“Blacks killing each other in Chicago and Detroit — that has nothing to do with the 2nd Amendment but everything to do with the destruction of the family. You could take away all the guns and they’ll find something else to kill each other with. It’s lack of family, lack of character.” Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson quoted in Jesse Lee Peterson, tea’d off in South L.A. [via latimes.com]

  1. Bravo good sir, Bravo!

Praise be to the Father that he could say this, otherwise a white man would be called racist by todays PC Correct Police.

    • You almost got it. The response (internally of course) of the Communists Progressives is:
We are worried about our voting bloc becoming peaceful and prosperous and not voting for us anymore.

Make no mistake: the Progressives want as much chaos, disorder, and anarchy as possible. Why? Because the Progressives will claim that the State can take care of everything — especially if the people give more money and control to the State. Unfortunately, many people have and will continue to fall for that.

It is a sad reality that the Progressives/Statists/Communists benefit from misery.

  2. What with all this “blame the individual” garbage? We all know these inanimate hunks of metal and plastic compel us to act out violently. Shhhh… there’s one speaking to me now. No. NO! I wont!! Okay, I will. Since you asked nicely.

See what you made me do?!

  3. There are a majority of ofwg in this picture. Anti 2A people will claim this guy was paid off by the NRA, because he speaks the truth.

    • @ Jeff the Gritz,
Just as we say bitter “space shot” Mark Kelly and his wife “Gabby” Gabrielle Giffords must be reaping “pay-offs” from the MAIG-Bloomberg and the Grabber crowd for turning their enjoyment of shooting and guns illogically upside down to support the anti gun pro confiscation movement.

      Comes with the territory.

The real difference however is in the race baiter and anti gun grabber bigots and opportunists use of disingenuous personal attacks and outright lies to perpetuate their *unsupported* myths about violence and guns in an effort to remain relevant and powerful to their racist followers and anti gun constituencies.

At least our position is based on facts and truths, not emotin’ and empty speculation designed to achieve their (barely) hidden agendas.

      • Didn’t you know – it’s perfectly OK to be “in the pocket” of the anti-gun establishment. You’re on the side of justice, and for the children. People on the NRA’s payroll are just murderous bastards, itching for ANY reason to shoot up “the children” who Midget Mikey and his ilk are trying so desperately to protect.

I’m still in shock that a black reverend would say what this guy said though. He didn’t play that victim/race card at all.

  4. from the link:
“You say it’s hard to find black Americans who aren’t angry and racist toward whites. Don’t they have something to be angry about, like the enduring legacy of slavery?”

“None of them were enslaved. We did far better living and working, more united as families [50 years ago] than blacks are doing today.”

OK, now time for the next question: what are the primary causes for the destruction of the modern American family? The answer is the spreading virus of feminist values into society and into the legal system, and the entitlement attitude of many modern American womyn. Related to the prior concepts, another cause has been the cultural war against fathers, men, and boys that began around 1970.

    • Aligns with the other leftist mantra that there is no difference between men and women. This of coarse leads to the popular lie that two women or two men can raise a child just as well as a normal father/mother. It’s all bat-sheet crazy and if the current day’s progressive screeching were uttered just 20-30 years ago the world would have rightfully ridiculed them. Nowadays the NYT and LAT preaches the idiocy as gospel.

      • I am not a leftist… but I am a pediatrician, and I have seen just as many happy healthy well-rounded children raised in a gay or lesbian household as I have seen abused neglected children raised in heterosexual households… why don’t we let people do what they want in their bedroom and stop judging them if it doesn’t hurt anyone?

        • While there are many same-sex couples with major issues (Many homosexual men sleep around; lesbian couples have unusually high rates of domestic violence), there are also many heterosexual couples with major issues. Numerous studies have been conducted to see whether children grow up happier or more successful in particular environments, and the majority of these have concluded that children grow best in a stable, happy environment with two parents who get along well. The parents’ genders aren’t significant to the result.

        • Any argument like some of X are better than some of Y commits a logical and statistical fallacy. It is anecdotal cherry picking and usually not true at all.

