“The Uber driver authorities say fatally shot six people during a series of seemingly random attacks over the weekend was charged with murder Monday as questions swirled around the bloody rampage,” washingtonpost.com reports. “Investigators continue to look for a motive in the shooting, but so far detectives have not found any explanation.” Oh but everyone sure wishes they could! Because this type of crime . . .

strikes fear into the hearts of Americans everywhere. A completely random attack by the proverbial “nice neighbor” next door.

If the shootings could be explained by mental illness — say Mr. Dalton had a history of psychiatric trouble — people could think, well, someone could have done something before he went ballistic. Regrettable, but ultimately forgettable. Then again . . .

The Aurora theater killer was clearly, dangerously crazy. No one in authority who knew about his “issues” did a damn thing to stop him. Same for the Virgina Tech killer. And the Sandy Hook murderer. And Gabby Giffords’ shooter. For some reason, the public didn’t blame any of the people who failed in their obligation to protect innocent life in these mass shootings.

In this case as in so many others, people will either blame the killer — for good reason — or guns –because they want to “do something” to prevent another attack.  “Keeping guns out of the hands of dangerous people” seems to make sense. In reality, there’s little anyone can do to prevent a violent attack. Except, of course, defend themselves. And all too often, not even that.

One city official called the rampage “unexplainable.” A county official described it as “bizarre,” a sentiment echoed by Jessica Borden, who stood behind the counter of a rural convenience store not far from the accused gunman’s home and where he had been a regular.

Then Borden sighed and added: “But maybe it’s not so much of a surprise the way the world is nowadays.”

How is the world nowadays? Is it more violent than it used to be? Hardly. But that’s the story that the enemies of firearms freedom like to tell. Because they can argue that “easy access to guns” is the reason for this [non-existent] upswing in murder. I mean, Mr. Dalton had 11 rifles! Eleven! Who needs 11 rifles?

On a recent trip to my home state of Rhode Island, I heard people on talk radio wishing for the good old days, when the mob controlled the state. “You could walk down the streets at night without worrying about being attacked,” a caller claimed. True. Provided you were white and we’re talking about mob-controlled neighborhoods.

Neighborhoods where businesses struggled under the weight of extortion, living in fear of what would happen if they didn’t pay. Neighborhoods where mobsters beat up random strangers and raped young boys and girls with complete impunity. Neighborhoods where mobsters siphoned millions from union funds, a racket protected by bought-and-paid-for politicians.

A racket that forced the cost of labor so high entire industries fled to more business-friendly climes. To the point where jobs disappeared, unemployment skyrocketed and the state’s economy rolled over and died. Leaving old people longing for the days when their state was productive, rather than looking at the economic devastation wrought by mob-fueled corruption.

My point: while surely terrible, there are worse things than mass shooters, and many of these worse things are made worse by a disarmed populace. No one could stand up to the mob because no one other than “connected” people could legally carry a gun. No one could stand up to the mob because the only people who carried guns were criminals or cops (although there was little distinction between the two).

So when President Obama and his statist toadies prescribe more gun control in their effort to stop mass shootings, they’re using one evil — and that’s what it is, regardless of the killer’s motivation — to enable an even greater one. A disarmed society where the innocent are easy prey for men without morals. That’s how the world is nowadays. That’s how it’s always been.

  1. That is beautifully written. “Brevity is the soul of wit…..” Let’s all recognize man’s tendencies to violence, greed, corruption etc., and read a hell of a lot more history. Things have never been better for a greater number of people than right now. Not perfect; just better by any number of benchmarks. IMHO.

    • In some part, this is due to the utter failure of our education system. Most people, let alone kids, have no idea how horrible and death-filled the “good old days” really were.

We are living the halcyon days right now. How much longer they can last is the only question. The Euros have given themselves over to Muslim invasion, they have 30-ish years left maybe less (unless a terrible ethnic cleansing takes place, and I don’t think they have it in them anymore). We have given the world we used to be directing to the ChiComs. The greed of our corporations has given them our manufacturing, and sealed our fate. The Chinese have out played us at every turn – they require “partnerships” for every single foreign business in China and they steal your IP. The rest of your IP is stolen through the army of hackers their government employs to attack business everywhere else. You just can’t compete against a country where the average worker earns under $5K per year (not to mention 19th century working conditions).

