From the Second Amendment Foundation:

The Second Amendment Foundation today said the recent revelation that the anti-gun rights Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence took a federal Paycheck Protection Loan worth up to $1 million, while working to keep gun stores closed is an “outrageous exploitation of the COVID-19 pandemic to prevent people from exercising their constitutional rights.”

The Brady group reported received between $350,000 and $1 million on April 10. Likewise, the Giffords Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence reportedly accepted a loan worth between $150,000 and $350,000 in April, to meet payroll for 16 employees.

“SAF had to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars from contributors to file lawsuits during the coronavirus shutdowns to keep gun stores open as essential businesses so Americans could exercise their Second Amendment rights,” SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan M. Gottlieb said.

Gottlieb is also chairman of SAF’s sister organization, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, a grassroots political activism organization. That organization also had to raise funds from generous donors to continue its efforts to protect, rather than erode, the rights of American citizens.

“We didn’t take a penny of taxpayer money, nor did we even apply, because that simply would not have been appropriate,” he stated.

“On the other hand,” he added, “the Brady and Gifford groups fought to keep gun stores closed while taking taxpayer funds to stop people from being able to buy firearms and ammunition to protect themselves and their property from violence including rioters, looters and arsonists.”

“More appalling is the fact that, according to their latest tax returns, the Brady and Gifford organizations have several millions of dollars in assets,” Gottlieb noted. “They did not need any taxpayer money to keep their doors open.”

“This is yet another fraud committed by the gun prohibition lobby against the American people,” he said.

The Second Amendment Foundation (www.saf.org) is the nation’s oldest and largest tax-exempt education, research, publishing and legal action group focusing on the Constitutional right and heritage to privately own and possess firearms. Founded in 1974, The Foundation has grown to more than 650,000 members and supporters and conducts many programs designed to better inform the public about the consequences of gun control.

  1. Well if ,I said IF it’s a fraud as this article states, then they should be prosecuted, otherwise it’s not news, it’s disgusting ,but not news if nothing will be done.

    • I’m pretty sure sharing a news story is how people realize it’s a problem. Did you know about this before the article? Because myself and many others did not. I mean, I am not naive to the fact that people are taking advantage of the system, but now I know of a specifically cited corrupt source. That’s news buddy. It’s all biased one way or another. Hell, just commenting is a form of a biased opinion. Clearly, you don’t care enough to put any effort into stopping the continued problem, and that’s your prerogative, which is fine, but why even bother commenting? When keeping it real… goes wrong.

    • It is what’s expected coming from a group of money grubbing gun control zealots whose sleazy gun control agenda is rooted in racism and genocide.
Expect more heads full of mush to be polluted with what is racist and nazi based gun control agenda and run to voting booths to vote democRat.

  2. Thus far, not many people have passed on the “free money,” and some of the first in line were those who didn’t need it. I don’t think anybody is surprised that lobbyists did it, too.

    • Surprise, when getting something for nothing is the question, unscrupulous people are the answer. Not to say that people who genuinely needed the money are unscrupulous; there’s a difference between moral fortitude and moral philosophy, i.e. that refusing handouts and therefore starving to death are a win in the former but not the latter. But when you shout “free money”? Expect the true scum of the earth to be the first ones in line. And, here we are.

    • $1200.00 drops to $1090.00 when you factor in most everything you’ll buy is taxed around 11%. To actually receive $1200.00 you need a check for $1310.00. One hand gives it the other hand takes it away.

  3. I completely agree that it is appalling (even galling). It’s part of ‘falling through the cracks’ in any form of government spending. We certainly have the technology to do things like this properly. Properly as in ‘the math’. Not that any of it was necessarily proper.

In all honesty though, they see people using the stimulus money to buy guns as appalling. Too many pro-2A people have trouble understanding that. It’s twisted and wrong but that’s how they see things.

People ask how they are getting money to afford what they do. This is part of how.

  4. “No man’s life, liberty, or property are safe while the legislature is in session.” ― Gideon J. Tucker”

‘Government is like a baby. An alimentary canal with a big appetite at one end and no sense of responsibility at the other.’ ― R.Reagan

Money is the creation of government, and has no more value than the materials necessary to format it. Thus, government is convinced it gives away nothing, but the populace is grateful for the illusion of wealth and well being.

    • Government like fire is a powerful tool. When “Allowed” to get out of control they will both destroy everything in sight.

      • “Government like fire is a powerful tool. When “Allowed” to get out of control they will both destroy everything in sight.”

Interesting how this country was founded with that in mind.

