The above video was uploaded to YouTube last night. In it, a police officer wanders down the street, pointing his rifle at protesters. At about 30 seconds in, he points the carbine at multiple people and says, “I will f@cking kill you. Get back!” The person recording the video asks the officer for his name. “Go f@ck yourself,” he replies. “It looks like the officer has been removed from duty,” theconcourse.deadspin.com reports. “Today, the ACLU of Missouri sent a letter to the Missouri Highway Patrol calling for the cop to be removed, and now, the ACLU is reporting on Twitter that the deed is done.” Question: what was he doing out there in the crowd on his own, anyway?

IMO removing this officer is not in any way an over reaction he committed a felony by brandishing a rifle and threatening to kill someone. honestly he should be prosecuted to the fullest extent

Seriously, you must be high or joking. Every day 24/7/365 cops point guns at unarmed citizens and threaten to kill them. There’s hours of footage of the brown clowns (in camo, so I guess they’re camo clowns) pointing guns at protesters.

Look at the personnel records in your local town. Maybe this Officer was worried about all the jobs he and his family members stand to loose if we have competently trained Police Officers in a Government with Limited Power.

But when the family tree is a stump, you see what we see in the video above. A “clueless” person in a position of power, not qualified and wrongfully trained using paramilitary tactics that not only bring a defensive air, but incite defensive reactions and start the creation of a atmosphere of fear. That fear will snowball and escalate.
Who is this guy related to that got him the job?
Maybe its time to check all personnel records in Ferguson? Lets see if they hire the most qualified personnel? Or do they hire based on nepotism?
If anyone should decide to do some research into nepotism, make sure to look at other Law Enforcement Agency’s in your area. You may even want to look at where relatives of his work? Often it is a practice in the brotherhood to hire at other Departments and “trade out” in order to avoid policy that prevents nepotism.

Training for the last 10-20 years nationwide has been about “achieving control” of all situations. Which means that they are trained from day one to do anything to achieve this fantasy of “control”. Shotty to the head of a protestor and death threats? That’s policy.

Couldn’t agree more. If I was in a self defense shooting, not in law enforcement capacity, with the exact same situation the rules would change. My name would be realeased that night. I would be told, by the police, that there is little excuse for shooting an unarmed boy. I would not have a 24 hour guard. If there was rioting in the streets I would not be allowed to point a weapon at people and then spin around with no muzzle control like this guy.
The police have, from the beginning, and continue to F this up beyond all possible recongition. With all due respect, it is clear you never served a day in the military. Too often, citizens are too sympathetic with over aggressive cops because their jobs are “dangerous.” Allow me to educate the common man; training, training, and more training. Let us not forget discipline, which is a direct result of training. It is exactly why recruits are broken down as individuals and built back up as a team whether that is Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard, and so on and so on. The police simply fail here. The police are simply not trained or disciplined enough to handle extremely complicated situations. I can recall more than one situation where I was staring an armed threat in the face with a gun pointed at me, and being yelled at in god knows what language and I never once blinked let alone raised my weapon or threatened to kill someone. And these are known terrorist we are talking about, let alone a fellow American. I hope that so called police officer rots in jail for the rest of his life, or better yet, gets caught alone in dark alley by some real American heroes. We shall not accept police brutality or militarization, ever.

The reality is that if you flinch because someone who isn’t even pointing a gun at you is somehow “threatening” you are in the wrong line of work as a cop. In the days before CCW was legal in many places, I’ve accumulated 5 occasions of gun, from pointblank to touching my skull. Still here. Now that we’ve pansified even the cops, they have no idea what the coppers of 50 years ago would have done to them for being such girly-man kitty cats. Guy charges cop with a knife and cop shoots him? My grandfather would have had your head (and career, and likely badge) for that. If you couldn’t deal with a knife attack with a slapjack/springjack and your fighting abilities, you had no business as a copper. (This was in Chicago, back when it actually was violent, not this penny-ante nonsense that’s called a “dangerous city”.)
Your opinion speaks of someone who obviously has no idea how dangerous a knife can be, even in the hands of someone who doesn’t know how to use it properly. I can fight reasonably well and wouldn’t try to disarm a 13 year old with a knife if I had a choice in the matter. It doesn’t take much to cause some pretty horrific injuries.

On occasion, my 12 year old son and I will break out the Crayola markers and play knife fight. In less than 30 seconds we are bleeding green and blue all over our arms, face and torsos. Yes, I said WE. Its a heap of fun, but I always take a look in the mirror while I am washing off the ink just to notice how many fatal jabs the pubescent spawn got in… he’s not half bad. I sleep better at night knowing that, too.

Thanks, I’m quite well aware of how dangerous a knife can be. I’m also even more aware of how much ‘risk inflation’ goes on in the world today – especially with regards to “officer safety”.
I know that cops are no longer trained how to disarm people with knives or clubs. I know that even with two officers on scene, the current training answer is TASE or shoot. Not club and wrestle (which used to be the training).