We might have 50 years left as a recognizable country, and that’s really a stretch. Our spending has been of the rails for 40 years, the unfunded long-term obligations are un-meetable, and they aren’t far off anymore. Provided of course that the don’t blow the planet up first, the oceans are quickly being emptied, and the planet can’t support another billion people living a first world life. Thankfully, invasion is unlikely, and maybe we start over again.

      • Reminds me of an otherwise forgettable made-for-TV science fiction time travel story. I forget the reason for the trip, but a small group of people, including an historical specialist, went back to the European middle ages. Upon arrival the historian said to the others that they needed to be very careful not to lose the devices that would take them home and not to get killed because this was a very dangerous place to be. Quote: “The only thing worse than getting killed here is to be forced to live here.”

    • The old Clint Smith quote is not generally used in this context, but still might apply: “”Beware the man who only has one gun. He probably knows how to use it!”

      • Love that quote. At least partly because it gets me off the hook for being too lazy to go to where I can practice anything longer range than a handgun….. 🙂

On the other hand, Clint Smith probably has 100 guns, and sure knows how to use every one of them. So, in his particular case, “Beware of the man who can turn a single shot, break open shotgun; into a reasonable facsimile for a select fire weapon system” may be more relevant.

    • Personally, I don’t think it is beyond the realm of possibility that this man and others who are involved in real mass shootings (opposed to government false flag operations) are given grievous ultimatums which could involve forcing them to do an unthinkable act like this. We live in a corrupt world, in which I think certain opponents to the 2nd Amendment are thugs capable of doing anything to usher in gun control and take away our guns. Including, murder and extortion. Would it be beyond the reach of imagination therefore, to believe that someone could have told this guy or some others…”Either kill so many random people or we will kill every member of your family or kidnap your grandchild and sell them into the sex trade to be drugged, raped and well, things too awful to comprehend”… What if they were holding a family member hostage until he did their bidding?

I thought that it was odd that he seemed to be driving around looking for potential victims and selected the table with all older ladies, maybe because he thought they had lived pretty long lives and if he HAD to kill people, he found a group were older. He could have had instructions to kill at least one young person, or had specific instructions.
None of that may be true and the guy could just be nuts, but I thought he seemed oddly resigned to his fate when he was arraigned. Either way, it is a horrible situation, but he could just as easily have decided to drive his car into a crowd of people, like the woman in Las Vegas did…. but she used a car and cars kill people, so let’s get rid of cars!

    • Mr. President: BOTTOM LINE: CARS KILL PEOPLE! LET’S GET RID OF CARS!
People should have to pass background checks to operate vehicles.
People should have to undergo psychological checks to operate vehicles.
People should NOT be able to buy cars at car shows, but only through regulated sellers who MAKE sure they pass their checks first.
People should not be allowed to sell their personal cars to others, since they have no way of knowing if the buyer will use the car to kill someone.

According to ASSIRT Association for Safe International Traffic:
      Annual Global Road Crash Statistics
◾Nearly 1.3 million people die in road crashes each year, on average 3,287 deaths a day.
◾An additional 20-50 million are injured or disabled.

Annual United States Road Crash Statistics
◾Over 37,000 people die in road crashes each year
◾An additional 2.35 million are injured or disabled
◾Over 1,600 children under 15 years of age die each year
◾Nearly 8,000 people are killed in crashes involving drivers ages 16-20
◾Road crashes cost the U.S. $230.6 billion per year, or an average of $820 per person
◾Road crashes are the single greatest annual cause of death of healthy U.S. citizens traveling abroad

  2. We are seeing our nation slowly and steadily unravel because of a slow and steady decline in Judeo-Christian values. Regardless of whether or not you like it, the fact of the matter is that the following is NON-EXISTENT in people who embrace and live Judeo-Christian values:
    — murder
    — robbery
    — aggravated assault
    — corruption
    — slander
    — abuse
    — neglect
    — injustice
    — extreme selfishness

The more you remove God from the equation, the more murder, thievery, violence, corruption, slander, abuse, neglect, selfishness, and injustice you will see. And the answer is simple: without a transcendent God, we have no reason to refrain from all of those things.

