Last week, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo issued an executive order shutting down all non-essential businesses in the state. The order closed the nation’s oldest firearms manufacturing facility, Remington’s plant in Ilion, New York.

Remington Outdoor’s CEO Ken D’Arcy has just released this video offering use of the factory’s 1 million square feet of production space in the fight against the Chinese coronavirus.

        • Hold on now, isn’t all that Jared Kushner’s job? In addition to Middle East Peace and kissing his Father In Law’s butt?

        • “Hold on now, isn’t all that Jared Kushner’s job?”

Hey enuf, IIRC, Broke O’Bummer named Sleepy Creepy Joe Biden as “Cancer Czar” around a decade ago, because he was such a SUPER genius.
Now he can’t remember what day it is, who his wife is, or what position of elected office he’s running for.
We’ve seen what the D’s have had to offer recently, Jared K is friggin Einstein compared to the Dems of the last decade.
Glad to clear that up for you.

Ah James Campbell. The human version of a chipmunk fart in the forest.”
STILL on TTAG with multiple usernames I see, all for the sole purpose of trolling gun owners.
          Such a pathetic existence.
At least you have the weekly salad tosses with your other trollfarm personalities to look forward to. What did you use last Saturday, grape jelly or Maple syrup?
ACTUAL gun owners on the forum might want to know, you pathetic loser.

        • James Campbell says: ” … We’ve seen what the D’s have had to offer … ”
          ———————————

Is this nonsense intended to impress anyone?

Yes, there’s a shit ton wrong with the Democrats.

          Guess what?

There’s a shit ton wrong with the Republicans too!

          Deal with it Einstein.

        • My thought exactly Einstein, was this supposed to impress anyone…..

“Hold on now, isn’t all that Jared Kushner’s job? In addition to Middle East Peace and kissing his Father In Law’s butt?”

Reality check, don’t start that shit on TTAG, won’t be that shit on TTAG.
Don’t “go there”, then get all butthurt when someone responds to your lame statement.

      • If you don’t own a gun by now, you must not need one.

People need ventilators and PPE right now, at this moment.

        • Actually, no they don’t need ventilators right now. I’m not aware of a single shortage of those things anywhere in the US.

The terror is entirely theoretical at this point, yet terrified pensioners are demanding we retool the entire economy under emergency power to produce fancy aquarium pumps, without even stopping to think that we won’t have people to run them, won’t even need them by the time they’re produced, and no one will be able to afford them with the economy destroyed for the duration.

        • “Actually, no they don’t need ventilators right now. I’m not aware of a single shortage of those things anywhere in the US.”

Yet. Look at Italy, now. That’s on the way.

You believe we should wait until their are no available before starting manufacturing that will take a number of months to start shipping?

        • “Yet. Look at Italy, now. That’s on the way.”

Doubtful for at least half a dozen reasons.

Though, I’d point out we do have a big soft spot (pun intended); America is fat. Over 40% obese at this point and obesity is a big risk factor for this.

      • MB, do you have to be a horses ass? I mean really, is it necessary? This company is offering to chip in and contribute. They are tying to help the situation, and you waltz in here, acting like some sort of pompous assclown making snide remarks.

“BuT ReMiNgToN GuNs ArE ShItTy AnD ThE PeOpLe ThAt MaKe ThEm CaN’t Do AnYtHiNg RiGhT.”

That’s how you sound….. literally, you sound like a Elmer fudd looking d*ckhead that refuses to believe in anything other than .45 has more stopping power than a semi truck.

        • @SomeDude with big long name… Compensating? Another troll good at name calling… It’s called humor people.. get a life.

        • I have one, you assclown. How about you stop being a f*cking prick? How about you actually contribute something worthwhile to society, instead of snide remarks about a company that is trying to step up to the plate and help out? As far as I can tell, Remington is at least trying to help with this statement. The people that work for this company are in the same boat as the rest of society. They are just trying to do their jobs, and they are willing to pitch in and make what this country needs. As far as I can tell, you are about as pompous and full of sh*t as from Tim from military arms channel.

        • @SomeDude LOL, there ya go again keyboard warrior in your virtual reality…. Ever fire a Remington whatever? Ever have a gun go click no bang… Didn’t think so. Remington used to make some of the finest firearms in the world, but no longer. Like many mfg’s recently, they rush stuff into production or past QC for the $$$$. Sig learned from their mistakes, but yet to see Remington do same. .I just don’t understand your hostility. This is a discussion forum, where people learn things from each other, not suppose to attack each other. It’s suppose to be entertainment…

  1. Cuomo is to proud to ask for your service, but I thank you and salute you! May God Bless you and all your workers and keep them well.

  2. If I had a wish, it would be for Remington to keep on turning out the Para Ordinance weapons. They bought the company from the Canadians & then made a few 1911’s & Then had a big sale on them & I haven’t seen any since then, I got two 45’s a sub compact & a long slide, really like both of them.

    • Remington had issues with their wideframe/double stack guns feeding properly, eventually ended up selling off their produced inventory at a discount, then stopped production. I’ve always liked the Para/Caspian designed wideframe 1911 idea, it brought the JMBrowning1911 design back into serious handgun competition in the US.
I grabbed a NIB Para 14.45 GI Expert shortly after R purchased Para Ord. Should have grabbed a 14.45 Para Black Ops back then too.
Todays Remington can’t even produce THEIR OWN legacy designs and have them function properly, looking at you R51.
That Remington factory in NY should do ANYTHING but firearms.
      Good for them.