  5. I think it’s comedy gold the Associated Press actually has the above-shown photo in its files for Giffords Law Center Senior Policy Advisor David Chipman, and makes it available for use. Can you imagine being a figurehead and knowing a very unflattering pic of your contorted face (one that **you** provided to the world, no less, lol) is being circulated to represent you? And that many people will never see any other image of you in their lifetime, resulting your ugly mug being associated in their minds with your name? For eternity?

    Luv it.

Oh hey, Dan…do you have any more What I’m Carrying Now posts lined up? Some of the EDC loadouts are outstanding, some are ridonkulous, but all are fun to read.

    • Yea I wonder how much gear pirate has added… lol. I like the guy in the comment section usually, but damn… like 50 pounds on his lower half. I gave up sharing EDC personally. NEw grey man tactic? You be the judge 😉

      • I enjoyed them. Sent one in 3-5 weeks ago? It was my WICN workout vest: plate carrier with a set of level 3, a set of level 3+ plates, a set of 10 lbs dumbell plates, molle pouch to conceal a velcroed holster and a S&W Shield, spare mag, Critical Defense ammo, and a can of Pepper Gel. About 56 lbs total and uncomfortable AF.

  6. From what I saw, nobody needed or deserved that COVID money. Wal-mart straight up stated they were low on stock of TV’s and a bunch of useless shit. I still have mine. Cashed it even. Sits in the safe with the rest of the dead presidents and metals. I may need to spend $1,000 on TP in October.

    • Mine and the wife’s are waiting for tips to waitresses and such, once we are released from Covid prison so we can go out. I figure increase from current 33% to 50% for a couple years.

      • “Mine and the wife’s are waiting for tips to waitresses and such, once we are released from Covid prison so we can go out. I figure increase from current 33% to 50% for a couple years.”

        Wah!

Wife and I were on government dole for over thirty years. We dint git no Covid money.

        Wah!

  7. IF the brady bunch et all can get loans(NOT GRANTS) how is this even a thing to get all pissy over?!? Seriously get off your high horse and moral superiority complex and get that $ SAF! Dare I say the leftard bunch are smarter than you??? Do y’all think our President hasn’t done this?

    • Because they used our money at below market rates to attack our rights when real businesses suffer. Their benefactors should foot their bills but probably saw gu nsales in March and realized it’s game over right now.

Thats why it’s a pisser they took PPA money. And we’ll see if a Biden admin forgives the loan. Planned parenthood snapped up money and they were open for death all the time.

    • How the hell can they claim to be a small business? Do they produce something? Provide a service? They should go to jail for the claim.

  8. And to think that many a perfectly good topless bar had to shut down while Giffords and the Brady B!tches were suckling on the G’s teats.

  9. It is perfectly in keeping with the Communist belief system these organizations espouse that they should take government money. They don’t believe in freedom and want everyone but illegal aliens to have to ask permission for everything they do. Just wait to see what they are going to propose when we get closer to the election and they use their meat puppet named Biden to tell us what they have in their first Five Year Plan!

  10. Clearly the solution to undeserving people accepting free shit when offered to them is to offer more free shit to more undeserving people. Biden/Token 2020.

  11. I said it before and I’l said it again, any political organization getting their paws on that money should be forced to repay it, with interest and fines. Political Action was not the purpose of those funds and Congress, as in both houses, screwed up in not thinking thru the ways the funds could be abused by the unworthy.

Which for the sake of this topic is any and all political organizations, political action committees, political activists, politicians or their employees.

  12. All anti Rights group are terrorist and should face rope justice…along with the entire Communist Party parading as the Leftist Party!

  13. Biden after 48 years as a political puke that’s been on the dole, he thinks He can finally do something good??? What a fkng joke! He and all his family who bilked all that foreign aid from countries should be in jail or better yet hung! That would minimize all future waste of our tax dollars!

  14. That money is very useful for people who really need it. Living in an era when student loans are very popular and 75 percent of people are just having huge credits and they need to pay back those money. I am a financial expert and there are so many problems with financial literacy in our country that people can’t even just open one website and read about money and how to properly use them, if you will see link to a Fit My Money page you better saved it because it is a source of information that I am trusted the most. Thanks for your article, enjoy it!

  15. More than 50% loans in the USA are not fully repaid. This is how the system works, there is always shortage of money in the market. We need to be careful about our financial decisions, spending on not so necessary things will not help for sure. There are some instant loan apps which I know from this page https://www.bankllist.us/50-loan-instant-app are very helpful during emergency
