  1. Rednecks feed your silly ass. Your neck would be a bit red too if you spent all day on a tractor…..You know…. WORKING for a living.

    • You, know, If you listen carefully I think the audience was cheering for itself after his redneck remark. They didn’t sound all that on his side at all.

  2. Yep, that’s me. A Ph.D. f-ing urban redneck.

The real trouble is that a tiny minority of the country that runs the news and information business are a bunch of f-ing psuedo-sophisticates who know a lot stuff that isn’t true.

    • Yep, same for me. I have 15 years of post high school education with 3 degrees and live in a “flyover state”. To them (pseudo-intellectual know it alls) I am a stupid redneck. Sure.

        • I can’t say it any better than this:

“You don’t know what it’s like out there. I’ve worked in the real world. They expect results!”

      • Public policy, womyn’s studies, social work, etc. Those are the PhDs that matter.

Not something antisocial, like chemistry, math, or engineering.

Personally, I went BSE and MSCS. Super redneck.

        • “Not something antisocial, like chemistry, math, or engineering.”

That must explain why I don’t matter AND am a redneck.

    • Wow, My neck must REALLY be red? Let’s see a BS from 1979 in microbiology with a minor in psychology. Full regents science scholarship from 1975. Dual degree in Constitutional Law and criminal justice (4yr degree earned in just over 2 years going nights, weekends and summers graduating Summa Cum Laude and I work in a cancer research facility. Maher’s real claim to fame were “The Avocado Jungle of Doom” and “D.C. Cab”.

When Leftists think gun owner they immediately picture banjo boy or maybe Goober Pyle. Ask them to explain harmonic vibration of a rifle barrel and how to mitigate it.

      Ray

    • Me too, three degrees, and a retired Navy captain, military aviator, vegetarian, organic gardener, and redneck.

      • Had a next-door neighbor who was a retired F-14 later F-18 aviator.

        His neck was mighty red.

He also verified ‘Tailhook’ was lots of fun…

  3. Always on an even keel that Bill Maher, never hyperbolic.

He has a style like he either speaks only on camera, or to people he can fire.

But then again, his job is to be a bit of a d**k to get the attention of those who like and dislike him.

    Guess he succeeded.

    • Yes, we shouldn’t give him the time of day. If no one paid attention to him, he’d stop talking, or not, either way he doesn’t say anything worth listening to.

      • They, like all cable news personalities, speak Truth because of journalistic integrity. For the uninitiated, journalistic integrity is spelled how it sounds, M-O-N-E-Y.

        • (O’Reilly, Limbaugh, Cruz, etc)

“They, like all cable news personalities, speak Truth because of journalistic integrity”

Limbaugh makes quite clear that he is an entertainer, not a ‘journalist’.

“For the uninitiated, journalistic integrity is spelled how it sounds, M-O-N-E-Y.”

Limbaugh is also quite clear that he is indeed in it for the money.

Years back he got pressured to run for office.

He said he wasn’t interested in the paycut…

      • Well for one thing, none of them drop the F-bomb as much as Maher does. I consider that keeping it classy, but nowadays, I guess that is not considered “edgy” enough.

  4. I’m just a free thinking EXPLETIVE DELETED redneck and damned proud of it. These group of people are all mentally ill do gooders and we all know do gooders never do good.

Historically it has been the liberals/progressives that have disarmed their populations and then committed atrocities on a biblical scale.

  5. Funny, I’m an engineer working and living in one of the largest cities in the country. I also own enough guns and ammo to conquer half the West Coast. Admittedly, that’s just 4 ARs and 3 AKs, but the mere sight of a black rifle is enough to make a California hippy puke in his Prius.

    • One of my friends is in a similar vein. He’s a software engineer, whose interests also go towards firearms. The biggest battle he faces is “righteous indignation” from his peers.

    • Funny, a Prius with Cali plates makes ME puke.

Hybrid cars are a great allegory for “common sense gun control” laws–the illusion of being “green” while driving a vehicle whose manufacture, operation, and disposal probably have a greater negative impact on Mother Earth than a traditional car.

      • Your hippies really need to get with the program. Here in Seattle, to show you truly care about the environment, you have to drop $100k on a Tesla.

      • Hey, you got a problem with high gas mileage? Improving automotive technology shouldn’t be a partisan issue. Of course many of the early adopters are ideologically motivated, in whole or in part, but the market will respond and we’ll all be better off with more practical cars. No, I don’t have use for a Tesla made to never be driven out of the city due to it’s limited range, but I’m happy to see companies like that innovate and push the envelope. I do admire Tesla for it’s innovative business practices, selling directly to customers through showrooms and cutting out the dealership middlemen to save their customers thousands of dollars in markups. The free market at it’s best, and a world leader American company. As for hybrid cars, well, I’d be very happy to own a car that gets over 50mpg (100mpg for a few hours if it’s also plug-in), as hybrids do, and I’m glad they’re getting more affordable all the time. I say bring on the hybrids, bring on the electric cars, bring on the hydrogen cars, bring on the new technologies and make driving less expensive. You can still drive a Hummer H1 if you want to, but as a man on a tight budget lowering my fuel expenses sure sounds good to me.