    • Aharon: If the only way to save the American family is to subvert the rights and will of women perhaps it’s not worth saving. There was a time when it was thought that the economy and social order would collapse without slavery. Those arguments were used to continue an immoral practice that exploited one group for the benefit of another. It turned out the predictions were untrue and even if they had been valid it would not have changed the fact that the system was simply wrong. The same applies here. If women’s rights and empowerment are the cause then family life it’s self is the problem. This would of course be a ridiculously simplistic view of a terribly complex issue but allowing that it’s true illustrates the point nicely.

How about instead of blaming one half of the population we try personal accountability. Things like not having children which we can’t afford, avoiding drugs and excessive alcohol, getting and keeping jobs and etc.

For that matter one could just as well blame men for the problems in the family for failing to represent their assigned traditional roles.

We have a huge problem, but blaming women isn’t even on the spectrum of ways to solve it or even understand the quality and scope of what we face. It’s just a sad, misogynistic cop out proving and providing nothing of substance. Sexism and racism are the resort of those who won’t or can’t understand the problem or offer solutions.

      • I have the beginning of a solution: you (the generic you) can no longer call people misogynistic, homophobic, racist, bigoted, anti-Islamic, and so on when their opinions don’t align with yours.

        • Labeling people in non-PC terms is a common tactic of the Left to intimidate and silence people that speak out against their agenda. It is ironic that overall feminism is often anti-woman.

      • “How about instead of blaming one half of the population we try personal accountability. ”

He wasn’t blaming women…..he was blaming feminists, womeyn, and leftists which are all pretty much the same breed of idiot.

      • Ardent:

Your reply or reaction was right out of the Leftist Propaganda Brainwashing Bible. Feminism is not about Equality for men and women. Feminism is not about Women’s Rights and Empowerment so much as it is about discriminating against and dis-empowering fathers, men, and boys. Only an ignorant person has not realized by now that feminism is now about Female Supremacy though in practice most women are overall now less happy and fulfilled with their lives than they were forty years ago. I never wrote to take away Women’s rights to Equally compete with men and to have Equal access to opportunity. Your reply was sadly pathetic and expressed your misunderstanding of what is going on under the surface. Rather it appears your reality is a mix of modern academic preaching and the Ms.-Information pushed by the mass media.

        • Call me dumb, but how exactly is it that empowering women and homosexuals erodes the social standing of men? How is personal accountability a leftist idea?

Aren’t all people created equal? Perhaps not all are satisfied by traditional gender roles. Equal rights and opportunities are basic principles of being an American…To quote a person much smarter than myself, “The spread of evil is the symptom of a vacuum. Whenever evil wins, it is only by default: by the moral failure of those who evade the fact that there can be no compromise on basic principles.”

        • “libertarianism”
          — Maybe. LMAO.

One example of dis-empowering men and is the passing of laws that grant special class favoritism to women and girls over men and boys. BTW, for the record, I never once mentioned homosexuals only feminist double-standards and the bias against males. I’m getting ready for a big move so I can’t reply at length.

    • How about blaming the data that 73% of today’s African American children are born out of wedlock to a single parent (mother, obviously) home? How about blaming the “Pro Choice” murder of hundreds of thousands of babies (many of whom are African American) by Planned Parenthood? How about blaming a secular Pop Culture that encourages irresponsible “sex for fun” and depicts those people who don’t engage in active sexuality as somehow flawed?
I’m no prude, but I firmly believe the breakdown of the family has everything to do with the breakdown of personal responsibility for one’s actions, the breakdown of the will (imperative) to act responsibly and the breakdown of concern for others’ expressed as a “me first” mindset, which is so prevalent today. All persons are entitled to equality under the Law irregardless of their sex, race, ethnicity or any way you wish to parse them beyond being human,
I freely admit I have found some aspects of the Women’s Movement to be annoying, but I firmly support the rights of women to be treated equally and fairly all over the world.
The gentleman quoted in this piece is, at last, speaking truth to one group in the U.S. that sorely needs some truth spoken to it because only by adverting to the truth can they achieve their best potential as Americans and as human beings. To my mind achieving your best potential is exactly what is meant by “…the Pursuit of Happiness…” and every person on the Planet is entitled to that Right.

