  1. Well said, from the top! Should have added in that a couple well placed shots with a gun is what brought the attack to an end, but I will take what I can get.

  2. Why didn’t they use guns and bombs? Was this an ad hoc spur of the moment, unplanned attack? Triggered, pardon the usage, by the Manchester attack?

Guns are readily available illegally all across europe. Which leads me to believe this attack was unplanned.

If it was unplanned then we are dealing with grown men, I didn’t hear of any of them being teens or younger, with the emotional stability of a 2 yo.

That right there is scary stuff. If I was an Englishman and viewing what my own .gov was doing to stop this nonsense I would be trying to find a way to immigrate to the US.

    • That’s what the bad guys are hoping, if they can’t kill all of the good guys they want to drive them out.

      Same thing in California.

Same thing with prayer / flag in schools.

      Same thing with safe spaces.

Same thing with POS communist libs on college campuses.

      Same damn thing.

        • The same people who say you can’t pray in school are the same ones who say you can’t have a gun in your home or open or concealed carry as you go about your daily business. That is how it is connected.

This is why people who Cling to Their Guns and Their Religion don’t trust the godless. Atheist don’t really believe in the Bill Of Rights. They use supporting the free speech of the KKK or Illinois Nazi protesting as a fig leaf. They support protests at a military recruiting center. But they don’t support protests at an abortion clinic. They both have had violent protests.

        • Chris: it really depends on the atheist. Some atheists believe more strongly in the BoR because they don’t believe in a higher power who will sort it all out in the end, so to speak. If it’s just us after all, it’s even more important to protect and preserve in the here and now.

        • Atheist don’t really believe in the Bill Of Rights.

I’m 100% atheist, and I fully support the bill of rights.

Inherent rights don’t have to be inherent because of a creator… they’re inherent because we exist, regardless of why or how we are here.

        • Actually Cueballer , the odds are that an atheist is liberal progressive and the odds are that a Bible thumping happy clinger Christian like myself is a conservative constitutionalist. That’s an average.

I was like that when I was an agnostic libertarian/progressive. When I thought people that believed in a higher power were fools, I was still a dedicated small government constitutionalist. But I found that back then that most people that were agnostic/atheists were raging progressives/communists. Still is true today.

        • Funny, it seems to me that there are an awful lot of Catholics who you would describe as raving left wing radicals–including the Pope. Me, I’m agnostic–or more properly don’t care because I think once you die that’s it, there being no heaven or heel–but I am a strong supporter of the Bill of Rights–and the separation of church and state. If you want prayer in school, go to a private religious school. There are lots of them, and people should have the right to choose.

        • Yes there are Inherent Rights because you found/played with your ………. bellybutton. Therefore you are blah blah blah.all that exists etc etc etc.

        • To the godless
I know there are non believers who do support the Bill Of Rights. But they are a minority. I wish that was not true. The final protective line is the clinger with his or her guns. Any serious believer in the Bill Of Rights is welcome. I don’t care if you don’t believe in a higher power. I care if you support the Bill Of Rights.

        • Both sides are made up of multiple religions/beliefs. I can find you a ton of progressive Christians who are anti gun while I can also point to the Libertarian party (Aka, the only party that actually supports the bill of rights) which is easily over 50% atheists. Hell, the Alt right appears to be made up of Pagans/Heathens and I think it is safe to say they are pro second amendment.

Freedom isn’t bound by religion or someone’s lack there of.

    • Trucks can inflict mass-casualties almost as well as a bomb, and they’re a lot harder to control/watch than a gun or explosive. If you get stopped, the police can’t question you for driving a truck or van–not in politically correct Europe.

Also, it appears these guys were on the radar for quite a while. Peace-trucks are becoming the Isis weapon of choice.

      • Once again, the alphabet intel agencies look utterly incompetent, if not deliberately malfeasant.

Oh, and we might as well mention here that there’s a new “grooming” scandal coming forward in the UK:

        http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/06/02/fears-new-rochdale-grooming-gang-west-yorkshire-police-investigate/

How is it that it takes over 150 girls, and the number of men in the conspiracy reaches a dozen, before the UK police do anything about this? It can be only deliberate malfeasance that explains this.

        • @B:

Not really. But there’s a connotation that may have tripped you up. “Asia” means, literally, “from Asia” and it happens that India and Arabia are part of Asia. So it’s quite proper to call Indians and Arabs “Asian.”

We rarelydo that in the US because we tend to make the mental leap from “Asian” to “East Asian” (“Oriental”).

    • Sudden Jihad syndrome. All Muslims are potential carriers of the disease. The difference between a “moderate” Muslim and a radical fanatic can just be a Twitter post or a cartoon.Rid Western society of the religion and we rid ourselves of the disease.

      • That sounds awfully close to the belief that every gun owner is just one snap away from becoming a mass murderer.

    • >>readily available

Quite right, but why even bother? Heavy car is effective, knives are easy to obtain. Risk to get burned is zero. Planned and executed by Team Self-Proclaimed Mujahids, or by control who thought the cell might be expended – it will be hard to tell.

  3. The U.K. and other European nations are offended at Trump’s tweet … ohs nos!!!

The source article at the leading supply of birdcage lining material New York Times tells us how our allies in Europe are increasingly annoyed with President Trump’s tweets, immigration bans, and his decision to walk away from the largest financial transfer out of our nation in our history Paris Climate Accord. My response: who cares? What do our “allies” in Europe provide for us that is so critical to our nation’s well-being? Other than some occasional intelligence and a launching pad for operations/strikes in the Middle East, Europe does ZERO for us. Europe provides no natural resources, no industry, nothing that we do not already have or do or could easily do here.

