Twenty-four-year-old Javier Manuel Plata was apparently one of those exes who couldn’t let go. On Wednesday he tried to force his way into the home of his 33-year-old ex. According to police, Plata had been texting the woman all day Wednesday and he was waiting for her when she got home.

She asked him to leave and he reportedly did. But not for long. That proved to be a bad decision.

According to KSAT, he came back later that night and discovered that she had the locks changed. That’s when he tried to force his way in through a window.

According to police, the woman was in the bathroom when she heard the Plata walking up the stairs and went to grab her shotgun. Moments later, she opened fire on her ex as he entered the bathroom.

Plata died later at a local hospital.

No one knows what Plata planned to do once he got into the woman’s home and fortunately, she’ll never have to find out. The woman had the means at hand to defend herself against someone who was probably larger and stronger. That’s a decision that more and more Americans are making for themselves every single day.

    • This is a tragedy. Are you a psychopath?

        • How was the 24 year old violent? This was a lover’s quarrel that ended in domestic violence. The woman murdered her ex boyfriend!

      • READ the story…. he BROKE IN after she changed the locks. He was NOT living there. If he had any legal standing to enter the place he could simply have called the cops. That means by definition his entry, through a window, was ILLEGAL, a break-in. Idjet got exactly what he had coming besed on the evidence we have to go on.

      • Wish we had his story. Not all guys are bad, but, every female is hormonal. Sooner or later they all go nuts at least once———— in awhile. As guys we defend the pretty and faceless as this one is, but, openly or jokingly attack the homely and overweight.

        Sound familiar? Liar!

        • Holy shit to see this level of sexism in the wild…

A far greater proportion of men are violent (also due to hormones) than women are hormonally crazy…

  1. It is good to hear that she didn’t do the stereotypical (hopefully wrongly so) thing of buying and failing to be decisive enough with a mouse gun.

  2. “nobody knows what he planned to do if he entered her house.”

I mean, I doubt he was there for tea…

  3. well hopefully she didnt say kungflu or chinese virus or something because then she’d be in trouble

  4. Sounds like he got what he had coming. He wasn’t wanted there, broke in her house to do whatever was in his mind. (Only he knew that) And she defended herself the best way she knew how.

  5. If the description of his behavior is anywhere near accurate, she would have been correct to assume him dangerous. I am sure the police have tallied the number of text messages he sent and her replies. They will also be examining his message content and the content of her replies. Breaking and entering is a clear threat. Seems like a good shoot, but we don’t really know that much.

      • LarryinTX,

        Gosh darn it!!
You’ve let the cat out of the bag!
        We should have you gagged!
The lib trolls who scroll this blog
Will extend that news to pheasant and hog,
to bear and squirrel, and bunnies too,
To quail, and elk, and kangaroo,
To fish in the water and swimming duck!
See what you’ve done! Hunters are now, f#&ked!!

        Just sayin…

        🤪

  6. I wonder…was it her gun or his gun? Maybe they should have confiscated it earlier.
Maybe the guy’s relatives will sue for not enforcing a red flag law of some sort.
Seriously…some people…and lawyers…will surely look for an angle.

  7. This was happening as the San Antonio city council voted to condemn the words “China Virus” as hate speech.

    • Seriously…..San Antonio is just a more run-down version of Austin. Fun fact; it’s illegal to carry a knife with a locking blade there.

      • ??? damn I think the only pocket knife that is not assisted or locks is a way to big to carry swiss army knife I was given as a gag gift by some friends once. I think its almost 2 inches thick.
Texas and Florida are both purpling up I guess.

      • San Antonio knife ordnance.

Sec. 21-17. – Certain knives prohibited generally; exceptions; penalty for violation.

        (a) It shall be unlawful for any person to intentionally or knowingly carry on or about his person a knife with a blade less than five and one-half (5½) inches in length, which knife is equipped with a lock mechanism so that upon opening, it becomes a fixed blade knife.

        (b) The above prohibition set forth in subsection (a) shall not be applicable to a person carrying such a knife:

        (1) In the actual discharge of his duties as a peace officer, a member of the armed forces or national guard, or a guard employed by a penal institution;

        (2) On his own premises or premises under his control;

        (3) Traveling;

        (4) Engaged in lawful hunting, fishing or other lawful sporting activity; or

        (5) Using such a knife in connection with a lawful occupation, during such utilization.

        (Code 1959, § 26-28.1)

Cross reference— Regulation of firearms and weapons, § 21-151 et seq.; possession of a knife, § 21-155.

If you are traveling, or are at home, or need it for work, or are hunting or fishing then you are good to carry a folding, lock blade knife with a blade under 5.5 inches. NB I am always in one of those situations.

Before I moved to PA I carried a knife all the time in San Antonio, Austin, Uvalde, Sabinal, Corpus Christi and Laredo and never had a problem.

The traveling thing also used to be a defense for carrying a gun before the permit was enacted in the mid 1990’s. We used to carry guns all the time and never had a problem as long as one wasn’t committing another crime. That changed with permit and they actually started enforcing the laws against carrying if you didn’t have one.

