There are reports of as many as six people shot in an incident tonight in the Columbia Heights neighborhood in Northwest Washington, DC, an upscale area of the capitol.

The Columbia Heights neighborhood is just north of the White House and media are reporting a huge police response.

  1. Dumocrats must be thinking if something happens this close to home the Senate and President will have to agree with them. Didn’t they already try this when they had the softball game shot up?

      • Great way to marginalize yourself by putting on the tin foil.

DC has had a stabbing, beating, shooting crime problem for a very long time. You don’t need a false flag to have examples of violence occur in DC, since at any given time there are plenty, an extremely high per capita proportion of released felons on the streets in DC.

In the last five years through both a) reduced prosecution/plea deals and b) intentional early release of convicts DC has reduced its incarceration rate by 42%. DC brags that it has done that. Places in the US that increased incarceration for violent crime have 1/3 the homicide and gun crime rates they had in the early 1990’s. DC saw a huge reduction as well. But a number of places like DC, Baltimore and a few others that fully followed Obama/Holder guidelines on greatly reducing incarceration rates saw large upticks the last five years which actually has sent the US overall homicide rate up, even though 90% of the country remains way down.

        • regardless of their claims; recidivism is the issue now, less arrests, however, more convicts going right back in.

        • I tend to believe the true morons are the ones who believe whatever the communist government tells them….
You really should open your eyes and shut your mouth more often…js

        • “George Washington” claiming this is a false flag just marks you as a moron.

It is a criminal on criminal shooting like 93% of DC shootings. The Washington post is now reporting that four of the victims have illegal gun crimes and all but one have extensive criminal records and are members of a specific GANG.

        • regardless of their claims; recidivism is the issue now, less arrests, however, more convicts going right back in.

That is exactly right, and not just less arrests but a huge number taken not just on step down, but two or three steps down in plea bargains. Assault attempt to kill down to ADW , ADW down to unlawful discharge and unlawful carry down to simple unregistered possession.

Right now DC has about close to 50% more prior felons on the street than five years ago and the murder, stabbing and shooting rate has been going up and up

    • Once upon a time, certainly, including a handgun ban like Chicago. But then along came Dick Heller and a right to keep a loaded firearm in the home. Not too many years later was Wrenn v. D.C. and shall issue CCWs. Now all they need for liberation is an actual gun store and a removal of the registration requirement.

      • There is a DC ffl. So They don’t need a gun store. You are closer to a whole bunch of good sized gun stores(and ranges) in DC than most places in the US are. They are just across the river in Virginia.
Also almost everyone in dc gets theirs online since they got to go through the DC FFL.

        • As I understand it, that ffl is part time, and therefore difficult to get in to see (he is elderly), and that he charges $100 for a transfer. He doesn’t sell guns, only processes the (unnecessarily complex) transfer process. that requires registration and a test firing by the police before taking possession.

        • No mark. No test firing. Easier and faster to get a handgun in DC than almost the entire rest of northeast US. The FFL will almost always make your appointment on day ten after you order a gun from online (this is faster than most states with waiting periods since for dc 10 the day clock starts on first paperwork, for example the day you order your gun from buds or gunsamerica etc, not when the ship itnirnffl receives it).
And for long gun you don’t go through dc ffl, the ffl in Virginia where you bought it is fine.

Not defending DC laws in the least but it is way easier and faster and allows more handgun types than Cali, Mass, Md, NJ.

And DC is shall issue as well.

    • DC has less gun control than the larger majority of jurisdictions in its region, for example Maryland, New Jersey, NY, Mass or Connecticut. Less also than California. That is 1/3 of the country under worse gun control than DC. It is certainly way easier to get a carry license in DC than any of those.
Heller I (2008), Heller III (2015) and Wrenn/Grace (2017 carry) gutted DC gun control.

Can I suggest you join the NRA or some other groups that actually gives people sober talking points, so you don’t make yourself a laughing stock and effectively work for the other side? It is actually harmful when people in our side blurt our drive-by statements that are not true.

      • Honestly it is amazing how much more is legal there now compare to 20 years ago. I can only hope the various state/city challenges going on now do anywhere close to what happened in DC to NYC and elsewhere.

