I see ahead.

    • It’s simple, these idiots with almost no chance are advocating extreme ideas so that a more moderate anti-gun agenda appears more reasonable.
It’s like serving me a plate full of dog shit or a plate full of beets and beef tripe. I’ve thrown up beets and tripe being made to eat both. So being forced to choose between shit or beets? Uh, I choose the beets.

  6. I’ve moved on from Swalwell. He’s not going to even be a VP selection. Even if someone else takes his only platform issue and runs with it they wouldn’t get it implemented.

  7. In fact, by the time of the November 2020 election, President Donald Trump will have likely filled at least one, possibly two additional seats on the US Supreme Court.

Sadly, I highly doubt this will come to fruition.

U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is like Emporer Palpatine in the Starwars movie franchise: she looks ever more broken/frail but her actual staying power never seems to fade.

The only way a conservative justice will replace Ginsburg is if Donald Trump wins re-election and Ginsburg dies of a freak accident during his next term. If a freak accident does not occur, it would not surprise me if she survives until a Democrat wins the White House in 2024.

  8. “Swalwell’s Latest Gun Control Proposal: Universal Gun Registration, Gun Rationing, 200-Round Ammo Limit”

Oops, passed that in my last loading/reloading session…now what…???

    • “Prohibit individuals from hoarding ammunition in quantities exceeding 200 rounds per caliber or gauge.”

Lol, this would honestly just encourage more firearm purchases. I own a lot of different calibers but I am sure there are more I would purchase if this bullshit became law. It would probably be good for the firearm industry. Lol.

  9. That seems like a low round count for an Appleseed. My daughter and I burned through almost 1600, between the two of us that weekend.

Swallwell desperately needs to disarm the population, because he knows any real attempt to impose his vision would result in the armed insurrection sometimes called Civil War 2. Someone advised him just how badly it would work out for the government, and the gallows that would await the politicians that formed it.

    • Remember this is the very same @ss hat that threatened the use of nukes on Americans if the refused his confiscation scheme and yet he remains a member of congress, potential presidential candidate.

  10. TexTed – Let’s hope they keep pushing gun control, even push harder, if it’s a loosing issue. Because you know if they stop pushing it and win, they’ll do it anyway.

  11. He’d probably bust a gasket when I told him I had 2 fortress belts for an MG3 that were 250 rds each.

  12. Ban. Buyback. Prosecute. Restrict. Impose. Prohibit.

These words are all just Newspeak for “kill anyone who doesn’t comply.” This is what your “leaders” and the violent cowards who work for them plan to do with you. It is ALL that ANY of them plan to do with you.

    • Yep. Ultimately, all laws boil down to the simple fact that men in uniforms will enforce them at gunpoint.

Our so-called liberals are so eager to point government guns at so many people for so many things, both tyrannical and frivolous.

      • Maybe people who know of a criminal should report them to the police as illegal gun owners, from a pay phone….. LOL

  13. California has had universal registration of handguns for 19 years. The data base is hopelessly out of date. When a gun changes hands, the new owner is registered, but the registration for the new owner remains of record because transactions are not cross-referenced by serial number. And we know how well NICS works. Put the two together and all you end up with is an unusable computer system and a few very rich programming contractors.

    • oops.. the registration for the former owner remains of record. Meaning that there may be multiple owners of record of the same gun.

      • And gun grabbers will always believe the system over an individual. I wonder how many will survive the enhanced interrogation about firearms the person sold years or decades ago but the faulty system says still belongs to them?

    • It’s fine, California has doubled its state budget in the last ten years.

Just keep shoveling more money at the problem. It’s not like they’ll run out, right?

  14. This man is absolutely brilliant! He has locked up the votes of his ardent supporters, all 18 of them, at the minor cost of alienating 100 million actual Americans, many of whom are now in favor of hanging him. Go, Eric!

Say, if he’s running for President, can he run for reelection at the same time, or can we count on being rid of the asshat in ’21?