      • Thanks for the info, all my Remington long gun’s , my 308 lever action, & two 1100’s shotguns work great, but they are old Remington’s, very disappointed that they bought out Para & then messed them up…

      • Really….. you’re gonna make a fkn serious stupid comment like that?…. tell one of the few firearms manufacturers left to build anything EXCEPT firearms….. with friends like you, who the fk needs enemies….Piss off wanker…

        • The problem is not Remington, it’s their parent company (Cerberus Group) that has no interest in firearms or the 2nd A.
Cerberus Group will bleed R dry, then sell off.

    • Yup, my 1911 is a Para USA Expert in stainless. I do not care that much for stainless but this was a Thanksgiving Black Friday deal for $299. First time I went out on a Black Friday morning rush in many years. Nabbed the last one too!

Very pleased with my PARA 1911. Has had no difficulty with any ammo I have fed it. A very enjoyable shooter. Nothing fancy about it, just reliable and bang on target!

Remington ought to take notes and hey maybe put PARA back together as a company, with it’s last leadership running it!

  3. But how will we deal with the “social stigma” of having used products to fight this disease that came from a maker of firearms?

  4. The idea of GM/ford/tesla/remington/whoever making parts off the beaten path is very interesting. Certainly not something I thought I’d see in my lifetime short of going toe to to with China in military conflict.

    • Yeah, it’s cool an all. But if I’m unlucky enough to need a respirator, I hope I’m coherent enough to check the manufacturer’s sticker. Not sure I would want to rely on a Boeing product to keep my lungs pumping.

      • Defens,

Boeing products seem to work just fine as long as they stay on the ground. LOL!!

Actually, I have put a lot of miles on the board for business travel. Many flights on Boeing aircraft. I do not recall falling out of the sky, even once.

That being said, their recent mis-management seems criminal.

    • “The idea of GM/ford/tesla/remington/whoever making parts off the beaten path is very interesting.”

The Singer sewing machine company and the Rock-Ola jukebox company made M-1s in WWII…

  5. From barrel straighteners to respirators. CorLoct The Deadliest Mushroom In The Woods. Hopefully they can get back to making gunms

  6. .. maybe if you had moved the plant out of the Peoples Republic of New York…

you would still be making firearms…

    • Maybe the plan is to turn the factory into a hospital, donate it to the state, take the tax right-off, and move to a gun friendly locale. That would be my plan.

    • edit
Every national emergency should have an automatic 6 months expiration date. A 30 day expiration date would be even better.

  7. Good. That said, for those who think it’s going to be business as usual in a few weeks when it comes to the hobby and industry of firearms… it won’t be.

    • The refusal of people to believe that blows my mind. The cops will soon be too sick to work, and the prisons will be emptied out onto the streets.

Shit’s about to start getting very entertaining in maybe 3 week’s time…

  8. Meanwhile, a man was using his guns to take on the police department in Arizona. Apparently, he doesn’t know how to lock down in his home, he only knows how to lock down cops behind their cars.

    https://www.liveleak.com/view?t=d7IN_1585080089

Of course the news is going to pay attention to the invisible enemy because it’s more important. Why would anyone need a gun or a license to carry one right about now? It’s not like people are going to lose their shit then start an hour long shooting with their rifle and fire over a hundred rounds as they run around town.

    • So, because some nut job goes off the deep end, we should all have our firearms confiscated? By the way, Mr. Zackery Rhodes has a rather long criminal history; so not exactly some poor layed-off worker who is having a mental breakdown from cabin fever.
“Why would anyone need a gun or a license to carry one right about now?” Not sure what you mean by that question, but one does not need any license to either own or carry a firearm in Arizona.

    • Arizona is a constitutional carry state.

As a felon, this guy was already prohibited from owning a gun or even touching a gun. No laws would have prevented him from doing so, as all laws do is provide the framework to prosecute and convict. As a felon with criminal intent, he had unrestricted ability to obtain any firearm he wanted regardless of laws or background checks.

In this case I would suspect a felon on meth or other illegal drug. Moving down the street shooting rounds off at cops?Unconnected to any other crime such as a robbery or home invasion? Sounds like he was on something and acting out his criminal tendancies.

NOT REPRESENTATIVE OF THE COMMON LAW ABIDING GUN OWNERS OF THE USA!!!!!!

      • You would think the media would report about the hour long shooting done with an AR-15. Nope. Too busy scaring people with the invisible enemy. The virus will give them much more power…

  9. Considering remingtons failure at almost every level, not to mention their QC, do we really want them making life saving equipment?

  10. For the record, Remington lost its autonomy when it was acquired by Cerberus Group.
    So the title SHOULD read……
“Cerberus Group Offers Its Remington Ilion, New York Plant for the Fight Against COVID19.”
It’s really not that big a deal, Cerberus Group is a hardcore anti 2nd A corporate raider. They only purchased Remington to milk it dry, fire the employees, then sell off whatever assets are left to the highest bidders.
Most of the other Cerberus Group “purchases” have sent all production overseas, fired U.S. employees, then sold off the assets.
Sometimes even abandoning real estate, because property values tanked after the production facility closed.
