You see the darnedest things on the internets, don’t you? Those locks and bars on the windows and doors don’t just keep people out, they’re equally effective at locking someone inside. We don’t know where this happened or when (assuming it’s legit). If you do, please let us know in the comments.

The store’s back door (if there is one) was also apparently locked and barred, preventing the would-be robber’s escape that way. In any case, quick thinking by the manager/owner.

    I am having kind of a rough day and I am really frustrated with a new tool that I just purchased which seems to be defective. This video certainly brightened my afternoon.

  6. Find something legitimate to write about. This is an old video (click bait) not worthy of posting because of its age. Why TTAG would allow this does not make sense.

    • I have never seen this video before. And as I indicated in both of my comments above, this video (and the associated comments) is brightening my otherwise less-than-stellar day.

  8. By the way did it dawn on anyone that the robber’s default mindset was that he was NOT going to go to jail until the store manager locked him in the store?

    Think about that. Before the armed robber had any inkling that he would be trapped inside the store, he was certain that he would rob the store and get away with it scott-free — never going to jail for it.

    There is something important there in his mindset for us to learn/understand.

    • The ladies, or at learst the first one, that knew something was up when that guy first walked in. Had they all had their eyes on their phones.it would have been a different out come. Great situational awareness and judgement.

    Nah, just garden veriety systemic racism. The entire store had a layered security system, thus systemic racism. And the first cop through the door was white. And the alleged perp was forced to ly on the floor, obviously the first step in using either a choke hold, or sit on the perp so he couldn’t breathe. Your observation faculties are failing you.

  13. Was he trying to shoot the lock? If so, too bad he didn’t catch a ricochet. Not a fatal one. Just enough to put an exclamation mark on his stupidity. Loved the way he started begging at the end. “I have nothing!” Yet, he was threatening to leave the store clerk without her life.

    A robbery was thwarted at a Houston business when a quick-thinking worker exited the store and locked the would-be thief inside, Houston police said in a statement posted Wednesday, along with a newly released video of the incident. The suspect begged to be let out, but not before he tried to shoot the lock off the door, perhaps something he saw in the movies.

    John Bell, 22, pleaded guilty to aggravated robbery and was sentenced to five years in prison on Dec. 18 in connection with the April incident at Latino Cellular, according to the police statement.

  21. That reminds me of the video out west of two guys covering gunshop owner & wife, then stopping to look at a gun & wife shoots him when he looked away. they ran & were picked up at hospital.