      • Well, let’s look at when things began to go south. That was in the late 70’s and early 80’s, when Friedman economics took hold. Business CEOs took the step of farming out production to low wage off shore entities, and factories began closing down throughout the steel belt (now the “rust belt”). The actual workers were laid off in the tens of thousands while corporate profits increased and CEOs bought Lear jets. This process has accelerated in the new century, and unemployment and financial crime is still at an all time high. The same thing happened all over the world. Corporate greed without any trace of morality has displaced the populations of major cities, turning once thriving communities into ghettos without hope.

Politicians have remained medacious liars, offering false hope without any intent to correct the real problems. Minority communities have taken the biggest hit in this turmoil, and it is unsurprising that they have turned their backs on America. They now operate as tribal drug gangs where only personal violence brings any semblance of power.

Let the gang thugs go after the real authors of their misfortune, and the rest of us will be able to celebrate. America has been sold to the highest (political contributions) bidder. There is no country left. The slogan “America First” is a hollow reminder that some tried to stem the flow, and encourage consumers to buy American. The first rule of any investigation is to “Follow the money” (aka “Cui bono”) and you will see that the wealthy have committed treason to increase their wealth – they have benefited foreign countries to the despair of the working American. If the jobs were there, the ghettos would shrink. Your politicians are being paid to lie and look the other way. The proof is that things are getting worse, not better, and Wall Street laughs all the way to the bank.

        • I think your economic assessment of the issue is very accurate.
“There is no country left.” pretty much sums up what I have been thinking recently, and, frankly, trying to deny, because its full implications are too painful to accept.

    • Wow…where to begin…
Homosexuality is not destroying America. Gay couples who do have children tend to be better parents than we “breeders” are. Why? Because they can’t have kids by accident. They have to adopt, get a surrogate, etc.

Teens have been having sex since before any of us were born. The difference was back then, one could become a productive adult as a teenager. Now, due to the education requirement for work, kids who have kids screw up their futures.

Feminism can be linked to the increase in divorce and reduction in children per family. But is that bad? A century ago women were effectively property. Now they are equals. Back in the “good old days”, a woman would put up with a life that made her unhappy. Today she has the freedom to fix it. As a society we can adapt and allow women to be happy and have strong families.

So what’s really causing all of this? Four things:
Federal control of education. When the DoEd came about in the late ’70s schools went downhill. They don’t teach critical thinking or good character. They barely teach the three Rs these days.
The Federal Reserve, and destruction of the dollar. When Nixon took the US off the gold standard entirely, the purchasing power of the dollar began to collapse. It has lost 80% or more of its value since then. It takes two full time jobs to barely scrape by, which leaves little time for parenting.
The nanny state. People now expect the government to take care of everything, which is killing personal responsibility.
The big one (particularly in the black community) is the welfare state. It promotes single mothers (if there’s a father present, the government doesn’t pay as much) and larger families (they get paid per kid). And it hinders work and skill acquisition (why bother to work, when the government will pay you just as much to watch soap operas all day?).

The Rev talks about how the black family was better off 50 years ago. What happened 50 years ago? Kennedy got shot. LBJ (advised by a cabal of Trotskyites, who later became the neocons) took over and started the welfare/warfare state. Within half a decade, the dollar was trading so low, every foreign bank was redeeming them for gold, and Nixon had to close the gold window (or cut spending, but that wouldn’t get him reelected). And less than a decade later, Carter signed the DoEd into existence.

      • I don’t find wives and husbands equal in marriage. If that were the case then judges would not reward primary custody of children to the mother in 92 or 94% of the cases along with most of the assets to the woman. The government is generally on the side of the wife or mother. Divorce has become a control tool of government separating fathers from the children. Divide and Conquer is a proven strategy to control the sheeple.

    • what are the primary causes for the destruction of the modern American family? The answer is the spreading virus of feminist values

Maybe and maybe not. But the black community has never bought into feminism, and yet it’s the community where the destruction of the family is the worst.

      • I replied yesterday and it seems to have gone into limbo.

Bottom line: two examples of how indirectly feminist values have been embraced by the black community are the large numbers of black women having children out of wedlock and then demanding free social service entitlements from society to support their poor decisions.

