Oh look…another Hollywood mogul who doesn’t like guns: ‘How to Get Away with Murder’ Producer Launches Campaign to Defeat NRA – “How to Get Away with Murder executive producer Bill D’Elia just launched Make US Safer, a campaign designed to defeat the NRA by raising money for Congressional candidates who support more restrictions on the Second Amendment. D’Elia also produced Chicago Hope and Boston Legal. He said he began thinking about incorporating themes about “the gun issue” into his projects in the late 1990s, but a phone call received from gun control advocate Jim Brady pushed him to do more.” Isn’t it a little late in the election cycle to get this going?

Dems want to bring some California to the mitten: Michigan: Anti-Gun Lawmakers Introduce Gun and Magazine Ban Legislation – “Yesterday, a package of anti-gun bills were introduced in the Michigan Legislature. House Bill 5996, introduced by state Representative Wittenberg (D-27), would ban the manufacture, possession, purchase, sale and transfer of so-called ‘assault weapons.’ Additionally, this bill would ban the use of detachable magazines capable of containing more than 10 rounds of ammunition. ‘Assault weapons,’ as defined in the legislation, would encompass the most commonly-owned semi-automatic rifles and handguns.'”

Well, gun-free zones don’t work comes immediately to mind: What 130 of the Worst Shootings Say About Guns in America – “Nationwide, several polls suggest that public opinion has shifted markedly in favor of stricter gun laws. And for the first time since Al Gore called for tighter firearm restrictions in his losing 2000 campaign, gun control is a top-level issue in the presidential contest, as well as in two close Senate races and four state ballot initiatives. ‘The national dialogue has changed,’ said Prof. Robert J. Spitzer of the State University of New York at Cortland, who has written five books on gun policy.”

Controversial sign sparks conversation about free speech, gun rights – “The owner of North Fort Myers Guns at 1246 N. Tamiami Trail, declined requests for comment Thursday, saying his sign does all the talking. But the sign makes a suggestion about Obama and Clinton’s stances on gun control. The idea that Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton wishes to repeal the Second Amendment is one that has been repeated by her rival for the presidency, Donald Trump, on the campaign trail. But his comments get Clinton’s gun policies wrong, as many fact-checking sites have noted. In Wednesday’s final presidential debate, Clinton explicitly cited the historical importance of gun rights.” Of course she did.

  1. The fat cats in Hollywood hate firearms unless they’re profiting from a movie featuring them. Hypocrites to the core.

  2. As usual, the 130 shootings article conflated all sorts of minimally related situations into a narrative with a lot of political theater and precious little logic. He fails to connect the obvious dots on his own narrative. We have a mental illness problem in this country. I don’t expect Hillary to have any useful ideas except to throw money at the problem and penalize everyone who is not mentally ill.

    • HRC will not throw money at the mental illness issue. It’s not a big enough concern and it won’t win her any votes. Even if she SAID she was going to do something about it in her campaign, once in office she’d forget about any promise she made.

Once in office HRC will do what’s good for HRC and the Democommunist Party.

      • She won’t push anything that will raise the deficit. A number of analyses indicate that from her policy proposals she’s serious about not increasing the debt (funny, not having a national debt used to be a conservative value). But that’s not enough; any patriotic president will do what’s needed to ram through Congress a return to patriotism in taxes, i.e. a tax level to pay down the debt, even if that means going back to the rates under Eisenhower. That isn’t going to allow any of the effort we ought to make to help he mentally ill — or to go after criminals who use guns, either, something I doubt she’ll be sad about because criminals with guns are the friends of her agenda.

    • Sixty years ago, dangerous psychotics were lobotomized as soon as their condition was discovered. Liberal progressives decided that was bad and essentially banned the practice and use meds instead — meds never work for very long because the coconuts decide they are “Cured” and quit taking them.

      • Lobotomies didn’t work either unless you think turning a person into a vegetable qualifies as successful treatment. The only solution that works is close supervision so that they stay on their meds. Most of the time, that means confinement to a mental hospital. Unfortunately, we closed most of them a long time ago. The substitute is prison where one quarter to one third of the inmates suffer from a mental illness that leaves them unable to control their behavior within legal limits.

  3. How to get away with murder is ONE of the most vile, violent , murder and GUN filled show on the BoobTube(and graphic gay &straight sex). This doofus transcends hypocrisy. Oh well “acting” I presume. ..?

  4. Bill D’Elia’s promise is worthless, just like Harvey Weinstein’s pledge to make the great American “gun control movie with Metal Streep that wI’ll take down the NRA.”

Yeah Harvey was real successful with that.

  5. Every fucking movie they do glorifies killing, smoking, drinking, drugs and other deviant behavior. They can burn in hell, but first they need to understand the NRA is not the cause of society’s problems. It’s the people they consort with who have that distinction.

  6. I’m no PETA jerk, but unless that cat’s already deaf, why on earth would you take it to the range and ruin its hearing?

  7. Donald Trump, the Republican nominee for president, has often claimed on the campaign trail that Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton wants to repeal the Second Amendment. But as other fact-checking websites have highlighted, his remarks misrepresent Clinton’s gun policies. Clinton specifically mentioned the historical significance of gun rights during the last presidential debate on Wednesday.
