They say the venue is inappropriate for a gun show. ‘They glamorize the gun culture and help put more guns and more ammunition into the society. We don’t believe the public facilities of the fairgrounds should be used for a purpose that is harmful to the public health and welfare,’ said Wayne Dernetz, of a group called Advocates for Gun Safety.” The long march through California continues.
‘Lie And Try’ To Buy A Gun In Washington? Little Risk Of Arrest, Prosecution – “What happens when someone who’s not supposed to have a gun lies about their background and tries to buy one? In Washington state, the answer is not much. FBI records show that between January and August of this year, 3,259 would-be gun buyers in Washington failed a federal background check. But police and prosecutors rarely, if ever, pursue these people. Denials happen about 90,000 times a year nationally. Lying on the federal background check form is a felony. But a recent Inspector General report found that in 2014, federal prosecutors pursued fewer than 50 of these cases — a 10-year low.”
Newtown families seek to reinstate lawsuit against gun maker – “The families of some of the victims killed in the 2012 Newtown school shooting have asked a court to reinstate their wrongful-death lawsuit against the maker of the rifle used in the massacre. Lawyers for a survivor and relatives of nine killed in the shooting filed the appeal Tuesday, asking the Connecticut Supreme Court to immediately take the case from a lower appellate court. In October, a Superior Court judge dismissed the lawsuit against Remington Arms, citing an embattled federal law that shields gun manufacturers from most lawsuits over criminal use of their products.” This is only likely to result in these families being saddled with Remington’s legal fees.
Good move . . . Man who shot deputy’s assailant gets a replacement gun – “Shoot Straight, a Fort Myers gun dealer and firing range, gave the unidentified bystander who shot and killed a man assaulting a deputy on I-75 Monday a replacement handgun Tuesday. ‘We reached out to the Lee County Sheriff,’ said Mark Williams, who has managed the Fort Myers Shoot Straight location since it opened in 2010 off Colonial Boulevard. ‘He had to impound the gun for evidence. We wanted to donate a gun so this man’s not unarmed.’”
Today’s Chicagoland murder excepted, drive by shootings aren’t the most effective way to perforate a given gang banger. ATF documents from Fresno raid: How a toy became a machine pistol – “The ATF document alleges that Velazquez negotiated the sale to Latimore of a fully automatic handgun that originated in Turkey as a toy that fires blank ammunition . . . According to the document, the weapon was a Zoraki 925 9 mm. The document states that the gun had been modified and would fire live ammunition. Additionally, as manufactured and advertised, the Zoraki 925 pistol functions as a machine gun.”

Players Accused of Firing Airsoft BB Guns at Students – “Two University of Maryland football players who were suspended from the team earlier this month have been charged with shooting three students with airsoft BB guns on campus. Standout running back Lorenzo Harrison and receiver DJ Turner have been charged with second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and threatening bodily harm. According to charging documents, two airsoft BB guns that look like AK-47s were found in Harrison’s backpack, along with six containers of BB pellets.” No pizza for you!
Larry Correia’s bit is actually fairly funny and his books are awesome. He’s a former gun dealer and his sometimes collaborator Mike Kupari is a former EOD technician. Their gun-fu is great and the explosions are awesome!

I’m a huge fan of Larry’s. Read just about everything he’s written. There is an upcoming MHI universe compilation book from several authors, and I’m one of the characters.
I just read the linked article and another linked in it. They are quite long and involved, because they are real. He explains quite thoroughly a bunch of stuff about guns, and I could find no major flaw, nothing but some silly nitpicks. Should be a resource on any site claiming to present the truth about guns! Really excellent.

Between now and the end of December, the Del Mar fairgrounds is holding a single, one-day gun show. In that same time frame, there are numerous horse races with betting, bingo games, and skiing promotions. How many more families and lives have been ruined by gambling than by guns? And skiing? That’s an assault sport, pioneered by bloodthirsty Finnish infantrymen, and picked up by maniacal US soldiers of the 10th Mountain Division – “Sports of War” have no business at our family fairgrounds.
Not to mention the antique sales – who knows what kind of cooties the children could pick up from that moldy old crap.
Just to be safe, probably ought to just bulldoze the whole facility and turn it into condos…..

