  1. Correct! A right is not an animate object and so cannot poses intellect nor can it have vision. Well in the literal sense that vision is a sense(hehe). I’m glad somebody from the left side of the tea kettle gets it. Now if they could realize that guns don’t have a mind of their own… Selective reasoning much?

      • The left was taught by Saul Alinsky to demonize an individual or group. While they despise all of us, gun owners in general make up too large a group to be a boogieman, so they pick on the NRA.

        • +1

It doesn’t help that the NRA panders so hard to the hard right crowd during rallies and fundraisers.

    • I was thinking along those same lines. Our founding fathers didn’t write the Second Amendment to please the non-existent gun industry back then, and the NRA didn’t exist back then.

      • To be fair, the gun industry was alive and thriving before the Constitutional Convention. PA gunsmiths made many rifles for frontiersmen and ranger units like Daniel Morgan’s troops. I know there were also gunsmiths in Boston as well making guns.

Of course the mass produced gun industry got kicked off by George Washington’s commissioning of the Springfield Armory in the 1790s.

        • I read once that about half the “rifles” made in PA during the colonial period were actually smoothbores. Reducing the bore size from the larger muskets in use in the more populated eastern parts of the colonies allowed people in the wilderness to conserve lead and powder. Commodities that were expensive to freight in to the wilderness.

Can’t confirm if that’s true or not.

      • They also didn’t write it to give us any rights. They wrote it to ensure tyrants couldn’t take our inherent rights away easily.

    • You know, if the NRA and CIA merged, we could solve world hunger, infinite energy AND have FTL travel with space colonies in less then ten years.

Gee, these antis seem to think the NRA is some vast, omniscient shadowy HYDRA like evil organization that put mind control chips in handguns and assault weapons (but not fuddy duddy wooden bolt guns and break actions; that would be unpossible!).

  2. Apparently he left his logic and common sense in Mr Capone’s vault. After all he did not seem to have a problem with guns in Afghanistan a few years back.

  3. Speaking of blind and crazy, Geraldo: the second amendment doesn’t give us rights; rather, it protects what is a natural right against government infringement.

But hey: you’re welcome to work to amend the constitution – or in lieu of that, move to a country such as the UK that has banned guns. But why do that? Just live in Chicago, New York City, or the District of Columbia.

    • Oh come on all those places are bastions of brotherly love and peace. Well alright maybe it’s just a coincidence. (sarc)

    • I do not believe my state would stay in the Usa if an amendment taking away our second amendment rights passed. TEXAS would leave and we would not be the only one. If my state stayed I along with many others would not give up our guns and would likely use them on those coming to take them away.

  4. Let’s see. This is the same guy who when he sailed his boat around the world armed himself and crew with AK’s. The same guy who wouldn’t get a police permit in NYC, if he wasn’t a celebrity with connections, lawyers and greaseing “the right folks”. The same stabil guy who has been thru 6 wives with 8 kids. The same upstanding moral character who was tweeting nude photos. The same guy who was smoking dope and snorting coke like a Hoover back in the day….so remind me why I should waste my time listening to him ?

  5. Where are the flying chairs? Shouldn’t some of those whackos be strangling each other and breaking noses? Man, Geraldo ain’t what it used to be…

  6. Geraldo Rivera has been a pimp for the liberal left for as long as I can remember, one of my favorite tv scenes was him getting face planted by a chair in the brawl he caused on his stupid talk show, He also got kicked out of Iraq in the early stages of the war for drawing a map in the sand showing where the troops he was embedded with were going, I wonder if any troops were killed by that act?
Fox uses people like him to show they show both sides, why bother?

  7. ‘Far Too Many Creepy Untrained People with Deadly Weapons’…What does this even mean? Seriously? Gun Safety isn’t like college. I don’t need so many hours of credit to pass. Gun safety is fairly simple and common sense. And creepy? Are we “icky” to him because we choose to own firearms? Well, I think this article has “Far too many creepy, mustached men with stupid opinions”.

  8. Once again, I’m missing out on these free NRA guns. How come I didn’t get one in the mail with my new membership card? Answer me Jerry Rivers!!!

  9. The elites may think they don’t need the protection of arms and therefor neither do the “stupid” non-elites, who they think are expendable anyway.

As Bloomberg might say, channeling his inner Marie Antoinette, “Arms? Let them hire bodyguards!”

    • Not entirely correct. The “elites” do acknowledge their need for weapons, either as a CCL that only they can “qualify” for, ie, Sen. Feinstein with her CC pistol, or as armed body guards.

But we, the “useless eaters and breeders” , definitely don’t need a weapon to defend our pointless lives. In the minds of our “betters”.

  10. ‘Far Too Many Creepy Untrained People with Deadly Weapons’

Too bad so many of them are cops.

      • By cops I meant federal, state and local. And if the federal agents take offense at being called ‘cops’ all the better.

  11. “the provision that gives every American the right to keep and bear arms, is blind and stupid”

    Said already but I’ll reiterate…

The Bill of Rights does NOT give rights to Americans. It PROTECTS those rights. Repeating the mantra that rights are ‘granted’ by government or some document is the foundation of progressive thought. Everything you are and everything you have stems from the all-mighty government. From this basic argument flows all of the progressive BS we are subject to on a daily basis.

Yes, the 2A (and the rest of the Bill of Rights) is indeed blind…to keep various .gov entities from screwing it up.