Looking at it from another angle, we have all heard the saying, “You cannot legislate morality”. We are beginning to see the truth in that statement.

    • I agree with you 100%. Laws can only regulate so much, and punish after the fact. Only an internal morality in the person can restrain that person from evil action. And only God can provide that transcendent, unchanging moral basis.

    • No one who claims to be a Jew or Christian has ever committed a violent crime? My bullshit meter just blew up.

      No true Scotsman in 3….2…..1…..

      • That’s not what he wrote. Specifically used ‘live’. Disagree if you like, I happen to whole-heartedly agree with his premise. Also, anyone can ‘claim’ to be anything, but that doesn’t make it so.

        • Big E beat me to it. That is exactly why I included the key word “live”.

And yes, millions of people in our nation have actually lived out Judeo-Christian values and successfully refrained, their entire life, from doing all of those things that destroy our nation.

        • Vhyrus,

Which of these Judeo-Christian values are detrimental to society:
          — do not murder
          — do not steal
          — do not slander people
          — respect your mother and father
          — do not obsesses over your neighbor’s stuff
          — do not entertain lustful fantasies about your neighbors
          — do good work
          — have at least a single day a week for rest from work
          — look out for the safety and well being of other people
          — take care of widows and orphans
          — be charitable
          — do not show favoritism
          — forgive people when they ask for your forgiveness
          — compensate someone if you damage their property

Let me guess, you don’t like these parts of Judeo-Christian values:
          — do not to have sex outside of marriage
          — marriage is between one man and one woman
          — do not abort babies

While you may not like those mandates, I can assure you that observing those mandates does NOT destroy society nor contribute to people running around raping, pillaging, and plundering.

      • He said “embrace and live,” in which case he’s absolutely correct.

Problem is, out of billions of members the various Christian churches have an awful lot of ChINOs.

      • Vhyrus,

Clarification: people who embrace and live Judeo-Christian values have occasionally done something very wrong/harmful. What you will find is that such seriously wrong/harmful actions are exceedingly rare … orders of magnitude less frequent than populations who reject God.

    • The people who founded this country understand that not everything could be solved with a law and relied on religion to help be a moral compass to help provent all those issues you listed. You cannot legislate all behavior or poor morality.

      • Prisons are full of “true believers” just like it’s full of “innocent men.”

Faith is not an inoculation against stupidity, cruelty or weakness of spirit. Bad choices come from all manner of men, from the faithful to the faithless.

There are plenty of Athiests out there, myself included, who standby the 2nd amendment, the constitution, and have never hurt anyone, nor plan to. There are plenty of deeply religious folks who can claim the same.

The humorous saying “guns cause crime and murders? Mine must be defective” applies here.

Faith neither causes, nor cures evil. It’s merely a pathway to a personal relationship with your God. It’s what you do with it, that matters most. Guns don’t cause murders, people do.

Your choices. Not your faith. Not your guns.

Just my opinion on the matter.

    • I think that the decline of religion in homes has removed the base that often forms some people morals. Some people are inherently moral, some people are moral because of the laws of man, and some people are moral because of the teachings of the various religions.

People that grow up a home without moral guidance from the parents, or discipline, or no learned morality from a religion, are dangerous people. They “justify” their behaviors, and all it takes is the temporary removal of consequences (think rioters), for them to run amok.

I’m not a religious person, but one can see where religion is useful in defining a base behavior set for the sheeple masses; think of it as base programming. To be clear I’m not AT ALL implying religious people are sheeple for believing, I’m trying to make a point that, people that one would identify as a sheeple, need something to keep them in line.

