“A Florida man who suggested shooting guns at Hurricane Irma out of ‘stress and boredom’ has found that his idea has captured peoples’ imaginations,” telegraph.co.uk reports, “with over 46,000 signing up to join in.” That would be on the “Shoot at Irma” Facebook page. As of this writing . . .

22,000 ‘bookers are “interested” with 50,000 “going.” I clicked on interested; I’m interested to see if anyone’s irresponsible enough to violate one of the Four Rules of Gun Safety: know your target and what’s beyond it.

A hurricane is bad enough, throwing random stuff through the air at well over 75 miles per hour. Add bullets to the mix and, well, who needs that? Then again, this is a joke and no one could possibly take it seriously. Right?

    • Let’s see…my ballistics app says for a 600 yard shot with Hornady ELD Match .308 I need to hold 60 MOA for a full value 140 mph wind. No prob…376 inches off the side of the target, breathe, press trigger…easy peasy.

      • Now how do we stack three 20 moa scope bases on their sides so we can dial that hold in? Maybe that shoot around the corner curved barrel m3 is a better way to do this.

    • Maybe when you are a joke you fail to notice jokes? Like when you don’t notice you have an accent because everyone around you talks like that.

  1. Well, launching lead at hurricanes may not be a bright thing to do, but keeping your guns handy may save your life:

“Survivors of Irma beg for aid and face armed looters as they brace for Jose”

    https://www.theguardian.com/world/2017/sep/09/irma-survivors-beg-aid-lhurrican-jose

Something tells me the looting thugs were grateful the Bahamas government was looking out for their well-being when they seized the citizen’s guns.

This *is* what happens to a disarmed population…

  2. Question of the day: What gun do you use to hunt hurricanes?
Bonus: Could one physically survive the amount of drugs one would have to do to actually believe they could kill a hurricane?

  3. It may have been posted as a joke but you have to consider two things: (1.) The people who would be shooting at the hurricane will be those who were too foolhardy/stupid to heed evacuation orders and (2.) They’re probably drunk. That means that there may be more than 125 mph rain drops may be pelting you if you stayed.

  4. I don’t plan to shoot at the hurricane
I am in Palm beach county and we just lost power
I spent all day yesterday oiling up all my guns with clp collector oil
It gave me something to do and took a long time!
Now that we have no a/c the humidity is rising inside our house
We have 12 volt golf cart batteries to run fans and lights and plenty of food and water
Our community has a generator at the clubhouse, so I will recharge the batteries there after the storm
You can’t run a portable generator inside during the storm as the exhaust is poisonous
The police recommend a chain and padlock for portable generators as they will be in high demand
Here in Florida you can’t shoot to defend property

    • “Here in Florida you can’t shoot to defend property”

Lethal force is justified against felony car (vehicle) jacking.

      And vehicles are property…

      • A carjacking is simply a specific term for armed robbery involving the taking of a motor vehicle. No matter what you want to call it, it’s armed robbery and ample justification to shoot at the person(s) threatening you.

  5. Actually I thought about that, but specially detonation cryogenic ‘chargers’ in the atmosphere about a hurricane to disrupt it. But it would have to be done while the storm is forming to keep it from every building up this much energy.

  6. How about recognizing man cannot Control mother nature and it can kill you if ur stoopid and u can’t have instant gratification 24/7 with ur head buried up the ass of ur dumbphone txting like a zombie on acid….reality is a bitch…..
