Just because they have a huge hit on their hands in the Hellcat doesn’t mean there isn’t room in Springfield Armory’s lineup for other everyday carry options. The new XD-M Elite 3.8″ Compact has all the features of Springfield’s other Elite series handguns including their META (Match Enhanced Trigger Assembly) trigger, flared magwell, a match barrel and deeper slide serrations.

Yeah and that’s a bad sign for their company. SA guns won’t hold value like others but damn if your life is on the line Polymer80 and Taurus get picked first. Ouch. They deserve it though. I guess people aren’t buying that a millionaire bought a lobbyist who then worked against his wishes by protecting him and screwing over others.
I’ve heard this mentioned here in the posts before, but never explained. Could someone please elaborate a little ? I don’t want to support anyone who is screwing those of us who are fighting to protect our 2nd amendment rights.
The super short version is, SA got on board with a gun control bill proposed by the Illinois legislature in exchange for getting a “carve out” that exempted them.

I paid around $550 and spare mags were $50 each. It stung a bit but I actually carry it, unlike some of my previous purchases. So I think it was money well spent.
Yeah might as well spend the next two years drunk then. Even in a slim scenario where the GOP retakes all three branches it’s going to take a very significant amount of time before prices and availability are what they are pre panic. The last great panic in 12’-13’ it took over a year, and .22 didn’t really come back pre panic pricing ever again. It probably would’ve by now had this panic not hit.

Mine is a 3.8 compact with a *13*- rd mag and a 19, like it real well and don’t much care whether you do or not, you sound rather like a pissant I knew once. I wonder if I could tell the difference in triggers, between mine and this “elite”. The other differences I don’t much care about. Damn nice gun!
The META trigger on the elite isnt that much better than the stock xdm trigger. Reset definitely better.
If you ever get a chance, fondle a walther ppq. It has the best production trigger on a striker fired pistol I’m aware of.
I own a full size XDM 9 and a full size XDM 45. Bought them before the Illinois treachery. Plus, I just picked up one of these… I also own a Norinco SKS (commies)and a few Smiths (circa London hedge fund), shop at Walmart, and work for a soulless corporation (a Class1 Railroad). If you shopped on ideals for everything, you’d have few options. As a descendant of Hebrews, I’ve driven Volkswagens and Fords (Henry was a rabid anti-Semite. He bought a newspaper to spew his prejudice. Volkswagen…well, no explanation needed) Water under under the bridge. History.
SA got smacked for trying to exercise self preservation. It was a low point, for sure. Maybe, they’ve learned their lesson.

These Croatian pistols are, for me, superior in every way to the Austrian offerings. Personally, I like the ergonomics, trigger, grip safety, and reset to my Glock 19. I haven’t shot this one yet, but I’m sure it won’t disappoint.

I have an XD9 locked in a pelican case along with ammo, holster, mags and mag pouches hidden/burried for when SHTF. It feels better in the hand than a stock glock and just as reliable.
Yeah. I own a XD45c and XDm45c purchased before they sold us out. They’re VERY reliable firearms.
Will I purchase anything new from them after they sold us out? Not until they’ve made serious amends.

Springfield Armory is kind of like S&W was back in the 70s and 80s with their pistols. Change one or two interior and exterior features and roll it out as somehow the latest thing since last week’s product release.
They (SA) continue to make amends in Illinois when it comes to that deal their agent cut with gun grabbers that eventually gave us today’s Gun Dealer Licensing Act. They’ve changed how they do things and I’m confident that we won’t see a repeat. Of course, I watch them carefully. Trust but verify sort of thing. By the way, Gun Dealer Licensing has driven well over half of dealers out of business.
Of course, TTAG, John Boch and Guns Save Life still haven’t gotten any Christmas cards from Springfield. Now, other groups who looked the other way to Springfield’s deal-making, that’s another story for another day.
What kind of amends are they making?
I haven’t seen much. I want them to own it, admit it publicly, and make some token attempt at soothing the gun-public.

Solution to loser IL laws is not blame SA, get the hell out of the state. Or change the laws, and/or the lawmakers. IL laws have not affected me at all.
Hold on there cowboy. Illinois gun owners are so out numbered they can’t change squat. Springfield stuck it in deep and broke it off in Illinois Gun dealers and all gun owners statewide. I couldn’t stoop low enough to buy anything from sa or rock river arms. There are much better quality manufacturers out there that deserve my business.

