The price we pay as a nation for opening the front door to everyone, while at the same time leaving the back door unlocked. Our immigration policies were not enforced before, as the new ones coming down the pipe will likely be ignored as well. The idea that those that are “oppressed” should be given carte blanche has bitten us on the keister not just with these guys, but the thousands of central and south americans and eastern europeans who are now gangsters on our streets. Granted-most who come into the U.S. are decent, hard working folk, but the criminal element has created a situation in this country where law-abiding citizens slowly but surely have been losing our rights. Irony in this is politicians want to give citizenship to illegals, thereby allowing those who broke the law to eventually change the law via voting and/or running for office as newly minted citizens. However anyone stating this is quickly labeled anti-immigrant or racist.
Assuming they are of the hard-working variety (which I’m sure you’ll agree is the vast majority) then yes they broke a law, but I’d hardly call them criminals, as I wouldn’t call someone who smoked a joint a criminal.
The point is that immigrants (like gun owners) should be treated and thought about, as individuals not as sterotypes.

When I was in college in Canada we had this Iranian kid there. He drove an Acura Integra all souped up and lived in a $2000 a month apartment (by himself!), and ate out every single F&cking day. His college was paid for, his car was paid for, his living, failing in school and lifestyle and clothes were all paid for by me and other Canadian tax payers. His name was Ehab Sherrif or some shit. His dad was a biologist and he stated that he had eleven brothers all doing the same thing all over the world. He once went all over France and Spain on Spring break. Christmas in Italy? Sure! Why not! Needless to say he hated Canada because we were all closed minded and hated him. The girls sure loved him though.
He was deported back in 2008 for fondling a lady in a university elevator. Good times.

Duzt, do some research. Roughly 50% of the population pay no federal income tax, and the bottom 10% or so get “refunds” despite having not paid into the system.
Which is why we should go Margaret Thatcher style – everybody pays taxes.
How about we go the other way where nobody pays taxes. I would much prefer that system.
Pretty much everybody with a job pays taxes. The Federal income tax is not the only tax out there, and the deliberate confusion of “pay no Federal income tax” to “pay no taxes” is insultingly stupid. Other Federal payroll taxes are charged to pretty much anyone who earns wage income, as are many state income taxes. Sales taxes exist in most states as well.
Accur81: you should educate yourself a little more about Margaret Thatcher’s idea of replacing property tax with a flat per-head tax, and how it killed her political career. Please take that idea and give it to politicians I wish out of office, thanks.

I support legal immigration. Is our current system broke? Yes. Will it get fixed? No. Dems rely on extorting the illegals and their legal family members for support and GOP relies on the cheap and unprotected labor. Win-win for all but America.

Refugees are SLIGHTLY higher risk because they have less reason to feel part of their host country. After all, they aren’t here because they wanted to be in the US (notionally, at least) but because they couldn’t stay where they were.
That’s about as far as there is sense in this guy’s rant.
The vast majority of immigrants who chose to become American citizens are terribly proud to be Americans, and, on the whole, are far better educated in civics than those who’ve been here for generations. “Man in the street” interviews demonstrate repeatedly that many natural born Americans are clueless about our history, about our form of government (or who happens to be running it) or about our rights as preserved by the Bill of Rights than immigrants who study and pass the citizenship test.
I would have to agree with you. Being from Canada and raised the way I was I found the transition to living here to be easier than getting my drivers license back in Canada. I am terribly proud to be American.