  6. Wow, that segment had everything; sober analysis of political reality, followed by erudite handwringing and brow beating, complimented by “behind enemy lines” reporting from a crack correspondent, and topped off by a blatantly racist admonition received with thunderous applause. This has been your 5 minutes hate…

  7. Most of the POTG I know have never seen the drivers’ seat of a tractor and maybe have been to a farm once in their life.

Maher needs to get out of New York more.

    • Actually, he lives in L.A., San Pedro, I think, although he’s originally from New Jersey. And he owns guns. And he brags about being a pothead and then in the next breath arrogantly mocks what he calls rubes.

I’m not sure why he’s such a hypocrite.

      • Jesus, for the honor and reputation of San Pedro I will try one last time. Bill Maher doesn’t live here.

        Third times the charm?

      • Just as there is a very fine line between genius and madness I think there’s just as fine a line between libertarian and tyrant.

The libertarian wants liberty for all regardless of how stupid you may or may not be. The tyrant thinks he’s special and wants liberty for himself and those like him. All the stupid people need to be very tightly controlled or they may threaten the liberty of the tyrants.

Much of the tyrant attitude, IMO, is rooted in how the nation currently handles its stupid people. They are a liability to everyone else in their actions mostly because the state uses extorted tax dollars to establish various safety nets for them and because most legislation that we all live under is a result of stupid people doing stupid things.

So the tyrant figures the state will keep on statin’ but they don’t want the state to state all over them.

The libertarians figure is the state wasn’t statin’ so hard in the first place there’d be more liberty for all of us. Like letting the addicts OD rather than pull out all the stops to save some cretin who obviously doesn’t want to live his life anymore. Or, if you absolutely must waste time and resources trying to save an addict do it with charity rather than tax funded programs.

Bill Mahr is special and hates everyone else for how the state treats him. Not how the state treats everyone else. Just how it treats him.

        • “…keep on statin’…”

          “…state wasn’t statin’ so hard…”

There are clearly gold record rap lyrics here. Just need it looped to a beat

        • I evolved from Libertarian to full blown Anarchist after about 2 years of serious soul searching. Once you start to believe that the state does anything useful for people, it’s a slippery slope to absolute statist. Yes, there are varying degrees, but in the end it’s about control, not protecting liberty.

      • I’m not sure why he’s such a hypocrite.

For nasty, filthy, evil, wants more of it, MONEY. And he is a POS libtard.

    • I live about an hour north of New York, on a quiet street with lots of gun owners, most of whom are military vets and most of whom hold at least two post-secondary degrees. Bill’s bubble is much smaller than he realizes.

  8. I’d love to parachute this guy into Iuka Mississippi or Miller South Dakota to see how long he’d survive with real Americans…

    • a long time. Because real Americans are actually tolerant law abiding folk who love liberty. Not hypocritical elitists who think we know better than everyone else and try to force feed our opinions down their throats. And if they disagree it’s “off with their heads”.

As I see it. bill would be plenty safe with real America.

      • +10

Yes, and this is a large reason why he feels safe to insult them.

And it makes him clearly come across as a little b*tch.

  9. Not to worry. If the SHTF, Billy boy would be the first to cower under his desk sobbing into his rented suit. This guy’s nothing but a wannabe tough guy…a true poser.

  10. Bill is a ignorant bigot. He doesn’t even know why Tim McGraw was criticized. He just wants to belittle people who have a different opinion.

  11. Here I thought it was the 13% of the population living mostly in urban areas that commit 50% of the murders in this country. I guess Bill would have a point if you were a duck, though.

      • Well, if there’s one redeeming factor with Bill is that he’s not afraid to call out the Muslims. I don’t think Loretta Lynch is about to cut his head off and stick it on a pike for (rightly) picking on a racial minority.

The only thing lower than an atheist is an atheist Muslim apologist, BTW.

        • How is it possible to be both an atheist and a Muslim?

          That doesn’t make any sense.

        • My bad – I misread this when viewing it on my phone…Muslim vs. Muslim apologist. Sorry Gov.

  12. I have found the gun community
“red necks ” to be very helpful to this new black gun owner. The socialist or progressive or leftist or what ever they choose to call themselves, are the most racist intolerant and uneducated people with college degrees I have encountered.

