“This is a way to get at the president because of the way I can be identified with him,” Holder said, according to the Times. “Both due to the nature of our relationship and, you know, the fact that we’re both African-American.” That was Attorney General Eric Holder’s response yesterday when asked about the growing number of calls for his resignation over the Fast and Felonious debacle. Now that he’s tossed the race card on the table, his only remaining option is, “But they started it!”

  1. EH likes to dish it out yet he can’t take it. He once called America a nation of cowards. His Justice Department is a gang of cowards hiding behind massive firepower and the power of the President. Throwing out the race card block attempt is getting old and tiresome, and is a desperate attempt to quiet criticism. It could provide some good comedy.

  2. A blast from the past (no pun intended):
According to the documentation provided in the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit brought against the Department of Justice by Salt Lake City attorney Jesse Trentadue, the Oklahoma City bombing had aspects of being an FBI sting operation that went out of control. Holder had authorized the FBI to provide explosives to Nichols and McVeigh, then lost track of both the explosives and their targets.
    This alleged by The USPU.

  3. By Holder’s standard, the attacks on Justice Thomas was because he was Afrcan American. So about those racist Democrats…

  4. I never even knew Holder was supposed to be African American. Of course Wife and I really do not consider Obama to be a Black Person.

  5. The sentence quoted does not make any sense. “The nature of our relationship” implies something…relevant. It is irrelevant, all racy contexts his ambiguous phrasing inspires aside. Eric Holder is a coward of the highest order. Back several Deathwatches ago I said he would either end up bowing out or trying to take Obama with him. I honestly expected him to come clean at first, believe it or not. Had I been aware he would’ve refused then the only option is to pull the President down with him, as predictable as it is. Spineless.

  6. Why is this man still employed by us? Has there been some serious malfunction in collective reasoning that has rendered the assumption of common law obsolete? This AG has boldly broken the law numerous times, and still thinks it is an issue of political vendetta? I do not give a damn which side of the aisle a man’s (or woman’s, for that matter) sympathies and ethos fall, the law is all that keeps us better than the rest of the world. Plain and simple. If the man allegedly responsible for upholding those same laws is a criminal, then what the hell are we supporting in the first place?

  7. I am African-American and that is a bullshit call. Even Obama has avoided playing the race card, esp. when he campaigned. It is part of the job, and even if it is true (stress if), if you want to piss in the tall weeds with the big dogs, you need to get your paws dirty. No one went after Holder BEFORE fast and furious so suddenly, come mid-2010 the country woke up and said, oh shit, a black man is in charge of the Justice Dept? Really? So what about the calls for the resignation of Dennis Burke? Is he Black now? What about all of the numbnuts at ATF? Are they all Black? Wow – didn’t know ATF was so diverse. I should have paid better attention.

    • Obama personally may not have used the race card, but his proponents use it constantly. Hence why you get people like Morgan Freeman (and I was always under the false impression that he was intelligent) state that there’s no way that people disagree with his policies, they simply don’t like him because he’s (half) black.

      • perhaps the problem is people keep saying “half Black”? Let me help you out. Back in the day, if you were 1/16 Black, you were BLACK! He has a White mother. He is still Black. I have a White grandfather. It doesn’t change anything so by trying to say BHO is not Black, this gives credence to his supporters and allows them leeway to argue back.

        • Two of my grandaughters are Black with a White grandfather(me) they are also part Hispanic. I just think Holder is a traitorous lying scumbag and it didn’t start with the Obama administration. When he was with the Clintons he was responsible for the pardons of Marc Rich and the FALN terrorists. He later represented United Fruit in illegal negotiations with Colombian terrorists in violation of US laws. His firm later represented Gitmo detainees, which he “forgot”to disclose during the confirmation hearings Now comes “Fast and Furious”and he has the nerve to play the race card!! There are plenty of reasons for Holder not to be AG having nothing to do with race.

        • Whether Obama is .00000001% black or 100% black, it doesn’t change the fact that he and his lemmings keep claiming that anyone who disagrees with him is racist.

It’s amusing though to see that you put so much emphasis on race to think that because someone has .0000000001% of their DNA from someone who’s black it makes them “all black”.

    • B.O’s “played the card” more than once already, do a quick search & find out for yourself. The man is a low life punk!

  8. When dealing with blacks it is always about race, especially if you catch them behaving badly. At least that is my experience.

    • Yep. forget about signs with BHO with a bone in his nose or saying he is half Black or arguing that racism does not exist and we are all equal. That argument fails. How about just admitting there is racism, sexism, homophobia, class warfare, Xenophobia, veteran discrimination, and that all of this is part of living in a vast, multicultural society that allows freedom of thought, expression and opinion. But . . . at the end of the day, I would rather be here than anywhere else in the world.

  9. Ahhh, the race card. To me the most despicable aspect of playing it so flippantly is that it does nothing but further the “cry wolf” opinion of racial discrimination that has come to be. Of course, nothing is sacred with this administration and obviously making legitimate claims of discrimination even harder is just peachy if it helps them. They are truly running out of options if they’ve gotten to this point and by doing this they are showing the nation they are guilty as hell and are now playing a delaying game.

  10. Holder played the race card because that’s the only one he’s got left. He’s out of arguments, out of facts, and (we can hope) running out of lies. This is easily the worst crime by our government in recent history, and most of the media thinks it’s their job not to cover it, but to cover it up. Who needs censorship when the media willingly refuses to report a story? Unless they’ve just reduced themselves to being the public relations office for a particular political party.

One way of thinking of its seriousness is to add up the years in prison for all the laws that were violated, then consider the 300 dead Mexicans and 2 dead American agents.

Even the slightest hint of remorse would be encouraging.

  11. “due to the nature of our relationship”

What if he really subconsciously meant that he and Obama are having a Monica and Bill relationship?

  12. I’d like to think that people in general simply don’t buy the race card anymore, or at least that it’s become so overused and tiresome that it gives pause as to real implication.

    I’d LIKE to think that…

  13. There Republican candidates are a mess. Obama will surely win again in 2012 unless the unemployment rate bombs again or some other shoe drop. Obama has made no mention about letting Holder go and has not stepped into this fight nor will he over the next year because the country as a whole and the media as a whole has not embraced the Fast and Furious story, thus, we will have 4 more years of Holder if we like it or not. Unless Issa and company steps up the beat next year enough to make Holder and political liability, he will still be around.

    • This comment should be required reading. Unless the Republican “Seven Dwarfs” can turn things around, our nation will be in the sh!tter for another four years.

    • with respect, you’re calling the race too early.

sure, it’s been a zoo of a circus lately with these so called debates, but we’ve plenty of time to whittle down to the republican nomination, and rally behind him/her.

give the American people a bit more credit than that: the political paradigm has shifted considerably during Obama’s administration, and things have certainly gotten worse.

I say equally how the American public was desperate for a change from the Bush doctrine, this is far from what they expected. And getting America “back on the right course” is truly what we, the people, want.

discounting, of course voting by illegals, dead people, and multiple votes (ie; voter fraud)
