Troy Ave in 2012 tweeted about his fears of being busted with a weapon,” nypost.com reports. “Man i jus had a Nightmare that I got arrested with a gun, i was mad upset.” He also wrote, “man i’d rather accidentally get a bitch pregnant than catch a gun charge.” I guess there a “bitch” somewhere who remain unimpregnated by Mr. Ave, given that he’s been arrested on a gun charge . . .

Dramatic video released by the NYPD on Thursday shows a rapper with a bloody bullet wound opening fire inside Irving Plaza before a T.I. concert, amid terrifying chaos in the backstage area.

The gunman, Troy Ave (above), emerged from the VIP green room right behind his close pal and bodyguard Ronald McPhatter, who in the video collapses to the ground with a fatal gunshot to the chest.

Troy Ave, who’s real name is Roland Collins, then fires at least two shots as concertgoers duck for cover in the 10 p.m. mayhem before the video cuts off.

Now hang on a moment. It is possible if not probable that Mr. Ave acted in self-defense (the rapper has an “extensive” rap sheet), after being shot in the leg in the club’s [unvideoed] green room. Innocent until proven guilty?

That said, I don’t think Mr. Ave (real name Roland Collins) had a valid New York City gun permit. That said, neither he nor any other NYC resident should have to have one. Just sayin’ . . .

  1. I like how these sheep here are ignoring the fact that the only reason this incident made the news was because the gun was traced from out of the state and came from the war-torn “gun friendly” states.

New york is ironically one of the safest cities in america.

    • Glad it’s so safe. Of course, since the NY SAFE Act past, the murder rate has remained the same, the assault rate has remained the same, and the rape rate has almost doubled. Oh, but maybe that was you were looking for. Are you anti-gun, or just pro-rape?

    • Run away, quick before anyone can show you evidence that you are laughably wrong.

That how you factually bankrupt, emotional types work, isn’t it? Doing a little comment-section drive by, eh?

  2. Had to watch this video 19 times to make it fit the story line. The problem is, so much of the beginning has been cut. The bodyguard collapsing happens at the very start so it is easy to miss. Two other guys come out with Ave but not armed. Hmm? Looks like self defense except for the fact that they are chasing the original shooter. I have no problem with this but NY might frown upon a gun fight justified or not. Would have been nice to see the whole video.

  3. Maybe it was his bodyguard’s gun? The guy who dropped in the beginning of the clip was not apparently armed.

  4. “man i’d rather accidentally get a bitch pregnant than catch a gun charge.”

What a horrible, ugly person. Thankfully I have no idea who this is, I take it this is some successful pseudo-musician? Assuming I am right, people buy enough of this guys “rap” to make him successful?

Am I missing something, is this some kind of parody of the hippity culture that caught on or something like that? I just can’t believe some of the crap being done in the name of rap and it being called ‘music’.

    Disgusting.

    From Orwells 1984;

“The new tune which was to be the theme-song of Hate Week (the Hate Song, it was called) had already been composed and was being endlessly plugged on the telescreens. It had a savage, barking rhythm which could not exactly be called music, but resembled the beating of a drum. Roared out by hundreds of voices to the tramp of marching feet, it was terrifying. The proles had taken a fancy to it, and in the midnight streets it competed with the still-popular ‘It was only a hopeless fancy’. The Parsons children played it at all hours of the night and day, unbearably, on a comb and a piece of toilet paper.”

  5. Troy Avenue is a street in Brooklyn that runs through several neighborhoods, including the Crown Heights area from whence this rap “star” hails.

I guess that he doesn’t want to “accidentally get a bitch pregnant” because it runs in his family.

  6. To paraphrase intrepid liberal Democrat media icon Katie Couric, if we don’t have universal background checks, how do we keep guns out of the hands of rappers?

    • We need a UBC to keep rappers from knocking up bitches. We need a federal registry of bitches that would let a rapper knock them up.

  7. I’m really hoping the official story that he was the only shooter is true, given this tweet:

“U shouldnt Carry A Gun If u are scared 2 Use It. You’ll only end up hurting yourself or a Innocent Person Real Talk”
