Last week, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo issued an executive order shutting down all non-essential businesses in the state. The order closed the nation’s oldest firearms manufacturing facility, Remington’s plant in Ilion, New York.
Remington Outdoor’s CEO Ken D’Arcy has just released this video offering use of the factory’s 1 million square feet of production space in the fight against the Chinese coronavirus.
They could offer it up to make guns for people who need them!

If I had a wish, it would be for Remington to keep on turning out the Para Ordinance weapons. They bought the company from the Canadians & then made a few 1911’s & Then had a big sale on them & I haven’t seen any since then, I got two 45’s a sub compact & a long slide, really like both of them.
Remington had issues with their wideframe/double stack guns feeding properly, eventually ended up selling off their produced inventory at a discount, then stopped production. I’ve always liked the Para/Caspian designed wideframe 1911 idea, it brought the JMBrowning1911 design back into serious handgun competition in the US.
I grabbed a NIB Para 14.45 GI Expert shortly after R purchased Para Ord. Should have grabbed a 14.45 Para Black Ops back then too.
Todays Remington can’t even produce THEIR OWN legacy designs and have them function properly, looking at you R51.
That Remington factory in NY should do ANYTHING but firearms.

Yup, my 1911 is a Para USA Expert in stainless. I do not care that much for stainless but this was a Thanksgiving Black Friday deal for $299. First time I went out on a Black Friday morning rush in many years. Nabbed the last one too!
Very pleased with my PARA 1911. Has had no difficulty with any ammo I have fed it. A very enjoyable shooter. Nothing fancy about it, just reliable and bang on target!
Remington ought to take notes and hey maybe put PARA back together as a company, with it’s last leadership running it!
But how will we deal with the “social stigma” of having used products to fight this disease that came from a maker of firearms?

Actually, I have put a lot of miles on the board for business travel. Many flights on Boeing aircraft. I do not recall falling out of the sky, even once.

As a felon, this guy was already prohibited from owning a gun or even touching a gun. No laws would have prevented him from doing so, as all laws do is provide the framework to prosecute and convict. As a felon with criminal intent, he had unrestricted ability to obtain any firearm he wanted regardless of laws or background checks.

It’s really not that big a deal, Cerberus Group is a hardcore anti 2nd A corporate raider. They only purchased Remington to milk it dry, fire the employees, then sell off whatever assets are left to the highest bidders.
Most of the other Cerberus Group “purchases” have sent all production overseas, fired U.S. employees, then sold off the assets.
Sometimes even abandoning real estate, because property values tanked after the production facility closed.
