Last month, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors voted to label the National Rifle Association and its five million members a terrorist organization. Calling the grandstanding move “a reckless assault on a law-abiding organization, it’s members, and the freedoms they all stand for,” the NRA turned around and filed suit against the feces-stained city by the bay.

As the AP reported at the time,

The lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, accuses city officials of violating the gun lobby’s free speech rights for political reasons and says the city is seeking to blacklist anyone associated with the NRA. It asks the court to step in “to instruct elected officials that freedom of speech means you cannot silence or punish those with whom you disagree.” …

“This action is an assault on all advocacy organizations across the country,” said William A. Brewer III, the NRA’s lawyer. “There can be no place in our society for this manner of behavior by government officials. Fortunately, the NRA, like all U.S. citizens, is protected by the First Amendment.”

Now, according to the AP, the city appears to be backing down before the case ever sees a courtroom . . .

San Francisco’s mayor has told department heads they cannot investigate the possible ties of city contractors to the National Rifle Association, prompting the gun-rights group to declare victory in its ongoing fight with the liberal city.

Mayor London Breed issued the advisory on Sept. 23, a few weeks after the Board of Supervisors passed a resolution labeling the NRA a “domestic terrorist organization” and calling on the city to take steps to assess possible ties between its contractors and the organization.

In a memo co-written by the city attorney, Breed wrote that the board can only enact new contracting requirements by ordinance. Resolutions have no legal weight.

You can read Heronner’s memo here. Thou they’ve declared partial victory, the NRA isn’t pulling in the reins.

William A. Brewer III, counsel to the NRA, said Tuesday the memo is a “clear concession” to a lawsuit filed in federal court against the city in response to the resolution. He called the memo a positive development but said the NRA will not withdraw its lawsuit until the resolution is formally revoked.

“San Francisco publicly, officially maligned law-abiding NRA members as terrorists and publicly, officially vowed to blacklist them from government work,” he said.

City officials, however, say the organization is misinterpreting what the resolution does and is inaccurate in describing the memo as any kind of retreat.

Uh huh. The NRA seems determined to push this until the city rescinds the terrorist label. And who could blame them.

Meanwhile . . .

  1. If they spent half the energy that they spend in being “woke” in actually solving their city’s problems, think about how much nice SF would be.

    • The liberals aren’t about fixing problems or anything, just causing problems so they can add more Govt control over the “people!

  2. I’ll direct everyone’s attention to the first AP store, specially how they refer to the NRA as ‘the gun lobby’. As if the NRA is the ‘gun lobby’ instead of just one pro gun rights activist group amount many. Seems to me that’s a pretty obvious ‘dog whistle’ to the antis.

  3. Sue them for at least 1billion dollars. We need the money to fight All the anti gun legislation coming from the Northeast coast, the West coast and our tyrannical federal government.

    • “Sue them for at least 1billion dollars.”

The conservative residents of San Fran need to band together and sue the city for not dealing with the shit on public streets and sidewalks.

      It’s a legitimate health hazard…

    • All true, but SF doesn’t even crack the top ten for dirtiest city.. NY, Baltimore, Boston, Houston. Philadelphia, Chiraq, denver, LA, etc.. are all dirtier in their own special way..
I swear people in Manhattan just toss their garbage out the window.. and Houston has the most ‘pests’.. rats and the like.. Denver air quality is just plain toxic. Blah blah…

      • Didn’t a mouse literally just drop from the White House ceiling yesterday and onto a reporter’s lap before scampering away? Maybe let’s add D.C. to the list and remove Houston?

      • Beg to differ, but Washington, DC has the most rats. Only difference is the ones in DC walk around wearing suits and ties. They call themselves “legislators”, or “democrats”, and sometimes, “republicans” or “independents”. Basically they are all sewer rats, in my opinion. The only thing they are interested in is getting re-elected and scheming all the money they can get from the American people

  4. Ummm…isn’t old Wayne LaPew kinda sorta a terrorist with our money?!? Same old same old won’t cut it for me to reup my NRA membership. LaPew needs to go😫

    • Acting like sneak thief, incompetent manager, pickpocket, or drunken wastrel depending on which version you believe. Not terrorist since he isn’t attacking innocents for political change, just feathering his and his cronies’ nest at our expense.

  5. Anyone else tired of the “brown wall” tactic? You know, when they keep throwin sh*t against the wall to see what sticks. More accurately, what they can get away with!

    • “In a memo co-written by the city attorney, Breed wrote that the board can only enact new contracting requirements by ordinance. Resolutions have no legal weight.”

Like that will do anything, except cover Breed’s ass. For leftists, personnel is policy. They’ll do it anyway, they will just be smart enough not to document it.

  6. Honestly the city should be sued in a class action laws suit for a minimum of libel or defamation of character against the NRA and its members. If it was me I wouldn’t settle for rescinding the resolution. I would seek damages as the damage has already been done. The problem is the people that supposedly care about gun rights want to play nice. While you can bet your ass if the left was in the same position they would be moving forward like a steam roller like they always do. Gun rights organizations and pro gun people in general need to take the gloves off and fight this fight like they are in it to win it.

