  1. I suppose he holds to the progressive commandments:
    1. The rich steal wealth from the poor
    2. Workers and creators owe society (i.e., the government)
    3. The government is the font of wealth and progress
    4. What’s yours is mine and what’s mine is mine and we are all together
    5. What’s good for me is good for you, unless I need it
    6. You have a duty to defend me
    7. I am free to do as I please
    8. I must always have what you have, or more
    9. I can never feel pain or deprivation
    10. Government is God

    • Eh, I’m not saying that there aren’t some crazy folks who fall most closely within the venn diagram of “progressive” who may believe these things, but being one myself and knowing a lot of them I have to say that these statements are appear as ridiculously stupid to me as they do to you.

With the exception of number 7 that is. I’m pretty sure this is an American ideal shared by the left, right, and sideways.

      • Except it’s not. It’s more like: “I’m free to do as I please, and you should only be free to do what I think you should do.”

        • But I should be free to do as I please so long as I don’t infringe on your freedoms. You should be free to do as you please so long as you don’t infringe on my freedoms. right? If someone takes away your freedom, even if you are behaving in a way that I would not want for myself, then that means they could possibly take away my freedom too, and that we should probably band together and fight whoever is committing this act even if we disagree with each others personal behaviors/beliefs.

      • Don, to me, a progressive is an extremist. I know lots of liberals who don’t fit my categories, just like I don’t fit their idea of a conservative, but that’s what I consider myself. As someone who voted for McGovern, Carter, Mondale, Clinton (twice), I finally reached the point where it looked like all the Democrats cared about were those who suffered, mostly because of the choices they made. And they wanted me to pay for them. Sorry, I changed my mind and decided that I knew how best to spend my money.

        • I don’t disagree with your disgust with democrats. I also don’t disagree that some people who call themselves progressive are idiots, hypocritical, and self-contradictory (as a lot of folks are in all categories).

To me a progressive is someone who favors or advocates progress, change, improvement, or reform, as opposed to wishing to maintain things as they are if the way things are have not maximized individual liberty. Someone who desires to make progress toward better conditions; employing or advocating ideals favorable to or in accord with concepts of maximum individual freedom possible, especially as guaranteed by law and secured by governmental protection of civil liberties. Favoring or permitting freedom of action, especially with respect to matters of personal belief or expression.

I base this on the dictionary definition of “Progressive” understood throughout the world in the context of political philosophy, not the talk radio/cable news recently redefined definition. This is why I consider myself a progressive and also this definition is what is understood by all of the self-labeled progressives I know at least. I consider most of the AI progressive too.

I think most people would agree if they looked at the actual meanings of conservative and progressive and liberal that the best most responsible way for society to be is “conservatively progressive”.

  2. Melodrama, ho hum. Whenever something bad happens powerless people are frightened by notion that there is nothing they can do to help and get on the “strongly worded statement” bandwagon.

Hilariously, IF the NRA actually did any of these things as described it still wouldn’t be treasonous.

    • Progressives are Communists, cowardly Communists who hide behind Truth Speak with the sole intent of enslaving all men and installing themselves in God’s place in the minds of men.
      Sue Me

      • Eh, progressives are progressives, communists are communists. see my long comment above for what a progressive actually is.

I agree that what you are saying applies communist governments though!

  3. – for assigning human qualities to inanimate objects…
    – for being deliberately ignorant of what constitues natural, inherent rights…
    – for blaspheming his true god, the state, by making references to another source of divinity…
    – for calling for the violation of others’ property based on arbitrary criteria…
    – and for unyielding alligiance to the lie that laws make a people safe…

I charge David Cook with idiotic stupidity.

  4. As passionate as some gun control advocates are… Someone should make t-shirts that express their aversion to firearms (“I’m Gun-Free”). Maybe signs for the front door… “Gun-Free Home”.

    Think anyone would buy them?

  5. My niece went to GPS, the all-girl prep school in Chattanooga, TN, where this asshat teaches. No wonder she thinks like this clown.

  6. I promise that, unlike the core cadre of elitists infecting downtown, most Chattanoogans and Tennesseans hoist a big middle finger to such thinking.

This is embarrassing and not representative of my neighbors.

  7. it’s treason to work within the system to advance the constitutionally gauranteed rights of the individual? then about 3/4 of the democratic pols are safe from treason charges. and i thought we gun owners were supposed to be extremist. what a tool.

  8. Ah, traitors accusing others of treason. Straight out of the prog handbook of hypocritically projecting one’s own faults onto others, same as pushing “tolerance” by being intolerant and “equality” by demanding special privileges.

Oh well, whether it’s God or the government (the same to some people), there’s no expecting rational thought out of those who can’t think beyond their own perceived masters.

    • Yep. The aggressor claims to be the victim. Those who attack Liberty claim to defend it. Pacifist ideas are to be imposed by force.
Those of this ilk are masters of paradox.

  9. His stupidity aside- is it me or if you put a ball cap on that guy, isn’t he nutnfancy’s evil twin?!…..coincidence?

  10. His side of the argument doesn’t seem to be convincing to the majority of Americans so he accuses the folks who most disagree with him of Treason.

And my three year old calls me a Bad Daddy when I make him clean up for bed.

It’s cute when one of them does it.

  11. I would say he is just one Twit Tweeting.
But, reality sets the responding statement to be:

Willful ingnorance will slay free people as surely as the sword.

    Nous Defions

  12. What a fag. Behold his/her smarmy list of pseudo-charges written for a rainbow court yet to be born. Laughter is the best medicine for idiocy.

David Cook, I heartily mock thee. Your warrior’s visage must surely strike fear into the hearts of field mice and butterflies, but not I.

