[The not-so-wild-wild] James West has some advice for gun owners following our story Homeland Security Federal Protective Services Cop Arrested for Maryland Murders. He’s also got some opinions on Donald Trump and states’ rights. Concealed carry where it’s not allowed. Bad idea?

  1. Better to be judged by 12 than be carried by 6?

If more good people carried, this rogue, background-checked federal employee immigrant (and probable Democrat) could have been stopped with less loss of life.

    • Really, you’re going to use the immigrant stigma? You do understand that this country was built by and upon immigration right? I’m second generation on my father’s side and third generation on my mother’s side, but my name is ethnic sounding. Does that make me un-American? Part of the reason we have gun control in this country is because the older immigrants didn’t want the newer immigrants to succeed. You had a good point but ruined it with one ignorant comment.

      • Gun folks are generally good people, but sometimes you have to just shake your head. So says me, the child of immigrants.

      • I’m a first generation immigrant. My father came here from Egypt. We now both own guns. But I must be an evil progressive since my last name sounds Arab (hint: it isn’t)

  2. Anyone want to bet a deep electronic dive is occurring as we speak. Data pass to State troopers. Every man has an opinion and every state is looking for cash flow.

    • Damn straight.

Why is it the laws are work against the good actors only.

That is what has to change, but I don’t know how we do that.

      • Perhaps wake up, take a good look around, and realize that all ‘grand poobah’s’ (authorities, or ‘the man’) everywhere, are not grand at all, but only greedy, petty little men out for all they can get at the people’s expense?
And then perhaps add some good reading like “silent weapons for quiet wars”,
        http://www.theforbiddenknowledge.com/hardtruth/silentweaponsforquietwars.htm
the DOD, USN, ONI manual that is being used against you, me, and everyone else at this moment?

  3. A quick look through Maryland Case Search will show many of the “justice involved youth” arrested for handgun charges in Baltimore don’t even have their cases prosecuted. Those that do usually receive either extremely short sentences or probation. I have no doubts about the outcome of a law abiding, tax paying citizen in the same situation. They would be vilified in the media, face a rigorous and thorough prosecution, and likely receive the maximum sentence, pour encourager les autres.

  4. I have a policy: if my pistol is unwelcome, so is my wallet. If every good gun owner followed this guide…

    • Rusty, I try, really I do, but my favorite rib joint has 30.06 and 30.07 signs so I either disarm (and grumble about it) or use the drive through… the ribs are THAT good.

  5. I carry in “soft” “gun free zones”. Those places that have neither screening for weapons or police present. The 2nd amendment is in full effect in those places. In south Jersey, aka Floriduh, such places have included bars and schools.

  6. Offopic: what happened to comment response tracking? The checkbox is gone completely, which makes it nearly impossible to keep track of conversations.

    • No clue, but at least the edit timer is functional again.

If worst comes to worst, you can somewhat use Google’s advanced search with the time set to ‘last 24 hours’, but it’s rather hit-or-miss…

    • Except that in every state other than Constitutional carry states (or open carry no license states), everywhere is “otherwise prohibited.” And even with a CCW, you are still barred from all federal buildings (and even some parking lots), all federal military installations, all Army Corps of Engineering land, in most states most or all state buildings, all court houses, in some states school campuses (but the 1000′ school zone is OK), and in some states as well, posted private property. In most urban areas, it is literally impossible to carry anywhere in an urban area without violating the GFSZA when off private property.

      • If your legally allowed to carry then you should obviously open carry, and if your not allowed to carry you should do what all criminals (in the technical sense) do and conceal it and carry anyway.

    • I’ll make you deal; come on by the casa, we’ll sit down at the dinner table, have a few beers, and go over my next month’s bills… You can write the checks, covering said bills, and for that whole month, I’ll give a sh*t about which of my carry methods you think is most valid…

      Deal?

      • Welcome to what we like to call the comment section…where people comment freely about their opinions with no justification needed.

        • You started the justification game…

Don’t be upset because I finished it.

        • When you make a statement like “obviously everyone should open carry” with no rationale or anything to back it up, you’re inviting yourself to receive criticism and argument. That’s like saying obviously you should carry a .40 and getting pissy when people reply

        • I read Aerindel’s statement and laughed. I thought it was funny, but then all you guys got serious about it.

  7. Businesses are leaving Maryland *cough* Beretta *cough* and they’re bleeding tax revenue as people decide that they would prefer to enjoy this life in pretty much any place other than high-crime, high-murder Baltimore.

None of that matters to the Democrat regime, however, as long as they can continue to run deficits and finance all of their shenanigans. For example, last year Maryland was reported to be running a deficit of $1.2 billion. http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/maryland/bs-md-budget-hole-20141215-story.html

In 2015, miracle of miracles, the same source reports that Maryland reports is going to achieve a budget *surplus* of $215 million. http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/maryland/bs-md-budget-surplus-20151102-story.html

Not that they’re going to use this alleged surplus to send the police into gangland, arrest drug dealers, criminals or improve their homicide closure rate, one of the worst around. Baltimore solves only one in three murders. Make of that what you will. The criminals certainly do.

  8. The Second Amendment, like all of the Bill of Rights, applies only to governmental bodies. As such it is only valid in public space. Private establishments can set what ever policies they chose.

This should have been a reply to stateisevil

  9. If Trump gets national carry it will only because he traded it for an assault weapo,s ban, magazine size restrictions, universal background checks and national firearm registration.

    • I really doubt that.

Let’s first get him in office and sweat the details later.

His kids should clue him on what’s kosher and what’s not regarding the 2A.

The next few months we will be seeing the great metamorphosis of Trump by his newly-hired election ‘consultants’ to appear palatable to the electorate…

      • “You have to pass the bill to see what’s in it.”

