Press release:

SAF SAYS FOES OF SELF-DEFENSE SHOULD GIVE UP THEIR GUNS, GUARDS FIRST

BELLEVUE, WA – The Second Amendment Foundation today challenged the nation’s leading opponents of gun ownership to “lead by example” and give up their own firearms and armed security before expecting the citizens, for whom they work, to surrender their ability to defend themselves. “It seems clear from the direction the administration is going that it wants to severely restrict the rights of law-abiding gun owners to purchase the firearms of their choice, “said SAF Executive Vice President Alan Gottlieb, “and we think they should demonstrate their belief in their own programs by giving up their firearms and security first . . .

“That would include Joe Biden’s shotguns,” he added, “and the armed security now enjoyed by Senators Chuck Schumer and Dianne Feinstein, and Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi.

“It would especially apply to President Obama,” he continued, “who just signed legislation giving himself Secret Service protection for life, at the expense of taxpayers he wants to disarm.”

Gottlieb said the same principle should apply to anti-gun celebrities who have bodyguards while supporting legislation that would deprive average citizens from owning firearms for personal protection.

“For example,” he noted, “when I appeared with CNN’s Piers Morgan recently, he asserted that nobody needs an AR-15. The other day near Houston, a Texas teenager used an AR-15 to defend himself and his 12-year-old sister from a home invasion by shooting two burglars. Piers can choke on that.”

Gottlieb believes that public figures have no right to suggest gun bans for private citizens unless they first voluntarily give up their personal security.

“These anti-gun politicians were not elected to positions of royalty,” Gottlieb said. “They are citizens, with no more rights than any other citizen. They were elected to serve the public, not treat the public like serfs. If they want us to put our safety at risk, they should drop the pretense and give up their guns and guards before daring to suggest that anyone else do the same.”

  1. I hear Alan Gottlieb has to have his suits specially tailored to hide his giant brass cojones. Damn, that was great!

  2. Figure it they want not just to ban gun its to control all aspects of life of all citizens and have armed thugs to take out any one who disagrees with the Democratic Nation Socialists. So Obama keeps his guns in his screwed up mind, so you dont.

  3. Read that and I am putting the phone down and sending them some mone right now. May never get heard but it needed to be said loud and often. Stick that in your pipe and smoke it!!!

  4. f yes. This is what i’m talkin about. Make it a commercial; air it during the Super Bowl. ah, if i only had a spare $3.5 million.

    • For as many guns and gun owners as there are in the US, a small donation from each home would be enough to financialy make it happen. Whether the media or NFL would allow it is a different story

  5. Anyone have a link for the Houston story? I’ve been looking for it, but everything I’ve found links back to a story that’s two years old.

  6. I’ll gladly turn in my gun if in return I was given the same amenities that the anti-gun politicians enjoy — armed guards.

It’s the old adage “I carry a gun because I can’t carry a police officer (or security personnel)”.

        • Ok, that’s a deal breaker. Clearly he lacks street cred with the critical bow-tie demographic. 😉

        • Aye, that was lost on me. In my 40 years I’ve worn a standard tie exactly three times because I had to (all weddings with uncompromising brides). I’m an Arizona boy and bola ties suit me just fine. Good Navajo or Zuni turquoise and silver is never out of place. Same goes for collar tips.

Points to Alan for rockin’ the bowtie nonetheless.

      • Just joined. Hard to tell where to best join/contribute out of all the organizations but the SAF must be one of the finest.

        • As I mentioned above I joined SAF but I’ve also supported the NRA through midwayusa’s NRA Roundup about twice a month since they started it in ’92. That way I can give to the NRA without the mountain of mail.

  7. This is why I give to ALL the pro 2a Teams. So far NAGR, SAF, NRA, GOA who am I missing? No, not the Brady Campaign. I’m sure they wear different colors than I.

And I would love to get “Billy” from AmidsTheNoise to join the fray. I think we need to draft this young intelligent man. At the risk of sounding corny, I would say to “Billy” “Sir, your country needs you.”

    • Donate to JPFO as well, you don’t need to be a member of the tribe to join, and they’ve got some solid achievements under their belt also.

    • Awwwww come on now. I’ve rocked that look for 16 years now ever since my hairline challenged me to a showdown and I won by scorched earth. On the other hand I have been called a dickhead once or twice…..

    • Clones, mk31 and mk32 models. You can tell the model revisions apart by slight differences in skin tone and, of course, the model-specific ties.

  8. Sure, just like they do with their health care and salaries right? Lead by example, government. Any other wishes you’d like to throw out there and hope they come true?

  9. POTUS:”Secret Service? Nah, just some friends in case we’re challenged to a pick-up basketball game.”

Sorry, I thought this was the weekend photo caption contest.

  10. Way to go Alan!

I’m proud to be a supporting member of the SAF. I like reading how other gun owners are also using words to describe or compare the attitudes and behaviors of the elites as ‘royalty’ and to observing how the elites look down upon and treat the common American citizen as a ‘serf’.

  11. Okay, now this is the kind of smart reaction to stupidity I can get behind.

The NRA should be funneling all funds to these folks, since they seem to be able to get out a not-playing-in-to-media-fed-preconceived-opinions voice. No more rants from the NRA please.

  12. If Obama visits a school, is it still a gun free zone?

“All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.”

  13. How about a constitutional amendment requiring all elected and appointed federal officials to be subject to every law they pass, with the exception of the Speech and Debate Clause already in the Constitution? And I mean every law.

If the worthies in Washington don’t want to play, then we could get two-thirds of the states to do it. How could they disagree? I mean if Obamacare was such a great idea, surely the politicians would like to live under it to, right?

And if forced helplessness will end evil, then certainly our dear leaders don’t need body guards or guns of their own either.

  14. Lets all turn our guns in at the Whitehorse, or the Supreme Court or the Capital Building.
We can make it the first National Turn IN and Turn OUT Party in our Republic’s history.
It is about time we have a Turn IN and Turn OUT party, the last 100 years has been tough, you know losing all our right and such.