      • Bob
Your reply is spot-on, in my opinion. The statement you made here is correct in my viewpoint. The other factor is the loss of the complete family values. One parent families and kids without a strong family structure often end up on the wrong side of the tracks, so to speak. The two parent system seems to provide much more guidance, the ability to separate right from wrong in daily life, and to make the correct choices. Discipline with love and attention to the child’s needs are so crucial. Religion is a part of this by providing a framework.

      • “People that grow up a home without moral guidance from the parents, or discipline, or no learned morality from a religion, are dangerous people. They “justify” their behaviors, and all it takes is the temporary removal of consequences (think rioters), for them to run amok.”

Ethan Couch is the poster boy for this part.

    • For a (non-exclusive) sample, let’s take Catholic priests and bishops:

      — murder
      — robbery
      X_child rape
      X_ pedophilia
      X_ aggravated assault
      X_ corruption
      X_ slander
      X_ abuse
      X_ neglect
      X_ injustice
      X_ extreme selfishness

      • _A_, or a few, catholic bishop(s) and priest(s). Out of a million or more since the Church’s founding.

Not really trying to defend the Church. Any organization who has, and/or seeks, political power, is expendable and net negative. But while the Church still has/does some of that, it does so to such a tiny degree compared to organized other things, governments in particular, that it is by now pretty darned benign. And besides, the soul, hence future, of the Catholic Church seems to have left Rome for less secularized and compromised environs anyway. I’m sure it will return one day, but for now, Rome is really more pomp than practice.

    • Great in theory, but doesn’t jibe very well with the fact that violent crime is at a 40-year low, while the number of people who label themselves “Christian” has been declining pretty steadily over that time period. If you’re correct, shouldn’t we be seeing a correseponding increase in crime as church attendance drops off?

      • I believe we are seeing a significant increase in “soft” crime, especially theft and corruption which are basically two different ways of saying the same thing. In some cases that theft is outright (stealing something from your neighbor). In many other cases theft is less obvious. One example is not actually working for your job while on the company clock. Next we have the myriad unjust “fees”, penalties, and “taxes” that we all face. And how many politicians and company executives are squeaky clean rather than being on the take?

        • You believe there is an increase in those sorts of crimes, or you have actual evidence that such an increase exists and correlates with the decline in religious faith? Because one of those two things would have value in supporting your point, and the other is just making stuff up.

    • The Japanese seem to be pretty civil without a belief in a god, no? Not sure that you will be able to present much compelling evidence that atheists are less ethical than theists (Judaeo Christian or otherwise).

    • Judeo-Christian values build hospitals and schools all over the world. Atheist vales build — uh, say, what do atheist values build?

      • That is a pile of slop.

        #1 Values can’t build anything.
#2 Charity predates Judaism and exists without it.
#3 Atheism is not a set of values.

        • Judeo-Christianity is merely an evolution of Mazdaism, which predates Judaism by a few thousand years.

That humans survived for the 200,000+ years preceding the arrival of “religion” proves without a shadow of a doubt that “morality” is a function of evolution and survival.

We take care of our own, be nice, don’t kill unless we have to (if for no other reason than reprisal), don’t mess with OPP for the same reason, don’t steal, and all the rest, We would not have made it 10K years were we NOT hardwired to have those basic human values. Let alone 100K, or 200K.

Interestingly, they’re the exact values that are found in places still not exposed to Christianity, and they existed well before there was even the possibility of Christians showing up. Like milllenia.

      • #4 You have it backwards, Judaeo Christians who do good things do so because they are moral not because they are Judaeo Christian. You certainly do employ the “no true Scotsman” tactic to selectively choose your believers.

      • What do atheists build? I dunno, how about everything else?

Atheists pay taxes and build roads, schools, hospitals, water treatment, airports, national defense, and the rest of it, via our tax money for the public good. Just like people of ‘faith’. To be used by all, without caring if they believe in ‘whatever’.

Difference being we do it by actually paying our effen taxes. Religions are subsidized. No income, or property taxes unlike the rest of us. Of course they have extra bucks for a vanity project, they aren’t actually contributing 40% of their income like we do.