      • In a place where just having a stray empty shot shell in your bag makes you a serious criminal, the chacterization of having “less gun control than….” instantly becomes both laughable and moot.

        • I don’t deny that the Witaschek case was a travesty.
He also had the guy had a box of fully live 40 cal as well on that first warrant which was a bad warrant. The persecuted him.
But DC is not the only place in the US where you have to have some kind of registered firearm to posses ammo. Nor is it the only place in the US were even a single part of unassembled ammo is illegal. (In Massachusetts expended semi fire brass IS constructive/attempted possession of ammunition and has been successfully prosecuted.)

I’m not defending that DC or Mass law and certainly not defending the unfair and atrocious persecution of Witaschek. But in the context of the NE region and also where DC gun laws were three, five and 15 years ago.

      • “DC has less gun control than the larger majority of jurisdictions in its region,”
And compared to the Sears Tower, the Empire State Building is short.
If DC is your example of not much gun control, you’re part of the problem.

        • No, you are part of the problem for not being a sober reader and seeing I put this in historic and regional context — which matter.

I don’t defend DC laws in fact I was in the second tier group of volunteer plaintiffs for Heller III and I am fairly certain I have worked to push back gun control more than you ever have.

Explaining the laws in DC does not equate to defending them.

        • More then likely this was done by a liberal and/or paid for by a liberal to push for “Gun Control” that they trying to ram thru congress.

    • I was a trauma surgeon in DC long before its draconian (and, no, Vlad Tepes, I am not talking about you) firearms restrictions became what they became. Back then it was mostly blunt and edged weapons. Suddenly with the rise of drugs and the Clinton firearms bans we started to see an exponential rise in gunshot wounds in the non military injuries. With the “AWB,” I saw my most severe civilian firearm casualties. The bans only emboldened criminals who were previously unlikely to wield a firearm. However, in a discussion with the medical examiner, he reminded me that I only saw the ones that survived long enough for me to treat them. I left DC for other reasons, but like Chicago they deserve what they bring on themselves.

  2. Another PROOF POSITIVE that Gun Control, i.e., controlling law-abiding citizen access to the tools of self defense, does NOTHING but encourage violent crime even in the most wealthy and policed communities.

There is NO such thing as GUN VIOLENCE. There is only CRIMINAL VIOLENCE.

  3. Well the Dems has to do something after rep Buck exposed Nadler and the rest of the “do something crowd”. Apparently when you start affecting their voters then red flag laws aren’t constitutional because “there could be a makes, what about due process, it’s not fair, what if they were only coloring gang signs,..etc. I am sure that is why it happened in an up scale area this time.

  4. Another pyschopathic dem trying to push for gun control in light of the recent scotus pushback.
Im sure some of the Republicans will continue to flip.

  5. (One person was killed and five others were injured in a shooting in Washington D.C. Thursday night, police say.)
Three different news feeds and I had to “search” for D.C. shooting which was covered by the REAL stories like Trump raised 15 million in Ca.. Hell three people were killed and 7 shot in Chicago on Wednesday, anyone hear about that?… My money is on black on black crimes with handguns, no crazed “White Supremecist” with an AR/AK and a hundred round magazine means no story… “It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood”

  6. Aren’t some of the Dems reviving the push to make D.C. a 51st State? I think I read today that Rep. Tlaib was insisting on displaying a 51-star version.

    • There has been a big TV campaign around here lobbying for a 51st DC. Sounds like a bunk idea, however….. Remember that big red map of the US in 2016? What if all those places broke up into many and had two senators each?

      • That’s why they want it to be a state. Two permanent democrat senators. The DC area voted over 90% for Hillary. There’s a reason we made the Capital a district. If they really had to be a state, we could split the difference and let them join Maryland and Virginia, but you can’t get extra senators that way.

        • Much of the taxpayer money spent on DC statehood effort is public funds going to PR and campaign groups that then turn out to be working with election campaign of the DC council members.

And it would be two permanent big government Democrat Senators. It needs to be fought against because statehood is not really as difficult as one would hope.