    • More anti-female BS. It is the welfare system that has destroyed the family and civil society in the inner city, not feminism. Even FDR understood that gratis welfare payments would the destroy the family not preserve it. It was Johnson and Nixon who created the modern welfare system that destroyed the black family.

      • tdiinva,

Feminism has been behind the actions and laws that have encouraged women to divorce men knowing they’d get the house and kids and their ex-husbands would continue to be their financial servant for decades if not for ever. Feminism has been the driving force behind the cultural war bashing and discriminating against men, boys, fathers, and husbands. Feminism is a political tool the new politicians embrace since it helps them to divide and conquer the sheeple.

  5. The leading over-the-top inflammatory questions from the interviewer are priceless. You’d think that present day America is nothing but cross-burning neanderthals making you-tube videos about Obama eating watermelons. WTF? I’ve chewed up terabytes of You-tube and haven’t cruised upon Obama watermelon videos and Michele in NatGeo. Now I’d imagine that if I ACTIVELY SEARCHED for Obama watermelon videos I’d probably find some azzhole who made some lame video. I’d also wager that the watermelon videos are outnumbered 100-to-1 by videos made by black “artists” calling other black people the N-word.

These questions by the LATimes are emblematic of the Left trying to convince black people of the big lie that America is racist and only the Democrat party will protect them. In reality, the Left’s tactics are racist in that they are treating the black race as children.

  6. A few weeks ago a popular black social critic and speaker (forgot his name) told Piers Morgan that he was stupid for claiming racist policies and guns are the causes of violence in black communities and the black male unemployment rate. The man went on to state the causes are babies being born out of wedlock with the results that children are being raised in poverty and without a father figure.

    • That interview was with Larry Elder
      http://www.larryelder.com/

Elder is on the same side as Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson. Both have been called Uncle Tom and traders to their color by the Black Community. These men are the exact opposite of Sharpton and Jackson.

While Obama, Sharpton and Jackson promote racial divide and dependence on the government, Larry Elder’s and Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson promote self reliance, education and responsibility which goes against the culture of dependence that many black community leaders and democrats feed upon for their power. Today’s Black Culture is self destructive to the Black Community. When people like Larry Elder’s and Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson (and even Bill Cosby) point this out, they are shot down and silenced. Culture is a very difficult thing to change. It is a culture that has learned self loathing.

In the politics of culture, the Black Community needs to realize when many of the illegal Hispanics become legal voters and will far out number the black community, they will become far less important as political tools and will need to change or face eventual extinction.

      • That word is “traitors”, Pascal. Also, there is no monolithic “Black Culture” or “Black Community, if either of those terms be taken to mean that all people who are perceived as being “black,” or “colored,” or “Negroes,” or “African-Americans,” hold certain attitudes, beliefs, and ideas in common,. We don’t.

  7. Obviously, this reverend is an Uncle Tom…. (that’s what they call people who break out of the African American social mold)

  8. ouch. boy if i said some of those things, i’d be sued.

while I think he’s over the top and don’t agree with him on a few issues like gay marriage, I am glad he is out there providing a counterpoint. The debate on many issues like welfare reform is far too one-sided.

  9. from an evolutionary point of view: entitlements allow fathers to leave the family, and the kids will still survive because they are supported by the state. If there were no entitlements, then the children would not survive (ie the late 1800’s), and therefore would not be a nation of fatherless children producing more fatherless children, ad naseum.

Entitlements make a ‘knock a chick up and run’ strategy a winning one in the evolutionary sense.

make sense? I dont care what color you are, its all economics.

  10. The notion of the breakdown of the family being behind the violence is one that the left doesn’t want to accept because ~ they created it ~.

By giving more welfare to women with 1. more children and 2. no man in the home, what state do most women therefore want to be in order to maintain or “better” (context here, context!) their own situation?

Well naturally they want as many kids as possible and no man in the home!

Kids raised without the benefit of fathers suffer in numerous ways. The contribution of the father to the household and to kids is critical for the mental and emotional health of all of the people in it. This is why the family breaks down.

The lefties created this situation with their policies, they are loathe to acknowledge that by admitting that families without fathers is at the root of the violence.