No thanks. I prefer to vote for politicians who are honest about their intentions. Getting harder and harder to find lately.

        • Ever notice that we used to vote for the candidate we liked the most? And then the one we disliked the least? And now its voting against the one we hate the most.
Seems like a downhill slide to me. I can’t imagine anything lower. We’re scraping the bottom of the barrel now. Nowhere to go but up.

        • “No thanks. I prefer to vote for politicians who are honest about their intentions.”

So, you’ll be voting for the HildaBeast?

She’s made her position on guns quite clear.

I *know* her intentions, I’ll be voting for *whoever* her opponent is…

        • The national elections have become a lost cause. You get to choose between Hitler and Stalin. Yeah yeah, Godwin’s law blah blah, I get it. Sorry to break it to you, if people don’t start studying history soon they won’t realize they are repeating it as we speak. Don’t vote for the Communist, vote for the other guy instead who says things you want to hear and makes empty promises about making everything wonderful. “The next few months we will be seeing the great metamorphosis of Trump by his newly-hired election ‘consultants’ to appear palatable to the electorate…” Get your head out of the sand and study your freakin history. This is how it’s done, folks.

I was referring to the fact that there are still a few good men and women at the local level who still have a shred of honesty, integrity, and respect for the law.

        • I was referring to the fact that there are still a few good men and women at the local level who still have a shred of honesty, integrity, and respect for the law.

Honesty, integrity and respect for the law is why they are at the local level and will never advance beyond it.

        • Ralph, your twenty-one words concisely say everything you need to know about modern American politics.

      • Trump is already moving leftward. He has suggested we not pay our debts in full and has been reconsidering his position on raising the minimum wage. Fight for $15 will soon be on the agenda.

    • If Hillary is elected, her SCOTUS appointees will turn the court anti-business, ant–capitalist, anti-firearm and leftist for the first time in it’s history. Australian-Style (or worse) gun control will follow.

Stalinist “Report & Reward” will slowly round up all the evil folks who violate the gun laws. A burglar/rapist/killer breaking into your house who finds guns will get a big reward and a medal for turning you in. Probably coming next spring or summer.

  10. Given that 1. many people have a professional license; and 2. Carrying a concealed firearm under decisional law is a “crime of moral turpitude”; and 3. conviction of a crime of moral turpitude could result in a suspension or revocation of the professional license, the consequence is that even a misdemeanor conviction of carrying without a license can have ramifications far beyond the conviction of a “mere” misdemeanor. (In California, carrying without a license is a “wobbler” that can be charged as either a felony or a misdemeanor.) If caught, charged and convicted, a professional licensee can also loose his/her ability to make a living. So it is more like a choice between convicted by twelve or by a faceless board of bureaucrats.

  11. Everyone’s thinking it. He’s just saying it. The only things cops in blue states care about are arresting otherwise lawful gun owners and giving out speeding tickets. They won’t be there to protect you when some spook comes after you, possibly armed with his illegal handgun.

  12. I agree with what he says about returning power to the states. That’s what the 10th amendment is all about. I’m confused on why he thinks Trump can order the states to do anything though. Maybe I just don’t know law enough..

  13. If you violate the law/rule/statute/policy, you must be willing to suffer the consequences of said violation should you be caught. Make sure you understand the repercussions and then make your decision on whether you will choose to follow it. No different than any other law, really. Ever exceed the speed limit? Better know what the fine is and be ready to pay it if you get caught. Shoplift a candy bar? Same.

  14. I’m catching crap here in Spokane because I comment in the local paper…pro gun. We have had three police shootings in the past week and all were mental health goober caused. This is in the downtown area. I stated that as a concealed carrier, I really have no reason to be downtown and if I do, I’m carrying my firearm. Well of course the anti-gun morons have to counter my comments on how they go downtown and are not scared yadda yadda. Well no they don’t, they lie. The area is packed with freaks and homeless and nobody with a functioning brain goes walking around town at night. I’m not scared, but then as a concealed carrier, I have to conduct myself with a higher degree of responsibility and be sure not to insert myself into questionable circumstances needlessly.

Domestic problems are not something ANYONE should intervene in and if they do, they better be armed and ready to jerk that gun and be ready to go to work without hesitation because domestic violence can explode in an eye blink.
I leaned that 40 years ago.

  15. Ah the myth of “not allowed”….
Why do so many buy into this myth?
In reality, it is the ‘not allowing’ that is not allowed, correct? It says so right in the constitution.

    • ^^^ This times 1000! It seems that that a decent lawyer would be able to make a mockery of ANY law that infringes on that “right”.

  16. I’m worried that dude is gonna stroke out long before he gets to test out his Good Samaritan theory. Morbidly obese and cigarettes do not a good health outcome make. Might want to get those dingy teeth looked at too.
I also shudder to think what might be residing in that beard of his.

  17. You have NO rights in Maryland.
If you survive the shooting, and the Trial…which is doubtful, because the full power of the State is brought into crushing any Serf who pretends to have the right to bear arms…You will then be bankrupt and 8000 years old by the time you get out of prison…And during the time spent in prison, you will be shanked repeatedly by the other inmates.

So what you need to do is leave Maryland and never return.

  18. Right. So long it not starts white felony charges and “only” misdaemors so long ignore ignore “no gun” shield and only follow the ccw law if can

  19. We have had three police shootings in the previous week and all were emotional well-being goober caused. This is in the downtown range. I expressed that as a disguised transporter, I truly have no motivation to be downtown and in the event that I do, I’m conveying my gun. Well obviously the counter weapon nitwits need to counter my remarks on how they go downtown and are not terrified yadda. Well no they don’t, they lie. The region is stuffed with oddities and destitute and no one with a working mind goes strolling around town during the evening.
