“Anything that goes beyond that (checking firearms at the courthouse door) I will not allow in the Senate. My word and my commitment is something that I hold to be very sacred.” – Florida state Senator Anitere Flores in Guns at a standoff in Judiciary, advocates lose majority with GOP defection [via tallahassee.com]

  1. We’ll remember that for the next elections. Thank you.

P.S. I have a feeling that she’ll do good among the Miami crowd.

  2. Personally I think she has hung herself down here. The natives will revolt come next election cycle. 1 person wont always stand in the way.

  3. That’s fine. Have fun losing your primary. I’m sure you won’t care though as you’ll switch to the demoRat party anyway.

    • From my understanding she can no longer run for state Senate due to term limits and that she will be running for mayor of Miami. Obviously that is why she has flipped flopped her stance. Unfortunately it will very likely work.

      • That and her Senate Republican leadership overseers. The establishment has no desire to loosen gun laws. Deal with it.

  4. She sounds like the usual elitist Authoritarian DemoCRAP, or RINOs we got up North…”Ye shall NOT enter my kingdom baring arms…ONLY THe knights of my kingdom, or The Sheriff of Nottingham shall posess such instruments…For the Official use of Enforcement the Queens Duly decreed edicts, laws, or collection of taxes of my realm!!! So mote it be….Say’th the Queen…”

  5. Another RINO is spotted.

She was just sitting on fence to see way she can screw with us Floridians.

I guess she learns a lesson at the polls soon

  6. From the source article:

Education requires some discomfort. We encourage students to be provocative and adding weapons to that environment causes great concern — Tallahassee Community College President Jim Murdaugh

Translation: education requires discomfort … as long as Progressives get to control which discomfort is permissible. Got it.

    Also from the article:

Tallahassee Community College President Jim Murdaugh is a former Leon County Sheriff’s deputy. He retains his law enforcement certification and the right to carry a firearm but doesn’t pack heat on the campus he controls.

The derp is strong with this one.

    • They “encourage students to be provocative”? Strange, I thought that colleges and universities were safe spaces.

      • Provocative means endorsing marxism and coming out as an attack helicopter.

If you’re supporting things like the 2nd Amendment you’re a troll at best, a hatemonger at normal.

  7. Once you step on it lady it’s hard to get it off your shoes. You might try your luck defending illegal aliens if you have the right law degree once your out of office.

  8. She pledged allegiance to our natural and constitutional rights in a letter to the NRA last year. Her word is shit.

    • She’s a politician. All of their words are shit. Every one of them would do the same thing in a heartbeat if they thought it would advance their career.

  9. Flores on the 2nd Amendment
    [email protected]

On March 8, 2017, Marion P. Hammer, USF Executive Director and NRA Past President, issued a Florida Alert to all USF and NRA Members that Anitere Flores had come out against the second amendment by publicly stating her intent to kill several pro-gun bills by joining Democrats and not allowing them out of her committee. Drawing the full ire of the pro-gun lobby, Mrs. Flores, has been nicknamed “Madame DLP”. The DLP is a reference to Miguel De La Portilla whom lost re-election after obstructing pro-gun bills in the same committee. Her A rating with the NRA is currently under review.

It’s not just you! http://www.anitereflores.com looks down from here.

  10. This insanity needs to stop. Single elected officials trying to curtail freedoms is utter BS; I’m not sure why we tolerate these people any more.

    • She is not the only politician standing in the way. The entire Republican leadership structure in Florida is pulling the strings. She is just the present puppet. Deal with it.

  11. Is Florida an open primary state? If so, the folks who live in whatever area she chooses to run in next will know what to do in her next primary. Sucks that another Republican turns out to be nothing but a back stabbing politician, but if they see what happens to turncoats, perhaps they will be less like to do a Benedict Arnold.

  12. What a disappointment to have such people in office. She not only lied and falsely represented herself to her constituents, during the clip of her statement she could not even properly articulate herself. Under qualified with no integrity. Isn’t this what we are trying to purge from our government system?