    • “The lefties created this situation with their policies, they are loathe to acknowledge that by admitting that families without fathers is at the root of the violence.”

Dennis Prager….”The Left has destroyed everything it touches” Education (K thru Graduate), Art, Movies, TV, newspapers, Music, and next on the agenda …. Religion and marriage.

  11. With the quoted statement and several of those he made, I can agree. Even as a young (mid 20s) black man from the South I can agree with much of what he has stated. Up until he started spewing stupidity about homosexuals and comparing himself to Booker T. Washington. The majority of issues today for us (blacks) are created by us. We allowed the errosion of family within our culture. We allow our children to choose the streets over education, the best and most reliable path to success and out of the hoods of this country (I grew up in the equivalent of the burbs, but most family is in the hood or the country). We murder our own.

That doesn’t mean that many of our problems don’t trace back to slavery though, because they do. When you oppress people for centuries you can’t expect them to come out unscathed and without resentment towards the oppressors. Those feelings could have subsided much earlier had it not been for the continuing systematic treatment of blacks as second class citizens into the mid 60s. Also the attempts by government to streamline the flow to normalcy often backfired (think the projects). Those that continue racism (black & white), in my experience, have for the most part been those that grew up during or before that period (and their children) and have since remained isolated in almost exclusively black or white communities. Racism is a learned behavior. Fear of the unknown is natural but hatred is not.

Just some thoughts from a socially liberal, fiscally conservative, gun loving, gun toting guy. If only I had candidates to vote for…

    • Jews have had a pretty tough road and yet they don’t exhibit the same sociopathologies as the black community. Please explain.

      • Globally this is certainly true. Jews have faced enslavement, genocide, and still face discrimination and hatred. However, I believe there are several factors for Jews having a different mindset and outlook. The millennia they have had to deal with it is probably a factor. The fact that they have since found themselves in positions of power is likely a major factor. The fact that one typically can’t spot or identify a person as Jewish at first glance is likely another factor.

However this is the US, here they haven’t seen the same negative treatment as African Americans. Many would say that the only ethnic group to have it worse in the US is Native Americans. I’d agree with that. With that said, in time I believe that blacks and African Americans will have a much better outlook if a few things happen. Blacks have to stop blaming whites for all their issues. Whites have to stop believing that they haven’t contributed to the problem in any way. A higher percentage of blacks have to achieve a higher socioeconomic status, (proportionately equal to that of whites should be where it trends). That’s just the three that pop in to my head first.

  12. Yes, some right-wing religious fanatics are black, and maybe we will see this guy on stage at the 2016 Republican convention.

That aside, some of what he says is true. Blacks were, in some respects, financially relatively better off 50 years ago, because in segregated society there was a separate “Black” economy with black professionals (dentists, lawyers, whatever) who soley served their own communities. Also, the minimum wage was, in real terms, considerably higher in the 1960s, much closer to what we would now call a “living wage.” The booming post-war industrial economy offered good union jobs with which someone with (or even without) a high school diploma could actually support a family. As the white population reached near full employment, companies began hiring blacks, and unions accepted this, though sometimes reluctantly.

Currently, in places like Chicago and Detroit, there simply are no jobs. And historically, Black employment doesn’t increase until white employment is near saturation. And there is discrimination in hiring – HR people given fake resumes of people with “Black” sounding names will often reject them in favor of less qualified “White” sounding names. Also, young Blacks are far more likely to be convicted of drug related felonies (Stop and Frisk, anyone?), though young Whites use drugs at about the same rate. With the felony, you are unemployable.

The Right loves to moralize and wag its finger about the moral failure of the Black family (though Blacks attend church at higher rates than Whites), but the real issue is poverty. Middle class kids in single parent families do just fine. As for having a father in the house, if the father is an abusive dysfunctional asshole, it’s not gonna help.

As for Black women having too many kids, this is also a big problem among poor Whites. Organizations like Planned Parenthood that provide contraception and other health care (and, yes, abortions) to poor women are increasingly under attack. Women who are financially secure generally don’t have too many children. With the current, post-Clinton welfare system, there is little or no financial benefit to having more children – the reasons lie elsewhere.