They have become the “white citizens council” of today. It seems liberals have breathed new life into this racist way of thinking.

  13. I’m proudly a redneck, and proudly from “fly-over” country. I and 100,000,000 of my fellow patriots maintain the means to assert our rights, and to defend ourselves. I couldn’t care less what Bill Maher thinks of me.

  14. Rednecks have been some of the best people I’ve been around – always willing to help out, pleasant and fun to hang out with. Bit boisterous and loud at times, but they’re just having fun. If a fight does break out, it’s with fists and shared beers afterwards, not knives and/or guns drawn (unless someone’s really gone and done it).

Course that might be because I’ve treated them with respect, helped them out, and generally regarded them as equals instead of thinking I’m better than them.

    • “Course that might be because I’ve treated them with respect, helped them out, and generally regarded them as equals instead of thinking I’m better than them.”

This is the basis of being human. He and his like minded comrades will never understand this.

  15. Wow that was just one big liberal group think tank.

I don’t like Fox News (mostly because I don’t like partisan hacks), but at least they try to have people that represent both sides of an issue that they are talking about.

  16. I would agree, if he said gun-rednecks.
Gun-redneck as in, the guy who recently killed his pregnant friend while he was trying some tacticool tricks. With a loaded gun. the same guy who said “it’s the damn guns. they nearly blew my head off TWICE.”
Like not being able to handle a piece of iron is not your own fault.

  17. Did you guys hear that? It’s access to guns that are the problem. That is why 20,000 people died last year in suicides. They saw a gun and immediately grabbed it and blew their brains out. When these people spot guns they have an immediate urge to grab them and blow their own brains out. Access to guns is the problem people – Not mental health. Access to rope, belts, prescription drugs, household chemicals, vehicle exhaust pipes – these aren’t a problem – only the guns.

    • Yeah, I noticed that too. But, of course, nobody on that show picked up on it. Thought it was funny how the gal on the left of the video could hardly contain herself and just had to spout out her little bit of “wisdom”. After she mentioned the suicide part (which I think she really screwed up her statistic numbers BTW) I thought the same as you did. All these people committing suicide is a “gun problem” ? Really, how ignorant is that statement?

  18. Bill Maher and his panel omitted a critical detail. The blond lady shrieked about access to firearms and suicide … implying that we could somehow eliminate 20,000 suicides a year if those people could not access a firearm. Setting aside the fact that people in “gun free” utopias like Japan have no trouble at all committing suicide without guns at a rate higher than the United States, how exactly does Ms. Blonde propose we limit access to firearms to prevent suicides?

That is a huge question. If we order people to keep their firearms in safes, that does nothing because the person who owns the firearm also has the combination to the safe. If we tell people that they must admit they are suicidal before purchasing a firearm to commit suicide, that does nothing because the person determined to end their life will lie at the time of purchase. In other words we cannot prevent suicides as long as firearms exist … which implies that Ms. Blonde wants to eliminate all firearms — an sheer impossibility.

Caveat: I suppose keeping firearms in safes would prevent some people (who do not know the combination to the safe) from opening the safe and killing themselves. And yet nothing stops them from killing themselves with alternate means … including making zip guns for less than $20.

    • There are much easier ways to commit suicide than making a zip gun. How about a bottle of pills ? We really need to make pills illegal as they are the real problem. Not the people that take them. Works so well with all other illegal drugs, right ? /sarc off

    • Yep, the blond could not wait to wade in with her hate for those who dont agree. I noticed she jumped on the tall brunette who rebutted her with the obvious mental health comment, interrupting before she even finished her sentence. All good and applauded by the studio ‘audience’. Mahers show is where the left goes to get their fix of ego superiority, with flashcards on who they should look down on this week.

Actually, I’m glad Maher exists. It keeps the left losers happy thinking they are doing something, and gives the rest of the voters a goor idea of what happens when you choose an angry elitist like Obama, the power to do as he likes to the “bitter clingers” he spoke about, at the liimo liberals fund-raiser in San Fran back in 2007.

  19. Further proof it is all about people control, not gun control. Bill Maher and his ilk are for gun control because they do not like who can have guns. (Case in point – Feinstein has a CCW and supports a framework where only anointed party officials like herself have CCWs.) Oh, for those who do not know, redneck is a racist term from way back, and just like the Democrat Party tried to restrict gun ownership by blacks when blacks were mostly Republicans, they are trying to do the same thing with European-Americans who live in the country who are mostly conservative. It is people control. It is dirty politics with all the usual tightly-coupled connected ‘isms, i.e., racism, collectivism, elitism, fascism, communism, progressivism, mercantilism, anarchism, environmentalism, etc.