Two things pop out.
1. Slide not milled for optics? Thought that was a prerequisite for tacticool ultimate edition skus.
2. How much has Springfield donated to #gunvote?
For those of you with short memories, Springfield Armory spent a handsome some of money a few years ago working with Illinois gun-grabber politicians to pass a heinous and unconstitutional gun-control law in Illinois. That is bordering on unforgivable.
Having said that, I would seriously consider forgiving Springfield Armory if:
1) The responsible Springfield Armory policy maker resigns (if he/she hasn’t already),
2) Springfield Armory publicly declares their egregious error, and
3) Springfield Armory sends twice as much money to advance our rights.
Short of that, I can view Springfield Armory in no other light than traitors to our rights, and therefore unworthy of our patronage.
Ok Springfield haters, tell me what company besides Beretta that hasn’t at one time or another sucked up to anti-gun politicians and police chiefs. But I suppose you are all good with Glock giving a little cash and ‘hos to anti-gun types, well, because Glock.
I used to have the original XD/m Compact. It is the perfect combination of size, ballistic efficiency and capacity. Put it next to a G19 and the G19 looks enormous. If they came out with this a coue of years ago I probably would have got this instead of the APX compact.
Interesting that beretta is the only one who hasn’t… Maybe they deserve more love?
That wasn’t the only factor that made me chose the APX over the P320 but it was an important one.

While I love my Beretta 92 and Ruger Sp101. I recently purchased the SA XD for $299. Yes it is ugly but it has been 100% reliable

If you are an Illinois resident and purchase one, does Springfield Armory provide a gasoline voucher to compensate you for the extra distance that you had to drive to one of the remaining gun dealers which survived the legislation they helped to fund/pass?

I’ve been carrying a G43 for years, but am really itching to move to a larger gun. With the full-size magazine well, this SA seems something to consider, but so does the less expensive Ruger Security 9.
Plenty of time to think about it; not going to buy anything at current prices. In the meantime, I will sometimes carry my G17 OWB in a Triple-K red leather holster covered by a long shirt. Can’t abide IWB.
My edc (when not wearing) gym shorts is an XDm compact. While I like some of the enhancements, I don’t like what they did with the mag well. One of the nice features of the old model was that the short mag has a little ledge that meshes well with the small grip; giving me a nice grip. However, you can carry the extended mag as a backup because because it also meshes well with the grip. The new model requires that you remove the mag well to use the extended mag. If you run without the mag well all the time then the grip with the short mag isn’t as nice.

Having/had various SA pistols and M1A since it was all still made here. Still buying ones I like when it’s a good deal for me. If I didn’t already have an XDm (it’s one of those package deals they had last year, large case,, 5 mags and the other stuff) I’d be looking at the full size of this model. I really don’t give a rats …. what anyone else thinks. They’re entitled to their opinion as am I and the rest of the free (for now) gun owners in the still free states. Did some big wigs at SA screw up? Yep most likely, as did a few other companies over the decades (not just gun companies). Everyone is free to decide for themselves.
I’m confused as to where you grip it.
Various gun companies have embraced gun control initiatives, Ruger for a period of time wouldn’t sell large mags and s&w is still putting stupid locks in 90 percent of their revolvers. Springfield deserved the backlash at the time but we’d have very few gun companies to choose from if we canceled them like a bunch of liberals for their worst misdeeds.
If the traitors go out of business that will just give an opportunity for more pro 2A companies to rise up.
I doubt it. The market is large but the profit is not. Various gun manufacturers are constantly in and out of bankruptcy. Hating on Springfield is warranted but we are shooting ourselves in the foot. Besides, I believe these guns are Chechz, great freedom loving country all things considered

I had an XD/m Compact in 9mm several years ago. The 13-round mag was too short for my pinky to grab onto it. The 19-round mag with sleeve was so loose in the mag well that my grip on it was not as secure as I wanted. I would’ve been better off getting the full-sized version. Ended up gifting the gun to somebody else anyway.
Springfield was simply trying to get the best deal available for gun dealers and manufacturers from an anti-gun, anti freedom legislators. It did not pass. What did pass later without their support was much worse.
Problem is trying to make a deal with the devil, no matter how good Springfield’s intentions. The anti -gun stink rubbed off on them.
My take is to forgive and forget a well intentioned but misguided deed.

Golly all this SA bashin I have been out of the loop. Bought XDM as soon as it came out and have a number of mags thru it in practice. Put a Crimson trace grip on it and it feels better in my hand now. Other then that it’s stock. Winter and today’s environment demands my exchange the 642 EDC for this w/both mags under the coat. Just looking at maybe upgrading the trigger but should I feel guilty because the company has screwed up politically? I don’t think so.
Which triggers should I consider??

For the ones on here that purchased SA with the knowledge of what they did I ask why? With so many reputable firearm manufacturers out there its not like you can’t find a suitable product to meet your needs. We as Americans have the opportunity to not only vote for our law makers but vote with our wallets, the current trend is to “virtue signal” in the hopes of garnering more support and money. When we hurt these companies monetarily it shows others to back off and stop this lunacy. I personally feel avoiding these companies as much as possible is just as American as Apple pie. Do I bash or curse those that do? No, but knowledge is power if they make that decision after the fact what ate we to do?