I’m not saying I have a solution(well, more jobs would be a start), but I do say that the notion that there is no systemic racism in America and those Black folks should just shut up and get their shit together is ridiculous.

      • Sorry you can’t deal with the truth Mina. Racism is still an issue and still systemic and systematic. It just isn’t as prevalent as it was 50-60 years ago.

        • So in other words, black community: don’t value education and hard work over “street cred,” make sure to accuse anyone who does of selling out, don’t stick around to raise that baby you just made and don’t forget to pull your media-issued Race Card if anyone tries to help you make real changes to improve your quality of life. The sins of the past mean you have no responsibilities or obligations today, so just keep voting for the guy with the “D” by his name and then sit back and wait for the check to come in.

Trust us. Obey us. We will take care of you.

          Your progressive masters have spoken.

    • Mina, am I merely a “token” lefty? I’m hurt.

It’s funny that the argument seems always to be between the right wing notion that there is no such thing as systemic racism in modern America and opportunities are equal for everyone vs. the right wing straw man that lefties say America is racist, therefore Black individuals bear no responsibility for their situation in life. Of course people have to take responsibility for themselves.

Neverthless, Black folks continue to get the short end of the stick in every measurable way – schools, criminal “justice,” employment discrimination, and on. Because of the history of real estate redlining and loan discrimination (which is well documented and still goes on), Blacks have not had the same opportunities to accrue family wealth through home ownership. The urban “gang” culture is a product of total, nihilistic despair. Kids figure they’ll end up in the System as a matter of course, many expect to be dead by their early 20s. People talk about drugs, but on the whole, whites use drugs, including crack cocaine at the same or higher rates than blacks. Same with alcohol, which does far more damage than any illegal drug.

Am I saying it’s all your fault? I am not. But I do think there is such a thing as collective responsibility for past wrongs. Affirmative action, preferential government contracts for black-owned companies, etc., have helped, though I know conservatives hate those things, and they are clearly imperfect.

I have no patience for mealy-mouthed “White Guilt”, but I do say we have a ways to go yet, and if anything, as economic inequality increases for everybody, things may get worse before they get better.

  13. The 4 tonne elephant whom noone will mention is an insular, criminal-deifying culture.

Just as every kid in the ’20s wanted to be Al Capone — Prohibition was unjust and the Government was therefor the Bad Guy — many inner city kids want to be the crack dealer or pimp, “sticking’ it to the Man.”

By ostracizing every “oreo” and daemonizing as a snitch even victims who call 911, insisting on using Ghettospeak and bitchin’ when that reduces their job options, a significant percentage of that population set themselves up as ninepins.

This is in large part a self-inflicted problem.

However, anyone who denies the effects of racial bias is just like a Grabber, sitting in the dark with closed eyes.

    • “many inner city kids want to be the crack dealer or pimp, “sticking’ it to the Man.”

Why though? Maybe because they have no fathers to show them the way, to work for their families to make a better life for them than they had, to illustrate through action that the best way to make it in life is to pull yourself up and make it happen.

I submit to you that a man like Ben Carson is an incredible role model – he came from nothing, his mother although lacking a partner drilled into him all of those things that a boy needs – character, integrity, hard work, effort, dedication.

You think any child of his would want to be a crack dealer or a pimp? No they’d want to be JUST LIKE DADDY, like any normal boy would.

      • Mina, when you point to Dr. Ben Carson, neurosurgeon extraordinaire, as an example of an “incredible” role model, you contradict your contention that the problem in the so-called “Black Community” is the lack of appropriate male role models for Afram boys raised by females. Carson, as you point out, was himself raised in a father-absent household in Detroit;s inner city, as was his brother, a mechanical engineer, and they both turned out fine, by most folks’ standards.

      • Because it’s the culture, instilled by brutal, then unfair and finally demeaning treatment. Further, kids (especially whose whose naughty bits protrude) are rebellious critters.

While some decent fathers would help, it goes far deeper than that.

Further, Selma, Wallace et cetera are within living memory. The cycle of maltreatment and resentment is a hard thing to kill; it’s like the Hatfields and the McCoys.

To illustrate, how many WWII Pacific vets would buy a Mitsubishi? How many who saw ‘nam would eat hột vịt lộn?