        That’s what the atheists build.

        • So, what you are saying, is that atheists build governments? And are proud of it, to boot? Kind of matches my experience as well, come to think of it.

One of the most important, though often neglected values of the world religions, is the common moral/legal framework they provide. Vetted through 1000+ years. This allows followers the ability to play by certain commonly accepted rules, and trust others to do the same, without reliance on a government. And anything that encourages less reliance on government, is a positive. THE positive, actually.

        • They sure do build governments, you’re living under one they built and I’m still sorta proud of it – compared and contrasted to the rest of the options anyway.

Religions and their “moral frameworks”? So killing gays, unbelievers, apostates, those who believe differently, witches, fortune tellers, those who disobey their parents are all somehow “moral”? That’s a big part of the Torah/OT and the vengeful god of the Jews. Perhaps you should venture a read someday.

As Hitchens has said a bit more elegantly than I…

“Let’s say that the consensus is that our species, being the higher primates, Homo Sapiens, has been on the planet for at least 100,000 years, maybe more. Francis Collins says maybe 100,000. Richard Dawkins thinks maybe a quarter-of-a-million. I’ll take 100,000. In order to be a Christian, you have to believe that for 98,000 years, our species suffered and died, most of its children dying in childbirth, most other people having a life expectancy of about 25 years, dying of their teeth. Famine, struggle, bitterness, war, suffering, misery, all of that for 98,000 years.

Heaven watches this with complete indifference. And then 2000 years ago, thinks ‘That’s enough of that. It’s time to intervene,’ and the best way to do this would be by condemning someone to a human sacrifice somewhere in the less literate parts of the Middle East. Don’t lets appeal to the Chinese, for example, where people can read and study evidence and have a civilization. Let’s go to the desert and have another revelation there. This is nonsense. It can’t be believed by a thinking person.”

All the Abrahamics are merely rewrites of Mazdaism to suit the needs of some group or (in the case of Islam) one very horny warlord.

    • Utter RUBBISH. Countless people kill in the name of god and are religious and believe in god. The mafia, cults, etc. Are you retarded? Have you forgotten history? Holy wars? The crusades? Christians are just as guilty as Muslims for being assholes. I can’t stand either of them. Wake the fuck up. Religion is the worst thing that happened to mankind and is the root of almost all conflicts. If religion didn’t exist the world would be a much better place. Go ahead and believe in your god, who does nothing when the world is crumbling around him.

      • Ahem…

Insinuating that religion is to blame for the poor choices of others, is exactly like saying that the NRA are domestic terrorists, or that gun owners are contributing to violence merely by possession of a firearm.

Religion, like a gun, is a tool. Nothing more. Both can be easily abused. Blaming God or the various religions built around his feet for the problems we face is absurd.

I too am an Athiest. But I hope that those reading this are of sound mind not to do what you are doing here; placing blame against all for the crimes of the few.

      • Mark, I would disagree that the Crusades were anything but a reaction to Muslim invasion. That they happened under the color of religion, is rather irrelevant. They were ultimately protecting Western Civilization from being eliminated by 8th century primitives.

That said, I agree with the rest.

  3. The world today has two problems:

    1) A 24/7 news cycle desperate for rating which will pump stories like this until the next news worthy cycle that will give them better ratings

    2) This stupid notion that “something must be done” or that something can be done. This is a case of “sometimes sh!t happens” Not everything needs to be nor can be explained in a neat talking point. Not every problem needs a new law. I am still waiting for the ban on box cutters since it was the weapon of choice of the 911 hijackers.

I, like many people, have a fire extinguisher in the house as well as smoke detectors and a CO detector. None of those items even gets touched unless the extinguisher has to be replaced or I replace the batteries in the alarms. But, if sh!t happens, you are happy to know they are available. I see firearms in the same way.

I am getting old and have had guns since I was 14yrs old and never had to use one in a defensive manner. Anything destroyed has been paper or something that would be food on the table. BUT, should sh!t happen I like many around here, will be happy to know their firearm is nearby.