    • To be honest those don’t seem to be cogent letters even for boilerplate. Frankly they are amateur hour. You can’t threaten a political cost to red flag legislation that runs at 80% to 90% support of the electorate including 2/3 of Republican voters. That is laughable. Literally the group writing these boilerplates and people sending them are defining themselves as “RINOS” given the data that they are out of step and not representative of Republican voters. With 2/3 of Republican voters supporting red flag this means in several close states or congressional districts 80% to 90% of all voters will be in favor.

You need to argue that you have the juice to help these legislators resist red flag — and survive election. Or better yet be smart and propose “light” or significantly neutered versions of red flag and UBC that give the candidate political cover but have less harm. A tiny group like GOA can’t threaten anyone and is unable and unwilling as evidenced from its letters and statements to give an effective cover.

There are some extremely big differences in versions of red flag proposals by state, and in details of UBC versions. The smart play is to assess political reality and get a better end result and not leave the battlefield to your enemy by telling legislators they must die in a banzai charge —especially if your group is relatively tiny.

      • “A tiny group like GOA” They have over 2 million members not exactly tiny. And growing especially with the problems at the NRA.

        • Their 990 says otherwise. maybe 100,000 members if they get no money from donations.

And I have plenty of former employees/interns that are on the hill and working in the Virginia state house as well. 90% of the Congressional offices don’t even know what GOA is

      • “The smart play is to assess political reality and get a better end result ”
No, this has proven, time and time again, to be the dumbest play you can possibly make. Giving up is not a winning strategy. When it comes to gun rights, it has been proven, for over 80 years now, to be the loosing strategy.
The only viable strategy is compromising on what we will take. Never what we will give.

        • chris is ‘reasonable’ troll. Anybody that earnestly quotes those 80-90% lies has swallowed the kool aid by the bucket or is outright lying.

        • JWTaylor you make some of the most uninformed comments here. and I am certain you have not fought this fight on the ground. I have.

Time and time agian we have successfully neutered, poison pilled and reduced effect of legislation. Including the last AWB which was both grandfathered and sunsetted.

You clearly have not looked at the red flag legislation and how it was amended in many states despite steamroller support. Can you even articulate the differences by state in the red flag laws passed recently. In fact quite a number were dramatically reduced in impact in committee and during amendment process.

I don’t support infringements, but I am not stupid enough to think they won’t occur and can’t be reduced in impact..

        • JWM, those are solid poll numbers. Sure people are ignorant as to what UBC is, how it reuies national registration to be effective, and what abuses red flag laws set up, so there is a fundamental problem with that — but it doesn’t mean the poll numbers are wrong. those are two different questions.

  7. For some reason when I think “upscale neighborhoods” I don’t immediately think “housing units”.

When housing units aka apartments are the upscale you’re probably victim of an upsale.

    • Dan is mistaken in this case. This 14th corridor at Columbia Heights in NW below petworth is already – by far —“ the highest violent crime area outside of SE DC.
It isn’t “upscale” but partially gentrified and most not with a huge amount of subsidized low income housing.
If you go to DC MPD’s website and call up the crime map, the area in question has a shload of serious violent crime. At Columbia heights station and one block either way is mostly fine, two and three blocks away has plenty of crime.

We need to be ready with the sober and smart arguing points. A lot of DC shootings, including the most recent high fatality one (navy yard) then gun came from Virginia. Virginia is of course target #1 for Bloomberg since all statewide offices (Gov., Lt. Gov., AG, both US Senators) are now Democrats, and Virginia’s legislature is by hair’s breadth GOP and likely will change soon. That is why Bloomberg spends more per capita on Virginia than any state.
Our arguing point in DC has to be centered on the fact that Virginia respects thenSecond amendment more and has a lower homicide rate than either DC or Maryland. Like Chicago the question we need to pose is: if neighboring states like Indiana or Virginia are the cause, why do those states have lower murder than Chicago or Virginia? Thus we make it about relative short sentences and plea bargains for criminals and poor prosecution in dc and Chicago and not blaming neighboring states.

There is a very good chance this AK came from Virginia. You can’t register one in DC. We need to be smart with cogent response.

      • What you’re really trying to say is it’s the fault of lax gun laws in neighboring states. Maybe you’ll have a ‘reasonable’ and ‘commonsense’ suggestion to prevent this in the future. UBCs? Registration?

