Let’s be honest, lots of gun buyers don’t want to mess with buying a rifle, choosing a separate optic and then putting the two together. That may not be you, but describes a significant segment of the market for hunting rifles.

For hunters who want to buy the complete package with good, affordable components in a wide range of caliber options (and with the excellent AccuTrigger), Savage has just what they’ve been looking for. Here’s their press release . . .

Savage Unveils the Complete Package: 110 APEX Hunter XP

WESTFIELD, Massachusetts – April 15, 2019 – Savage is proud to introduce the 110 Apex Hunter XP, which pairs a Model 110 rifle with a 3-9x40mm Vortex Crossfire II scope that comes mounted, bore-sighted and ready to hunt. Shipments of these firearms have been delivered to dealers.

The platform provides accuracy and adjustability like no other package rifle thanks to the Savage AccuTrigger, thread- in headspacing, floating bolt head and precision button-rifled barrel. Plus, its length-of-pull can be quickly adjusted to fit any hunter for better comfort and consistency. The Crossfire II Dead-Hold BDC reticle makes it easier to place accurate shots at extended range, and the optic is securely mounted to a one-piece EGW 0 MOA rail.

Features
• Redesigned Model 110 rifle
• 3-9x40mm Vortex Crossfire II scope, mounted and bore-sighted
• Dead-Hold BDC reticle’s hashmark design reduces guesswork on holdover and windage
• Vortex Hunter medium rings and one-piece EGW 0 MOA rail
• User-adjustable AccuTrigger
• Adjustable length-of-pull
• Modern ergonomics
• Detachable box magazine
• Available in left hand models and with Muddy Girl stock

The available model list below also includes the 110 APEX Hunter XP in left-hand and Muddy Girl Camo options, plus the 110 APEX Storm XP which is the stainless steel receiver and barrel option.

    • I don’t know if you saw this, but there’s no muddy girl camo option for 6.5. It’s too bad, they almost made a sale.

      • No, there’s muddy girl for the Creedmoor but not the .260. Makes sense, nobody’s going to buy a .260 in muddy girl, and they’ll probably sell more Creedmoors in it than all the others combined.

  1. Aren’t both brands part of Vista Outdoors? Makes sense to cross-market like this. The gun-mart types love selling the assembled package deals.

    • Not according to Wikipedia. Vortex Optics is a DBA of Sheltered Wings, Inc., which was incorporated in the State of Wisconsin in 1989. Sheltered Wings, Inc. DBA Vortex Optics began in 2002.

Now for the odd part –

Savage is owned by Vista Outdoors-
      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vista_Outdoor

As is Bushnell – which is what they used to put on their Savage 111 packages.

I bought a 111 in .30-06 around 2006. and I believe it had a Bushnell optic on it. I have since upgraded that to a Nikon. Though the Bushnell we did put on one of my Father’s guns, a Savage 99C in .243 Winchester.

  2. A good package that comes a little too late. I bought a Savage rifle and Vortex scope separately a few years ago. I could have saved a few $$ with this combo. The Vortex scope may be inexpensive but it is very nice. The eye relief is long and forgiving.

  3. Nice change in the scope mounting. The typical complaint for the package rifles was that the scope rings would come loose. These should not do that. Retail prices will be less than MSRP, and they usually have a sale at least once a year with $50 to $100 rebate, making a superb hunting deal.

  4. Better option than Model 10 package rifle I bought 12 years ago, came with a Simmons scope. I know better now.

  5. The item # for the 350 Legend is 57535. I lost the magazine. I found a magazine for a 350 Legend “AXIS” model (I think). It worked fine. Now I have to figure out if both rifles take the same magazine or if I just mixed them up. More work, but I love it. Does anyone know if the 110 Apex Hunter and the AXIS take the same mag (and save me some work)? Stay safe.
