Most people don’t know about SIG SAUER’s commemorative engraving program. Heck, I didn’t know about it until Kevin shoved one of the sample handguns under my nose. The idea behind the scheme is to give back a little bit to military units, law enforcement organizations, and other pro-gun groups by providing them with a unique and custom-engraved firearm to commemorate their service or other events. Oh, and did I mention that with the military / LEO discount, it can actually come out cheaper than buying a gun off the shelf? Make the jump for the presser . . .
NEWINGTON, N.H. (June 17, 2014) — The SIG SAUER® Commemorative Engraving Program allows qualified units, departments, or organizations to proudly display past or current service, membership, pride or achievements with a customized firearm.
Eligible participants work with SIG SAUER to design commemorative handguns and rifles as well as receive discounted pricing, with minimum orders as low as 25 handguns or 15 rifles.
To be eligible to order commemorative engraved SIG SAUER firearms, participants must belong to one of the following groups or organizations:
• Active or Retired Law Enforcement Officers with official agency credentials
• First Responders
• Active Duty and Retired Military of any rank with Military ID
• Active Reservists and National Guard of any rank with Military ID
• Correction Officers, including Parole and Probation Officers
• State Licensed Armed Security Officers and Licensed Security Companies
• Court Judges, District Attorneys, and Deputy District Attorneys
• State, County, and City Officials with official agency credentials or official documentation
• NRA Certified Firearms Instructors
• Credentialed Nuclear Security Officers

So a lot of people will be interested and qualify. Except you.

It’s a killer deal. My Infantry Brigade used Sig’s commemorative service after our tour in Iraq in 2008.
I got a P220R with our patch engraved and gold inlayed on the top of the slide as well as some verbage on the side. Great deal. $700 out the door for a brand new P220R with three magazines and Trijicon sights. We each paid Sig directly by credit card over the phone. All the pistols were shipped to one local gunstore where we all did our paperwork and NICS. No transfer fees either.
Wonder if the Chipolte Commandos are an approved organization? The would make for some awesomely hilarious custom work!

My unit did this same thing with Smith and Wesson for M&Ps. I wanted to do the deal because it was about $500 before the transfer. I didn’t do it because I was too busy and missed the deadline. The design was not too over the top and blended in with the gun.

I can’t be the only one who’s tired of reading that. How about a discount for the rest of us: the ones who pay full price for pistols on top of paying taxes which pay for military and “LEO” gear, in addition to subsidizing their discounts.
If Sig and Glock want to fawn all over the cops and the military, let them try to stay in business solely by pandering to them, and see how far they get without us.
I live in a city with 5 military installations within 15 min of each other. It’s EVERYWHERE here. Free credit for high end electronics, guns, gear, automobiles, you name it. Discounts out the wahzoo. The best thing to do as a civie, is find yourself a military/LEO friend and use the discount.
Actually the discounts are very easy to get. Just join the army for a few years, and you’re in.

Which for GLOCK (for instance) includes, in addition to LEO/Military:
•EMT’s, Fire Fighters, Volunteer Fire Fighters, and Paramedics
•Reservists and National Guard with I.D. (Includes retired Military with “retired” credentials)
•Corrections Officers, including Parole and Probation Officers
•State Licensed Security Companies (Loomis, RAM, etc.)
•State Licensed Armed Security Officers
•Court Judges, District Attorneys and Deputy District Attorneys
So basically, in addtion to cops and soldiers, it applies to:
people who volunteer to put their @ss on the line for free;
work as licensed security (i.e. put their @ss on the line for, usually, not much pay);
or have an advanced education (law degree) and could be raking in the dough in private practice,
but instead chose to work for a lot less pay doing something they believe in and which we need them to do.
They also all pay taxes just like the rest of us.
So, yeah, those of us who’ve never done any of that don’t get the “Thanks for your service” discount. Boo hoo.
And by the way, “a discount for the rest of us” is a meaningless phrase. If it’s for everyone, then it’s the price, not a discount.

If you’re paying full MSRP you need your head examined. The IOP pricing can me almost matched by anyone with a decent dealer.
Maybe I should whine about ot having access to the local PX here on the Navy base as MY tax dollar pay for their salary and benefits. I’m paying full airline fare while they have numerous industry discounts.