My hope is that events like this make that point crystal clear, but there seems to be a lot of mental resistance to yet be overcome.

However, I also realize if someone is just shooting out of car at random targets, you might not get a chance to shoot back either. Sometimes “sh!t” happens and there is nothing you can do.

  4. “Keeping guns out of the hands of dangerous people” seems to make sense.

Makes sense until it comes down to who gets to decide who is dangerous. Then it breaks down miserably.

And the reason the Uber driver was allowed to shoot 6 people is because nobody shot back.

  5. Meh. Chaos is chaos and will always be with us. No reason or justification matters as even if there were any to be had everyone would ignore it anyway.
Like why does the MSM keep bringing up Uber? Like it has any bearing whatsoever? He could have been out and about doing literally anything at all while multitasking in murder but you can’t find a report that doesnt highlight Uber like it is somehow culpable.

The best yet is this morning ABC News reported the man bought a “tactical jacket” the day before. Oh shit! A “tactical jacket”!! Outlaw those summabitches now!!!! Whatever they are.

There are better things to do than search for meaning where their either is none or any to be found makes no difference. Like eating bacon cheeseburgers or playing with your dog. Because, you know, that chaos thing that isn’t going anywhere might interrupt your good times. Or not.

  6. The first question to ask in a case like this is whether or not the alleged perp was an SSRI drug user. Drugs like “Zoloft” et al produce violent behavior in a small percentage of users. The statistics are overwhelming. Yet the media *never* asks the question: was the perp an SSRI drug user?

Check out ssristories.org for a massive compilation of violent crimes tied to SSRI use.

    • People with mental issues, from severe to fairly mild, take SSRIs, which seem to help millions. It’s certainly conceivable that SSRIs are as over-prescribed as any other drug, and that certain individuals will suffer adverse consequences from taking them. But trying to blame all the violence on SSRIs is as backwards as claiming that broken legs cause skiing.

      • Gordon was not trying to blame all violence on SSRI’s, and it would be foolish to not inquire about whether the Uber perp was taking some kind or combination of psychiatric drugs. Reduced affectation (numbed feelings), violent ideation and behavior, and psychotic behavior are well-documented possible side effects of a variety of psychiatric meds and sleeping medications. Here is a book on the subject written by a psychiatrist who as researched these side effects extensively: http://www.amazon.com/Medication-Madness-Psychiatric-Violence-Suicide/dp/031256550X?tag=duckduckgo-d-20

      • Ralph, I don’t think he is tying all crazy spree killers with SSRIs, merely pointing out that it is an expected, predicted, and ‘normal’ side-effect in a number (albeit very small) number of patients.

I’ve brought this up in many of the serial/spree killer scenarios – what were the meds? Because, it’s often the case they were on them.

  7. We live in a concrete jungle, fight or die is ultimately the number one law.
The fact that we coexist 99.5 % of the time is due to our laws and moral compasses.
We all know we could return to the Lord of the flies if the right circumstances take place.
So people murdering randomly isn’t out of the norm?
We’ve experienced this since history began, certainly nobody wants this to occur but it isn’t so far out of human behavior to be absolutely a holes to one another on occasion.
That been said, i do pray for the families of the dead and us as human beings altogether on this rock in space.
And i firmly believe that an armed society is a polite society.
And robert, I’m also from Rhode Island….Newport.

  8. Hmmm…my take on Mr. Kalamazoo is a 45 year old schlub stuck in a crappy job hustling to make a buck. Not so quiet desperation. Nothing worked out in his miserable life. A loser. Mental illness? Beats me…maybe just evil.

    • Already did that IdahoPete, Ubers are all gun free zones according to Uber policy, Uber users and Drivers are prohibited from possessing weapons while using the Uber App… Don’t ask me how they planned to enforce that little gem of an idea.

      • You mean the killer violated Uber’s employment rules? I am SHOCKED! OK, let’s have a rule that the gummint can search the homes of all Uber drivers (without a warrant) before they are allowed to drive! And maybe even pass a law that makes it illegal to murder people! Yeah, that will fix things!