Reward bad behavior, i.e. paid administrative leave for misconduct followed by a union-controlled hearing resulting in a “reprimand,” like you do with police and, shockingly, you get more bad behavior. Some real accountability for officer misconduct would tighten this mess up real quick.

I think the officer in the vid literally hit his mental breaking point, im not condoning his actions, bit i think these past few days have been incredibly difficult for those officers involved in Ferguson.

Not having the built in instructions that training provides, he’s doing the best he can to maintain control. The overboard anger and aggression have to do with instinctive self preservation. Missouri is not Maine. It has more local police departments than 42 other states. It has more law enforcement employees, at all levels, than 35 other states. It is home to two major U.S. cities, several world renown universities, and multiple Fortune 500 companies. It’s not some semi-modern backwater.
They have the resources, equipment and personnel to handle this. No excuses for this officer or any others who feel stressed, afraid, exhausted or ill prepared.

Police are one of the few organizations that get to hold themselves accountable. It’s no wonder. It’s also no wonder why complaints and incidents of use of force go way down when body cameras are deployed.

I just commented above. You could be incredibly stressed from a divorce, family member dying of cancer, financial ruin, etc. and sleep deprived, and you would go to prison for that behavior. Neither you nor I get a pass for being stressed. Neither does he.
Now, I would be willing to entertain a lighter prison sentence for honest-to-goodness extenuating circumstances — like being stressed about two weeks of rioting and no break from work. That is up to the judge at sentencing.

They really need to let the NG be the face of this. Let them set up check points with a 100 percent ID check, only allow residents of the area access to blocked roads, and just sit there behind some up armored trucks with our without even having loaded weapons. Seriously though, it seems much better to me to have a few firm yet friendly soldiers out front to control road access and act as a buffer between the police and the public. The whole idea is that soldiers would be ironically LESS threatening and well-armed than the police are right now. Not to mention that they might command a little more respect as a third party.
How do I know it works? I’ve been deputized twice to work with local law enforcement in instances not too dissimilar from this one.

(2) How does throwing such items satisfy the criteria for legal use of lethal force?

(b) The criteria for legal use of lethal force is that a reasonable person would be in fear of imminent rape, great bodily harm, or death.
What evidence/proof or urine/feces? Early on authorities set up “chemical showers” for police on scene who had been “doused”. if you haven’t wandered into by accident or been an attendee of one of these Leftist “protests” (riots) you have NO idea of what the participants are capable of or the violent and provocative behavior they engage in regularly. If one hasn’t had the opportunity to see what occurs at these ralleis/protests they have absolutely NO idea of what goes on and is NOT shown by their sympathizers in the Liberal-dominated media who routinely minimize the violence while at the same time demonizing police.
Since I live in the NY/NJ Metro-area and travel into NYC frequently I’ve had firsthand experience with “protests” ie. Amnesty, police shootings, tuition, GOP convention, OWS, and many more. The first one I saw was as a sophomore at Catholic high school in Jersey City (’77-’81), with 3 1/3 hrs free in the middle of the day one day a week I would head into Lower Manhattan and it’s where on occasion I watched intently as professors/teachers directed the actions of college/high school students.
Let me give you an example. In one instance early 2009 (Jan?) I was returning to the #6 Subway/Lexington Ave line at 68th St. Hunter College, the entitled designer clothes wearing, sushi-eating, Starbucks drinking, trendy top-of-the line electronics carrying students were “protesting” tuition hikes across the city, they had seized the multistory administration offices, broken out the windows on the upper floors and were throwing paper and furniture down on the street and sidewalk. Having just had spinal injections earlier that morning I wasn’t moving too fast nor was I aware of the “activities” scheduled for that day city wide, if I had I would’ve rescheduled the procedure.
Wearing a NATO woodland camo jacket and an NYPD 9/11 tribute hat I became a prime target of the “protestors”, a nasally, horn-rimmed glasses wearing, Long Island Jewess professor first instigated then orchestrated the attack upon me, she pointed me out to the crowd just like the last scene in “The Invasion of The Body Snatchers”. I was attacked, shoved, punched, spit upon, tripped, sprayed with a urine/feces concoction and again with bleach from spray bottles and dish detergent bottles then stalked through the crowd as I made my way to the subways entrance.
I was asked repeatedly “who do YOU serve?”. As I approached the scene I had seen this bitch professor taking students aside and personally directing them, they then threw bricks pried off a building at the college’s windows (and they wonder why their tuition is high). An NYPD officer, the ONLY one on the scene, took refuge in his scooter, he raised his hands in futility as if to say “what do you want me to do?” when he saw what was happening to me though wouldn’t leave his vehicle either under orders from gun-grabber Bloom-BOIG or for fear of being attacked as he represented a “symbol of the system”.
Three of the male students, the most profane, antagonistic, and violent, all wearing Che’ Guevera/Marxist-type shirts, one with a beret, the others with checkerboard Muslim scarves followed me down the platform after jumping the turnstile in the below ground station, again right in front of two female NYPD officers who did nothing. It was ONLY when I “stood them down” and offered to “give them a lesson in physics and electricity at the 3rd rail” that they backed off yelling for someone to “call the police” because they had been “threatened”. BTW the entire time the above was going on one young female and a male student each videotaped the incident from the initial encounter on the street down onto the platform and encouraged the attackers.
Now at 6’3′ tall and just under 200lbs (I’m now 51 yrs old) even with the back injury and the spinal injections earlier that morning being a blue-collar worker and former bodybuilder I could’ve easily “handled” my attackers/harassers BUT subjecting oneself to the NYC “justice system” where White males are seen as “evil” and the fact that the perpetrators like in Ferguson would ALL lie to protect their own I figured discretion is the better part of valor but I sure wanted to kick some ass of which I am and was capable of doing quite well.