        • JVm you are a troll in the extreme. Again I am sure you are someone who has never really lifted finger in this issue. Here is what I wrote above:
“Our arguing point in DC has to be centered on the fact that Virginia respects the Second amendment more and has a lower homicide rate than either DC or Maryland. ”

That is precisely the point to make.

      • all this focus on where the gun came from. How did the AK manage to walk into that neighborhood by itself?
Damn guns, we need to make sure they don’t “come” from anywhere.

MD doesn’t just have a problem with guns from other places, it’s got a bigger problem with criminals from south of the border. And they won’t turn them over to ICE.

one of the politicians will change their mind when a family member is loved by an illegal. It’s happening at a good rate lately.

        • I agree with you, but it doesn’t change the fact that the other side makes an argument that we don’t counter well.

        • You really don’t understand the mindset of these people. The affected politician will make up all kinds of excuses for the perp and publicly forgive him. Then go right back to taking the guns from law abiding citizens so they can’t hurt these poor unfortunates.

    • Columbia Heights is not upscale. Sure it is gentrified by the Metro station, and for the past 10 years developers have been pushing hard to gentrify it. Hopefully, those yuppie gentrifiers get a taste of their own medicine and experience what “vibrant diversity” really is. Note, I am not putting down the notion of diversity, I am a person of color myself who lived in the neighborhood. But these yuppies think of diversity in terms of meek and submissive gardeners and housekeepers, and like to ignore the social problems which lead to violence like this. They also tend to vilify gun-owners and the police.

  8. We’re talking about DC here. The murder rate there isn’t as bad as it once was, but it’s still pretty bad. It’s funny how a change in neighborhood within the same city affects how violence gets reported… or not reported.

    • Outside of southeast DC, where most violent crime occurs, the major hotspot elsewhere in the city is Columbia heights where this one occurred.

The neighborhood where this occurred is a major crime hotspot.

  9. As mentioned there WAS a mass shooting yesterday(Wed now) in Chiraq. 4 brown colored fellas of which 3 died. Barely a peep even on the local snooze…and we’re supposed get jazzed by THIS?!? I hope Drumph doesn’t “do something” for the chillen as he wants to ban E-cig’s because Baron might get one(pretty sure most of the death/illness is homemade E-concoction).

    • DC has a high murder rate per capita. But it is a relatively small city of 630,000 so occurrence rate is relatively low compared to cities of seven to two million people.
So two guys opening up with an AK in the middle of a growing strength push for a national ban on “assault rifles” in the city where a fkload if the people deciding are living, is newsworthy.

It sure is leading the news in all the DC papers, radio stations and small and large local news websites. If the AK is sourced to Virginia the other side is going to have a good “assault rifle” national ban talking point that we need to be able to counter better than with “so what.”

      • It’s scary what’s happening in Virginia politics. The western half of the state is a completely different world. If they want to make a new state, split Virginia in half with the eastern half getting DC. We can call the other half Westernmost Virginia since it’s farther west than West Virginia.

        • Virginia is target #1` for Bloomberg. he has spent more per capita there than any other state. No state is more at risk

The problem with Virginia is two fold:
          a) there is a massive growth in latin american immigration in Virginia, legal and illegal, and Latin Americans are the second strongest supporters of gun control after Asians in the US. and there are a lot more Latin Americans.
          b) in terms of GOP vs Dems Northern Virginia has become an extension of DC and v virtually everyone in Dc has a direct interest in bigger government. And while the GOP sins on that often enough they don’t come close to the Democrats in supporting more government jobs and more power and jobs for quasi governmental (lobbyists/think tanks etc) people.

  10. I live about 10 miles from DC and yes, Columbia Heights in DC is a high-crime area within the generally toney and well-guarded NW quadrant of the city (it’s where all the wealthy and upper-middle-class live – think Georgetown and Chevy Chase). If this incident had happened in SE, not much attention would be paid, since it would be business-as-usual ethnic crime. But since it happened in NW close to where all the swells live, that’s different. This incident is probably just another ethnic criminal/gang shooting, but if it involved an AK and since DC is a Dem city by a vast majority – I think all the Repubs moved to Virginia years ago – you can bet that this incident will be spun to the max by the local (Washington Post, aka Pravda-on-the-Potomac) and national news bureaus (especially MSNBC and CNN, aka the Communist News Network). Virginia will probably be getting some anti-gun spin, too, not only by DC and national politicians, but also by our very own Gov Ralph and his band of uber-sensitive anti-gun progressive sycophants, who will use anything they can to revert the commonwealth back to where it was thirty years ago with regard to guns.

