Super Soaker, Nerf, Daisy… 10 most popular gun brands in California – “Gun sales are soaring in California, and Sacramento County saw the largest increase in sales in the state, according to a new report from the California Department of Justice. However, people are not just buying any gun. The report shows people in Sacramento County preferred to buy handguns over long guns, while the trend across the state was the reverse between 2001 and 2015. ‘We get people in every day that are concerned about their safety and their well-being,’ Just Guns owner Josh Deaser said. The top 10 firearm brand manufacturers people bought in California between 2001 and 2015 are:”

Thank goodness another dangerous weapon has been taken of the streets: Yesterday, officers from the headquarters of the Kazimierza Wielka County (Poland) Police detained a 35 year old man, resident of the county, who was in possession of a firearm without the required permit. – “Police were informed that a resident of one of the region’s towns [some 30 miles northeast of Krakow] may be in possession of a firearm without the requisite permit. Yesterday, uniformed officers, in the course of conducting a search of the residence, discovered a revolver [see photo] most likely originating from the era of the Second World War.” Original article here. Of course they are: NYT: More Gun Control, Less Crime – “The New York Times  is encouraging voters in states with gun control on the ballot to vote for stronger regulations under the guise that more gun control equals less crime. Meanwhile, gun-controlled Chicago is nearing 600 homicides for 2016 alone.”

Here’s a surprise…Bloomberg-funded Johns Hopkins thinks guns are bad: Guns in America: Facts, figures, and an up-close look at the gun reform debate – “In the opening days of 2016, President Barack Obama attempted to steer the national conversation to guns. The violence witnessed in the United States the previous year demanded action. By some assessments, 2015 was the year of the mass shooting. During a prayer service at a Charleston, South Carolina, church, a lone gunman killed nine people, including the senior pastor. On a community college campus in Roseburg, Oregon, a student fatally shot nine people and wounded seven. In San Bernardino, California, a married couple opened fire on a holiday party, leaving 14 people dead and 22 wounded.”

Colt and Smith & Wesson weren’t the only GunCos who took a crack at designing a smart gun in the 1990s.

Florida Republican who blocked campus carry bill rakes in Bloomberg bucks: Everytown for Gun Safety Launches Ad Campaign in Support of State Senator Miguel Diaz de la Portilla – “Florida Everytown for Gun Safety Victory Fund today announced an $85,000 ad campaign to fund online digital ads, digital bus shelter ads and a digital billboard in support of Republican State Senator Miguel Diaz de la Portilla. The Victory Fund is a Florida political committee affiliated with Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund and the Florida chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, a part of Everytown for Gun Safety. Senator Diaz de la Portilla has worked to promote public safety for the past two years. Using his position as Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, he declined to hear a bill that would have allowed guns on Florida’s many college campuses and another that would have allowed people to openly carry handguns in public.”

When seconds count… Houston 911 Operator Charged Over Hanging Up on Callers – “A former Houston 911 operator is facing criminal charges for hanging up on callers because ‘she did not want to talk to anyone,’ according to Houston Police investigators. Crenshanda Williams, 43, faces two misdemeanor charges of Interference with Emergency Telephone Call stemming from incidents in March. According to charge documents filed with the Harris County Court, Williams worked for the Houston Emergency Center where managers determined that she was involved in thousands of “short calls” — emergency calls that last less than 20 seconds — between Oct. 2015 and March 2016. In one case, Williams allegedly hung up on a man who called to report a robbery in progress March 12.”

Chicago isn’t the only big city police force hamstringing reining in its officers: LAPD Officers Ordered To Shoot Only After Non Lethal Options Exhausted – “Los Angeles Police officers must now exhaust all forms of non-lethal means before shooting a suspect. The L.A. Police Commission approved a wide array of law enforcement reforms Tuesday including training for officers to help in de-escalation and verbal skills when faced with a violent perpetrator.”

  1. What do they mean “exhaust all forms of non-lethal means?” As in, they have to talk with a suspect, and wrestle with him, AND strike him with a baton, AND tase him, AND pepper spray him first AS they’re being shot at?