Yes, we do. If they tool up, tooling up must be OK. They will change their positions to justify what they do.
People don’t think. They do vaguely associate feelings with events, and carefully manage their self-image. The deliberate “thinking” and image management that they are aware of is weak, slow, and spotty compared to the same stuff happening all the time, as impulses, assessments, and feelings.
If they have a gun, it must be OK to have a gun. If they enjoy shooting any one time, shooting becomes less horrible every other time it’s thought of. Every day they carry a gun without going on a shooting spree, teaches them that maybe carrying doesn’t automatically mean shooting up a school. More important than teaching their reason, is training their emotional associations: “I carried a gun, and it was a perfectly normal day. Again.”
This is true. It won’t stop them from wanting government to restrict guns and control people, but with negative emotions no longer running the show, they might be a little more susceptible to reason.

Just remember that a large portion of the gun grabbers already own and carry they just don’t want you to!

The lack of muzzle rise is because the gun in the video is just firing blanks. Handgun blanks in these kind of “replica” blank guns generate very little recoil force.
I imagine once converted to fire real ammo, it’s going to be a bit more of a handful.
Watch the video. It shows clearly that the ammo fired was live ammo, not blanks.

When will we stop repeating the lefts old “X number of prohibited persons have been stopped from buying a gun”? According to John Lott and others, these numbers are initial denials only. By the end of the process, the false denial rate is upwards of 95%. So of those “90,000” only 4500 or so are real denials or the denied person gave up trying to purchase a firearm. Now, the prosecution rate is still very low even when compared with that 5% number since 50 per year represents only 0.056% prosecutions of the 90,000 number and only 5% of the 4500.
I’m A “liberal” Gun owner I have very few liberal friends who shoot. I am constantly defending the 2A (especially ar15’s & standard capacity, mags) in my liberal circles, and LGBT rights in my conservative circles. Yep, Im the A-hole who makes sure Thanksgiving is ruined for everyone!!

When inevitability confronted with the ” you own Guns?!” scold and lecture that follows, have difficulty defending and most times even supporting the right to own a AR/AK exe………Getting bullied into a political decision they don’t agree with and emboldening those who wish to restrict our rights. ie “even your fellow (Liberal) gun owner thinks 30 rnd mags and ar’s kill baby kittens by existing”.
Though I am ex-military and have been around guns my whole life I totally kept my gun-ownership on the DL out of fear of being looked down upon by my Liberal pears, and becoming yet another type of political football to my conservative pears. (us veterans already are for both sides). While I would defend the 2A in words I never let on what I had in the closet, under the bed, in my car, in my bag, exe….It was not until I noticed Bloomberg and friends that i came out of the Gun closet……….

Why the heck are you a liberal, given those circumstances? I am a dyed in the wool (fiscal) conservative, and I have not a bit of problem advocating for LGBT rights so long as you’re not talking about special rights which I do not have. When discussing LGBT rights, my most common statement comes when I’m hearing all manner of BS on the subject from my friends, and I ask them how that concerns them, why is it their business. Normally, we are quickly back to the fact that my guns are prettier than theirs.
And my safe SAFE has a .308 DPMS GII w/suppressor in it.
No one is prosecuted because most gun purchase refusals are false positives and if prosecuted the system weaknesses would be exposed for the world to see.
If the Deputy had shot the attacker, would they have impounded his duty weapon?
What possible value does the defender’s gun have as evidence?
Are they going to charge the defender with a crime?
Are they going to charge the dead guy with a crime?
Even if they were going to charge the dead guy, what possible value does some other guy’s gun that shot the criminal have?
I concur. If you aren’t charging me with a crime then my property is mine. If you want it, go get a warrant.
Any gun fired, be it police or other, is usually retained until the investigation is complete and all matters stemming from it disposed. This is to preserve the evidence and the chain of custody. Should there be a trial, the evidence has to be available in advance of proceedings to the defense for their examination and then presented during trial. The defender is only a defender when the closed official investigation or trial result says so. This one seems pretty cut and dried, but there are events where it is difficult to determine exactly what happened and who did what to whom in which order to instigate the event. As an example, suppose the “good guy” in this particular instance was chasing the “bad guy” in order to kill him for some perceived wrong, but the “bad guy” got entangled with the policeman first. The shooting in that context looks different. The police would do at least some investigation to determine no prior relationship between the shooter and the shootee. Things don’t always turn out to be as they sometimes appear. That’s why there is an investigation protocol to be followed.
Yeah, but the department would replace the deputy’s gun, not leave him unarmed. Should have loaners for guys like this, too.