    • We need to proceed and get compensation for libel to all of us still in the NRA. “Opps Sorry,” does not cut it real damage was done and we were place at risk for illegal Red Flag confiscations unnecessarily. And, to discourage future misguided groups from misappropriating the civil rights of others in such a cavalier fashion, very heavy punitive damages should be sought and awarded. Imagine a local government passing a decree violating the rights of any other social group or of any racial groups. This is just the Clan reborn in the 21st century. Today NRA members tomorrow any target sociological, political, cultural, racial group of their choice.

    • They didn’t rescind the resolution. They only said that it can’t be used as an excuse to stop doing business with contractors associated with the NRA. To implement a policy, they’ll have to follow up with an ordinance.

  7. The mayor’s name is London Breed. That’s fucking irony. A mayor of a Communist shit hole city who’s named after another Communist shit hole city. Fuck her and fuck San Fran.

  8. The poop situation in SF is no joke, it is a serious odorous reality. Friends past thru there recently and tell me it was the same as I complained about when I was last there 25 years ago. All those big city parks reeked of dog droppings, there were stinking piles everywhere and the stench carried on the breeze well away from the parks. I’d been sent there on a work assignment, stating in the South Bay and met friends who’d moved there for a walking tour.

Museums, restaurants and such like. Great destinations and food, no doubt of it. Expensive tho, out of reach for many. Forget about owning a home. And of course, the stench of all that dog shit.

My friends stayed a few years, quit those jobs and retired back to our home state.

It’s something I cannot comprehend about that city. Fantastic location, so much going for it. But keep it clean?

    No way in hell!

    (plus dumb lawmaking, obviously)

    • It’s primate droppings, not canine. Monkeys and apes aren’t roaming the streets in large numbers, so it’s either invisible sasquatches or …

    • “The poop situation in SF is no joke, it is a serious odorous reality.”

That’s the least of the problem, all kinds of *nasty* disease are in it…

    • The wife and I went there a few years ago, and you are not wrong. Food was excellent, although ridiculously expensive. The views are amazing, but it stinks. Bad. And it’s not just dog poop. It’s the body odor of people who dont clean themselves, they shit in the alleys, it’s horrible. The hotel we stayed at told us they had to start pumping a fragrance through the HVAC to keep the smell down.
We were assaulted twice by homeless people in less than 24 hours. Once in broad daylight. We will never go back there again.

      • What you smell in San Francisco is not “dog poop” or “people poop”.

        It’s called “San Francisco Bay”.

You’re next to a considerable amount of water which is regularly polluted by everything under the sun.

What did you expect it to smell like?

In general, I don’t find an excessive amount of “poop” of any kind on the streets – and I live in the Tenderloin. What I do see is undeniably from dogs that people don’t clean up after – just like every other city on the planet.

As for the homeless and panhandlers, I am rarely pan-handled (and I just walk by if I am ignoring their voice) and I’ve never experienced what some people call “aggressive panhandlers.” Occasionally I’ll be sitting in a Burger King near the door and some guy will come in and ask for change for a burger, which I ignore – he is then usually chased out by the staff or the security guard as soon as he is noticed.

San Francisco does have a homeless problem – because it’s welfare system is the best in the country and attracts homeless from everywhere. I know – I’ve been homeless on occasion (not for twenty years now, fortunately.) The Tenderloin is fast becoming a “tent city” lately, indeed.

But a lot of what you hear about San Francisco is BS from people who don’t live here or who have an anti-liberal agenda. I don’t care about “liberals vs conservative” – a pox on both their houses.

I moved here back in 1972 because of the weather – not too hot, not too cold. And after trying places like Oregon, South Dakota, Colorado and Florida, I came back here for the weather. I wouldn’t live anywhere else I can think of – despite the frequent stupidity of the city administration.

    • my initial impression of California still stands after all these years…physically beautiful,..but full of assholes….

  9. Does anyone think the NRA will take note of the fact that using some of the money they get for the purpose of defending gun rights resulted in these libtards turning tail and crawling back under their shit covered rock?

  10. Ha! That’s what they get for opening their liberal pie holes. Open mouth and insert foot.

The San Francisco Board of Stupervisors should be held accountable to the tune of at least a $B or more and put these assclowns in check.

Not only is it the shithole of the Bay Area, but has been the Protest Capital of the West Coast for decades. They bitch about everything stupid thing while protected under the 1st Amendment.

It’s Sodom and Gomorrah out there and they want to throw stones at law abiding Americans and our 2A rights.

The City Government needs a public ass whooping, and the incompetent “London Broil” deserves to have her goose cooked.

  11. Civil rights case against the city n all the officials. Personal abuse of authority case agains each official, everybody who helped them draft it, or carry it out. Civil reparations for loss of commerce, n damage to reputation. Perjury trap for every attempt to walk it back. FOIA everydamnthing. Same “all in” for every jurisdiction n prosecutor who’s discretion says “let it go.” With a paralled media op for the whole thing.

Metaphorical rhetoric is one thing. Worse than criminal labeling, within govt admin n enforcement is quite another. And it was deliberately extortionate: “Have the wrong opinions n we’re gonna crush you w our govt authoritah. You remember those Tea Party IRS inquisitions? The audits on founders of groups we oppose?”

Criminal abuse of authority is criminal. Somebodh said “punch back twice as hard.” That’s good advice on this one.

  12. Where are the Pink Pistols and Blazing Sword on this issue? Any press release Links out there???
    Any protests planned in SF???