It is about time that we stop forking over billions of dollars to Europe in exchange for, well, nothing. And if Europe is butt-hurt over that, suck it up buttercup. Come to think of it, it is about time that Europe start sucking up to the United States. Their alternatives: they can all start learning to read, write, and speak Russian … or get ready for Sharia law.

    • Well….Glock, Sig, CZ, H unt K, Privi ammo for starts.

I agree they don’t really provide anything to us, we’ve been saving their arses time and again. But some great firearm companies are there, and maybe wish they could move here….

      • CZ is part of the still-good part of Europe, so we won’t count them. For the rest… Glocks and Sigs are already made here to get around 922r.

    • True because many big cities have Sharia neighborhoods where the violence can originate. Examples: Awlaki was from San Diego, Al Shabbab fighters from Twin Cities / Detroit / Oakland.
Sounds like we know where police must focus efforts

    • If terror attacks are just part of life in the big city why do they bother having any police at all? Crime is also part of life in the big city why bother trying to stop it, Londoners should just accept that it will happen and wait for their time.

      Idiot politicians

    • “Violence does not solve problems.” – Every anti-2A spokesman/women ever.

Hitler and Tojo might disagree. It is up to us to make certain that ISIS never suffers from that delusion in America.

      • “My mother said violence never solves anything.”

“So?” Mr. Dubois looked at her bleakly. “I’m sure the city fathers of Carthage would be glad to know that. … I was not making fun of you personally; I was heaping scorn on an inexcusably silly idea — a practice I shall always follow. Anyone who clings to the historically untrue and thoroughly immoral doctrine that violence never settles anything I would advise to conjure up the ghosts of Napoleon Bonaparte and the Duke of Wellington and let them debate it. The ghost of Hitler could referee and the jury might well be the Dodo, the Great Auk, and the Passenger Pigeon. Violence, naked force, has settled more issues in history than has any other factor, and the contrary opinion is wishful thinking at its worst. Breeds that forget this basic truth have always paid for it with their lives and their freedoms.”

        -Heinlein, Starship Troopers

        • I love pitting Heinlein against Haldeman, because their attitudes and bographies correlate so neatly.

      • Yea, except for ending slavery, Nazism and Communism… violence has never solved anything.

        • Seems to me that the INITIATION of violence doesn’t solve problems. But the correct response to that initiation of force IS violence. Not always, of course, but often enough.

        • @Mama Liberty:

Depending on what you mean by your qualifiers, yes. There are (rare) occasions when violence is not the most effective response to initiated violence.

With that in mind, I’d say violence is always “on the table” as a possible response to initiated violence.

    • And I just finished a long argument on another site with a Londoner who claimed that it would not matter because if the average Brit could have a gun then the terrorists would have had guns too.

Answer: If average Brits could have been armed they would possibly have outnumbered the terrs from the start. The terrs have numerous random targets to choose from, defenders have few and distinct targets to aim at.

And at least they would have had some possibility of defending themselves, beer mugs obviously didn’t do the trick.

      • I’m glad someone will argue with the disarmed Londoners. I don’t have any patience with Castrati.

        • A fools errand, but he was spouting outrageous statistics about gun deaths in America and I could not let that stand. It went downhill from there.

      • The problem with British beer mugs now adays as improvised defensive weapons is that a law was passed a couple of years ago requiring them to be plastic instead if glass, because the glass mugs were being used in bar fights, and they caused injuries, either from being used as clubs, or because when they were broken, the sharp edges would be used as a cutting weapon.

  4. Sorry Donald NOTHING will change. Hell the local London po-leece are barely armed. SEE:Is Britain a lost cause? from yesterday…

    • I’m sure things have changed in the last 10 years, but the armament of police in the UK was one of the stranger things I noticed when I visited. Their spectrum of force jumped from unarmed/nightstick directly to MP5s and battle rifles. There was no apparent correlation between their armament and their duties either. I saw both types walking beats in town and both types on various profiles of guard duty. Strange.

  5. In Nice 87 were killed with a truck. In Manchester 22 killed with a bomb in Japan 6 months ago 15 people were stabbed to death. I think people who imagine everything is worse with a gun are fooling themselves. You just don’t know how things will play out.

  6. We aren’t debating guns not because they used knived and a truck in this attack. We aren’t debating guns because this particular attack doesn’t fit the left’s narrative and so doesn’t advance their agenda.

It isn’t that the left is sitting around pondering how to combat terrorism in its many versaitile forms. They’re just waiting for better optics to exploit their foreordained anti-gun agenda. They’re silent on guns right now, not because they finally realize that the specific means of mayhem is immaterial, but because this case doesn’t have anything to do with guns.

Their goal is total civilian disarmament, not safety and security from guns, terrorists, or anything else. You can’t blame and demonize the gun when there is no gun. So at the moment, they’re silent on guns.

    • To the anti-2A crowd, this attack was a victory because only seven died. They are that far gone. Instead of wondering how many would still be alive if their govt recognized the right to self-defense, they wonder how many more would be dead if Brits had liberal* firearms laws.

*using the word’s real definition, not the hijacked version where liberal = prohibition and govt registration lists

  7. Thats Right Mr President, preach the gospel to the people! Behind every blade of grass Sir! #alltheway

  8. When Muslims shoot innocent people, the American Left blames the guns. When Muslims run over innocent people with trucks, the American Left blames non-Muslims because the poor dear Muslims weren’t able to assimilate.

Who will the American Left blame when Muslims target them? I don’t know, but I can hardly wait to find out.

    • American left are the terrorist. Kathy Griffen holding a bloody effigy of POTUS. Perfect image of the liberal left.

  9. I really don’t understand all the concern the left has about EVERYONE’S right to have firearms. If they truly believe in their viewpoints, we will all be dead from climate change in a few months anyway!