        • How current is your info? Texas cancelled all it’s knife crap last year, it is now legal to carry a sword. Or a sword cane, or a 6″ switchblade, and on and on. Dunno if San Antonio is allowed to override that, but I somehow doubt it.

      • Is there an exception for people who have a carry permit?

I’m not really a knife guy but I know here in Fl the switchblade I carry is OK with a CCW.

        • In TX, up to the last year or 2, the license was a “CHL”, very deliberately a Concealed Handgun License *only*, nothing to do with open carry or with any manner of weapon other than a handgun. Generally no longer a player, since simultaneously with approving licensed open carry, which makes the license now a “license to carry”, leg approved as well campus carry and car carry, and removed all restrictions on knives. Look for Constitutional carry pretty soon.

  8. This kind of thing puts the Karens in a hard place. A woman uses a firearm to defend herself against domestic violence. Consternation!

  9. Obviously this lady was taking the advice of the late General Paul Tibbets. While being interviewed for an autobiography during his twilight years, the General was asked if he worried about crime. He said that he didn’t worry to much because he kept a loaded shotgun in his house for personal protection. If a 12 gauge shotgun is good enough for the man who had no remorse about killing 50 thousand people when he nuked Hiroshima, it is good enough for a battered woman.

    The husband’s famous last words?
“12 gauge shotgun, that’s small caliber isn’t it?

  10. There’s all kinds of people with guns now. Nope, not because the NRA did their jobs, because a virus out of communist China and a shortage on toilet paper. Looks like all it took was a bio weapons lab, funded by the U.S. government, to “leak” a natural occurring coronavirus.

    Modern Americans are so weird.

  11. Damn Creepy Uncle Joe called one right. I’m sure this will be in his next campaign ad. See all you need is a shotgun.

  12. Forcing your way into a woman’s home when you know you are not welcome there is always a plan for something terrible to happen. Often, it happens to the woman.

You see, it does not matter if his intent was to simply get in, take his stuff back (comments on a news site claim this) and leave. Breaking in is an act of violence. Numerous women get attacked and harmed or killed in exactly such a scenario every year.

The instant he forced entry he was making a deadly threat, no matter what he thought he was doing.

Shooting justified. Sad, but that’s the way of it.

      • There was no murder to be seen in the article or comments. It’s not like she went and shot the guy while he was standing in front of her house. It sounds like a guy opposed to legal defense against home invaders.

  13. LOL- what if a 33 yo male shot a 24 yo female ex girlfriend in his house.

This is murder. You can’t shoot you husband/boyfriend- no matter how much pilpul you pull.

    #support2a

    • Shooting an attacker is self defense.

The sex of the attacker means nothing. The sex of the attacked means nothing.

        • Not sure where your getting that from?

Not sure what role age plays in this either way?

        • So it’s true. You are a boomer.

You boomers watched too much TV. And now you think murder is OK. Sad!

Also- Jews are not allowed to use the anti-white slur Karen. That is our word.

        • Something tells me WhiteGuy is not very smart whiny little beatch. It must be his posts.

  14. TTAG needs to stop pushing the kill your husband meme.

Remember when k a t. Ains WorTH wrote an article saying, “my husband called me fat, that’s abuse, ergo women can shoot men whenever they want.” She was bully died and had to stop writing for this site. She recently appeared in a photo with a horribly BUBBAd Rem 870 with magpul furniture and a detachable magazine. gross.

I guess murder is ok with the enough Talmudic Pilpul, but most readers of this blog are Christians. Murder is wrong. Stop.

  15. He did not break in. She refused to give his belongings to him. Phone and wallet. He lived there. He took care of her children. He was selfless, Christ-like.

There is more to this story. She murdered him. In his own home.

Sounds like he should have had a pistol and shot her.

    Carry everyday!

    • YBDM…. you’re and idjet, or related to him….. NONE of your imaginings were in the story. He obviously did NOT live there as he had been pestering her via texts for DAYS… When he was waiting for her at her home she told him to LEAVE, and he did… IF he had a legal reason to enter AFTER she had changed the locks? All he had to do was call the cops, AND it would have helped document HIS side of the conflict… unless of course HE WAS IN THE WRONG and the cops already KNEW bout him. Since the story ALSO SAYS that no charges are anticipated we can be pretty sure the cops believed she was defending herself after he broke in! All the evidence says YOU ARE A TROLL…. and not even good at it…. Lame-O!

      • People make mistakes in relationships. That doesn’t give you a reason to murder them.

We’re seeing the breakdown of the family right here. If you get to shoot your common law husband, then what’s the point of family?

        • Wtf are you going on about? Guy broke in through a window. Guy got shot for his trouble. No matter what his relationship to her was before, I don’t see anything wrong.

        • AHA! a “True Liberal.”
Out of curiosity, do you also condone spousal abuse?
How about abortion as a method of birth control?
Is it OK to shoplift because they have it and you want it?

  16. She should be thankful she’s in Texas, and not in Maryland.
Here in THE SOCIALIST REPUBLIC OF MARYLAND, the laws and courts nearly always side with the bad guy. [Of course, both houses of the Legislature, and most of the local counties, and the City of Baltimorons, are all BLUE. Even our RED governor is BLUE behind closed doors.]