They don’t trust us, and I cannot blame them.

        It sucks, it does.

        • EDIT: Not to say that it doesn’t go way back, what with folks named Mustaffa and Kaobola selling one another to the Portuguese.

Unfortunately, in the U.S. the only “community” with which they seem to be able to come up is “not like Whitey” because their own cultures have been burned out of ’em.

We each need a foundation, else we whip about and fall over.

Makes cooperation and shared vision hard.

    • Russ it’s not so much “sticking it to the Man.” It’s more-so that most inner city kids are poor. The people they see gaining material wealth are often the biggest dealers in the neighborhood. They soon come to believe (without corrective guidance, education and wisdom) that this is the quickest way to “success.”

Mina you’re mostly right about that, but have you considered the families with two parents both working but unable to generate enough to move out of the hood? Their children, particularly young boys, are also at risk because they see their parents working their asses off for little to no gain. They look out the window and still see that same seemingly wealthy dealer. Often they still begin to look up to that dealer.

      • I was referring to culture, not economic concerns.

Lots of people talk about economic problems and belief among the hopeless that crime is the only way out, but the thing noone will mention is a culture in which the bad guys are heros.

How many regular Joes wish for that one hot, inside stock tip? Crime is often seen as the only way out — by a lot of people.

But in the ‘hood? Just watch “Super Fly” and tell me I’m wrong.

        ‘Course, you’re right.

      • Bishop, I would ad that if these “good” kids do the same stupid shit that a lot of middle-class white teenagers also do – get in fights, smoke dope, shoplift, ( in some cases even cussing at your teacher can bring the cops) etc., they are far more likely to be arrested and prosecuted, thereby ending up in the system, possibly even in Juvie where there are bad role models aplenty, and being “hard” is a matter of survival. White kids are more likely to get halfway decent legal representation and a sympathetic ear – “Little Billy has made a terrible mistake, he deserves a second chance,” vs. “Little DeShawn is clearly a hardened gang-banger, and he needs to be taught a severe lesson.” Because minor drug convictions affect things like federal student aid and military eligibility, the repercussions of this racist “justice” system are far-reaching.

  14. I disagree, overall, with the view overall on this thread that our country is racist. I feel based on only my own personal experience and observing those around me that most people have gotten past it.

There’s alot more to this story. “Racist” is a smoke screen designed to prevent us from getting to the bottom of it.

    • Mina, yours is a typical conservative view. While you are certainly not burning a cross on anybody’s lawn, and I’m sure you treat all individuals with respect regardless of skin color, etc., it is naive to deny that our various law enforcement agencies and prosecutors target Black and Brown people more than whites. There are stats aplenty. Same goes for employers. And schools.

The issues are complicated, and those that cry “racism” at every perceived slight are likely just as full of hoohey as Rush Limbaugh.

I somewhat agree with your statement “There’s alot more to this story. “Racist” is a smoke screen designed to prevent us from getting to the bottom of it.”

I’m no apologist for Jesse Jackson, et al.

But there is still a lot of institutional racism in this country. I’d like to see the Right own up to this, and work to fix it. I think it would do our Constitutional Republic a lot of good.

Let’s get to the bottom of it. Seriously.

      • Nah. Its the only card the libtards (democrats) play…..from the bottom of the deck. Give me, give me, give me, nanny state victimhood/’Big Gov’ lunacy. The Americans of Asian descent have kicked the asses of the Americans of African descent. Excuses are the worlds smallest violin. Shut up and get to work. Racism is when somebody hates EVERYBODY of a different race. Prejudice is a human condition that all must work on (including blacks).

        • >> Racism is when somebody hates EVERYBODY of a different race.

Republicans: redefining the dictionary since 2001.

        • At least I am not a self loathing libtard (democrat) enabler. You must love how your fellow liberals tried to take the guns (freedom) away. Keep dancing to that victim fiddle that the race card hustling pimps continue to play and hate yourself (if you are white) while your at it.
          Get to work.

        • Just speaking the language of the natives. Libtards are creatures of emotion. I simply feed them their meat (poison laced, of course).
There is simply no excuse for statist (Big Gov) ideology or victim death cults.