  13. Or, conversely, you indict yourself on charges of ignorance. But you progressive thinkers would call that a difference of opinion, wouldn’t you? Of course, as a progressive thinker, I’d bet even money you’d be liable to call abortion a choice rather than murder, wouldn’t you?

  14. “For spoiling the divine message of peace-making, forgiveness and turning the other cheek …”

Typical pacifist twaddle. A pacifist is someone who knows they can count on someone else to ensure their safety. This twit is one of the “people [who] sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.” – George Orwell

I am willing to bet he is a firm believer in calling 911 and letting the police commit violence to protect him. If I am wrong, I would like to see his name, address, and photos of his house published on every web site possible so he can practice “forgiveness and turning the other cheek” for the home-invasion thugs who will visit him.

  15. Mr. Dickless has the zeal of Savonarola and the intellectual ability of a steamed carrot. That’s a very dangerous package. Thankfully, those who can, do, and those who can’t, write crap.

  16. Let’s be fair here.
I’m sure he believes that guns CANNOT make people safe. I could debate this with facts and statistics and logic, but my gut feel is that underlying David’s expression that guns can’t make people safe, I hear him saying a gun, “in his hand,” can’t make anyone safe. A lot of pu**ies think this way.
How’s that for hi-brow learned debate?
Why is it that most gun control fanatics have a little bit of wussy hiding in their snake oil rants?
Grow a pair, David. This isn’t a macho thing, it is simply about being a man and securing what you love and what is yours. And since a hell of a lot of women also carry, you would have to categorize your fears as that of a child……scared, inexperienced to the ways of the world and ….woefully naive.

  17. Hey Dave, read any good commandments lately? Because my guess is the criminals out there either haven’t or don’t care what they say. So you go ahead and throw your Bible at the next guy who tries to harm you. I’ll stick with my pistol and / or shotgun, tvm.

  18. In a perfect world…his utopia, sure…however while back here on planet earth, he get’s mugged and beaten or his wife get’s raped and murdered.

I’d love to see his display of forgiveness then.

Lots of church folk talk like this, until their sheltered worlds are touched by “evil”. I for one would like to be able to trust every fellow neighbor/man, but reality tells me that for the sake of my Wife/Daughters, that could be a serious mistake.

Unfortunately this fool isn’t going to change reality because he “wills” it…or prays 10 times a day. God works in mysterious ways, and sometimes let’s your Wife or Daughter get cut into pieces.

I’ll do what I can to protect their physical health and if they so choose, he can have their emotional/spiritual health.

  19. Then Jesus asked them, “When I sent you without purse, bag or sandals, did you lack anything?” “Nothing,” they answered. He said to them, “But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one. It is written: `And he was numbered with the transgressors’ ; and I tell you that this must be fulfilled in me. Yes, what is written about me is reaching its fulfillment.” The disciples said, “See, Lord, here are two swords.” “That is enough,” he replied. (Luke 22:35-38, NIV)

    Just sayin’.
    -Ben

  20. From David’s article…..

“On Tuesday, Chattanooga City Councilman Peter Murphy introduced a resolution that would ask the federal bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to “expedite rule-making regarding the making of brightly colored firearm components.”

He’s talking about guns that look like toys. Brightly colored. Pistol handles in hot pink. One police officer told Murphy and the council that he’s seen guns painted with cartoon characters. He spoke about the dangers these guns pose to officers and to the public.

“And for what purpose would anybody create that?” asked Deputy Chief Tommy Kennedy.”

First they complained toy guns were too realistic and needed brightly colored parts to distinguish them from real ones. Now that’s not enough, they need to ban them completely. For the children.

    • Funny.

They wanted toy guns to not look real (so nobody would think they were real and off the kid holding it, as if the child was endangering a life) AND now they don’t want the adult’s guns to NOT look scary and menacing. Never mind that doing so demands that nobody can stylize their guns to fit them. I might not want a pink gun, but if someone else does, more power to them.

  21. It’s a bit disturbing that, after having previously lived for many years in the San Francisco Bay Area and after decades of looking at numerous pics of uber modern liberals, I’m noticing a certain “look” to the faces of the male pro-gun control and male pro-feminist supporters. Especially the look around the eyes. Maybe it’s from those guys eating more raw veggies and tofu (which has reportedly high amounts of estrogen), and from smoking more marijuana than the average man. It’s weird.

  22. Until the last one I thought he was talking about gun controllers.

■For relentlessly pushing an agenda that is neither vital nor promoting of the common good …
Few here would think gun control promotes the common good

■For encouraging a distorted and fear-based narrative that sees other people as potential criminals instead of neighbors, citizens or children of God …
It’s the controllers who fear that as soon as any of their neighbors touch a gun that they will be filled with homicidal rage.

■For swiping away like plates off a table the real issues from the attention of politicians …
The Brady Bunch and MAIG both try to bring back gun control laws of old

■For spoiling the divine message of peace-making, forgiveness and turning the other cheek …
Look at Mikeyb32000 and you’ll see he’s not very forgiving as he and his side often advocate one strike and you’re out policies to strip people of their natural God-given rights for true accidents even if nobody is harmed.

For the unyielding allegiance to the lie that says that people can not be trusted to take their own safety into their hands I charge the current advocates of gun-control with treason. – TF

  23. The first three items on this man’s list made me think that he was talking about gun control advocates:

    1. Pushing an agenda that is neither vital or will promote the common good

    2. Encouraging a fear-based narrative that sees everyone as potential criminals

    3. Taking attention away from real problems

Yup, those are typical of the control freaks.

  24. The passage about turning the other cheek has nothing to do with life threatening violence. And since when did this country pass laws based on the beliefs of any single crackpot religion? Except when it does… sigh.