Nor do most of the folks you seem to oppose. But we are against insane militarized response, and tap-dancing on The Constitution to achieve law and order. Regardless of what anyone thinks, these are American citizens who have the right to assemble and protest until they get out of hand. Then the ‘out of hand’ is neutralized and they get to keep going. No matter how wrong their position may be.
The last I checked no one was being forced into becoming a police officer, they chose that career. If this guy can’t handle an extremely stressful situation then he needs to remove himself from that situation or be removed. There is no excuse for his behavior.

Let me broaden the question a little bit. Are you a government employee, or a hired private contractor for the government, who is enforcing some laws or regulations, providing security, or is otherwise armed as part of the job? This includes police, FBI, DEA, NFA, TSA, any kind of SWAT team regardless of which agency it is attached to (even if it’s EPA or FDA) etc.
No I’m not LE of any type. I’m a “law and order” Conservative, the fact is police have been hamstrung when dealing with this vermin for far too long, since the riots of the 1960’s. It’s one of the reasons I’m leaving NJ and heading south where people respect each other, there’s too much coddling of dysfunctional, illiterate, ghetto-dwelling welfare dependents, thugs, drug addicts/burglars, and violent criminals here in the Northeast.

If the governor would allow police to “take off the gloves” this can be ended quickly. Bring back the firehoses, dogs, nightsticks, REAL ones with lead inside, sap gloves, blackjacks etc. Stop with rubber bullets and beanbags use REAL ones. You might say “Kent State” I say fine, the “protestors” reap what they sow.
From what the video shows removing, terminating and possibly charging the officer with assault would be in order. We CANNOT tolerate such actions. If he was one of my cops he would be gone. That out of control attitude is not acceptable in law enforcement.

The cop is reported to be a St Ann patrol officer. Critical detail. Why? St Ann is a podunk municipality that straddles I70 area around STL airport. It is so small that a significant amount of revenue comes from issuing speeding tix to people going 5 mph over the speed limit. St Ann officers sometimes use a laser and spotter team sitting in a hotel room at one of the local dumpy hotels right off the fwy to pop drivers. They are rude and demeaning and that is their interaction w the public. this is good news b/c there is one less d!ckhead there to pull people over this week on their way to cabelas to buy a new toy
Sounds as if St Ann could be the next hot spot if officer bozo has like minded clowns.
Don’t worry, there’s a boatload more tiny little munis that have tiny police forces to generate revenue – and a place to keep the guys with dirty jackets, or who should be security guards, employed.

I love how we sit here and complain that the antis paint us all with a broad brush when a crazy happens and then we do the same with police across the country (see first half of responses to this article and all others) … Statistically, how many cops are on duty at any time, how many act like this or other assholes we’ve talked about? I am not a cop, but I would not want to live in a country where we had none. Maybe we should start thanking THEM for their service to this country and see if our polite attitude makes them respond in kind?
We differ from antis and Liberals in general because we are able to criticize our own when we F up. We don’t follow a blind ideology regardless of the poor performance of a given policy. Crime fighting is a strong issue with gun owners and Conservatives but we are not going to allow that to trump liberty.
“Not being appreciated enough” isn’t an excuse for this behavior. Yeah, maybe if we just revered them more, they wouldn’t point full autos at us.

Man, that is so wrong in so many ways. That dude should not be a cop. Probably shouldn’t even own a rifle. ….Unless he was willing to destroy what he was pointing at (unarmed protesters in this case, albeit agitating ones) – and he was also aware of this background (more unarmed protesters).
There’s always one in a crowd. I don’t think this can paint all Cops as crazy nutjobs anymore than one crazy violent citizen paints all citizens as crazy violent nutjobs.
But no excuse for that behavior. He should be off the force.
The real question is not “What was he doing out there alone?”, it’s “Why is he on the force in the first place?”

Neither did one of the deputies in Wisconsin that confiscated a firearm from a licensed carrier seeking medical treatment. The deputy unloaded the firearm by pulling the trigger.