  15. I’m pretty sure 200 rounds per caliber is the legal minimum. Anything less and you don’t have enough to shoot.

  16. I’ve never seen a picture of this guy with his mouth closed. Maybe if he listened, or thought, he would appear to be such a fool.

  17. Does he have any other views besides ‘gun control’? That’s the only thing I’ve ever heard from him. He thinks gun control is the only issue he needs to get elected?

  18. 200 rounds, huh?
If this darkest of horses somehow becomes the anointed one I’m going boating with 10,000 of my friends.
    Deep lakes up here…

  19. Why did he go in front of NRA HQ? That doesn’t make sense! We’re constantly told by the “real” 2A supporters, fresh GOA fanboys and leftist trolls on this website that the NRA has supported every gun control law since the Civil War ended. He should be embracing the NRA not trying to beat them.😅👌🏻

  20. How much ammo do I own?

I haven’t actually counted the rounds, but I would guess about 30 cubic feet.

  21. I see he isn’t still saying he plans on nuking us gun owners so I guess that is a step in the right direction.

    /s

  22. Not a threat, but an observation and prediction. Any elected official attempting such would not stay President long. He would be removed from office by force. Again, not a threat, just an observation.

  23. My 15 year old daughter shoots competition trap, skeet, sporting clays and pistol and rifle she goes though 15 to 20 thousand 12ga a season and a shit load of 22lr and 9mm. 200 rounds is a joke that’s just a warmup for her. I have thousands of rounds and buy/reload every spare moment. Theidiot has no clue. After my daughter gave him a taking he be calling for his mommy.

  24. I suspect there’s a provision in the Bill for Competition Shooting either for the Shooter or the Sponsor for the Competition Shooting Club…

    • House of Representatives have 2 year terms. Senators are elected for 6 year terms. Swallwell’s district 15 seat will be up for election in 2020.

  25. Dear Rep. Eric Swalowell,
I really, really like your plan to limit ammunition ownership to 250 rounds per person. To this end, I am volunteering to give up my nasty, excess ammunition. Please arrange to have you and your staff (and /or your “fruitcake” followers) come by and I will gladly give you ALL of my excess ammunition (not to worry as I have plenty for all of you). Have a lovely day in the land of Unicorns and lollipops!!!
P.S.- Please bring your friends AOC (really, only 8 years old) and Bernie Sanders (“Honeymoon in Moscow” was a Hallmark movie wasn’t it?)! I have special ammo with a star (and hammer and sickle) just for them… I mean, since they like socialist countries so much!!!
P.P.S. (yes, just like a Walther)- As read on a recent post: “Let me see if I have this right. We have all the guns and ammunition and they don’t know which bathroom to go to”! Pretty much sums it up, I think.

  26. Eric Smallballs is a symptom of a disease that began about 50 years ago. While the US was outspending the Communists of the Soviet Union, US Communists were infiltrating Americas Schools, Universities, Colleges, Television, and the Arts. The Communists in city state and federal government today are the result. Obama was the first Communist to reach the Presidency. Obamas rise to power by the votes of a mix of youthful and old Communist was the dog whistle that signaled todays Communist that they have a chance to follow in his footsteps and become US President. Aside from shotgun Joe and Bernie, todays Communists running for president are also youthful, queer, female, and black. They are elected to Congress, are Mayors and Governors. All are products of teachings by Communist teachers, parents and friends. Communism today is not a dirty word, or will put the FBI on their trail. After all, most of the products and technology Americans use today come from Communist countries of China and Vietnam. Communism must be ok. Americas youth thinks so. Well its not OK to me and many old soldiers who fought Communism in the jungles, mountains, vallys, and streets, and as operatives of 3 letter agencies of the US government. Unless the Communist scrouge in America is stopped, and stopped dead, there will be more Smallballs and others like him with the goals of disarming the people, one way or another.

    • Jaque,
Well said. As I used to say to an associate of mine, “Everywhere in the world, we are fighting against and even killing Communists and here they are electing them to office. I don’t get it”!