    • I’ve been expecting this to start as a trend for along time. Soon, it will not be uncommon that protocol will dictate officers engage with less lethal being their primary weapon, no matter the opposition. Imagine if you will, seeing the police in a gun fight while they are restricted to only using bean bag guns and tasers, until notified on the radio that they may use their pistol, only after asking permission. Any use of the pistol beforehand will result in instant termination, lawsuits, and investigation. The good news? Good luck to those officers trying to confiscate guns during Hitlerys short reign of terror.

      • Well, given that directive, when notified of a domestic, I would exhaust about 8 hours of nonlethal phone calling without ever getting within a mile of the reported disturbance, just as an example. If you are not allowed to do anything after you get there, except be a target, why go at all?

“Hello” “Hey, y’all be nice over there!” “Don’t make me come over there, now!” “Sorry Sarge, my shift is almost over.”

      • Says the millennial police officer, “iPhone, I have encountered a murder/death/kill suspect who is shooting at me. How shall I proceed?”

Thus sayeth Siri, “Are you seriously that stupid? Shoot back!!”

    • That’s the idea… because you can’t know if you’re using ‘necessary’ force unless you first fail at every lesser force first. Which is why the Supreme Court specifically came up with the standard of ‘objectively reasonable’ instead. That legal precedent is not unmade by these ignorant commissions but it will lead to more strife when an officer breaks policy but is still legally justified. Just like when everyone on the news was calling Eric Garner’s death as being due to an “illegal” chokehold.

  2. The most popular brands in California are…all the big names. Kind of a “Doh” moment.
    10) Savage
    9) Beretta
    8) Colt
    7) Mossberg
    6) Remington
    5) Sig Sauer
    4) Springfield Armory
    3) Ruger
    2) Glock
    1) Smith and Wesson

    • Remember, no new semi autos (or even updates of existing models) for Ca. So,naturally, the big revolver makers and the companies big enough to keep the legacy semi models in production are what we buy because that’s all there is. California alone must buy enough Glocks for them to keep cranking out Gen 3s.

    • The way this crap is going, soon it will only be the top ten models. Micro-stamping is the reason we can’t get any new models released in Calif. The “not unsafe” roster gets smaller by the day.

      • Down to 770 handguns. One Colt pistol, one Ruger pistol. Lots of Springfields and S&Ws (though with new models coming on line, that will shrink appreciably).

      • What happens after Jan 2017? All the listed guns expire on that date. Will this effectively ban ALL new handgun sales in ca? I would assume the worst – that they aren’t approving any more extensions or new guns because none are “smart guns”. Or am I wrong and is the list going to be updated at a later time? Also, I thought revolvers were exempt from this list but I see lots of them listed which leads me to believe that they must be on it in order for them to be sold in ca. Any info?

        • The certification isn’t permanent. If the pistol has not been changed in any way they can renew. Revolvers are exempt from the microstamping requirement in a shocking display of applied logic.

  3. Turned in my early ballot for Donald Trump and NO on California Proposition 63 today!
First time voting in the general election.

  4. Been reading the Podesta emails on Wikileaks. It’s amazing the disconnect Progressives have between intent and actuality… it really is as if the ends justify the means. I don’t know how these people sleep at night, it’s as if it’s all a big game.

    • They get away with it because enough of the American population doesn’t give a crap. As long as they got their job and TV all is well.

    • That has always been the rationalization of the true believer and their followers. Mao, Stalin, Phil pot, Clinton. The end justifies the means for their grand and glorious leader.

  5. 9/11 operators and TSA personnel seem to have a lot in common with KFC and Burger King employees.

I guess if I had to deal with public retardation day in and day out I’d be lazy, rude and belligerent too.

    • I dunno. The KFC/BK employees I’ve interfaced with have for the overwhelming most part been generally friendly and helpful.

OTOH, I have heard some insanely horrible stories about 911 operators. As far as I can tell, 911 call centers are the lowest form of wannabee that gets hired. But they still have the ‘tude. Makes for some “interesting” conversations I’m sure.

      • When it comes to chain restaurants like BK, KFC et al, the good one are the franchise owned ones and the worst are corporate owned…

  6. State Senator Miguel Diaz de la Portilla is for sale, cheap.

In fact, he’s one of the best politicians that money can buy.