    • There were two shooting incidents with fatalities in DC last night – the other occurred in NE DC, which isn’t far behind SE in violent criminal incidents. No indication that the Columbia Heights shootings and the NE shootings were linked. I checked the Washington Post and found the story of these incidents buried in the Metro section, and it’s not very long. No race mentioned for either the shooters or the victims, so you know what that means. One group of thugs shot up another group – looks like a gang-bang. No crazies or OFWGs involved. The only thing that stuck out in the story is the “AK-style rifle” that the perps allegedly used. And a DC city counsilor subsequently issued a statement with the usual generic anti-gun pablum. One question: In the photo of the crime scene that appeared with the Post’s online story, if this was a murder crime scene, why was a DCFD hook-and-ladder firetruck there? Inquiring minds want to know.

      https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/public-safety/at-least-four-people-shot-in-columbia-heights-dc-police-say/2019/09/19/557c3b4e-db51-11e9-bfb1-849887369476_story.html

      • Stanton and Alabama ave are shooting and stabbing lanes. MLK and Barry Farms are notorious areas.

Lots of old fat white Republican evangelicals live there. /sarc

        • Interesting – nobody obtained the getaway car’s tag numbers, and no description of the perps except there were two of them armed with an AK. That should be helpful to investigators. That info is the same given in the WaPo article.

        • I like the colorful descriptions of what they wear. Like Air Jordans or hair dyed blond. They can be quite fashionable. Hoodies are real popular now but the sports jerseys are a hot item.

The alerts currently state b/m nearly every time. That’s bound to change because not only is it redundant but someone is going to call it racist. I’ve never seen a w/m or w/w and only a few times h/m. Maybe they just put two categories together; who knows.

They tend to advise not to apprehend too. No problem for me Mac but I think the cops take that advice too.

        • “Crime Alert 4th District (PSA 401-409)
Alert: Robbery Investigation in the 600 block of Taylor St NE. Lookout for a B/M 5'8", slim build, dark complex., wearing a ski mask, black hoodie with sleeves rolled up, and blue jeans. Suspect fled in a dark blue dodge pick-up truck southbound on Taylor Street DO NOT TAKE ACTION CALL 911 W/ EVENT #I20190572214 Sent to 4th District (PSA 401-409) Alert DC Sent by MPD Cad # 12083 ”

And one just popped up. Hoodie, check. Ski mask, check.

And suffering from a dark complex. Clearly needs a hug.

So if someone with a ski mask and hoodie approaches you in the District you are about to become a statistic

      • Hook and ladders will be dispatched inDC and most cities in life threatening emergency if it is at station closer and faster than standard EMS.

    • Don’t know. No information was given to give motivation in the killings. A PO’d relation is possible, and so is a drug deal gone bad, but my guess is that it was gang-related – two guys with heavy artillery (AK) ambushing a group of rivals, and any witnesses were too scared to provide details and risk retaliation.

    • It is a criminal on criminal shooting like 93% of DC shootings. The Washington post is now reporting that four of the victims have illegal gun crimes and all but one have extensive criminal records and five are reportedly members of a specific GANG.

  11. The District of Criminals once again lives up to its name. “Automatic Gunfire” witness needs to watch and listen to Jerry Miculek shooting a revolver. Damn that guy’s a force of nature.

  12. Socialist Democratic black ops wet work specialists at work, fire up some joint then pick a mentally challenged person to take the fall after keeping them sedated with opioids for a week, and introduce a virulent cancer virus into their system so they do not survive the phony investigation by the bought and paid for Federal Baby Incinerators!

  13. Not in CNN’s headlines this afternoon. I guess the shooter was the wrong shade and affiliated with the wrong people to be of interest.

  14. the media forgot to mention it is a crime ridden neighborhood and the shooting is gang related.. but that doesn’t push their agenda
