ALPS OutdoorZ Sierra Hooded Full Zip Jacket

The weather is turning cooler, which means keeping your groups tight at the range, will require you to be comfortable and not shaking from the chill in the air. For that ALPS OutdoorZ offers the Sierra Hooded Full Zip Jacket, designed for versatility in various weather conditions. The jacket’s versatile design allows you to look as good ducking into the winery or hanging out at a tailgate as you do at the range.

The jacket features a durable polyester and spandex outer shell combined with a soft microfleece lining for warmth. Its design makes it effective as an outer layer in cool weather or as a mid-layer during colder conditions. The DWR-treated outer fabric provides water resistance, making it suitable for light rain and wind.

Practical features include adjustable bungee-style drawstrings for the hood and YKK VISLON zippers for the front and pocket closures, helping keep out the elements, while keeping small items secure. The jacket also has a drop-back hem and an adjustable closure system to manage heat retention and airflow.

The Sierra Hooded Full Zip Jacket comes in sizes ranging from Small to 3XL and is available in coyote brown, olive green and slate blue. It retails for $100. IFor more details, visit ALPS OutdoorZ.

  1. I have a merino wool hoodie that I wear when it gets nippy. And it wasn’t that much more expensive.

Not a big fan of polyester.

    • Polyester has major advantages in adverse weather re quickness of drying and heat retention while wet even over wool. It does however have a major disadvantage depending on what you shoot re hot brass and melting temperatures. The old military poly cotton mix is about as much as I will go with for range use.

  2. I am planning a trip to Tibet to learn from those monks how to generate so much body heat that I can dry a wet sheet in sub-zero temperatures. That way, I will be comfortable in my t-shirt while everyone else at the range is bundled so heavily they look like 5-year olds in snow suits.

I hope a week with the monks will be enough.

    • I think you are supposed to breathe in with your left nostril and out through your mouth – or is it in with your right, and out with your mouth?

One heats you up, the other cools you off, supposedly. Never can remember which is which, so I am scared to try it.

Yeah, a week oughta do it, LOL.

  3. All I need to stay comfortable at the range is my range bag.
Some may call this a wife but I call her my range bag.
And now I have a headache.

  4. TTAG is going to follow in the footsteps of Dick’s Sporting Goods and just focus on sports clothing.

That’s where the money is these days.
