  3. Armed with these, special forces operators couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn. But they were devastatingly accurate with a cabbage cannon….

    Doesn’t really recommend itself, does it?

    • If you consider the broadcast timeslot, you were lucky they could even see firearms. And don’t forget the scene where Face files down the sear in the trigger group.

        • Didn’t watch most of the others but Magnum P.I. and Simon and Simon pretty much had signature guns for all the characters.

        • Airwolf always had shooting from helicoptors, airplanes, etc. Machine guns, rockets, missiles

    • Had me one on a ranch in the 90s. When life imploded in the early 00s, sold it for 300, so replacing it would be a wash, at that price.

      Hey, at the time, I liked the look. Today, I like the idea of a brace as an SBR work-around better…

  9. So I’ve heard all the stories of the Mini-14 being as accurate as a garden hose adjusted for wide area dispersal. Problem is, I’ve only shot one of this model, belonging to a friend, and it was a perfectly fine shooter. At 100 yards could reliably hit a clay pigeon, so long as I did my part. With a completely stock gun, plain original stock and sights.

    The other thing is when I’ve tried folding stocks on other long guns I have found them too unbalanced in weight. I ended up removing the folding stock and returning to the standard one that it came with.

    So if this is your thing, ignore all opinions and do what makes you happy.

    I mean, it’s your marksmanship, and its your money, after all.

    • I regularly shoot successfully to 200 yds with mine, both iron sights and with an inexpensive red dot. Not sure the group size (knowing me, my vision, and my impatience, probably not great), but hitting steel silhouettes at those ranges is no problem. The Mini-14 isn’t the disaster a lot of people would have you believe – it’s a fine gun designed for good practical accuracy. I really like it, better, I think, than the ARs I’ve shot when visiting freer states than my own…

      • I was never any good with mine, but it was an early production run, so that may have been a part of it.

        What annoyed me, it *consistently* dented the shoulder of the brass on ejection, and I could never decide if fired brass was safe to reload back then.

        I kinda regret letting mine go, the last three digits of the serial number were 223.

        I might have to get another new one, I’ve heard the accuracy is much better now, and I still have a small mountain of stainless 30-round magazines in storage. It might be fun to have another stainless ranch with that stock, since it appears to be an excellent copy of the original ‘sterile’ GB stock…

        • Yeah, that bent brass thing is characteristic. Mine does it to. I don’t reload (yet), so it only bugs me in an abstract sense.

  11. I think I’ll just leave my Mini-14 alone, it has never failed me, it shoots ,223 and 5.56, it’s accurate at 100 yards.. AND it doesn’t look like one of those scary “killer” black FULLY semi-automatic ASSAULTING things.. Now if I can just figure out how to get it off the bottom of that lake…

      • An EXCELLENT idea, I’ll grab that 650 foot rope out in the shed, go find a 10 pound magnet, buy a new boat and invest in a submersible self powered camera to find that stuff… Should be a piece of cake to retrieve a rifle that I bought used for $150.00 nearly 20 years ago… Suggestion noted and appreciated…

        • You got a deal on that rifle. $150 twenty years ago, was pretty darn good. I paid about a $100 for a Marlin 60 back then, and a Mini-14 is certainly worth more than 1.5 Marlin 60s (and I love Marlin 60s).

  13. I’m going to be honest here but when I saw the picture of that mini-14 the first word that entered my mind was “abomination“. It just looks so bad to me. That’s something you’d expect out of bubbas garage.

Not SCARRY!! with the “black” pistol grip hand thingy and that Euro-looking assault rifle stock that can be adjusted or even folded out of way to make your Mini 14 even more accurate and more deadly in close quarters? And your first thought is “abomination”? Actually mine was ridiculous and senseless….

  14. I want that exact combo! I hope Ruger does a run with the stock so that I don’t have to buy separately.

    I’m already planning the new purchase.

    I’ll leave it just like that, iron sights, sleek and all business. I think it’s the best looking folding stocked firearm.

  18. I just got mine after waiting 6 months. I am really disappointing. The stain color is so light it looks like cheap poplar. All the photos show it looking like a true walnut Ruger color stock. UGLY, NOT WORTH IT EXPENSIVE CRAP.