  12. If the problem is that far too many creepy people have guns, I fail to see how that isn’t an argument for carrying a gun.

  13. With this type of “logic” maybe we need to get rid of the first amendment as well since too many people wield that right without any training and the news industrial complex pimp all types of dangerous rhetoric into this dangerously unhinged country.

  14. Whomever thinks the Second Amendment “grants” anything is blind and stupid.

Whomever thinks the Second Amendment is blind and stupid IS blind and stupid.

Whomever thinks the NRA “relentlessly pips” for the so-called “gun industry” is blind and stupid.

Whomever thinks anything even remotely like Geraldo is blind and stupid.

  15. The civil rights lawyer Jerry Rivers would have helped prevent the crazy adam lanza from getting the treatment his mother desperately wanted him to have. The left wants untreated mentally ill people freely walking about or driving would be even better in the lefts mind.

  16. Mr. Rivera’s comment takes on a whole new light if we apply it like this:

In its relentless pimping for the news industry, the American Civil Liberties Union has unleashed an avalanche of deadly editorials on this news-crazy country.

  17. Repost
During the Constitutional debates, opponents repeatedly charged that the Constitution as drafted would open the way to tyranny by the central government. George Mason, who drafted the Virginia Declaration of Rights in early 1776 flatly refused to sign the Constitution without a formal declaration of ‘Rights’, despite promises from James Madison and others that this would be addressed in the first Congress.
In September of 1789, the First Congress of the United States proposed to the state legislatures 12 amendments to the Constitution that met arguments most frequently advanced against it.
Both the first joint resolution proposing the initial amendments and the U.S. Bill of Rights as ratified contains the following — ( seemingly unknown to many, rarely mentioned, but unarguably highly pertinent ) — passage:

From the U.S. Bill of Rights
“THE Conventions of a number of the States, having at the time of their adopting the Constitution, expressed a desire, in order to prevent misconstruction or abuse of its powers, that further declaratory and restrictive clauses should be added: And as extending the ground of public confidence in the Government, will best ensure the beneficent ends of its institution.
    RESOLVED…”

One particular ‘further declaratory and restrictive clause added ‘in order to prevent misconstruction or abuse of its powers’ as follows:
    Amendment II
“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

  18. “Like I’ve [Geraldo Rivera] always said, the Second Amendment, the provision that gives every American the right to keep and bear arms, is blind and stupid. In its relentless pimping for the gun industry, the NRA has unleashed an avalanche of deadly weapons on this gun-crazy country.”
Well seeing as he has a problem with one amendment let us look at another”
Like I’ve always said, the First Amendment, the provision that gives every American the right to free speech, is blind and stupid. In its relentless pimping for the media industry, the Forth Estate has unleashed an avalanche of deadly words on this speech-crazy country.
My My considering the almost total coverage we all receive from the so called FREE press whether print or digital seems at odds with a lot of the people they are supposed to serve. So maybe the First Amendment is just being “pimped” buy the Media industry!
And I am sure that the hated media industry has been around since the founding of our country. If memory serves they were one of the best way for FREE People to get news and without the hated FIREARM they would have all been killed by the Government they spoke out against.
So lets get rid of the tools that protected the other tool and all sing kum-by-ya to the party line. that has really worked in so many places, it must be a winner!
    Yours in service
    James Acerra

    • I was waiting for somebody to turn this around on the First Amendment. Well said.

The logical flaw in Geraldo’s problem with the 2nd Amendment is that the very same Bill of Rights that “allows” us to be those icky gun people also allows him to be part of our vaunted free press (provided that someone is willing to hire him; why anyone would want to watch that creepily mustachioed bloviator is beyond me).

Rivera and his ilk should consider themselves lucky that we respect both the First and Second Amendments far more than he does. After all, we are armed, and if we were anywhere near as violent and intolerant as they say we are, they’d all be dead by now. Or working in prison camps.

Come to think of it, that’s exactly what they would do to us if they thought they could get away with it. No wonder they’re so fearful; in their worst nightmares, we’re exactly like them…only we ALL have guns.

  19. Where the hell is my NRA gun? I’m a card carrying member and all I have is a sticker and a travel mug!

  20. Isn’t Rivera the creepiest untrained person in news media? Shouldn’t he have his first amendment rights taken away then?

  21. He doesn’t have to audition for NBC cable . He has his own gig on Fox and recently was runner-up on Celebritard apprentice. At least he looks good for his age. His most annoying moment for me was droning on and on about a 38 “saturday night special” killing the anti-American John Lennon(on 101 weapons that changed the world). 5 minutes of guncontrol diatribe…

  22. Three words: Al Capone’s vault. In Geraldo’s world, a premise is a suitable substitute for fact.
Gee, Gerry, if you lib’s weren’t trying to shred the Constitution on a daily basis, the NRA wouldn’t be needed to “pimp for the gun industry.” Given his less than lily-white-hispanic history, maybe Gerry shouldn’t bring up the pimp word about,…well, just about anything. Does that mean Gerry is pimping amnesty for illegal aliens?

  23. This is the guy who when embedded with ground troops in Iraq drew a picture in the dirt so his cameraman could show the world where these American troops were……he was kicked out of the line and sent packing….this man is an idiot.

  24. I think he needs to go back to Porto Rico. If he doesn’t want to carry a gun or have one in his home, thats his choice. I don’t want him to tell me I can’t. I was wondering if at any time he has armed body guards, or armed security around his house. Can anyone answer that question for me?