  9. The killer is not talking. There are indications he was upset and had more going on in his mind than just being an emotionless robot. Whatever his reasons are it’s not going to mean much, as his actions are beyond justification.

  10. Is it more violent than it used to be? Well, yes, look at the homicide rates of the Wild West era before progressivism, and what it is now. As we get more progressive, violence goes up.

  11. Sigh, im seriously tired of this irelevant drivel these liberal clowns are promoting. We are a society of violence. We as humans are products of our enviroments and develop from them.
Rather than attacking guns and people with guns, why not attack the media. entertainment industry, food industry, video game industry that are programing these nuts to go on rampages.
Untill those problems are nullified, these acts will always happen, we just need to accept it and fix what needs to be fix?
How about chicago and the gangster thug bullshit that the c-rap industry is pandering to our children promoting them to be viloent criminals and jail birds…. oh wait, i forgot… the lawyers, you know, the guys that are supposed to fix laws are making a fist full of dollars off the ‘taught stupidity’ that society teaches the young.
Or how about restricting cooperations from giving themsleves (ceo’s etc) millions of dollars in bonuses rather than hiring people to work? Which causes to much stress on the already employed and causes disfunctions in thier homes with thier ‘thug’ children who have no parental guidance because mommy and daddy have to work 12 hours a day because so ceo doesnt want to pay for more workers to aleiviate the stress on the few workers they hire?…. ffs
We need to fix people, not restrict people from thier natural rights to live and defend themselves.
Also, they lable him as a nutter rather than tell us the problems he had that led up to the incident or show us where the system failed him that more than likley caused his deranged outburst of murder.. or perhaps, he was just nuts. idk. seems like there is more to this than they are letting on. They arent telling us the ‘why’s and hows’ i guess. agree?
This whole flippin world is outa control. smh

    • So far it seems like you’re one of the few to suggest alternate solutions. Cheers to you sir.

I would like to +1 your comment about the working conditions. I think that allot of the problems we face today, are complicated and require multiple solutions.

If we want to truly reduce violence, we have to start with the people. A nation of people who value life, liberty, and peace would not have our homicide rates even if there was a gun on every hip. A nation that does not, will always have such atrocities, regardless of the number or accessibility of guns.

If we truly want to reduce the violence, I believe we need to re-think our policies regarding issues ranging from the economic, to the justice system and our mass incarceration rates, to our educational system.

If we want to rule for 100 years, we should invest in a strong military. If we want to rule for 1000 years, we should invest in smart children.

The guns themselves, are largely irrelevant in this equation.

  12. BOTTOM LINE: CARS KILL PEOPLE!

  13. The linked article describes the unfortunate shooting of a woman by her sister. http://www.wect.com/story/31283719/woman-pleads-guilty-to-sisters-shooting-death-in-carolina-beach The husband of the shooter says she had just changed her meds and the woman cannot account for her bizarre behavior (probably psych meds, but who knows. Article does not say.) It does make you wonder whether this guy and some of the other crazed shooters had just started or just changed a medication. Listening to the list of side effects on all the pill commercials on TV is enough to make anyone cringe.

    • This. Yes the Chantix ads (smoking cessation drug) warn of thoughts of suicide, as well as depression and a whole host of side effects.

I dunno, maybe you should just keep smoking.

  14. Am I the only one who thinks, these, ever safer and “normal” nut bags…. hear the “BUZZ word” and GO into “Killa” mode, ie) the TBA next psycho of the week? Then the MSM Story dies down and next one gets the call…rinse and repeat. It seems to fill someones agenda/press conference ready to go. I’m just waiting for them to slip up and get the killers names out of order and announce next weeks killer before this person of the hour.
Last I heard, Mind Control is really easy. ROBOT!
The whole meds did it argument.. is just another slippery slope to justify, Why Yes they did take an advil, & had toxic levels of vitamin C from the tall glass of Grapefruit juice, with their SSRI, anti-anxiety, ambien cocktail, ect ect ect…put them all on the disqualification list.
I’m buying another slingshot just to be safe.
