When we decided to add Full-Auto Friday to the 2016 Texas Firearms Festival, we had a problem: safety. Chief RSO Nick Leghorn was worried about splashback on our metal targets. Enter Sinterfire, makers of lead-free frangible ammunition. Their rounds combine powdered metal and ceramic technology with non-ferrous composite materials to create reliable and accurate frangible ammo. Whether fired from a handgun or rifle, Sinterfire rounds are ridiculously safe, even on metal targets at close distances. Sinterfire’s participation was double good, as new-for-2016 exhibitor Wilson Combat . . .

is demo’ing (and selling) both their legendary pistols and custom rifles. Wilson Combat signed-up for Best of the West’s outdoor pistol range. Again, enter Sinterfire frangible ammo. Ticket holders who sample Wilson Combat firearms will be able to shoot in perfect safety. Click here to buy your tickets now!

Sinterfire is setting up their tent in front of the Wilson Combat pistol range. They’ll explain the advantages of their lead-free frangible ammo, including increased accuracy and reduced bore wear. And sell it at a discount to ticket holders. It’s ideal ammunition for the Texas Firearms Festival — and you!

  1. At $0.62/rnd for their. 45ACP offering (luckygunner, other places are more expensive) the price is somewhere between my usual range ammo and good defensive loads in this caliber.

LG also has a defensive load from them at $.82/Rd, a bit less expensive than traditional defensive rounds.

Might have to check this out.

  2. For paper punching, I’ll keep rolling my own. But there’s no denying of being able to shoot steel at much closer ranges than would ever be safe with standard rounds.

  3. All these advertisements teasing me. I already have hotel, airfare, tickets and rental car paid. Just gotta save for the shooting and food.

    • Ammo is included with your ticket for Saturday and Sunday! We had to charge for ammo on Full Auto Friday, otherwise that minigun would break my budget with a quickness.

      • I understand that. I’m talking about paying for Friday. Minigun isn’t on my list, depending what is available mp5, x95, maybe some type of 5.56 beltfed. Have the list top to bottom of what I want to shoot, if you have a m2 I’m probably going to go overbudget!

  4. Sure.
Taunt me with a picture of a turkey…
I’m thinking seriously of flying down for this.
I don’t want to kick myself again for missing another year.

    • This year was a budget planned event for me. This may be the only year I can attend, but I will be sure to enjoy every second of it.

  5. Just curious, but what kind of wounds does frangible ammo cause? I assume they’re still lethal, somewhat like birdshot?