  20. Born and break Brooklyn boy married to a West Virginia southern belle. 33 years she’s tried to countryfy me. I try to be an honorary red neck but am still working on it. South of the shall not go (Mason-Dixon) line in Virginia for the past 25 years.

  21. “…“The problem [with guns] is that third of the country that’s a bunch of fucking rednecks.” – Bill Maher”

I am loathe to go down the path of Political Correctness but in this case it is the appropriate response…..

One should not call others derogatory names based on their skin tone, that is considered racist.

One should not call others derogatory names based on their religion or religious preferences or religious history because that is considered intolerant.

One should not call others derogatory names based on their sexual preference, that is also considered intolerant.

So why would it be acceptable to call anyone a ‘redneck’ simply because they are over there or simply because they don’t agree with you?

What makes this name used in a derogatory manner acceptable but so many other names unacceptable?

Why is it acceptable to you, Mr Maher, to call me a Redneck simply because I am in the third of the population you think yourself better than?

You set the standard for name calling, that calling those you disagree with derogatory names is acceptable. So it should be equally acceptable for me to call you an elitist, effete cork soaker?

  22. It seems Maher doesn’t realize where food comes from (hint: it’s not NY or LA) . . . I’m guessing due to the ‘edukashun’ he got, or perhaps more accurately, didn’t get.

  23. Let the culture wars begin. Sad. That one lady actually thinks that the number of gun suicides is evidence that guns are the problem. Not that the person wants to kill him or herself in the first place…

  24. Man as far as I’m concerned we don’t have any real comedy anymore. It all died out in the 90s when certain people started to substitute being a snide far left a-hole for actual wit and comedy.

    • I can agree with that. That is why I stopped watching Comedy Central and most comedians in general starting from the mid-naughts. From 2005 onwards to the present the vast majority of modern comedian acts sound like DNC pep rallies rather than comedy.

If I wanted politics I would watch something involving it.

  25. He is a typical self-important a$$hole who really believes what he says is important.

If he never uttered another word the world would not notice. And would be better off.

Even with his stable of writers trying to come up with humorous, meaningful things for him to say, this is what we get. Pitiful excuse of a meatsack if you ask me.

  26. You might be a redneck if you aren’t an old, rich, white, liberal, urban, athiest, with an acerbic, condescending personality spewing profanities. Who agrees with everything Bill Maher says.

  27. I watch him less and less. He used to poke fun at everyone. Now he seems just bitter.

Last year he said he has two guns and goes to the range twice a year. Michael Moore, yes Michael Moore, said, “That’s not enough.” LOL

  28. Just in case you had any lingering doubts that gun control was really about public safety and not about cultural animus…

  29. At least the gals in Avocado Jungle were fine back in the day…I give maher props for be-ing a has-been “actor” -but he’s a POS. Expose on ABC 7 10pm news/Chicago-about the “evil silencers” coming. Catch it if you want to be p###ed off. BTW this site is getting horrible to navigate(got adblock, etc too). I know why fakebook is popular-first time since morning I’ve got it to work. and my red-neck is from diabetes but my pretty black wife still loves me.

  30. You need to take a picture of the naked bullet ridden body of Ms. Ana Charle (the next post) an place it in front of Bill and Blondie, relay the story and then ask how does one prevent this? Will they sit with her children while they cry themselves to sleep? Or punt them off to social services? If they look away, you grab them by the hair shove their faces into the picture and say no pass here, answer the questions or perhaps your fate will be as hers. Then we’ll either get the same laughter or a serious pause of reflection and then they might grasp why a gun is the only meaningful employment of lawful self protection.

  31. The problem is there are to many asses in this country like Bill Mahr……a human joke….I would like to see him try and protect himself or his loved ones from the crazies that are out there.

  32. Bill Maher is just a bigot that happens to be PC so it is ok.

He is doing exactly what he is paid to do, disseminate one brand of prejudice.

  33. http://www.range365.com/bill-maher-owns-guns-protection-others-have-sickness

This link quotes a Playboy interview with Maher.

“two guns. They’re for protection. We live in a gun country, even Los Angeles. I’m not expecting anything to happen, but I want to be ready for it. So I have a lot of security measures at my house. If somebody gets into my bedroom, wow, they really did a lot to get there. They got past gates, bodyguards, dogs. If I have to shoot somebody in my bedroom, that was a commando raid on par with the SEALs getting Bin Laden. My gun is my last line of defense.”

    He’s a big time hypocrite.

  34. I don’t agree with much Bill Maher favors, but am fascinated by his ability to get to the core of a controversy with verbal challenges. He inspires individual thought which I find to be a decreasing skill in America, and for that he’s invaluable!

  35. Bill will always be a talking head full of hot air for the neo-liberal movement. He’s full of hot air. He doesn’t concern me.
